    New Feature: Import Your Works from AO3!

    Tired of copying and pasting your stories one chapter at a time? We totally get it. Manually moving fanfiction can eat up hours you’d rather spend creating.

    That’s why we’ve launched Import Works from AO3. Now, with just a few clicks, you can transfer your stories straight from Archive of Our Own to your profile!

    No hassle. No mess. Just your work, exactly how you wrote it, ready to reach new readers. Try it now and save yourself the busywork.

    Okay, how do I get started, though?

    Step 1.

  • Press the “Add a work” button and then choose “Import”.
  • You can also access this feature from the “Author’s study” section of the menu by choosing the “Import” subcategory.
  • Step 2.

  • You will be redirected to the Import works page.
  • We kindly ask you to add the link to your profile info on AO3 because we need to verify that the works you are trying to import are your own works.
  • Enter AO3 nickname or link to your profile in the 2nd field.
  • Step 3.

  • Once you’ve done all of that, it will take about 60 minutes to import your works from AO3.
  • You will get the notification when the import is finished. You will find all your imported works in your Drafts.
  • Please, do not remove the link from your profile during this period. Otherwise, the import will not succeed.

  • Currently we are working on the feature that will help you import your works from fanfiction.net as well. If you have in mind any other websites that you’d like to see this feature implemented for, please, send us your ideas.

    The Story of NaNoWriMo

    NaNoWriMo was a nonprofit organization that hosted an annual writing challenge: write a 50,000-word novel during the month of November. It was an inspiring event that motivated thousands of writers to unleash their creativity and stick with it year after year.

    Unfortunately, in recent years, the organization has experienced a steep decline due to lack of funding and poor management, leading to major controversies involving questionable AI sponsors and issues related to child safety.

    And finally, the organization has announced it will be shutting down and 2025 event will not happen.

    And this is where we’ve chosen to step in.

    NewNoWriMo: New Chapter

    NewNoWriMo 2025

    We genuinely believe the core idea of the event is fantastic. It provides a clear goal, a solid timeline, and a shared sense of purpose in overcoming writer’s block as a community. That’s why we’ve decided to take on the challenge and make NewNoWriMo 2025 the best version of the event to date.

    We’re bringing our 15 years of experience to make NewNoWriMo 2025 the best it can be. We believe in open dialogue and the power of community. All suggestions are welcome. You can share them here by dropping a message to support with "Ideas and suggestions" category, on our social media channels, or reach out directly via: support@fic.fan.

    • You’ll be able to participate with both original works and fanfiction, in any genre, fandom, or pairing.
    • Participation will be completely free for everyone.
    • We’re dedicating the next several months to ensure the best experience possible.
    • No AI-generated content allowed, this is a celebration of human creativity.

    About FicFan

    We are a team of writers and fanfiction enthusiasts from Europe, and many of us were part of the original development team behind ficbook.net which is a Russian-language fanfiction platform launched in 2009. Over time, Ficbook grew to more than 20 million users, becoming the second-largest fanfiction website in the world after AO3.

    In recent years, however, the Russian government passed harsh anti-LGBTQ+ laws and pressured us to remove all slash and femslash content. We were threatened with criminal charges and even physical violence. But we refused to compromise. For us, writing is about freedom of expression and community. Giving in would have meant betraying everything we’d built.

    As a result, Ficbook was banned in Russia. We lost a large portion of our audience, but many loyal writers and readers continue to access the site through VPNs.

    Since then, we’ve expanded our vision, launching multilingual platforms based on the Ficbook codebase:

    Exclusive April Fool’s Day Gifts!

    Hold onto your plot twists, fanfiction lovers!

    This April 1st only, we’re rolling out a collection of special, limited-time gifts! Because nothing says “I appreciate you” like absurdity at a bargain price. The deals are so outrageously low, even the greediest dragon would hoard them!

    Here’s only a short list of what you can grab before they disappear faster than a fanfic update after a dramatic cliffhanger:

    Master of TP-ing – A bouquet of toilet paper, because nothing is more poetic than functional romance. Whether you’re honoring a prankster, preparing for an apocalypse, or just acknowledging that sometimes life is a mess, this gift says it all.

    Badge of Honor – A medal proudly inscribed with “fool”, because embracing the chaos is the true mark of a legend. Wear it with pride, or give it to that one friend who swore they’d “just read one chapter” and now lives in an alternate reality.

    So. Much. FUN! – A scary clown is everybody’s favorite. Nothing brings people together like sheer terror. Perfect for the horror fan, the chaotic trickster, or anyone who enjoys just a little emotional scarring in their fanfiction.

    Fast & Furious Spoiler! – Give it to someone who ruined your favorite plot twist… or display it proudly as a warning that NO ONE IS SAFE.

    Mark your calendars, set your reminders, and prepare to click faster than a protagonist realizing their enemy was actually their soulmate all along. These gifts disappear at midnight, so don’t miss out! Regret lasts forever, but April Fool’s deals don’t!

    See you on April 1st!

    LoveTags 2025. A week-long challenge!

    💖 Love is in the air! And we are here to celebrate St.Valentine's with you! We invite you to participate in a week-long challenge. Authors who want to test themselves will have to write 7 (or more) works with the specified list of tags in 7 days!

    💖 Those authors who don't want to write on all of the tags provided can still participate in this challenge. However, only the authors who complete the full challenge will receive the reward of a 300 coins. To claim this reward, you will need to send a link to your collection of seven works via a CONFIRMATION FORM at the end of the event.

    From the 14 to 20 of February we will be posting one tag a day with a search link on this tag. It will be much easier for readers to follow all the works published by the authors participating in the challenge.

    ❗ Don't forget to subscribe to our official FicFest account. We will be posting a new tag each day in our blog!

    💖 Tags (every new day starts at 00:00 (EST/GMT-5):

    🎁 The authors who complete the full challenge will receive 300 coins. Coins for participation in this challenge will be distributed from the 21st to 25th of February in the order of confirmation form submission.

    💖 Dear readers, we urge you to show your love and appreciation to all the authors who decide to participate in this challenge. Don’t forget to check the tags of the challenge and send your support and good vibes.

    💖 Rules of the challenge:

    ✅ The works you submit must be marked with the tag of the day and a special event tag LoveTags 2025;

    ✅ The work you submit must be a new one (i.e., not published on FicFan previously). However, you may transfer your works from other websites if you are the author and these works match the tags we announce);

    ✅ All works can be either separate or the plot interconnected at the choice of the author;

    ✅ Each work (regardless of whether it is prose or poetry) should contain at least 700 words, including prepositions and articles, as well as have at least one completed semantic block by the end of the challenge (chapter, part);

    ✅ Your work may be fandom-based or original, any type, and contain any tags, but the plot should be focused mainly on the tag of the day;

    ✅ You may publish a translation on condition you have original author’s permission for that and the original text matches the tag of the day;

    ✅ You may choose an existing Request to base your work on as long as your work matches the tag of the day;

    ✅ You can work with co-authors, betas and gammas, but only the main author who submits the confirmation form will get the coins;

    ✅ During the week you may use the same or different fandoms and any pairings you like;

    ✅ After the challenge is over you may feel free to continue the story if you wish;

    ✅ You can choose any rating you want, and you may use different rating for different works during the challenge week;

    ✅ You may write as many works as you want with the tags of the day. Please, keep in mind that only the authors who complete the full challenge and use every tag provided will receive the reward of 300 coins;

    ✅ Сollaborative writing teams are welcome to participate (but in this case only one author will get the reward);

    ✅ You may publish each work as a separate one or as a collection of drabbles with the challenge tags for each part. If you choose to publish the collection of drabbles, you should add a new tag every time you publish a new part;

    ✅ You may publish work late during the week of the event or in random order. For example, if you decide to publish your work when a new tag is already announced, you can do that. But keep in mind that in this case, your work might get less attention from the readers.

    🚫 It is prohibited to:

    🚫 Assign a special challenge tag to the works that were published before the challenge week;

    🚫 Assign a special challenge tag to the works that will be published after the challenge week;

    🚫 Assign a special challenge tag to the works that don't comply with the rules of the challenge;

    🚫 Publish works that violate the Rules of our website (otherwise, you will be banned).

    ❗ If you have any questions, you can always send them to our official account for events. Drop a message to FicFest account

    💖 And don't forget to check out new gifts that are available only for limited time! 💖

    A prompt a day...

    New Year is the time when we all start something new. Let’s try to make writing a habit with our new monthly challenge for authors “Monthly prompts” in 2025!

    Every month we will publish a list of prompts that you can use for inspiration and as a useful writer’s exercise. There will be a prompt for every day of every month available for you to work with. For example, there are 31 days in January, so you will get 31 prompts for this month.

    A challenge is a challenge, and it must be rewarded, right?

    At the end of the challenge we will randomly pick 3 lucky authors who will get prizes!

    First place: 1 month of Premium Account
    Second place: 100 coins
    Third place: 50 coins

    How will the three Winners be picked? That’s an excellent question!

    The more works based on the monthly prompts you publish, the more chances you get to win!

    For example, Author A published 10 works, Author B published 5 works, Author C published 2 works. Author A will be mentioned in our randomizer 10 times, author B – 5 times, Author C – 2 times. At the end of the month, we will run the randomizer and get the names of the winners!

    Note: one person can get only one prize, so everyone has a chance to win.

    The conditions of the challenge are following:

    – Each work should contain a minimum of 300 words;

    – Each work must be a new one, (i.e., not published on FicFan previously);

    – Each work of this challenge must have a tag Monthly prompts;

    – Write the prompts you are using in the notes to the work, so we could check it up;

    – You may post works based on prompts during the whole month;

    – The challenge finishes with the beginning of the next month!

    If you have any questions, you can always send them to our official account for events. Drop a message to FicFest account. We will be happy to help you!
