The corpse continent series book 1: The boy named Dragon

When Hecate was a little girl she lived in the city of Allura but never felt like she belonged so spent most of her time in nature exploring the forest and collected rare plants and flowers grinding them up and mixing them to create elixirs each one had a different effect one could heal burns some could heal cuts and bruises and these elixirs made well known in Allura and beyond but instead of staying in Allura she decided to travel between the three cities and each time she would visit and leave a place she would leave with a companion who asked to learn from her how to create elixirs After a few years after leaving Allura Hecate was now a leader of a traveling group of healers that was constantly growing and earned themselves the name 'The Arcane clan'. one day Hecate was experimenting with new kind of elixir and decided to test on herself and to her welcomed surprise she was pregnant and when people asked about the father she would tell them there was no father and she got pregnant on her own most didn't believe her but those who traveled with her knew what she was capable of and knew their was no one she spent a lot of time with and when Hela was born with two different eye colors and hair split between black and white Hecate chalked it up to minor imperfections in the elixir but she didn't care about that she was happy to have a child A month after giving birth she was collecting mushrooms and herbs she came across a pregnant woman walking alone in the woods near Rahara and with hesitation Hecate offered help and soon the Arcane clan had a new member that woman was Dominique and after a few months she gave birth to healthy baby boy they named Dragon and the two of them raised their children together "And when Dragon turned 10 he convinced his mother to finally to give me my first tattoo." Dragon added while showing his back tattoo to Husk, him, Hecate and Dominique laughed Hela gave an exhausted sigh and while they talked someone finally asked Husk how he got his burns and he told him about the wyvern he came across and the moment he mentions a wyvern everyone went silent and Dragon leaned to Hela and asked "What's a wyvern again?" Hela took out a book of the wild life of the continent and flipped to the pages and landing on the wyvern Descriptions read 'a wyvern is a large reptile with massive wings for fore arms a long tail and powerful hind legs and most famously their ability to breath fire an trait they gained from their ancestors who drank the blood of the flaming titan after their death. Wyverns have been known for their aggressive nature and known as persistent hunters never letting their prey escape once they set their sights on them.' Once they read that last part both Hela and Dragon understood the silence and he broke it when he asked a question "If a wyvern won't let their prey escape doesn't that mean it's close by?" Once this question was asked everyone's sense of fear into absolute terror and in their stunned silence they heard something big approaching them and when they heard it's deep growl from the trees the entire Arcane clan was paralyzed with fear and the wyvern locked eyes with Husk it saw it's prey. Husk grabbed Hecate's arm hoping she would save him, as she tried to wrestle away from him she told Dominique "Get the children out of here now." And when she turned to Husk demanding that he lets her go but he wanted to use her as shield but their fighting made made everyone begin to panic and their panic made the urged the wyvern to attack first it ran at Husk and both him and Hecate were in the beast mouths and after they were swallowed the wyvern turn it's attention to the rest of the arcane clans people and unleashed fire on them burning and eating everyone in sight While fire spread across the forest and engulfing every person both Dragon and Hela grew up knowing the people who taught them how to fish, cook and helped their mothers take care of them and when Dominique hid Dragon and Hela under a tree and went back to try and save as many as she can and when she tried to save a little girl but the both of them were noticed by the wyvern and burnt to death and when the wyvern was done it flew away and that night when the fire finally died out Dragon and Hela came from where they hiding When they came out all the was scorched earth and the burnt corpses of the their family and all they did was cry and after several hours they both ran out of tears to shed and in place of grief and sadness anger took over and Dragon turned to Hela and asked her "Want to help me kill wyvern?" Hela only gave a single response "Yes." and the two of went around their burnt camp site and dug graves for the dead but when Dragon came across his mothers his shook at the thought of burying her but he did so anyway because it would worse to just leave her there and when he was done he found Hela standing behind and when she saw the look on his face she gave him a hug and he hugged her back and this was the pattern every time they buried someone they would give each other a hug afterwards it was helpful By the time they were done the sun had risen and had reach high noon and for a moment the two stood silent and then Dragon took a deep breathe and asked "Which direction is the closest city?" Hela thinking for a moment and pointing north "The closest city is Allura." They packed anything that survived and what they could carry and headed for Allura and hunt a wyvern
