Part 1: The Boiling Islands.

Episode 2: Witches Before Wizards.

The camera switches to a sleeping Diana, and the symbol on her neck begins to glow yellow-green. Diana felt the burning sensation again, rolled over, and touched her neck where the black symbol had been. Suddenly, o!Diana had a dream about how she and Luz ended up on the Boiling Islands and spent the whole day there. Diana's yellow-green eyes widened, she stood up abruptly, and rubbed her eyes. Diana: (yawns) So this isn't a dream? (whispers) She pulled a small box of clear lenses from the pocket of her white shorts. Diana: (to herself) A new day, and may it be beautiful. It took her about ten seconds to insert the clear lenses, as without them she could barely see. Everything was foggy, almost like darkness. When she succeeded, *(Diana)* blinked a few times, and the world became clear and crisp. Diana: (relieved) As usual, no more than ten seconds. (whispering) Diana turned her head towards Luz, who was fast asleep and whispering something. Luz: (sleep talking) Dee... (whispering half of her friend's name) Diana smiled softly, noticing that Luz sometimes called her Dee—it's her nickname; she has other nicknames, too, like Dina and Dana. Diana only allows close friends and family members to call her by her nickname and forbids strangers from doing so. But if someone continues to call her by her nickname, Diana gets irritated and has a special conversation with them. Diana sighed and grabbed yesterday's clothes. She left the attic, found a large closet, and opened it to change. Soon, Diana was in her school uniform. Then she tucked her bangs under her hair and pinned them with two bobby pins to hide them, and it worked. She went back to the attic and pulled out some black nail polish from her backpack. Diana: (Thinking) Today is the perfect day for a change and a new style. (She mused, a smirk on her face, and began painting her nails.) Five minutes later, her best friend, Luz Noceda, suddenly opened her eyes and froze. She looked away, then looked at Diana. Diana: (She smiled at her.) Good morning, Luz. (She said, blowing on her nails to help the black polish dry faster.) Luz: (Happily) This isn't a dream! Luz goes to the window and opens it. Luz: Good morning, scary fairytale world. She notices a hideous sea monster. Sea Monster: (waves a tentacle) Good morning. (He said this to her and swam away.) Luz flinches in surprise, then walks over to the sleeping king and picks him up. Luz: Good morning, my sweet. (She kissed him.) King: (Trying to get out.) I'm not your sweet little thing! Luz: (Hugs him.) You're so sweet! (She says this as she lays him down on the sleeping bag.) King: (Lies down on him.) Indeed. Diana: (whispering) Oh my god, he's so cute. (She squealed with delight.) Luz, fully dressed, opens the bathroom door. Several owls hoot as they fly out, and Diana watches them solemnly as they fly away. Diana: (pondering) Yeah, Ida needs to clean the house, the owls are already flying around. (She pauses and crosses her arms over her chest.) Actually, Diana is a neat freak and loves cleaning the house, washing dishes, and so on. Luz watches them go before entering. Suddenly, Hootie appears, startling Luz. Hootie: Hey, Luz! She startles him with karate chops and punches him in the face. At that moment, Diana enters the bathroom. Diana: (concerned) What's all that screaming? What happened? Hootie: (explains offendedly) I just wanted to say hi to your friend. Diana's eyes widened at first, then she glared at Hootie and placed her hands on her hips. Diana: (sternly) What are you doing? This is a girls' restroom. Didn't they teach you not to peek at girls? (She looked at Hootie suspiciously.) Hootie: (sadly) I wasn't peeking. (He told her and left.) Diana: (thoughtfully) I didn't mean to offend him, but he needs to understand what personal space means for girls and boys. (She paused for thought, then suddenly came to her senses.) Okay, Luz, I'll wait for you outside the door, and when you're done, I'll go wash up. (She said this to Luz, who nodded, and Diana left the bathroom.) Luz walked over to the mirror and held the book out in front of her. Luz: That's it, old lady. Your first day with your best friend on the Boiling Islands... as a witch apprentice! And Diana... as a High Priestess Kunoichi! (She joyfully pointed to the mirror.) Luz left the bathroom, and Diana entered and also went to the mirror. First, she brushed her teeth and washed her face, then left the bathroom and approached Luz, who was standing by the closet. Luz: Please, let it be witch clothes and reaper clothes. She opens the closet and sees something resembling typical witch and reaper attire, but it's just a few robes. Luz: (happily) Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! (then she cries joyfully) Diana rolled her eyes tenderly at Luce's reaction and crossed her arms over her chest. Luz: (pulls out two robes, black and white) Diana, which one do you like better? (she asks with interest) Diana walked over and took the black robe, then pulled out a black sash and handed it to Luz. Diana: (explaining) A black robe with a white sash will suit me, and a white robe with a black sash will suit you. (telling her) Luz smiled shyly and took the black sash from her. Luz writes "Witch Apprentice Luz" on her name tag, and Diana writes "Reaper Kunoichi Diana." Luz: (happily) How do you like that? Diana: (grinning) You and I are like yin and yang. (addressing her) Luz appears on the screen, wearing a white robe with a black sash, a black witch's hat or something similar, and Diana is wearing a black robe with a white sash. They are both standing at the foot of the stairs. Luce hears the toilet flush. At that moment, Eda appears, dressed in loungewear: a crimson sweater, a long blue skirt, and yellow bunny slippers. She yawns and looks at the two girls. Luz: (happily) Good morning, Eda, Ms. Owl. I'm ready for my first day of witch training. Diana: (smirking and crossing her arms) So, old lady, what's my first martial arts lesson going to be? (she asks with interest) Ida: Remind me, who are you? At these words, Luz's smile vanished, her badge fell to the floor, and Diana looked at Eda suspiciously. Diana: (pondering) Does she have dementia?

The first musical introduction for the first half of the first season - from episodes 2 to 10.

At the beginning, the door opens, and Diana and Luce fall headfirst from the sky to the sound of music. Diana's bangs cover her yellow-green eyes. But at that moment, Eda, flying on her staff with the King, catches them. As Luce and Diana mount Eda's staff, Diana tucks her bangs under her hair and pins them with two bobby pins to hide them, and it works. They all fly to the Owl House. The door to the Owl House opens, and Luce enters with Eda's staff, but Eda takes it. Luce looks sad, but Diana appears and roughly pushes Eda away. She then removes the miniature Death Scythe, a gift from Undertaker, from around her neck and snaps her fingers. The Death Scythe returns to its normal size, and Diana hands it to Luce, who joyfully and carefully takes it, while Diana only smiles softly. At this moment, Eda stands up and looks at them with understanding. A mural then appears, depicting Willow, Gus, Bosha, and Amity from four angles: Willow clasps her hands in a heart shape, Gus raises his arms triumphantly, Bosha turns her back but briefly looks at the camera with a blush on her cheeks and a gentle smile, then crosses her arms, closes her eyes, and turns away from the camera completely, while Amity turns her back to the camera with her eyes closed. The King tries to look intimidating surrounded by falling plushies. In this shot, Diana, with her bangs completely covering her yellow-green eyes, and Luce are flying through the town of Bonesbrough on Eda's staff. Diana controls the staff, while Luce sits behind her, clinging to it. They encounter the long-nosed captive Tinella Nosa, and then Willow and Gus, to whom they high-five before being overtaken by the Emperor's Coven. Diana and Luce lift Eda and the King. They flip over, and Luse grabs her staff in panic, while Diana quickly removes the miniature Death Scythe from around her neck, snaps her fingers, and the scythe returns to its normal size. Diana jumps up and quickly turns to face the pursuing monster, then slashes at it with Death's Scythe, killing it instantly. In the next shot, Bosha is walking and talking on the phone, then notices Diana, who is flying on Eda's staff along with Luz and the others. Unaware of Bosha's presence, Diana snaps her fingers, shrinking the Death Scythe. She then places it around her neck, hiding it under her blouse. Bosha, having seen Diana's Death Scythe with her own eyes, drops the phone and is speechless. The last two shots—the first shot—are Night. Luz, Eda, and the King are standing on the roof of the Owl House. Luz creates a symbol of light that rises upward. In the final shot, Diana is lying on the floor of the attic, writing in her diary. Suddenly, the room begins to shake, and Diana quickly rises to her feet, noticing something that shocks her. She sees that she is standing directly on a huge red petrogram with a star in the center of the circle. The petrogram begins to glow bright green, and Diana drops the diary onto the petrogram, then covers her face with her hands to protect her eyes from the bright light. And at that moment, we see the night sky with the caption "OWL'S HOUSE. Created by Dana Teras."

End of the first musical intro of the first half of season one, episodes 2-10.

The camera switches to Diana and Luce, who follow Eda into the kitchen. Luz: Remember us? I'm Luz (she gestures to her friend) and Diana? Together, we freed the oppressed and defeated the evil overseer? Yesterday? (She looks offended.) Diana: (Glances at Eda with disapproval.) Are you mentally retarded? (Begins to get angry.) How could you forget about us in just one day?! (Raises her voice.) Eda flinches at her tone and holds out her hands. Eda: (Trying to calm her down.) Hush, hush, hush, baby, calm down. (Takes the mug.) I just woke up and haven't finished my mug of apple blood yet. (Tells her.) Luz: (Deciding to speak up.) You mean apple juice? Ida: (Quickly answers.) No. Ida sits at the kitchen table, drinking from her mug. The King sits on a high chair, poking a yellow gooey mess of eyes on his plate with a fork. Diana sighed and walked over to Ida, offering her her hand. Diana: (asks) Well, let me try it for comparison? (Her voice sounded interested.) Ida stopped drinking and looked at her questioningly. Ida: Are you sure? (She asked, and Diana nodded.) Okay, just don't apologize. (Hands her the mug.) Diana took the mug and sniffed the liquid inside. Luz approaches her. Luz: (interested) Well? Diana: (explaining to her) Well, it smells like our apples, only sweeter. She takes a sip, her eyes widen, then swallows the liquid and looks at Ida in shock. Ida: (trying to hide the nervousness in her voice) I told you so. Diana: (puts the mug on the counter) Are you serious? Luz: (confused) What's so bad? Diana: (starts to explain) It tastes like our apple juice, only with caramel or something like caramel. Luz: So what? Diana: (finishes explanation) With a little alcohol. Luz: (yelling) What? (then worriedly) Are you dizzy? Diana goes to the cupboard upstairs and tries to find a lemon. She finds one, then dumps the rest of the apple juice out of her mug, pours clean tap water into it, drips about fifteen drops of lemon juice into the mug, counting them out loud, and then drinks the lemon-infused water. Ida watches this, her mouth slightly open. Diana: (relieved) It's not mineral water with lemon, but it's fine for regular lemon water. (She looked at Luz.) Don't worry, I'm fine. (Luz sighed with relief, and Diana looked at Ida.) What are you looking at? Ida: (shaking her head.) It's just that Undertaker taught Yana how to cure a hangover, and you have his habit, and at the same time, you're just like Yana. (Explaining to her.) Diana: (Quickly answered and smiled.) I see. It's a family trait. Ida: (thinking) She's wrong. She inherited a lot from her parents, but mostly from Undertaker. (She pauses and sighs.) Luz: (enthusiastically) Teach me some spells. When will I get a magic staff? Did I have to bring my runes? Do you have a dangerous magic task for me? Ida: Hey, hey, hey, hey, easy there, kiddo. You don't become a witch overnight. (gestures at Diana, then at Luz.) By the way, you're both wearing robes, and you have the dirtiest traffic cone on your head I've ever seen. (addressing her.) Luz takes off her hat and blows off the dust, revealing a traffic cone underneath. The King laughs, and Diana simply sighs and rolls her eyes. Diana: (pondering) I need to clean the house today. (she doesn't like it) Ida: (grinning) What about the magic staff? Are you sure you need it? Luz: (pressing her hands to her cheeks and smiling) More than anything. Ida reaches out to summon her magic staff. Ida: Magic staff, fly here! For a few seconds, nothing happens. Then a crash is heard in the distance. The King, Luz, Diana, and Ida slowly turn toward the sound, and at that moment, Ida's staff appears and hits her in the face, falling to the ground with a clatter. Ida suddenly raises her staff, spins it around, and slams it to the ground. Ida: (explaining) It's too early. Witches receive their staffs at school. But with you, as my student, the approach will be different. (she looked at Diana) A little later, I will remove the seal from your neck... (she paused) Diana: (raises an eyebrow questioningly) What seal? On my neck? Ida: (explains to her) It's a magical seal your biological mother placed on you so you would grow up like a normal child, without her peculiarities. Yana and Undertaker tried to protect you from their enemies. Diana: (clarifies) So they sent me to the human world to protect me? And when you remove it, I won't change much? (She looks at Ida seriously) Ida: (quickly answers) You'll find out tonight. (She said this with a smirk on her face, Diana rolled her eyes, and Luz patted her on the shoulder.) Ida hands Luz a bag of human belongings, after which Diana and Luz go after Eda. Ida: (explaining) I have several businesses. On weekends, I sell rare human treasures that Sovbret steals from your side of reality. Ida picks up a toy sword and presses a button near the hilt, causing it to make a sound. She tosses the sword aside. Ida: (continuing to explain) But most often, I sell only the finest homemade potions and elixirs. Luz takes a vial from her bag and reads the contents aloud. Luz: (reading aloud) "Snake oil." Ida: A snake without venom is of no use to anyone. Follow me. (She said and walked away.) Luz immediately followed Ida, and Diana looked after her with displeasure for a few seconds. Diana: (Thinking) They're alive and they understand everything. (She paused for thought and ran to catch up with them.) Cut to: Diana, Luz, and Ida walking out onto the balcony. Ida: (Explaining) Today, you'll both be delivering packages and selling potions in this town, Bonesborough. You need to be careful. I have a ton of competitors who are eager to shut down my business, and you, too. (She looked at Diana.) No, you first. Diana: (crossing her arms) Because I'm half Reaper? Ida: (nodding) Exactly. And by the way, you should close your eyes, otherwise they'll immediately know you're a Reaper. (She told her.) Diana runs her hand under her hair, finds two bobby pins, and pulls them out. Then she shakes her head from side to side, and her long bangs instantly fall over her eyes, completely covering them. She hands the bobby pins to Luz, who tucks them into the pocket of her leather shorts. Diana: (She grinned, revealing sharp teeth, and touched her finger to her teeth.) Well, is that okay? (she asked.) Ida: (Goosebumps ran through her.) You know, you look more like your biological father, even though without the bangs, you're just a carbon copy. (she said.) Diana: (interestedly) Can he see through his bangs too? And does he, like me, sometimes hide his eyes behind them? Ida: (Explaining) You inherited one of Yana's abilities that didn't disappear with the seal. This ability is called "transparent bangs," and it allows you to see everything as if you were wearing glasses or clear lenses. Your biological father, on the other hand, navigates the city using his hearing and smell. Luz: (with a hint of surprise and admiration in her voice) I've always wondered why you can see so well through your bangs. But now it all makes sense. (she said) Diana ruffled her best friend's hair. Diana: I know, Luz, now let's finish Eda's task. Luz touched her bangs and giggled shyly, just as her bag fell off the balcony and shattered. Luz: (Sorry) Oh. Sorry, Eda, it was an accident. Ida: (Looking at her) I understand. A shot from the living room, where Eda pushes two girls out the door with a new bag of potions. Eda: Remember: never meet a man in sandals, and always measure twice, cut once. (She looked at Diana.) And don't talk to a man whose eyes are golden, like a snake's. (She said sternly to Diana.) Diana: (Because of her bangs, it was impossible to tell what kind of look she was giving him, but there was surprise in her voice.) With whom? Eda uses her magic to close the door. Eda: Good luck! (The door had already closed on the girls.) She dusted off her hands and looked at the king, who was resting while Luz and Diana eavesdropped on Eda's conversation with the king. Ida: I hate to interrupt your sound sleep, but you'll have to go with them. King: (disgruntled) What? But I just found the perfect spot, why would I go anywhere else? Ida: (explaining) We both know Luz will either get lost or eaten—both. Luz: (presses her face against the window) No, that won't happen. Ida closes the window with magic. King: But she has Diana, who can protect her. Ida: What are you forgetting? (She starts to get nervous.) If even one hair falls from Diana's head, her mother will tear it all out, and her dear, loving husband... (Interrupts her.) King: (Giving up.) Okay, I'll be going. (He glanced at her.) Don't worry so much, Yana is your best friend, and she won't hurt you. (With that, he jumped down.) The King approached the girls, and Ida looked at them one last time. Ida: Return before midnight, or you will die. (She told them this and closed the door.) Diana: (Thinking.) Is my biological mother at odds with Ida? (She paused.) Hootie: Have a good trip. (He told them.) Diana: (Apologizing to him) Hootie, forgive me for that incident in the bathroom. Hootie: I'm not mad at you. (She said this, and Diana smiled at her.) King: The sooner we start, the sooner we'll finish. (With these words, he left with the girls.) The entrance to Bonesborough. Diana, Luce, and King pass through an arch. If you step back, you can see the walls on either side of the arch, covered with "Wanted" posters. Demons of all stripes pass by. Seeing them, Diana smiles predatorily, baring her sharp teeth and running her tongue over her lips, while Luce looks at each of them in amazement. Diana: (Thoughts) Wow. I'll have to study these a little later. (She thought.) King: Diana, behave yourself. The predatory smile vanished from Diana's face, giving way to a weak smirk. Diana: (understandingly) Okay, King, but I'm still curious. (She told him, and the King merely waved his paw, saying nothing.) Luz: I've only seen places like this in my dreams. It's incredible. And I'm here alone. Diana: (interestedly) Have my biological parents ever been to the Boiling Islands? King: (answering their questions) The last time Ida and I saw Yana was a year ago, and the last time Ida saw Undertaker was when you were born. I haven't seen the others. Diana: (clarifying) My biological mother was on the Boiling Isles a year ago, when I was eleven, right? (King nods) And my biological father was on the Boiling Isles twelve years ago? (King nods again) Does that mean my biological father doesn't like Eda? (she told him) King: (explaining) He's not disgusted by her, he just has his own problems. Diana: (calmly) I see. Luz: There has to be a reason, right? Why am I here? What if I, Luz Noceda, an ordinary teenage girl, actually have... a predestined path to greatness? Like Azura! King: Yes. Azura's path to greatness also involved delivering boil cream? Luz: (resolutely) Today I'm delivering packages, but tomorrow I'll earn the respect of all the inhabitants of the Boiling Islands with my magical prowess. Diana: (smiling) You're right. And by the way, your names are similar. (She supported her, and Luz smiled back.) King: (explaining) Ha! Good luck. The Boiling Islands are nothing but a cesspool of despair. Luz: It's more like a pleasure cesspool. (She told him.) Luz puts the cream back in her bag, slings it over her shoulder, and looks around. She heads toward the market, where she approaches a centaur holding a pumpkin in front of him. Luz tries to sell him some potions, but discovers his face is on his chest, and she's talking to the wrong place. Luz winces. Cut to the house scene where Luce rings the doorbell. She leaves her hand on the button, and the bell digs into her palm. At that moment, Diana gently takes Luce's hand and pulls her away from the doorbell, and the King leaves, irritated. Diana: (with concern in her voice) How's your hand? (asks, examining her palm) Luz: (with a blush on her cheeks) Y-yeah... everything's fine. (lets go of her hand and looks at her palm) No teeth marks. (explains to her, looking away) Diana (with relief): I see. A scene on the side of the road, where Luce, Diana, and King are sitting, who is tucking into a "not-dog" from a cart behind them. Luce looks sad and disappointed, and Diana puts her hand on her shoulder. King: I know, I've been stressed enough today. Luz: I thought being the only one in the magical world would make me special. (Pulls out a book, "The Good Witch Azura.") But really, everyone's yelling at me or... wanting to eat me. (She sighs sadly and looks at the book.) By then, Azura had already gone off in search of enchanted objects. (Shows them a picture from the book.) Where are my quest and the witch? Diana stood up and walked over to Luz. Luz looked at her. Diana: (supporting her) Luz, don't be sad. You will receive a magical task... (gestures to the side) from your last client, and then a magical staff like Eda's. (Then she touched the image of Azura with her finger.) And you will become just like her—a great sorceress. (She explained to her.) Luz looked at her best friend and smiled happily. She hugged Diana, who returned the hug. Luz: (happily) You think so? Diana: (smiling tenderly) Of course, brown-eyed. And I'm glad you're my friend. (She grinned and took Luz's hand.) Now let's run, we need to give the potion to the last customer. Luz smiled, her cheeks flushed, and they both ran to the last customer, the king chasing after them. The three of them ran down the alley, then stopped, and Luz, squealing with joy, released Diana's hand. They saw a large castle with golden flags illuminated by the sun. The doorbell was also golden, and the tall wooden doors slid open when Luz pressed the button. Diana: (thinking) A fairytale castle, like the princesses on the Boiling Isles? (Because of her bangs, it was impossible to tell what she was looking at, but she eyed the castle suspiciously.) It's a trap for Luce, but I won't fall for it. (she thought) King: (explaining) Big houses always belong to big lunatics. Let's just drop the package there and go. Luz ignores him and runs off, and Diana quickly glances at the King and whispers something in his ear. Diana: (whispering) I agree with you. This castle is for psychopathic maniacs. She grabbed the surprised King and ran to catch up with Luce. The door closed, and they ran inside. Luz: (explaining) I'm delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady. The lanterns flicker on in the room, illuminating the vast library. They illuminate the grand staircase, above which hangs a portrait of a wizard. This wizard enters the room in the same pose as in the portrait. Luz: (happily) The day just turned beautiful. A wizard! Diana finds this castle and the wizard both disgusting and suspicious, but tries not to let Luce know it. Diana: (to herself) This is definitely a trap. He looks like a pedophile. (The thought sent shivers down her spine.) King: Slang for pajamas and nightgowns. This made Diana giggle softly. Wizard: (descending the stairs) I was in my oscillary, studying the star charts. And who are you, looking at me so curiously? Luz: (hesitantly) I-I... Wizard: (looking at Luce) Young lady, dare I say I sense something unusual about you. (addressing Diana) And you must be that little lady, her friend? Diana felt even more disgusted by the word "little," but she pulled herself together and smiled innocently at him, while King looked at her questioningly. Diana: (with an innocent smile) Yes, she is my friend, Grandpa the Wizard. (She told him this in a quiet, innocent voice.) Wizard: Please, would you like to stay for tea? The wizard summons three chairs and a table with cookies. He sits down on the white throne. Luz: Good. King: (jumps onto Luce's neck) Let's go! Wizards are just old men with glitter in their pockets. (squints suspiciously) I don't trust him. Luz carelessly ignores the king's warnings, mesmerized by the fox cub in the wizard's beard. The fox cub giggled. Luz notices the cookies on the table, and the king enthusiastically rushes to get them. Diana: (pondering) So, Diana, be patient for Luce's sake. (She pauses and sighs.) Both girls followed the King and sat down on chairs. Luce: We'd love to stay for tea. (She takes a cup of tea and notices a cart with potions.) Do you sell potions, sir mage? Meanwhile, Diana cautiously tastes a cookie and is surprised. Diana: (pondering) Well, the cookies are fine. (She snorts softly.) But my homemade cookies are a thousand times better. (She pauses and smiles.) Adegast: Please, call me Adegast. Yes, ma'am, I run a small business. King: I wish you had your own business making cookies to put in my mouth. (Laughs) Yes! Adegast: I didn't expect to see you here. As far as I understand, Ida delivers her own goods. Luz: Well, Diana and I are sort of her apprentices. Adegast: (interested) How was that experience? Diana: (takes a sip of tea) Well, a C-minus. (she says calmly) Luz: (disappointed and sad) Can I be honest with you, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world with my friend, I thought I was destined for something special. But Ida thinks I'm only destined to do my duty, and I'm afraid I'm in the wrong place. Adegast: Well, I have a task... Luz: (happily) A quest? Diana: (thoughtfully) He was definitely eavesdropping on us on the city streets today. (She sipped tea, and her gaze from under her bangs was serious, with a hint of distrust for this wizard.) Adegast: (looking at Luz) You didn't let me finish. I have a question. Luz looked slightly sad. Adegast: (looking at Luz) Do you want to go on a quest? Luz: (happily) Yes! Adegast: (pulling out a magic scroll) Perhaps I have exactly what you're looking for. (opens the scroll) The prophecy speaks of a young girl who will wield the Heavenly Staff and free this world from an ancient evil. Perhaps you came here for a reason. Diana: (thoughtfully) Come on, come on, keep lying, I'll never believe this nonsense. (puts down the cup) When we return to the Owl House, I'll talk to Eda, and she'll punish you. (thoughtfully) Luz: Perhaps. Adegast: Before you decide you're worthy of this test... Diana, the King, and Luz followed Adegast. Luz: So worthy. Adegast: You should know that the road is dark and dangerous. Luz: I like to take risks. I'm a great risk-taker. Adegast: And only the Chosen One can remove the staff from its pedestal. Luz: (surprised) The Chosen One. Diana: (pretending to be surprised and covering her mouth with her hand) My friend, the Chosen One? (she says) King: Interesting story, cool. Anyway, your food's gone, and we'll be leaving soon too. Luz: Yes, we should go. (She jumped up and down happily.) And get ready for a magical adventure! I'm swami. Adegast: (Claps her hands.) Wonderful. In the owl house—in the attic. The camera cuts to Luce, who is sitting on the floor, sheathing the toy sword she recently used. Scattered around her are various potions, food, a quest scroll, and, of course, her book, "Azura." Then the camera cuts to Diana, who has already managed to tuck her bangs under her hair and secure them with two bobby pins to hide them. She stood next to the king, watching Luz pack for the journey. Luz: (She looked at Diana.) Diana, I want to ask, what kind of Chosen One should I be? Should I be full of optimism and virtue, like the Good Witch Azura? Or should I be a bad girl, a Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysterious aloofness? (Opens and closes the book.) "I pretend I don't care, but I really do." Diana: (explaining) It suits you to be kind and sincere, not bad. It doesn't suit you to be bad. Luz: (understanding) I see. (then looks at Diana with interest) And how do you see me? Diana: (She put her finger to her lips and began to speak.) Luz, I see in you a girl who, in the future, will be able to melt the icy heart of a certain bad guy, and a little later, you will become a happy family. (She explained and smiled.) Luz blushed at Diana's explanation and turned away. Luz: (embarrassed) Y-you... see me like that? Diana: (nods) Yes. Luz: (embarrassed) By the way, have you... ever been in a relationship? Diana: (crossed her arms and shook her head) I'm not ready to date anyone yet. Because I haven't met the one yet. (She looked at Luz.) Why did you suddenly ask that? (She feigned confusion.) Luz: (waved her hand) Okay... forget it. (She looked at Diana and smiled.) Diana just sighed. Diana: (to herself) Silly, I'm not blind. She's been in love with me for a long time and is trying to hide her feelings, but she's not doing a good job. (She sighed again and turned away.) Forgive me, but to me, you're like a little sister who needs to be protected from harm and suffering. And I hope that in the future, she meets a wonderful man who can love her with all his heart. (She thought.) At that moment, Ida appears. Ida: (smirks) You mean guys and bad girls? (then seriously) Wait, what's going on? King: Ida, tell Luz how stupid wizards are. Ida: (sighs and rolls her eyes) Wizards are just awful. Never trust a man in casual clothes. (then looks at the King) What happened? King: (starts laughing) Your wizard client told Luz... that she's... the Chosen One! (bursts out laughing) Ida: Wait, wait, Luz? (She rolls on the floor, clutching her stomach, and bursts out laughing.) King: He gave her a map. Diana clenched her fists, and her yellow-green eyes flashed a bright yellow-green light of anger for a few seconds, but no one noticed, and Luz sheepishly hid her face in her book. Diana: (Thinking) First, we'll save my best friend from Adegast together, and then I'll give you a good spanking. (She thought for a moment and calmed down.) Ida stops laughing and stands up, and the king stops laughing too. Ida: Let me see this map. (She walked over to her.) Luz hands her the map. Ida: (Quickly glanced at the map.) You didn't think this was real, did you? Luz: What? Diana: (Pretending to be surprised and upset.) Are you sure? Ida: (Explaining.) This map is fake. There's no one on the Boiling Isles with the Celestial Staff. Otherwise, I would have stolen it a hundred years ago. Ida notices the sad expressions on Diana and Luce's faces. Ida: (Trying to cheer them up) Oh, don't worry. (She patted the girls' heads in turn.) Just hold out for a couple more months, and you both won't fall for this. Luce: (Removes Ida's hand from her head.) Can I have some time alone with Diana? Diana: (Feigns sadness.) We're not in the mood. Ida shrugged and left the attic with the king. The door closed, plunging the room into shadow. Luce leaned against the wall and slid to the floor. Sunlight illuminated one corner of the map, and the word "one" appeared on it in bright blue letters. Luce held the map up to the light, and the inscription appeared: "The Chosen One... The path will be worthy only for the worthy." Luce jumps to her feet happily and shows the map to Diana. Luz: (happily) Dee, look at the card. Diana takes the card, looks at it, then pretends not to understand and looks at Luz. Diana: (pretends confused) What are you talking about? I can't see a single letter. Luz: (surprised) What do you mean? But it's written right here. Diana: What if... (she covers her mouth with her hands and pretends to be very happy) this card senses that you are the Chosen One, just like the wizard grandfather said in that legend. Luz: That's why you and Eda... (she is interrupted) The wind howls and blows open the window. The map slips from Diana's hands and lands next to the book. The wind turns the pages, and we see Azura, beloved and triumphant, on a small hill. People around her applaud, and she raises her staff to the sun. Luz: (resolutely) Dee, I'll go and get that staff. (She began packing.) Diana: (with feigned joy) Luz, I believe in you! Luz gathered her things and, with a smile on her face, thanked Diana, then carefully climbed out the window. Diana smiled with feigned joy and waved, but then her smile faded, her hand dropped, and her gaze became serious, even cold. Diana: (to herself) That old wizard will pay for trying to deceive my friend. (She touches her fingertips to her blouse where the Death Scythe is hidden.) In the living room. The camera switches to the king, lying on the sofa. King: Finally! All this cruel laughter is making me sleepy. Ida: (approaches him) Get up, little brother. You said the wizard was one of my clients. (she looks at him seriously) King: Yes. Now go. Ida: I don't know him very well. (sits down on the sofa) And I don't trust the inclinations he encourages in people, including Diana. Even Diana fell for it, and I thought she didn't trust strangers. King: Talk less, sleep more. Ida sighed heavily and stood up, and at that moment, Diana swung the door open and screamed. Diana: (shouting) Old woman, quickly take the staff and the king and go. We're going to save Luce from the magical bandit! Ida fell onto the couch in surprise, and the king jumped up and landed right in her arms. Ida: (gulping) D-Diana, why are you screaming like that? (she understood) I was just about to go get Luz, but she's already gone, right? (she stands up and puts King down on the floor) Diana: (approaching her) Exactly, old woman. (Her eyes flashed a bright yellow-green.) Now gather your people, and we'll fly to that bandit's castle first, so I can threaten him, and he'll just tell me where that stupid staff is, where the staff is, and where my close friend is. (She gave the order and raised the King.) Ida sweated nervously and summoned her magic staff. Ida: (thoughtfully) And now she's so much like Yana and a little like Kushina Uzumaki, who's ready to kill anyone to protect and care for her beloved son. (She gulped.) Diana is like a little sister or a daughter to Luce. (She sighed.) And Undertaker would react exactly the same way if Diana were in trouble. (She thought for a moment.) Diana reached under her hair and pulled out the pins, then shook her head from side to side, her bangs falling over her eyes, completely covering them. Diana (whispering): Don't worry, Luz, we'll save you. At Luz's. The shot shows a sign marking the town limits of Bonesborough, near where Luz is. She jumps and slides down a slope, then climbs over a fallen tree. She continues walking, and a thick fog envelops her. The light on her sword goes out, and the battery runs low. Luz lowers her sword. She continues walking forward, bends over a branch, and cuts the rope with her sword. The camera pans to a village full of cats in clothes, walking on two legs. Luz walks through the village, beaming with joy and looking around. She approaches a fountain in the center of the square, from which emerges a witch with a sword at her belt. She pushes her wet hair out of her face. Witcher Boy: Let's see. So, you're the Chosen One. The staff is called "celestial" because "Azura" translates as "sky-blue." It's slang for a lazy and irritable person. Luz: (looks at him) Yes. Yes, I made the right choice. At Diana's. She leads the king and Ida to the place where they saw the wizard. Diana: Ida, this is the place. (She steps inside and freezes.) What the... All three see that the castle is destroyed. Ida: I don't like this. Diana: (through clenched teeth) Is this some kind of magical illusion?! (She begins to get angry.) And inside the castle are torn copies of the cards with the glowing inscription "Chosen One." Ida: I don't like this at all. (She looked at Diana.) Are you... okay? (She asked carefully.) Diana tried to contain her anger so as not to destroy the wall, but then the King reached out his paws, and Diana noticed. Diana: (Her anger subsided, and she picked up the King.) Were you scared of me? I'm sorry, I'm just really worried about Luce. (She hugged him.) King: (Hugs her around the neck.) I wasn't scared. On the contrary, you're amazing. (Looks at her.) Luz is so lucky to have such a brave friend. (He says this to her, and Diana smiles softly.) Ida smiled tenderly, looking at this sweet picture. At Luz's—in the forest. Luz: Nevaret, your story of revenge is undeniable. (looking at the flying creature) And I like your animal companion. Nevaret: (explaining) After my village was razed to the ground, I thought of nothing but revenge. Luz: (excitedly) Incredible! Nevaret: (looking at her seriously) Lady Luz, do you think love can blossom on the battlefield? Luz: (turning away) This mission is going according to plan. The three of them emerge onto the bridge and scream when a creature with a name tag bearing the name Chris jumps out at them. It asks them to solve a riddle. It asks its name, and Luz answers after reading the name on the tag. Chris: (happily) That's right! You can cross the bridge. (He hands her a ring with a blue stone.) And please take this, Chosen One, it will help you on your adventure. Luz: (takes the ring from his paws) Wow, how beautiful. Thank you. Nevaret: (looks at Luz) Do you need a cloak? Luz: No, I think I... (She is interrupted.) Nevaret: You can have my shirt. Nevaret rips off his shirt and drapes it over Luz's shoulders like a cape. Luz is delighted. Nevaret: Three cheers for the Chosen One. Hip-hip, hooray! At Diana's. Ida: (disgruntled) Oh no... That fairytale town was also an illusion and abandoned. Diana: (very worried) It's a shame I didn't go with her... King: (searching for Luce by scent) Don't worry, Diana, Luce was here. She smells of lemon and youthful, naive self-confidence. Diana: (thoughts) How much she resembles me when I was six. (sighs) Ida picks up a cat puppet, which asks her a riddle to find Luce, then disappears. Diana: (contemplating) So, a puppet? And an illusion. Ida's client is a puppeteer-illusionist. (She puts these facts together) King: The cat person melted! Ida: It's a trap. They want me to go after Luz. King: So what should we do? Diana: (lifting him up) We're going to save her, silly. At Luz's. In the forest, Luz, Nevaret, and Chris are walking with a fairy who is much less hostile than the one they met the day before. The fairy princess gives Luz two bracelets. Chris explains in rhyme that the search will soon be over. Luz: (grumpy) Thanks for ruining my mood, Chris. Nevaret: (encouraging her) Come on, Chosen One. You've earned it. (He said this to her, and Luz's mood improved.) Everyone bids her farewell, and Luz continues on her way. Birds chirp overhead, casting long shadows. Luz looks away to focus on the path and stops. Luz gasps. The Celestial Staff stands on a platform in the middle of the lake, illuminated by a beam of light. As Luce approaches the edge of the lake, a glow emanates from the water, and a few seconds later, a stone path appears with a roar, connecting the edge of the lake to the central square. Luz: I knew this world wasn't as dark and hopeless as Eda and the King said. Luz insists she's here for a reason, jumping and spinning along the path. She stops when she reaches the platform and looks at the staff in awe. She hesitantly picks it up. Blue magical swirls erupt from the staff, creating waves on the lake, and its tip glows brightly. She pulls it out of the ground and triumphantly raises it above her head. Luz: (happily) Yes! I'm the chosen one! I knew it! I always suspected there was a reason no one understood my silly antics back home except my beloved best friend, Diana. She's the only one who truly understood me and believed in me. The staff crumbles, dust swirling in the wind. She grabs the dust. The remaining illusions around her dissipate: the flowers at her feet wither, the lake's water drains into the banks, and even the leaves disappear in the whirlwind. Luz: (shocked) What? At Diana's. The King, Diana, and Ida flew through the forest on a staff. Ida: I know this guy. He's not a wizard. In fact, he's... (she's interrupted) Diana: (The King hugs her) A puppeteer, an illusionist, and a manipulator. (She speaks for her) Ida looked at her in surprise. Ida: (surprised) How do you know who he is? Diana: (smirking) I suspected from the start that this guy was up to something and wanted something from Luce. And when you, the King, and I went to the old castle, and then to the abandoned city, I immediately realized that for my friend, it was an illusion. (She explained to her) Ida: Wait, if you knew it was a trap from the start, why didn't you tell Luz sooner? Diana: (seriously) Are you kidding? If I tell her, she'll be really upset, or worse, stop talking to me. And Luz will think I don't believe her, but that's not true. She's my first friend, and I value our friendship very much. (She looked at the trees.) I've known her since she was four, and when I was six, I started protecting her from bad people so she'd never have to suffer again. (She sighed.) I just don't want her to suffer the way I did when I was six. (She finished her explanation, her voice turning sad.) Ida listened attentively and suddenly remembered what her relationship with her older sister, Lilith, was like before the curse. But when Diana finished her story, Ida's eyes widened in surprise, and she couldn't believe her eyes. Ida: (thoughtfully) So that incident when she was six years old traumatized her, and she began to protect Luz like a little sister. (her gaze becomes serious) I thought she believed in Adegast too because she was as trusting as Luz, but that's not true. In fact, she tried to make sure Luz always remained a happy and cheerful girl. (she thought) They flew the rest of the way in silence. At Luz's. The sky lake is shrouded in fog. Luce retreats, holding her sword in front of her. Luce groans. Adegast appears from the fog. Adegast lifts the magic doll, and an octopus-like demon emerges. The ground begins to crack. Her former comrades and the village cats rise from the canopy, tentacles sprouting from their backs. They rise into the air and surround Luce, who slowly turns. Luz: (trying to calm herself) Okay, Luz. Don't worry. This is common for the Chosen Ones. You just need to save everyone and defeat the final boss. Adegast admits to manipulating everyone she met along the way. He confirms that he tricked Luce into believing she was the Chosen One. As she ponders this revelation, her cloak flies into the air. It transforms into chains, forcing her to her knees. Her bracelets turn into handcuffs, and her ring into chains that bind her hands. Luce laments that her fashion accessories have failed her. Adegast admits she's bait to lure Eda into a trap, as Eda is her rival in the potion business. Adegast: (explaining) And you were with Adrian and Yana's daughter, Diana, right? Ida and Diana will be arriving soon, followed by Yana and Adrian, who will try to save their precious daughter. Luz: (snorting) Yeah, of course, Diana and Ida aren't stupid enough to fall into your trap. Ida: (yelling) Adegast! Diana: (yelling) Don't touch my close friend! Luz: Damn it! Diana, the King, and Ida land at the end of the path. Adegast: Ida, Diana, you're in my hands now! Diana quickly removes the miniature Death Scythe from her neck, then snaps her fingers, and the scythe returns to its normal size. Diana: (Holding the Death Scythe in both hands.) In your dreams, octopus illusionist. (She bared her teeth.) At that moment, three cat puppets leap out from the ground: one grabs Ida, the second grabs the King, and the third almost grabs Diana, but she dodges. The puppet tries again, but Diana dodges a second and third time. Enraged, Adegast summons a fourth cat puppet, which appears behind Diana and grabs her, something she didn't expect. The Death Scythe falls to the ground. Diana: (disgruntled) Hey, that's not fair, idiot. Ida: Right, I'm in your hands. Now let Luz go. King: I shouldn't have interfered! Adegast: Of course, but we'll wait for Yana and Adrian... (he's interrupted) Ida: I haven't seen my friend for a whole year, and her husband for twelve years. The chance of Undertaker appearing on the Boiling Isles is exactly 5%, and Yana's is exactly 90%. Adegast: (snorts) Okay, but that girl will decide for herself whether to leave or not. Because she wants to live like a fairy tale. The Kreese doll releases a cloud of mist toward Luz. When she opens her eyes, she finds herself freed from her shackles and kneeling in a dark void. The Adegast doll approaches her from the darkness. Nevaret (putting a hand on her shoulder): Stay with us, Luz. Stay with Adegast. We need you here. You could be our Chosen One. Fairy Princess: Yes, you could eat our tiny food forever. Nevaret: Have you ever considered that your best friend has been lying to you from the start and continues to do so? And Luz, why do you want to live in a world where people laugh at you? Ida: (shouting) Luz! Diana (shouting): Don't trust that idiot! Luz: (at first sadly) Maybe Diana knew who Adegast was all along and lied to me. (now she smiles softly) And you're so kind. Ida: (shouting) No! Luz: (shouting) But this isn't real! She runs out of the illusion and grabs the toy sword. Luz: (explaining) Diana lied to me, of course, but she did it so I wouldn't be upset. I'm a witch's apprentice. And I intend to earn my staff through hard work. I trusted you, wizard. Now behold my wrath! Luz stabs the wizard doll in the stomach with her sword, and it disappears with a crash, while Adegast lets go of Diana, the King, and Eda with a cry. Diana runs up to her deadly scythe, picks it up, and looks at Luz with pride. Diana: (thoughtfully) How proud I am of her. She runs up to Luz and turns her back on her, and Luz turns her back on Diana. Luz holds a toy sword in her hand, and Diana holds her death scythe. Diana: You really don't hold a grudge against me? Luz: (looking at her understandingly) You had reason to lie to me because you didn't want to upset me. I've already forgiven you. And by the way, let's stop him! Diana: (smirks) I've been waiting for this moment. Ida: (muses) Diana is like the moon, and Luce is like the sun. (smirks) No wonder they're like Yin and Yang. (she thought) Diana quickly turns and slices one puppet in half with her Death Scythe, while Luce destroys the other puppet with her sword. Ida creates a magic circle, from which fiery smoke erupts, incinerating the remaining puppets. Diana notices Nevareth and is disgusted. Diana: (thinks) He's not my type, he's so disgusting. She slices Nevareth in half, and he screams. All three notice that Adegast has grabbed the king and demands he lower his weapon. Luz and Eda do so, while Diana stealthily approaches Adegast to attack him. Luz laments that she fell for Adegast's tricks and didn't trust the king. At that moment, Diana leaps in and cleaves Adegast's head, and Eda quickly casts a fire spell on him. Diana grabs the king with one hand and her death scythe with the other, then lowers herself to the ground. Diana: (She looked at the king.) How are you? Everything alright? (The king nods.) Luz: (Happily) That was awesome! Diana: (chuckled) I know. (She looked at the Death Scythe's blade.) It's really sharp, and I like it. Ida grabs Adegast and eats it. Luz said she just wanted to be special. The camera pans to the four of them, floating in the sky on Ida's staff. Diana wore a black blindfold with her bangs tucked under her hair, while Luz wore a white blindfold. Both girls remove their blindfolds and are shocked by what they see. The camera pans to the entire Boiling Island—the Titan's decaying body. He lies in the sea, arms outstretched, his skull illuminated by the setting sun. The King and Ida are delighted by the filth and stench of the islands. Ida: (She looked seriously at Diana.) It's evening, which means I'll remove the seal from you, but you should know that your height will be very different from what it was before. Are you ready? Diana just nods, and Ida touches the seal on her neck and draws a circle, which begins to glow with a poisonous green light. Then she snaps her fingers over the seal, and a mist appears around Diana. When the mist clears, we see that Diana has shrunk by 10 cm, and her eyes have widened. Diana: (Seriously.) Well? Luz: (Carefully.) Your actual height without the seal is 138.1 cm, and with the seal, you were 148.5 cm. Diana: (She glanced at Ida with displeasure.) Does this have anything to do with the height of my biological father or mother? Ida: (Swallowed.) Exactly... but I'll tell you more about your biological mother later. Diana: (Sighs.) By the way, will we ever get our staffs back? Eda replies that they won't yet, but they will someday, and they continue admiring the view. In another world. The camera pans to a huge red petrogram on the floor with a star in the center of the circle. Then two male figures approach the petrogram. We can't yet see what they look like because they're standing in shadow. Dad: Alex, are you ready to summon a powerful being who will grant us immense power? Alex: Of course, Dad. Attempt number five. Continued in Season 1, Episode 3.
