“Will you write to us every day?” “Well… everyday sounds kind of excessive, isn’t it?” “Not at all! And what about the extra pair of socks? Did you pack everything you need, oh, my, dear, I am so…” “Will you send us a dragon egg?” “Two! Two eggs!” “Good luck, son.” “I am sure that the wizards overseas will…” “Hey, I also want a dragon!” “What will you do with a dragon, you are going to Hogwarts, send the dragon to me!” “Bye-e-e-e!” The portal blinked, Charlie blinked as well, and when he opened his eyes, the world around him changed. He breathed in the new air of a new country that sounded like a new life, and smiled. It was much colder than back at home, and the peaks of Carpathians still had their snowcaps on. “Hey. Charles Weasley, right?” The man was approaching him at a quick pace. He stretched out his hand, Charlies shook it and nodded. “Codrin, nice to meet you.” “It’s Charlie. Nice to meet you, too, Codrin,” the slight accent was there, and the handshake was firm and quick. Charlie felt the calluses on the other man’s hand, the signs of a person who isn’t afraid of physical labour, and asked. “It can’t be you I was corresponding with…” “Oh, no, no way. You talked with my father, Codrut,” the man laughed heartily and that was a very sincere laugh. “He said the old Scamander gave his personal reco…” There was a roar that echoed from the mountains, and then Charlie saw two shadows above gracefully sliding in and out of the clouds. They strangely reminded him of the leaves carried by the breeze in a beautiful dance that needed no music or tune whatsoever. “The mating season,” Codrin followed the dragons with his sight. “They seldom mate but, you know, for the dragons it’s different…” “It’s not about the result. It’s about the courting”, Charlie nodded watching the dragons. “Exactly,” the man agreed. They stood there for some more time watching the couple of the creatures Charlie decided to devote his life to, and the spring blossomed around them.
