Chapter 23

Settings
After another conversation with the police, Bonnie and Henry were released and thanked for helping to catch the cult leader, as well as protecting the city from monsters. As a reward, they were given thirty thousand each. They got into the car and went to look for Honi. It was already getting dark outside. "We were so close to dropping all charges against her, and she just ran away..." the ginger sighed. "I guess it's understandable," Henry replied. "After all, Neil wanted to get rid of her..." After several hours of searching, she was still nowhere to be seen. Bonnie was starting to get upset. "We should have found her by now... She can't hide forever!" she said with anger in her voice. "Hey, calm down. We can't keep looking all night. We'll have to come back tomorrow," Henry sighed. Bonnie looked at him with fury in her eyes. "No! We can't just stop looking for her! We have to find her and make sure she's safe! Do you really want to leave Honi at the mercy of the monsters? They're still out there, roaming around the city, and it'll take a long time to patch up the holes in the wall, but the sinister mockers don't care!" "Yeah, I get it, but she still has Zhmak and the axe... Do you think she's in danger?" "Of course, Honi and Zhmak don't have infinite power!" Henry knew Bonnie was right. They couldn't just leave the person they cared about in danger. They continued searching. An hour passed. The quiet hum of the car engine was the only sound breaking the silence of the night city streets. There was almost no one around. Suddenly, Henry hit the brakes. A familiar silhouette, walking quickly somewhere, stopped right in front of the car, putting her hands on the hood. Her eyes glowed amber. The girl's expression was gloomy. "Honi?" Henry was surprised. Bonnie opened the car door, and Zhmak immediately jumped into the seat. "Honi!" Bonnie exclaimed. "Where have you been? We were worried about you!" "Sorry... " Honidesu sighed. "Let's go home!" Henry said.  "Can you take Honi and me back to my apartment?" "Are you sure?" "Yeah, I think everything is more or less fine there... I hope..." "Well, if the road there hasn't been blocked yet, then everything is fine..." Henry drove to Bonnie's apartment, it was really surprisingly quiet there, only a few policemen guarded the yard. The friends made their way along the alley, trying to escape the watchful eyes of the patrolmen. Henry covered Honidesu with his coat, and they silently walked to the entrance of Bonnie's apartment building. He walked the girls to the 7th floor and said goodbye. "If anything happens, call!" "Uh-huh," the ginger nodded. Bonnie noticed that Honi was acting very quietly, as if something was bothering her. "Honi, your leg..." "Y-yes..." "You urgently need to treat the wound!" The ginger took the first aid kit out of the closet, helped her friend sit up and began to treat her wound with iodine. "Ouch! It burns a lot!" Honidesu exclaimed. "Yeah, be patient a little..." Honi picked up Zhmak in her arms and began to hug him so that it wouldn't hurt too much. Tears came to her eyes. In the end, the wound was properly bandaged. "Hey, Honi, do you want some tea?" "Huh? No thanks, I think I'll go to bed..." "Hm, even if I offer you a chocolate bar?" Honi shook her head. "Well, you don't even want a chocolate bar, it must be serious!" Bonnie was surprised. "No, I just need to sleep..." "Whatever you say..." They lay down on the bed together. Zhmak slept on Bonnie's side this time. Honi just lay there, turned away. The ginger couldn't fall asleep, she was still worried about her friend. "Honi, are you sleeping?" Honidesu sighed sadly. "Can I hug you?" Before Honi could react, Bonnie suddenly hugged her from behind. "Goodnight, Honi!" "Goodnight, Bonnie," Honi answered in a calm voice and smiled. The next day, Honi woke up feeling disoriented. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The girl went into the bathroom and tried to pull herself together. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. It looked at her with a cold, lifeless look. The girl's eyes, once bright and full of life, now looked empty. Honidesu was overcome with a sense of dread and fear. Thoughts were racing through her head, but she couldn't make sense of them. Her hands shook as she washed her face, and her movements were jerky and chaotic, as if she didn't quite know what she was doing. Her mind was clouded and disconnected from her body, and every movement was a struggle. As she stumbled out of the bathroom, she was barely aware of her surroundings, and it was as if she were watching her life from a distance. The sensation was so overwhelming that she had to sit up. Her mind felt like it was being torn apart, like the strings of a guitar being plucked one by one until there was nothing left... "Honi?" Bonnie asked worriedly. Honidesu closed her eyes, her mind going dark.
