Chapter 24

Bonnie picked up Honi. It was clear that Honidesu had lost consciousness, but suddenly her eyes opened.
"What's wrong, Honi? Maybe we should call a doctor? You look really pale! I'm not sure I can help you on my own..."
"No! No need! I'm better!" the girl exclaimed, clutching her head.
"It doesn't look like it..."
"I said that everything is fine!"
Honidesu's eyes became an amber noise, her whole body began to glitch, disintegrating into several multi-colored copies and causing ripples in Bonnie's eyes. Honi stood up abruptly, went to the carrier with axes and took one of them. Her face was expressionless.
"Honi, what are you doing?"
The ginger's pupils narrowed as Honidesu swung the glitch axe and headed straight for her. Bonnie staggered back and grabbed another axe to defend herself.
"Stop it! This isn't funny, Honi!"
Honi wasn't listening, she just kept attacking silently.
"You're scaring me!" Bonnie said, blocking her friend's attacks.
"I'm a mistake! I shouldn't exist!" Honi screamed.
"What are you talking about?! It's not true!"
"It's not true? No, Bonnie. I was always a mistake, you just turned a blind eye to it. But now it's all going to end!" she screamed, continuing to attack the ginger.
"Honi, I know you have a good heart. Please change your mind!"
Honidesu's eyes stopped glowing amber for a moment. She froze in place.
"Bonnie..." she whispered, looking at her friend with a frightened look.
"Honi..."
Honi quickly walked through the doors and ran away in tears. Zhmak watched in horror. Bonnie had just witnessed her best friend try to attack her with an axe, although of course there was more to it. She needed to find out what was really going on and fast. The ginger ran after her, forgetting to close the doors behind her.
Finally, she saw Honi. She was standing in an empty, dimly lit alley, breathing heavily. Bonnie slowly took a step forward, trying not to seem threatening. Time seemed to stop, and they both froze in tense silence, the only sound was the beating of their hearts...
"I really am a mistake..." Honidesu whispered, her voice sounding hoarse and hopeless.
"Don't..." Bonnie tried to answer.
"SHUT UP!" Honi interrupted her.
Suddenly, Honidesu screamed as if a storm had broken out in her soul. Her body shook in chaotic movements, she lost control and dropped the axe. The ginger jumped back, overcome with fear. But suddenly, Honi froze, her hand stretched out forward. The axe, as if possessed, rose into the air. A wave of interference and glitches erupted around her.
"If you are so attached to me, then we can die together in this fight!" Honidesu screamed, pointing her hand towards Bonnie.
The axe flew straight at the ginger, but she managed to block it. Another blow followed, then another, until a sharp glitch followed, throwing her into a trash can by the wall.
Honi slowly approached Bonnie. The glitch axe flew straight into her hand, and she swung it.
The ginger closed her eyes. She heard a scream, the sound of which changed and was interrupted by the malfunction. Opening one eye, she saw Zhmak on Honi's face. The girl desperately tried to throw him off.
"Zhmak! Watch out!" Bonnie exclaimed.
Honi threw Zhmak away and sharply pointed her hand at him, the glitchy axe flew into the air again and flew at the cat. Bonnie blocked the axe and rushed at Honidesu, holding her weapon right at her neck.
"I will not let anyone die today!" the ginger said.
Honi pointed her hand again, and the axe obediently rushed after Bonnie. But Bonnie pushed her friend onto the sidewalk, and both girls fell together. The glitchy weapon flew past and fell to the ground with a dull sound. In this collision, Bonnie accidentally injured Honidesu's throat, blood gushed out of the wound.
"Oh no..." Bonnie was horrified, looking at the horrible sight.
Honi stood up and hesitated. The wound instantly healed when she put her palm to it, causing glitches. She turned her head to Bonnie and pointed her hand at her again.
"I'm tired!" Bonnie screamed in despair and threw herself at her friend.
Honi froze, her eyes returning to normal.
"W-what?" she asked, confused.
"When things were almost going well, you decided to run away... Why are you running away now? Pull yourself together! What's wrong with you? Why are you attacking me?"
"Bonnie, I don't..."
"STOP! I tried to help you! But it's like you don't want it. Do you like hiding?" Bonnie continued emotionally.
As if on impulse, she pushed Honi, and she lost control of the axe. The weapon fell to the ground. Honi's hands shook, she looked as if she did not understand what was happening.
"I don't want to fight you! I thought we were friends! If you want to hurt me so much, then solve your problems without me! Please! I will not interfere with you!" Bonnie screamed and turned away from her.
Zhmak ran after her.
It took a huge effort for Honides to keep from rushing after her, to stop her. Emotions were raging inside her - fear, anger, despair... "What happened? We fought? Why can't I remember this..." she thought, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"You see, you're a mistake! Go to the company and surrender right now!" the voice in her head sounded insistently.
"W-what?..." the girl thought in surprise, unable to understand where this internal monologue was coming from.
"You have nothing to lose, just become who you were originally supposed to be!"
"But I don't want to..." she answered in confusion to this internal voice that was demanding the impossible from her.
"Do you have a choice? Stop it! What's holding you back? Without you, neither the townspeople nor your friends would have any problems. It would be better if you didn't exist!"
"Error..." echoed through her mind. Honi stood up and, full of despair, headed where her feet led, as if they knew the way themselves.
Bonnie returned home, Zhmak was next to her. "Is Honi capable of such a thing? I don't know what I would have done in her place, but I would never attack my best friend!" she thought, trying to comprehend what had happened. Suddenly the phone rang. She picked up the receiver.
"Hello, how are you? Are you okay?" Henry asked.
"Honi started acting strangely and attacked me with an axe..."
"What?!"
"Then she ran away, like yesterday. I tried to catch up with her, to help, but it was useless! I decided not to interfere with her..."
"You left her alone?!" he exclaimed, clearly alarmed.
"What else could I have done? She almost killed me!" the ginger was indignant.
"I don't think she did it on purpose..."
"Oh, really?..."
"Someone broke into my apartment and stole the cube I could use to connect it to the computer... I don't know who needed it, but maybe it's somehow connected?"
"Is that even possible?"
"The only one who could have done it is someone who works at GDM."
"Neil..." they said at the same time, realizing the seriousness of the situation.
"Oh, no! I have to apologize to her!" Bonnie was scared.
"Where is she now?"
"She was in the alley. We need to hurry!"
Honidesu suddenly stopped.
"What am I doing? This is wrong..." she thought.
"Don't you want to save the world from problems? From yourself?" the voice in her head answered.
"No! Then it turns out that I'm running away from problems again... I can't leave my friends, even if we just had a fight... I still think that they are worried about me... I have to apologize!"
"To rid the world of yourself is not running away from problems, but rather solving them... Just fix the mistake, become who you were supposed to be!"
"If my personality is erased, then I will die... But I still want to live! I want to feel this world like everyone else... Spend time with my loved ones..."
"It's too late!" the voice got angry.
"It's never too late to fix everything! I have to go back!"
Honi turned around and tried to go back to find Bonnie, but instead fell to her knees. "What's wrong? Why won't my legs obey me?!" the girl was surprised. She felt a strong blow to the head and passed out.
