Chapter 22

Settings
Henry was driving very fast. Honi looked out the window and saw many people running away in terror from the sinister mockers. Bonnie saw it too, she was very angry. "And where are we going?!" the ginger asked. "At least closer to the city center..." Henry answered. "You think these monsters won't get there? Yeah, right..." Bonnie snorted, folding her arms. "We don't have much of a choice..." the man sighed. Henry braked sharply. "What's the matter?!" Honi asked. "We're in big trouble, hold on tight..." The girls saw through the windshield how the sinister mocker was approaching them along the road. "Crush it!" Bonnie screamed. Henry stepped on the gas. The car rushed forward, knocking down the mocker. Honi and Bonnie felt the adrenaline rushing through their blood. The car stopped, and the monster flew onto the road and got under the wheels of a passing truck. After a few seconds of silence, Bonnie's face lit up and she exclaimed: "Wow, that was... epic!" Henry parked the car on a safer street and turned to the girls. "We need to act quickly," he said, looking into their eyes. "We can't let these creatures take over our city! We have to fight to the end!" Bonnie exclaimed. Honi nodded. They were ready to stand up to evil and protect their city at any cost. "Oh yeah, Honi, take the axe!" the ginger smiled and handed her the weapon. "I'm ready for this fight! It wasn't for nothing that we went into the forest to exterminate them!" Honidesu answered and took the axe. "What were you doing?" Henry was surprised. "Um, it's just... Don't worry, we're strong since we're still alive!" Bonnie giggled. "Zhmak won't let anyone get hurt either!" The cat wagged his tail when he heard his name again. "Okay, I'll take your word for it..." Henry sighed. "But still, let's be careful." The girls nodded, ready for battle. They got out of the car and headed towards the center of the city, where chaos and panic were gradually increasing. Agents and police were fighting in the streets, trying to protect the city from the monsters. Henry, Honi, Bonnie and their faithful cat Zhmak joined the fight. Henry picked up the rifle that the dead agent had dropped and tried to figure out how to shoot it. He carefully examined the firearm in his hands, noting the intricate design and its weight. "Okay... Let's see if I can figure out how to use this thing..." Henry muttered out loud. He aimed the gun at the mocker who was approaching him. Henry tried to keep his hands steady, but the gun was shaking slightly. He closed one eye and tried to align the sights with the target. The man took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. A loud explosion echoed down the street, and Henry felt the recoil of the gun in his hands and almost fell. The monster fell to the sidewalk. "Oh, I think I got it!" Henry exclaimed. "Wow, Henry, that was cool!" Bonnie said happily. Honi noticed something, the dead agent looked strange... Instead of insides, he had cords, and the liquid that was leaking out of him smelled like motor oil. "So this is not a human?..." she thought. Bonnie walked up to Honi and looked at her questioningly, and then at the agent. "Why are you looking at him like that?" "It's a robot..." Honi said. "Oh, so that means..." "That means I didn't kill anyone!" "But there's a law against damaging someone else's property..." Bonnie whispered. "What?!" "Haha, I don't think it's that important now, we need to stop the monsters now, and then, if anything, we'll prove your innocence!" Honi gripped the axe tightly and, with a smile on her face, summoned glitches that instantly wrapped around the monsters, causing them to convulse and twitch uncontrollably. With a flash of light, the monsters began to fall to the ground, their bodies smoking and hissing. Bonnie also swung her axe accurately, knocking the sinister mockers off their feet. Thick smoke began to rise around them, darkening everything around. The friends felt weak, and everything began to float before their eyes. "What's happening? I can't see anything!" Honidesu exclaimed. "Let's stick together!" the ginger said confidently, trying to breathe at least a drop of hope into the situation. Bonnie grabbed Honi's hand tightly, and they moved forward resolutely, making their way through the thick smoke that enveloped them like a heavy veil. Suddenly, a slow rhythmic clapping sound reached their ears - it was Estemo, who seemed to be mocking them. "Bravo!" he said with a mad glint in his eyes. "You're almost there." Continuing on their way, they noticed a figure that was strikingly similar to Honidesu. "Is this really a hallucination?" Honi thought. "W-what? Another Honi?" Bonnie said in surprise as the smoke began to clear, revealing the scene. Bonnie squinted, trying to make out the face of the mysterious woman. "Laura?" " she said, confused. The woman looked at them, and a cold, impenetrable expression froze on her face. "Laura! " Bonnie exclaimed. "What happened to you?" The woman's gaze made it clear that she was not going to share her feelings, and a strong tension was growing between them... "Oh, what Laura are you talking about? She is my Goddess!" the maddened Estemo laughed. "Her face is nothing like mine..." Honidesu said doubtfully. Suddenly, Estemo rushed at Honi with a dagger in his hand, aiming at her chest. But she was too fast. Her axe easily blocked his attack, causing his weapon to slip out of his hands. Laura, meanwhile, was still standing to the side. "Laura, you don't have to do this," Bonnie said, her fingers tightly clutching her weapon. "You can leave, you can come with us!" "How dare you talk to me like that?" the woman replied, her voice barely louder than a whisper. "Finish them off..." Other cult members ran out of the fog. The monsters also rushed forward, attacking both sides. Estemo quickly picked up his dagger from the ground and ran at Honidesu. Honi's axe moved faster, cutting down monster after monster, while continuing to repel the attacks of the enraged cult leader and his minions. She tried to use her abilities less, so as not to hurt the cultists too much. Bonnie also helped cut down the mockers and pushed the cultists to the sides. As the battle raged around her, Laura remained in place, as if bound in invisible chains, and watched what was happening with a cold, indifferent gaze. The sounds of battle hung in the air: screams, the clanging of metal, dull blows. But at that moment, a sinister mocker approached her from behind, his presence felt like a shadow thickening over the battlefield. Suddenly, another figure appeared in Laura's field of vision - it was Neil. He came around the corner, and his eyes instantly caught the scene before him. The grin that appeared on his face was cold and cruel, like a reflection of evil itself... "Neil?" the fake Honi was surprised. She fell to her knees, tears rolling down her cheeks, leaving traces of grief behind them. But there was not a drop of recognition in Neil's eyes. He did not see her as his sister. The mocker came closer and tore her apart right in front of her brother's eyes. The girls froze in horror. "Laura!" one of them screamed. Neil looked towards the girls and saw another Honi, and then slowly turned his head towards the already dead body that the mocker was devouring. "No..." he muttered quietly, his voice full of hopelessness. Neil took a gun out of his pocket and began shooting. Twenty shots rang out and the mocker fell to the sidewalk, his body falling lifelessly to the ground. As Neil approached and saw his sister, his face went pale. "Laura!" he shouted, falling to his knees next to her. His hands shook with fear and despair as he tried to lift her head. Her blood gushed from the wounds, covering his hands. "Forgive me, Laura, forgive me..." he whispered, as if those words could bring her back to life. Tears streamed down his face, mixing with grief and hopelessness, but it was too late. Laura's eyes dimmed, and Neil screamed in pain and despair, realizing that nothing would ever be the same again. His soul was torn apart, leaving only the emptiness and shadow of his past life - a life filled with light and hope that was now gone forever... The sinister mockers continued to attack everyone, many of the cultists had already become someone's dinner. Honi, Bonnie and Estemo retreated and turned the corner due to the large influx of monsters. Estemo reached into his bag and pulled out a handful of black dust, which he threw towards the girls. The friends exchanged glances, realizing that they had to act quickly. Honidesu rushed forward, dodging Estemo's attacking dagger. A flash of malfunctioning abilities hit the cultist, throwing him back. Bonnie took advantage of this and snuck up behind Estemo, carefully reaching for his bag. "Why did you make a puppet out of a person in the form of me?" Honi exclaimed. "I didn't do anything... it's just that YOU are an impostor!" She smirked and clutched the axe, which began to create glitches. "Oh, yes? And what is this then?" "The Great Disruption gave you power, but you didn't heed its teachings, for you are the same sinner!" While he was distracted, Bonnie successfully cut off the bag and disappeared. Estemo rushed at Honi again. His attacks were fast and merciless, forcing Honidesu to constantly dodge and parry his deadly blows. She noticed how the sinister mocker came out of the corner and headed towards Estemo. This was her chance. She stepped aside when the monster jumped on the cultist. "No, no! Attack her, not me!" Estemo screamed, and plunged the dagger into the monster's chest. The mocker roared, but continued to mercilessly press on the guy with its bony paws. The girl watched Estemo's attempts to escape from the clutches of the monster. The young man looked very exhausted and pitiful. When the mocker prepared to tear him apart, Honi immediately chopped off the monster's head using the axe glitches. Estemo looked up at the girl, breathing heavily. "Why did you do this?" "I don't know, I might not have done it," she said with a grin. "I can do it myself!" She raised the axe, the blade flickering with glitches. Finally, he lowered his head, his voice shaking as if all the unspoken emotions were fighting within him: "I... I hate people..." Estemo took a deep breath, his words pouring out of him like a bursting dam: "My parents... They drank themselves to death... and abandoned me to my fate..." he continued, his eyes watering behind his mask. "I sought solace among people, but each time I was disappointed! My whole life I was used and mocked! So I vowed to find the truth... I turned to faith. I realized that the world was full of imperfections, and people only made it worse. Not monsters, but people! Mockers, like some animals, sense human fear and that's why they attack... I realized that fear is both the source and the manifestation of sin. The only way to achieve harmony is to understand the Void, and to do that, I need to face my fears..." Honi slowly lowered the axe, trying to understand his words, but they only confused her even more. "Forgive me, Goddess, I was wrong..." he said quietly, almost in a whisper. "I am also a sinner, because I myself experienced fear..." "I don't need your apologies," she answered coldly. "Ah? Why..." "First of all, you should apologize to those people whom you hurt, whom you deceived... That woman... other people... They trusted you, hoping for salvation, but in the end, some simply died for nothing... You were just as desperate, but you used others no better than those who once mocked you!" Estemo closed his eyes and reached for his bag, his hands trembling with emotion. "I... I am very sorry..." he laughed, but this laughter sounded bitter and mad. "To achieve harmony, chaos is needed! As I told you before, the destruction of the old world! The Great Disruption!" Honidesu looked at him in surprise. Suddenly, the guy froze. The bag was gone. "Did you lose something?" Bonnie said mockingly, coming out from behind the corner with a smirk on her face. Honi turned to her friend. Henry and Zhmak were standing next to her. At that moment, Estemo furiously plunged a dagger into Honi's leg. She screamed in pain. "Honi!" the ginger screamed, rushing to her friend. Henry and Zhmak followed Bonnie. Henry abruptly grabbed Estemo by the hands. Zhmak momentarily possessed the cultist and weakened his hand so that he dropped the dagger. Bonnie picked up the fallen weapon. The cat left Estemo's body. "No! Everything was supposed to go wrong!" the cultist screamed. "What was that?!" "It doesn't matter, you'll tell the police everything!" Bonnie answered menacingly. Honidesu noticed Neil nearby, who was talking to the police. Fear seized her, and she limped and ran away. Zhmak hurried after her. "Honi, where are you going?" Bonnie screamed. Honi continued to run, despite the pain. "Not Neil... I'm sure he told the police how bad I am! But where am I running? With this pain... Am I running from problems? Why?... I can't stop..." The girl ran for a long time, eventually she stopped in a dark alley and crouched down. Honi put the axe down. She touched her right leg with one hand, from which the wound was bleeding. She tried to focus on her regenerative abilities, but it was difficult to cause glitches. "Damn, it's not working, what am I doing wrong? Did the battle with the monsters really wear me out?" Honi felt something press against her. It was Zhmak. "Zhmak? Why did you run after me?" the girl sighed. The cat closed his eyes and began to purr. "Eh, it's hard when you're part of the problem, even if you didn't want it..." Honidesu stroked Zhmak, then curled up into a ball.
