Honidesu returned home, tired and full of anxious thoughts. She gently placed her furry friend Zhmak on the sofa and sat down next to him, as if she was seeking comfort in his company.
"Do you think I'm nothing but trouble, Zhmak?" the girl sighed, looking into space.
The cat swayed slightly left and right, as if to refute her words, looking very comical. Honi couldn't help but smile.
"Heh, thank you, Zhmak, you're very kind to me..." she said, stroking his soft fur.
Then she stood up and went to the window, waiting for Bonnie to return and hoping that everything would be fine. The street lights were flickering, there was almost no one on the street, and the noise of the city was barely audible behind the closed window. At that moment, her thoughts again returned to the events that brought her so much anxiety. The weight of guilt pressed on her heart. She was worried about her loved ones, especially Bonnie, and how this would affect their relationship. "And I forgot that I was hiding from the police myself... Maybe I should have stayed? Why do I always hide?"
Honi closed her eyes and sank into her thoughts. "When will this all end?" she asked herself, feeling how time dragged on endlessly. The girl stood by the window for about two hours.
The sound of the door opening brought Honidesu out of her reverie. She turned around. It was Bonnie with her usual cheerful smile.
"Hey, Zhmak!" the ginger said as the cat ran up to greet her.
Bonnie quickly noticed the gloomy expression on Honi's face and came closer.
"Are you okay?" she asked with concern.
Honidesu sighed and buried her face in her friend's shoulder, as if seeking comfort in her warmth.
Bonnie began to stroke her hair, hugging her tightly and trying to convey her support.
"Hey, Honi..." she said quietly.
"Huh?" Honidesu responded, unable to hide her vulnerability.
"Remember what you promised me?" Bonnie continued with a hint of playfulness.
"Hm?"
"Hee hee, don't blame yourself, Honi. I'll never turn my back on you. You know all my secrets, and I know yours, so we're even. Let's take a break from all this and just have fun together. What do you think of that idea?"
Honi sighed in relief and nodded.
They decided to watch some silly comedy on TV together, drink hot chocolate with marshmallows and talk about random things. It was getting on for one in the morning, and they lay down on the bed together, Honi hugging Zhmak. Bonnie's eyes grew heavy and she fell asleep. Honidesu looked at her friend, feeling grateful for her presence in her life and also fell asleep with a smile on her face.
The next day, at the table, Honi decided to ask: "So, what's going on with the cult?"
"It's all very unclear..." Bonnie sighed.
"How so?"
"When the police arrived, the building exploded... I don't know if this cult leader Walter and his henchmen are alive or if they committed mass suicide..."
"So his name is Walter? I remember him introducing himself to me as Estemo..."
"Who knows... I talked to Laura, you know, that woman who was in the cult, she was clearly scared... She said she couldn't leave this place, like she was throwing up when she left it... Then she lost her mind and attacked me... The question is where that crazy leader took her and are they even alive, but I assume they are still alive. Do you have any information about this Estemo? Did he tell you anything?"
"He was always talking about the Great Disruption and how it chose me... I felt very uncomfortable with him."
"What Great Disruption?"
"He wanted the complete destruction of the world, because he supposedly believed that this would be some kind of balance, and he was talking all kinds of nonsense..."
"Hmm, that's it... I don't understand how he can be a leader with such a worldview... Probably the black dust had a big effect... I wonder... Wait!"
"What is it?"
"So they make this dust from the bones of mockers! Damn! I should have told the police about it, but at that moment I just forgot..."
Suddenly the girls heard a loud explosion. They looked out the window. They didn't see any explosion there, but they noticed Henry's car. Honi and Bonnie looked at each other, and then looked out the window again. Henry waved his hand, as if inviting them outside. The ginger grabbed a carrier with axes, and Honi grabbed Zhmak.
Everyone got into the car, the girls didn't understand what was happening.
"What happened?" Bonnie asked.
"We need to get out of here immediately! Someone is blowing up the city walls, it's dangerous to be here, the news said that monsters are already starting to attack people from the western part of the city, so I came for you," Henry answered and frantically started the car.
