Bonnie and Henry carefully pushed the door and looked inside. There was the cult leader, who was very close to Honidesu. Bonnie's inner anger flared up, and without thinking, she rushed at the masked guy.
"Bonnie!" Henry exclaimed, trying to stop her.
"Don't you dare touch Honi!" the ginger screamed, pushing the green-haired man hard.
Henry instantly grabbed the guy by the arms, trying to hold him back despite his resistance.
"Quick, get her out of here!" he shouted, not taking his eyes off the cultist.
Bonnie approached Honidesu, who looked confused, and tried to bring her to her senses.
"Bonnie, forgive me..." Honi muttered barely audibly.
"For what?" the ginger asked in surprise, looking at her friend.
"Oh? Bonnie!" Honi exclaimed, hugging her. "You came to save me?..." she said sheepishly.
"Of course! But we need to get out of here! Henry called the police," Bonnie quickly answered.
She glanced at the cult leader, full of determination.
"You don't stand a chance, Walter!"
Bonnie's words made the green-haired man frown.
"Where did you..."
Meanwhile, they began to move towards the exit, Henry still holding the struggling cultist tightly. When the other cultists noticed them, their faces distorted in surprise.
"Don't come any closer!" Bonnie screamed, holding her axes to the throats of their leader and Honi.
Walter noticed Laura among his followers, who looked extremely scared. Their eyes met. Suddenly, he broke free from Henry's hands. While Bonnie and the others were dumbfounded by this turn of events, Walter ran away in an unknown direction, grabbing Laura by the hand and shouting: "Kill them, catch them! This Goddess is an impostor!"
"So she's not on our side?" someone from the crowd shouted.
"An impostor!" another cultist screamed.
Honi created several glitches with her ability and threw the frightened cultists out of the way.
"Run!" she shouted.
"The main thing is that the police are already approaching. We need to find a way out!" Bonnie added.
Honi looked at the red door ahead.
"It must be it..." she said, pointing to the door.
As they exited the building, they heard sirens approaching in the distance. It seemed that the police were finally close. There was fresh air outside, and the weakness began to leave her consciousness. Honidesu finally noticed Zhmak.
"Zhmak! I'm so glad you're okay!" she exclaimed.
The cat happily wagged his tail and jumped into Honi's arms.
Bonnie smiled, but soon her thoughts returned to her friend's safety.
"Honi, run home with Zhmak! Henry and I will try to explain everything to the police."
"Are you sure?" Honi asked with concern in her voice.
The ginger nodded.
"Yes, please. We haven't caught the leader yet... I'll give you the key to the apartment and... take my axes..."
"O-okay..." Honidesu answered, accepting the keys and axes.
Clasping them in her hands, she ran away with Zhmak.
When the police arrived, the building exploded in a huge fireball right before their eyes. The fire, which quickly spread, lit up the night sky and filled the streets with thick smoke. Luckily, Bonnie and Henry had gotten away by then and were unharmed.
The police searched the wreckage and found no trace of the cultists, but they found Bonnie and Henry, who were also shocked by what had happened.
And then Bonnie and Henry sat in the interrogation room. The air was thick with the aroma of coffee and stale cigarette smoke that permeated the concrete walls. The only sounds that could be heard were the occasional rustling of papers and the steady ticking of an old analog clock hanging on the wall. This was a place of secrets, a place where the guilty faced their accusers and where those who felt wronged by the law sought justice.
The police officer began his interrogation: "Can you tell me what happened?" he asked, carefully studying the faces of the interlocutors.
"We were trapped inside the building by a group of cultists. They used some kind of dust to drug us and force us to join their cult. We managed to escape, but we didn't think the building would be destroyed..." Bonnie sighed.
"We had no idea that would happen. We were just trying to get out and save ourselves," Henry continued.
"And I don't know what kind of person this cult leader is... Did he commit suicide or escape with his followers?" the ginger said thoughtfully.
"We're still trying to figure it out. But can you tell us more about this dust the cultists used?"
"They made us breathe black powder. It made us feel weak and confused. Like our minds were being washed... It caused strong hallucinations..." Bonnie muttered.
The police were skeptical about Bonnie and Henry's story at first, but after talking to some of the surviving prisoners, they realized that they were telling the truth. Eventually, the police released Bonnie and Henry, but warned them to stay away from the cult. They said they would continue to investigate the cult's activities and would let them know if they needed more information.
