Did I fall in love with Clay?

Settings
Notes:
When Clay pulled me to him, I blushed a little and didn't immediately decide to hug him back, but then I awkwardly wrapped my arms around his back. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Macy leave the room, leaving us alone. We could have stood like that all day if I hadn't been pierced by a sharp pain. I pulled out of the embrace. “Clay, I need to step away for a moment. I'll be right back.” “Okay. I'll wait.” I quickly left the game room and headed for the kitchen. There should have been some medicine left in the medicine cabinet. When I got to the kitchen, I reached into the medicine cabinet and searched, praying that the pills were still there. They were there, though. I drank the medicine and my pain subsided. I hate this period. I hope no one notices. I leave the kitchen and walk back, but I stop when I notice Clay coming into the main hall. I wouldn't be picky if he didn't look around. Something is clearly wrong. Even Ava and Robin are out. I know it's wrong to eavesdrop, but still. “Merlok, looks like he's back.” “I knew my magic couldn't get rid of him for long.” “If you use magic again, I don't think I can slow him down that much this time.” “Yeah... We should ask Queen Halbert for help.” “I hope she won't say anything. I don't want to drag my friends into this, and I certainly don't want to be treated differently because of it.” I wonder what would make us treat him differently. This knight clearly has his secrets, but what are the-- “Lance, what are you doing here?” Macy's voice made me jump. “I--I--I—" “Are you eavesdropping?” Man, be quiet. “No..... Yeah... Maybe.” “You know it's not cool to eavesdrop, or is it the norm in rich families?” “I'm just worried about Clay. When he went over to Merlok's, he looked like he was in pain.” “You know him. He likes to hide his injuries or his problems. So just stay out of his way, and when he wants to, he'll tell you himself. That's his right.” "You're right. But if he's hiding something serious from us, I can't speak for myself." That's an awkward thing to say. We heard footsteps outside the door and walked quickly toward the kitchen. We didn't see Clay for the rest of the day, and when he came back, he went into the main hall and sat in a chair with his hands on the table and his head bowed on his arms. Merlok kept his eyes on him, stroking his back with his holographic hand. I step into the room. Clay slowly rises from his chair and tries to walk over, but his legs give out and he falls to the floor with a low, painful groan. “Clay, are you okay?” I ran over to him, helped him up, and sat him in the chair. “Yeah, I'm just a little tired.” “If you're sick or in pain, just tell me.” “I can't tell you anything. My problems are just my problems. I don't want to get anyone else involved.” I took his hand and felt him squeeze mine weakly. My cheeks began to burn. Was I falling in love with Clay? No. No way. Just yesterday I hated him, and today I love him. How does it work? We stare at each other for about five minutes, and then I sit on the floor and rest my head on his legs. I don't want to let him go, I want to hold him close to me, take all his pain away, just be there and enjoy every moment of life. My eyes began to close, and I slowly fell into the realm of morpheus.
