Moriarty
BBC
The character of Andrew Scott turned out to be the most non-standard and specific in comparison with other interpretations of Professor Moriarty. He is a madman, which is worse than a brilliant madman. This plays into the hands of the series. At first. But when you look at this mannered wretch for a long time, you already want to punch him in the eye and shout: «Calm down already!» and our beloved season 4 made everything much... ahem, worse. He was simply under the control of the Evr and was only following her instructions! BAM! I don’t want to remember this terrible dream, so let’s go without it.
In a word, 2 points for the most more or less interesting Moriarty.
Granada
Well, the same story as with Baskerville, I just remembered it with the help of Google. The actor was not remembered and... what is this story with the picture, France? Where is she from? Why is she? What happened? And there was still a battle of wits, but there was no fight at the waterfall. It seems to be there, but it is as if it is not there. Holmes made some movements, some blows on some points that don’t work that way, and that’s it. But we saw the real Reichenbach Falls.
USSR
Well, they criticized him! cartoon, heron, etc. he scared me. There was no battle of wits, but there was a great fight. The outcome was expected, but at the time of watching you don’t think: «7 more films. What could happen to Holmes?». You’re in the moment. You don't think about anything other than what's happening. And the scene with Watson turned out to be incredibly touching.
Besides, I first read the book and couldn’t believe that the great Sherlock Holmes died. I didn't know there was a sequel, because... in the collection in which I read the stories were not in chronological order. And when a month later I came to my senses and watched the film (the Soviet one was the first), I was happy! I felt indescribable hatred for Moriarty! I wanted to drown him myself! And the scene with the return was as important and dear to me as it was to Watson. It was an amazing feeling. Therefore, not everything is so simple for everyone. 1 point USSR.
Milverton
BBC
Ugh, he's even nastier than Jim (yes, I didn't say that Moriarty is Jim and not James. Apparently this was a very important point for the plot)! And if Scott needed this to create the image of an abnormal genius, then here it is meaningless. We should be disgusted by his greed, self-interest and meanness, not by his sickening behavior. I don’t want to write what he did there, so I don’t finish it in the hope that readers already know everything. And if not, you are very lucky. Besides, he is not so evil in the flesh. Just a bastard with an incredible memory who blackmails Mary... God knows why. Ok, Sherlock is giving Charles state secrets because of this. So we figured it out. There remains such a small insignificant question. WHY THE HELL DID YOU GIVE IN TO MAGNUSSEN? state secret?! to blackmail someone again? This would explain a lot... Besides, defeating him is as quick, simple and mediocre as possible.
No, terrible, disgusting.
Granada
oh my god! When will we have someone a little more interesting?! They remembered his appearance, he’s disgusting, great. dot. Only because of the worst Magnussen from bbc 1 point.
USSR
I had no choice left. It is noteworthy that Milverton does not have such a very very villainous appearance like all Moriarty and previous namesakes. He even has some kind of charisma and charm, or something. Have you seen many criminals with a villainous appearance? There is such a thing as suspicion. They should not stand out so as not to be caught. Often such scoundrels have a pleasant and sometimes beautiful appearance. The film doesn't forget about this. 2 points.
Result:
USSR 9+1+2=12 points
Granada 5+0+1=6 points
BBC 4+2+0=6 points
