The leaf sees people. Sparrow explains. Summer has come. It got too hot. Our poor leaf was very thirsty. He looked forward to it every night. Because there was light rain at night. The birds, animals and insects were so hot that even they did not want to do their business. they were idle. Flamingos walked lazily on the water and flapped their wings to keep them cool. Bears were swimming in the river. They felt good. Their fur was getting very wet, but they didn't pay attention. One bear cub even dozed while lying in shallow water. In the trees, in the nests, the chicks were silent from the heat and also dozed. On the banks of the stream, small birds rinsed themselves and preened their feathers. Insects sat on wet stones and drank drops of water. The fish were hiding under the stones. No rodents came out of their holes on the field. The snakes were under the sand because the sand is very cool. The crickets made loud noises. Suddenly a large group of people appeared far away. Heavy backpacks hung on their shoulders. They were approaching the forest. Several dogs were running after the people. After some time they were already sitting under our maple tree. began to rest. The leaf looked at them with great interest and curiosity. Then Willie asked his friend the sparrow, who was cleaning his leg with his beak: "What are they?" The bird answered him: “These are people. I told you about them.” "Yes. But they look very strange. What is this hanging on them?” “It’s called clothing and it’s made from cotton.” He spent a long time explaining the leaflet about clothes. Meanwhile, people near the forest made several large tents. Leaflet saw how several small people began to run, jump and scream around the tents. “These are children and they are still small. But they will still grow.” Then the children approached the maple tree and began to climb it. When we got a little closer to our leaf, it began to worry and tremble with fear. The children began to look at the leaves and flowers. Then they saw our leaf and wanted to pick it off. But a sparrow rushed towards them and chased the children away. The latter sighed resignedly and carefully climbed down from the maple tree. Willie thanked the sparrow. For the first time in his life, he was very scared, but everything went well. Later the children went into the forest. They saw a lot of mushrooms. The children quickly ran to their camp and took several baskets. Returning to the forest, they picked mushrooms. The leaf continued to watch them. Soon the children filled the mushrooms to the brim and took them to the camp. Adults praised them. They collected branches that lay near the forest and lit a small fire. The leaf was very surprised. He exclaimed: “What a beautiful glow! Isn’t this dangerous for us?” “It's called fire. He's too dangerous for all of us. Because of it, there may be a fire and then everything will burn. But if these people follow the rules, then there probably won’t be a fire.” “We have to be very careful.” Willie saw people frying mushrooms and eating them. Then they went in an unknown direction, only two adults remained in the camp. “I will follow them and tell you where they went.” Sparrow did just that. People stood on the river bank and caught fish with something. These were fishing rods. The sparrow sat on the bushes and looked at the people with fear. They didn't pay any attention to him at all. Having caught large fish, they returned to camp. Sparrow flew to Willie and told him everything. “What are fishing rods?” “This is when branches are carefully made into long sticks. There is also a small size. these are fishing rods.” Our little leaf remembered everything. Meanwhile, people began to discuss something. They talked loudly, argued, then laughed. Suddenly the dogs came out of the tent. they started chasing squirrels. They ran away in panic and climbed high into trees to avoid being caught. The leaf angrily asked the sparrow: “Who are these animals and why are they chasing my friends?” “These are pets, that is, dogs. People tamed them a long time ago and take them with them everywhere.” So that the leaf would not be afraid, the sparrow added: “They are just playing with the squirrels. Do not be afraid. There’s nothing wrong with that yet.” Willie calmed down a little. Evening came. People were getting ready to go to bed. They put out the fire and went into the tents to sleep. It became quiet. Leaf was so nervous that he couldn’t sleep. But later he fell asleep.
