Chapter 3 - Meeting with a resident of this world.
November 15, 2023 at 3:33 AM
As soon as the eldest son of the Sage of the Six Paths could stand calmly on his feet without any help, everyone began to get ready for the journey — the path promised to be long and difficult. After a night’s adventures, staying here is comparable to suicide, although such an emotional shake-up is needed to return the chakra. Some doubt that they will be able to awaken the powers of absolutely everything, but there are those who are sure of the opposite. The doubters included Obito and Izuna, and the confident ones included Madara, Shisui and Ashura. Indra and Itachi decided to remain neutral on the matter. Who knows what might happen? Maybe Ootsutsuki will be the only ones who can use chakra.
While they were getting ready, a sound similar to the one made by those monsters began to be heard outside. Everyone was wary. Do these cars really move during the day?
-I warned you.
Izuna looked at his brother. Madara said that such creatures can walk on the ground during the day. But the Uchiha didn’t think that it would happen so quickly.
Ashura decided to check what was there. Noticing Ootsutsuki leaving, Obito followed him. All the same, no one from his clanmates notices him, well, except for Shisui and Izuna, and he quickly found a common language with Ashura. Jumping out into the street, the Uchiha quickly found him. He stood on top of a collapsed canopy. Standing up, Obito looked in the direction Ōtsutsuki was looking. Something strange was approaching them.
-Do you think it is dangerous, like those two, or vice versa?
The Uchiha asked his question, turning his black eyes to look at him.
“I don’t know, Obito.”
The sound became louder, and this thing became clearer. Externally there was a similarity in the form of metal, but in appearance it’s hard to tell.
“You, if anything happens, shout, and I’ll follow the others.”
Patting him on the shoulder, Ashura quickly went down after the others. Obito didn’t even have time to say a word before there was no trace of him.
Sighing heavily, the Uchiha sat down in the shadows. Even though it was morning now, it was scorching hot, as if it was already day. Resting his head on his hand, Obito began to watch the rapidly approaching iron thing. She still had the same appearance, but she didn’t look as dangerous as those two giant corpses.
…As soon as Ashura came back, he was immediately taken aback. Everyone stood opposite the entrance and glared at him. This made him feel somehow uneasy.
-What’s there?
Indra interrupted this “ominous” silence.
-Hmm… I can only be glad that these are not the same creatures.
He continued smiling nervously.
-This… Honestly, I don’t know what it is, but it’s quickly approaching us.
Having bypassed his brother, Indra jumped out into the street. The others followed him. “Why is everyone so alarmed all of a sudden? Although after the night this is not surprising…” Sighing tiredly, Ashura threw his hands behind his head and followed the others. Everyone was wondering what was going on with them…
…As soon as Ashura stepped outside, he looked around. Everyone looked towards the approaching something.
-Do you think it is dangerous?
He asked walking up to Shisui and Izuna.
“I can’t say, but it looks… quite unusual.”
Shisui replied without taking his eyes off the road.
As it approached, everyone saw that it was made entirely of metal, just like the creatures. This thing was coming towards them, unlike the previous ones and it was much smaller than them. It was problematic to describe it fully, because little was familiar to them. (1)
The thing stopped in front of them. It really looked creepy. Especially because of the skull that hung in front. Having opened, as they understood, the door, a man of about thirty to thirty-five years old came out. (2) His clothes resembled those worn by Suna shinobi, but simpler.
The stranger took off his glasses and put them in one of the pockets on his vest. Out of habit, placing his hand on his holster, he decided to go in their direction, starting a dialogue with them. “If you trust the first person you meet, then sooner or later you are dead,” as popular wisdom says.
-Good afternoon! Do you need help?
(Good afternoon! Do you need help?)
Turning his gaze behind them, he continued.
—Did you swat those two?
(Are you the one who slammed those two?)
-What did he say just now?
Obito asked, to which Ashura shrugged. The guess about another world was only confirmed with the arrival of this stranger. Now I would like to understand what he is even saying.
…The man stopped a few steps away from them. “Seven people, that means… And apparently — Japanese, Chinese or Koreans, and maybe even Vietnamese.” Rubbing the bridge of his nose, he asked them the next question.
-How did you end up here?
(How did you end up here?)
Having asked this question, he became confused. The whole seven looked at each other. “What is he even saying?” — he heard from one of them. “Are they having problems with the translator?” — flashed through his head.
-Well, in that case, let’s try the trial and error method.
(Well, in that case, let’s try the “trial and error” method.)
Having said this under uncomprehending glances, he put his hand to his temple. A display panel appeared in front of his eyes that Seven couldn’t see. With a “wait a minute” gesture, the man began to delve into the language settings of his speech device. “Thankfully, at least it’s easier with them, they’re not Russians or anyone else with faulty speech recognition…” — having reached the linguistic block, he turned his brown eyes to them — “Now, let’s understand where they come from? Most likely Chinese, they are frequent guests.” Selecting Chinese from the menu, he asked them a question.
—Nǐ míngbái wǒ xiànzài zài shuō shénme ma?
(Do you understand what I’m talking about now?)
They looked at each other again.
-What?
One of them with a bandage on his head answered. “Are they really Japanese?” Quickly switching to Japanese. “The recognizer will need to be configured so that it can immediately identify the country. Better yet, finally update the firmware.”
—Watashi ga nani o itte iru no ka rikai dekimasu ka?
(Do you understand what I’m saying?)
-Yes. Now we understand everything, except where we are.
A man with a scar on the entire right side of his face answered.
-Wonderful!
Laughing slightly, he stated. Stretching his hand forward and smiling benevolently, he introduced himself.
—Stan. Stan Bridge.
—Uchiha Izuna.
The leader of a small detachment of “world travelers” introduced himself, shaking his hand in response.
-This is my brother Madara, and this is Itachi, Shisui and Obito. Also an Uchiha.
-One family?
Stan asked, looking at everyone. It was unusual to meet them in such a place.
-From the same clan.
Obito answered.
“It means clan… I wonder if it’s part of Crossways or Montula, or maybe from the locals?” Still holding his good-natured mask, he pointed to the remaining two who stood behind the Uchihas.
-And these?
—Ootsutsuki Ashura and my brother Indra.
Ashura answered, pointing first to himself and then to his brother.
-Nice to meet you.
- Mutually, my friends.
With a wide smile, he spread his arms to the sides.
-In that case, I will repeat what I already said.
Taking on a serious look, he began to carefully study the dossier on each person, asking questions that interested him.
-How did you end up here?
— Honestly, we don’t know ourselves.
Izuna admitted. Although it is better not to trust the first person you meet, he knows from hearsay, but there is still no other option.
—We woke up in the desert, in different places. And, by a lucky coincidence, we were able to meet here.
He pointed to a destroyed building that had once been a fuel station.
-Amnesia, I guess. Nothing happens sometimes.
-I doubt that after death…
Itachi elbows Shisui in the stomach. The Uchiha turned his gaze to his friend. From the look, he realized that he had almost said too much.
-Sorry?
Bridge asked, fixing his gaze on him.
-Nothing. Just thinking out loud. Nothing important.
He tried to excuse himself, to which the man nodded, apparently believing him.
“They are strange. There is no file on anyone. Delete on purpose? Or are they from the laboratory? At least without my equipment I won’t be able to calculate this. Namida’s help won’t hurt…”
-Well…
Clapping his hands, he sharply attracted attention to himself.
-Now tell me, how did you kill the Crabrolls?
-Whom?
Shisui asked. Stan both looked and gestured behind them. Seven turned around.
- So that’s what they’re called.
—Crabroll is a mutated crab. It lives mainly in the African desert, Latin America, and is sometimes found in the Southern States of America. They are generally peaceful, but if disturbed they can kill. It’s a shame not to know this…
-Alas, we are not local…
Obito said quietly, scratching the tip of his nose. Stan grinned and patted him on the shoulder as he passed by.
-Happens.
-You still haven’t answered the question.
Madara besieged Bridge, forcing him to look extremely serious. “Apparently it will be the most difficult to talk to him…” Stan turned on his heel and quickly answered him.
—You are in the USA, Navada state, not far from Las Vegas — the city of casinos and debauchery. Ten to fifteen kilometers and you will be there.
The seven looked at each other and mentally said: “There’s no point in asking about the villages…”.
-Can I still tell you?
Shisui asked in a whisper, leaning towards Izuna’s ear. The leader thought about it. And in truth, can they tell you that they are not from this world? In extreme cases, they are taken for crazy.
-A little bit later…
Answered him.
—Now we need to find out more about the world.
Shisui nodded understandingly. This opportunity came to them on the second day of their stay!
-So how did you kill them?
Bridge repeated his question. It is rare that anyone manages to survive their attack without loss. And these Japanese aroused strong doubts in him, although he skillfully hid it.
“My brother and I killed them using our techniques.”
Ashura said. Everyone mentally slapped themselves in the face. Apparently, he doesn’t particularly shine with intelligence, as Indra told the Uchihas.
“I thought they were from some kind of group.”
-Technician you say? And what, if not a secret? DF-57, AV-67-W, grenade launcher, machine gun, in the end?
By asking this question, he put everyone into a state of prostration. Stan noticed this. “Don’t they understand these terms at all?”
-Indra with the help of katonjutsu, and I with the help of my own — Amenomihashira.
Ashura, scratching the back of his head, nevertheless answered his question. Indra began to glare at his brother, without the Sharingan. I gave everything away clean…
— This is the first time I’ve heard about such technologies. But oh well! Then you show me and tell me about them, but now…
Turning his head to the left, away from the corpses, Stan visibly panicked.
“Now we need to get out of here as quickly as possible, before the Scavenger (3) comes here and hoards these specimens for himself.”
-Who is this Scavenger?
Itachi asked a question.
- Guys, he seems to be talking about this thing that is coming here…
Obito gestured towards the desert horizon.
As soon as they looked there, they immediately went into a state of shock. “She’s ten times bigger than these two!” — they exclaimed in unison. Although she was very far from them, they could see the outlines quite… clearly. The creature was entirely made of metal, which in the light gave off the color of rust. Several claw-shaped…hands. Now his panic is understandable…
Bridge quickly looked at the corpses of the Crabrolls — “It’s good that I’m on a truck, and not on a car or a bike…” Quickly heading towards the truck, along the way he patted Obito and Ashura on the shoulders, attracting attention to himself.
- You two will help me with loading the corpses, and you all climb inside. I’ll drop you off at our parking lot near the city.
He said quickly, speeding up on the last words. Although the Scavenger walked slowly, this does not mean that you can sit in such heat and wait for his arrival!
The Uchiha and Ōtsutsuki quickly glanced at each other. It seemed possible to trust him, but the fact that he could betray them or kill them was very likely. As a last resort, Ashura and Indra will be able to save them, or they themselves will be able to do it — if the chakra returns at that moment.
The older Uchiha went first, followed by the rest. Bridge was already on the steps of the cabin, opening the door.
- Obito! Ashura! You are in the cab with me, and the rest are in the back, just don’t touch anything there!
He shouted, slamming the truck cab door.
The named Uchiha and Ōtsutsuki complied with his request, and the rest went into the back. Stan started the engine of his truck. Obito and Ashura were surprised at first, but later they stopped showing it. It’s not like they’ll ever meet anything like this in the city. They are sure of it.
…The Uchihas and Indra went inside the body. There was little space, but that was enough for them. My eyes were immediately drawn to the strange things that were hanging in the closet hidden behind the lattice door, and there was much more there. But, at Bridge’s request, they did not touch anything. There’s definitely no point in grabbing everything you can get your hands on.
Noticing a bench that was welded to the wall, they sat down on it, without ceasing to examine the equipment of their new acquaintance… friend or enemy? The answer to this question is not yet clear.
-Do you think he can be trusted?
Shisui asked glancing sideways at Izuna and Madara, who were sitting on the corner side.
“You can’t trust anyone, kid.”
Madara answered, looking at him from under his forehead. He knows this firsthand — he himself had to be deceived by Zetsu, whom he considered the embodiment of his will. And in the end, he was betrayed and made a vessel for Kaguya. The Infinite Tsukuyomi was a lie created to bring the damn goddess back to their world from imprisonment.
Izuna silently agreed with him. He himself was tormented by doubts about this Stan, as he called himself. Shisui nodded understandingly. He didn’t expect any other answer. Looking around — Itachi was on the right, and Indra on the left — he fixed his gaze on the floor.
As soon as the transport started moving, the five shook slightly, rather weakly. Ōtsutsuki, who was sitting opposite the window, looked outside. They moved. “An interesting way of transportation…” he noted.
…The bridge hit the gas. The truck with the proxyl brake took off. “Judging by the distance, Scavenger will be here in twenty minutes, give or take ten minutes.” — Glancing briefly at his fellow travelers, he noted that they were extremely tense, although they were trying not to show it. “You clearly have something to hide…” he thought, returning back to the road.
Stopping between two dead men, Bridge jumped out of the cab. Obito and Ashura hesitated a bit when opening the door, but also went out. Stan ran around the truck almost at the speed of light, stopping in front of the side door of the truck. Opening it, he saw Indra first, and then the others. I glanced around the room — they didn’t touch anything, which couldn’t help but rejoice.
-I see that everything is in order for you.
He asked, smiling, looking around the frantic five with his brown eyes.
-You could say so.
Ōtsutsuki, who was sitting closer to him, answered.
-That is great! We will now load the bodies and move them to the base.
As soon as the door slammed shut, the shinobi exhaled in defeat. We’ve only covered a little distance, and there’s still no telling how much ahead. And how will they be treated there? It is possible that this person is only pretending and is taking them to their death…
…After checking the others, Stan ran to the panel that was located next to the gas tank of the truck. Opening the door, he extended his hand forward, first turning up his shirt sleeve. By pressing the buttons on the control panel, the truck body began to open, revealing to the light the device for transporting and loading cargo — in this case, the body. Stan pulled the plug out of his hand and connected it to the panel. A loading display appeared before his eyes.
—Synchronization successful.
The female voice of the ANJERS — 12 system announced. (4)
-Well, fine.
He stated, activating the arrow control device. Looking around, Stan saw that the Scavenger was already on his way. “Crap! I’ll only have time to pick up one…” he groaned in his thoughts. He got here faster than he thought.
- Guys, which one looks more presentable?
He shouted to them, pulling them out of prostration. Which was not surprising at all — he had managed to get used to their uncomprehending faces.
Returning to reality, Obito and Ashura went in different directions. They were, of course, shocked to see Bridge’s hand, but that was the least of all that happened in those two partial days.
Ashura approached the corpse of Crabroll, who was killed by his older brother. “And he spared no effort.” — he noted, looking at the monster’s head, or rather at what was left of it. The metal was straightened out so much that the side…things with the lanterns held their word of honor. This was clearly the “not presentable look” that Stan needed… “And why did he need them?” — With this question he returned to the truck. Looking up at the body, Ōtsutsuki was shocked: “And how does it fit in it?”
After examining the corpse that Ashura killed, Obito noted the power of this technique, although he did not see it up close. But from afar it was visible how the creature flew to the side, like an unnecessary thing. “Minato and Naruto’s rasengaga have something similar with this technique…” he noticed the similarities between them.
- Obito, what do you have?
Bridge shouted. The Uchiha came out from behind the creature’s head — Ashura was already next to him.
“It was as if nothing had happened to him!”
He answered, to which the man nodded understandingly.
-So, one of the two is at least good for something…
Stan said almost in a whisper.
The arrow with the rotator turned towards the corpse, near which Obito was. “Now we take it like a beautiful girl — carefully and tenderly…” he joked, as he usually liked to do. The cameras that were installed above the grab served as his eyes. “So… Just a little more…” he said slowly in his mind, “Done!”
Once the Crabroll was hooked up, Stan began moving it into the cargo area of the Angers body. The aliens watched this with genuine interest. They have something similar in their world — construction cranes — but this one is the pinnacle of it all!
The loading went faster than they expected, at least Bridge. Usually it takes him longer to do this, but taking into account the size of this mutant, he managed it in less than two minutes! Once the body was loaded and held by two cranes with scrap metal grabs, Stan quickly glanced towards the “huge problem.” The scavenger was already five kilometers away or less.
-Okay, guys, grab your bags, the steam is leaving. Quickly, let’s get out of here!
Shouting out, he turned to these two, running towards the cabin. At first they didn’t understand, but from the second phrase the meaning of the first came to them.
Climbing inside, Bridge started the engine of the old Aires, which he borrowed from Nigel — naturally without his knowledge. Having waited for fellow travelers, he stepped on the gas, leaving black clouds of smoke from the exhaust pipes of the truck and tracks from the wheels.
***
As soon as they drove about a kilometer, Obito and Ashura, looking in the rearview mirror, noticed this Scavenger.
-How huge he is…
Ashura interrupted the silence, to which the Uchiha agreed. It was the size of a Bijuu, either the Kyuubi or the Juubi he didn’t want to remember.
Noticing the interest in their eyes, Bridge decided to find out more about them. They were very suspicious, and he was taking them to the base. His bosses may give him a hard time.
“They achieve such growth when they are ready for their, so to speak, death.
I decided to start with the more obvious.
-Of death?
Ashura asked, turning his gaze to him. Stan nodded his head.
-Yes. They usually live about ten to fifteen years. Less often more. And when their moment of extinction comes, they literally kill themselves.
With this answer, he made the offworlders look at him questioningly. “And you really are interesting.” — he grinned, feeling the sidelong glances of misunderstanding and surprise mixed with shock.
-And why are they doing this?
Ōtsutsuki asked the next question.
—I doubt that metal will be useful for sand…
He tried to joke, to which Bridge grinned.
-That’s for sure. And jokes aside…
He took on a serious look and continued.
-…that’s how they leave their offspring. From the metal of their own body, they make many copies of themselves. Only a few survive, because it is much easier to kill a small one than a large one.
Ashura nodded his head as a sign of understanding. Apparently, this world is much more dangerous, cruel and, in its own way, unique. Obito listened to them, looking at this Scavenger. Right now, they were lucky enough to see this process of “birth and death.” “It dies, leaving behind offspring… And I died, leaving thousands killed behind me. And it all turned out to be in vain…”
Noticing the Uchiha’s depressed state, Bridge decided to change the subject. Something was clearly gnawing at him, and this aura of despair was especially felt.
-So, where will you be from?
—From So no Kuni.
Ōtsutsuki answered. The Uchiha looked at him without turning his head. “Not a tongue, but a broom…”
-Hi no Kuni. Konoha.
He answered detachedly. Stan took a quick look at them and immediately fixed his gaze on the road. It wasn’t enough for them to come here.
—We don’t have a single city or country with that name.
Suspicions grew, and almost no answers came, except for two options: the first, they are from the laboratory, the second, and the stupidest one, they are not from this world.
-And in our world there is.
Obito kicked him at that moment. Ashura only now realized that he had told him something that should not have been told. Now the problems will be serious.
Bridge fell into a stupor for a moment, but the truck didn’t let it last long. “So, the second option… The proof that aliens exist has already been reliable for at least seven hundred years, and about parallel worlds, probably for a thousand…”
-Your world you say?
Nodding to himself, he continued.
-Okay, dear aliens. Consider me your personal guide to our world, which is located in the Milky Way galaxy, in the solar system, on planet Earth, April 11, 2729 from the Nativity of Christ.
Obito looked at him from under his brows, and Ashura tensed. If anything happens, it will be his fault. Well, what can I say, we’re stuck…
