Chapter 4 - Getting to know the local contingent.
November 15, 2023 at 3:39 AM
They drove the rest of the way in tense silence. Now Bridge knew that they were completely out of this world. And what will he do with this knowledge? This was the question running through the minds of Obito and Ashura. If Ōtsutsuki felt guilty, then Uchiha felt his imminent death, for some reason… And he even knows who will be his executioner… If Izuna can still understand him, then Madara cannot. As soon as the others find out, he will wait for an opportunity…
The endless expanses of the desert flashed through the truck windows. Bridge kept his eyes on the road. He only glanced briefly at his unusual companions. Only in films did he see and hear about those who died and were reborn in another world. And now seven such lucky people are traveling with him. “Now I’d like to decide what to do with you…” He exhaled tiredly, to his thoughts.
—Is something bothering you?
Asked Ashura, looking at the thoughtful Stan. He shook his head, saying “nothing special.”
-No, Ashura. I’m just wondering how to make you understand us.
-And How?
The Uchiha joined the conversation, leaning his elbow on the door panel and resting his head. Bridge just shrugged his shoulders at this question.
-Well… I have one idea, but I don’t know if it will work. If you had implants, the market would be zero!
After changing gear I continued.
—And so you’ll have to follow the analogy with Max. Heh! We also have one without implants… Although before the mutation, he was all stuffed with them.
The men looked at each other. As they understand it, the implants are what they saw while loading the corpse. Wires that appeared right from his hand. And if this Max’s whole body is made of them… It’s something with something. But here another question emerges…
-What kind of mutation?
Bridge looked at Obito and Ashura, who were looking at him with interest. Stan chuckled. The Uchiha and Ōtsutsuki did not understand why there was such a reaction to such a seemingly simple question.
- You need to see this. There is no way to tell it in a fairy tale, nor to describe it with a pen. Just don’t be scared when you see him and Walress. They just became beautiful!
Stan laughed kindly, remembering these two. Even when they were people, they always spent their free time—and work time—over a glass of cognac or vodka, telling all sorts of jokes. And after the incident with the Minotaur, there were even more of them, especially about Walress. Poor, poor Wallace…
***
After driving a few more kilometers, they began to notice the outlines of the city in the distance. The aliens fixed their gaze on him. Noticing their undisguised curiosity, Stan couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. He himself experienced similar feelings when he first came here with Sanya and Namida.
A city with a population of almost two million people. One of the few that was able to survive the disaster of 2202. Then the Barakras swept through the entire planet and destroyed a lot of plants, animals, people… Now they are no more. The countries of Russia and China, together with the United States, were able to destroy them. Then not everyone was able to recover from such losses. And now in the world there are much fewer countries and living places that bloomed and in which life was in full swing. And the surviving people moved to large cities. And in front of them was one of them.
Las Vegas is the capital of Nevada. A casino city, as it is known throughout the world. But in reality, it is a city of slavery, lust and mafia. Anyone who wanted to hit the big jackpot here becomes a slave to the mafia. The red light districts are full of those who had to contact them…
Fortunately, they will leave him in a month. They like the life of a nomad. You go wherever you want and no one dictates to you except the rules of the clan.
…Turning off the road, they headed straight towards their temporary camp. The men looked questioningly at Stan, who didn’t even pay attention to it.
-Why not to the city?
Obito asked the question they were interested in.
—You see, not all cities welcome visitors.
He began the story without turning his head.
—Especially for us, the nomadic clan. We are like a pain in the ass for local servants of law and government. That’s why we have to huddle in the outskirts. Which, heh, we’re even glad about…
Nodding, the Uchiha decided to drop the topic. It reminded him of life in his own clan. They were also disliked…
Turning to the window, he and Ashura began to look at the city from afar. Tall, multi-story buildings—which reminded him of the towers in Amegakure no Sato—reached almost to the sky. They also noticed something strange floating among them. But alas, they can’t see it from here…
…After driving about two more kilometers along the border with the city, Bridge and the aliens reached the clan’s temporary base.
It was a small semblance of an outpost. Several one-story buildings were around one large two-story building, which, apparently, was the main thing. Next to them stood other cars, vaguely similar to the one in which they were traveling.
Stopping in front of the garage, Stan turned off the engine, thereby announcing the end of this “fun” trip.
- Well, guys!
By clapping his hands, he attracted the attention of the passengers to himself.
-Go get the others, and now I’ll quickly run for the keys. I need to move a couple of cars to the side.
Nodding in agreement, the trio dispersed. Bridge ran into the main building while Obito and Ashura stopped in front of the door.
-And how will you explain to them what you told him?
The Uchiha’s question confused him. He himself replayed the upcoming dialogue in his head more than once. And in all variants, Indra wants to kill him on the spot…
-I’ll tell you straight.
Ashura answered confidently and nodded to himself.
-Yes. And then whatever happens.
-In that case, good luck!
He said, patting Ootsutsuki on the shoulder. It will be a pity for him to lose it. For the first time in the seventeen years of his life as a Nukenin, he felt sorry for someone. What has this world done to him?
***
As soon as this monster stopped, the furious five exhaled. We got there… Finally, the end has come to this endless shaking on pits and potholes. Tired of sitting in the stuffy atmosphere, the Uchiha and Ōtsutsuki walked outside, meeting with the other two. Looking around, the shinobi looked at them in unison. Obito and Ashura immediately felt the pressure of Ki. Looking at each other, Obito made a “you first” gesture. Ōtsutsuki exhaled. Now all we have to do is wait for the outcome…
Indra immediately felt that something was wrong and his brother’s appearance only confirmed this. “Did I let it slip?” — he thought, looking at these two. Nobody knows what they talked about with the local. It is possible that their worst fears may now come true.
-Where are we?
Izuna asked the first question. Now this interested everyone much more than minor unrest.
-Now I will explain everything to you.
Ashura attracted all the attention. Five pairs of eyes looked straight at him, almost incinerating him. Turning back, he noticed Obito sitting on the steps of the stairs leading to the roof of the building. The Uchiha smiled back at him, crossing his arms over his chest, saying “begin.” The guy scratched the tip of his nose and put his hands on his hips. “So that means…” — mentally addressed him — “Okay, okay. After all, it wasn’t you who spilled the beans.” Nodding to himself, Ashura turned to the others. The shinobi waited patiently for an explanation. Taking a breath, Ōtsutsuki began to fill them in on recent events.
- In general, now we are in the camp of our new acquaintance’s clan, not far from the city. AND…
He hesitated, which was not surprising… Will they forgive his mistake or will they kill him? This is something neither the Uchiha nor he knew.
-I… I accidentally said that we are not from this world.
Having said these words, Ōtsutsuki closed his eyes. The heart began to count down the seconds until their answer.
Madara and Indra almost simultaneously closed their eyes, which only confirmed their certain relationship. They knew that one of them would spill the beans. True, both thought about completely different people…
Izuna turned his gaze to Shisui. “I told you that he would find out…” was the answer in his gaze. While they were driving, the Uchihas brought up this topic. Opinions were divided, but everyone agreed that it was better not to draw hasty conclusions. It is possible that Bridge and his clan will be their allies, not their enemies.
Indra took a few steps towards his younger brother. The Uchihas even wondered what he would do. After all, this is his brother.
Hearing approaching steps, Ashura opened first one eye, and then the other. Indra stopped a step away from him. From his unreadable look, he could not tell what awaited him. A tense pause occurred between them. Ashura was about to interrupt her, but the elder decided to do it first.
“I thought it would be you who would clear everything up.” You’ve always been that chatterbox.
-Sorry I…
-Eventually he would find out. And now let’s see how this ends.
Having said this, the elder Ōtsutsuki simply… left, leaving his brother with mixed feelings. He expected at least a blow to the head, but not this…
Not expecting such an outcome, Ashura fell into a stupor. And this is his brother? In their world, he kept talking about the rules and always severely punished those who broke them. And here, when he seriously blundered — Indra just… left! Now he is not the same brother as before. He has changed… Only in what direction is it difficult to say.
Lost in his thoughts, Ashura did not immediately pay attention to the approaching Izuna. Having stopped moving the back of his brother’s head, he turned his gaze to the leader, showing that he was completely attentive.
—Didn’t you talk to him about anything else?
He asked, crossing his arms in front of him. Since this happened, it is better to find out everything at once than to find out later… as problems arise in the future.
—Nothing about our world, but about this. Quite a bit, but these are quite important facts.
Izuna looked extremely serious. This information will allow them to master this completely unfamiliar place, where they had to practically start life from scratch.
-All in all…
Ashura took a deep breath. The brain still refuses to accept all this as right.
—In this world, people speak different languages, as we have already seen. All people also have implants. It’s difficult to explain, you will see them yourself and understand.
The Uchiha looked away, involuntarily grinning. What are these… implants that the son of the Sage of Six Paths talks about with a certain feeling of… fear? No, more like misunderstanding.
-And it’s all?
Ashura shook his head negatively. “Apparently not…” he thought, looking at him.
—Stan said that there is some kind of mutation in their world. He didn’t tell us anything about her. Only that you need to see it with your own eyes.
The Uchiha nodded his head in response. Apparently, they will be very interested here. Two days have passed, and there is so much new!
Turning his gaze to the city, Izuna thanked him for his time. As he passed by, he glanced at the others out of the corner of his eye. Obito, along with Itachi and Shisui, were happily chatting about something. Well, how they chatted… Shisui did most of the talking, and Obito sometimes inserted his word. And only Itachi stood and was silent, only occasionally smiling faintly at the jokes of his old friend. Indra walked around the buildings and local vehicles, examining them. Ashura leaned his back against the cab of the truck, fixing his gaze on the ground. But he didn’t see his brother anywhere…
Spinning 360, the Uchiha went in search of him. Losing him was not enough…
… Walking around the corner of the house, Izuna found his brother. Quite quickly, by the way.
Madara stood a few meters from the camp, looking out over the city. Without further ado, he approached him, standing next to his brother, Izuna directed his gaze forward. If Vegas was huge from afar, what is it like up close? Madara glanced at his younger brother who approached him and immediately turned his impassive gaze back to the horizon, on which the unknown loomed.
-So you will remain silent?
The elder broke the silence between them.
-Or did you just come here?
-So you’ll be angry at the words I said?
— Angry?
He looked at his brother questioningly and decided to remember their first meeting. Or rather, a conversation.
-Why did you decide that I was angry?
-Well…
Izuna drawled, folding his arms over his chest. Without turning to Madara, he continued.
“Your eternally gloomy face shows no other emotion.”
Madara just snorted at this statement. “I have a complaint too. He doesn’t like the face…” he thought as he turned back to the view of the city. Some strange flying things have already begun to be clearly visible above him. They still don’t know what it is, but they will soon find out…
Suddenly, a rumble was heard behind them. The brothers turned around. This sound was already more or less familiar, but unlike that one, this one was quieter and with strange impurities. After looking at each other, both came to the conclusion that it was time to return. Otherwise, they may miss important information regarding this world in which they will now have to live.
But before they had time to take even a step around the corner, they had to jump back. They almost got hit by one of those things. “Who was entrusted with managing this?” — they thought, but the answer itself was not long in coming. At the sight of this unfortunate driver, Madara could not hold back an ironic smile. After all, Obito was driving…
***
A minute before…
Almost the same second that Izuna left to fetch Madara, Bridge rushed out of the clan headquarters.
- Guys, sorry for the delay! I barely found the keys to the Mustang.
He attracted everyone’s attention. Looking at his new friends, Stan was missing two.
-Where are these, what’s their name… Izuna and Madara?
The Uchihas and Ōtsutsuki looked around. Indeed, the leader and his brother were not there.
-Perhaps they left?
Shisui put forward his hypothesis. Which could be quite possible.
Nodding to the possibility, Stan quickly walked around Nigel’s truck and tossed one set of keys to Obito. He didn’t understand why he threw him the keys to one of these cars.
“I hope you don’t need to explain how to drive a car?”
He asked a question, opening the door, to the Charger standing closer. Almost sitting down inside, Bridge encountered the eyes of people who completely understood nothing. Frozen in a half-bent state, I decided to ask them a question, with the hope that they knew how to drive.
-Don’t say that you don’t know how to drive.
In response, he received as many as five slow, negative nods. Stan raised an eyebrow in surprise.
-No fucking way…
I came to the extreme degree of oh… oh-oh-oh-oh-oh from the whole situation. “What century are they from?” — the voice of reason involuntarily shook. They don’t know anything about this world at all.
-OK then…
Straightening up, he motioned for the frantic five to come to him.
-Come here. Now Master Shifu will teach you kung fu.
Deciding not to dwell on these incomprehensible words, they approached him. Stan quickly went over each one. “Hello children. Today I will teach you drunk driving lessons.” — He grinned at his own thoughts. Sometimes such nonsense gets into your head… Max hasn’t been able to beat the crap out of him for three years now. Although he was never interested in her…
-So.
He patted Obito on the shoulder and continued.
-Well? Shall we start the lesson?
He said, looking him straight in the eyes. The Uchiha blinked. Is he serious now? Does Bridge want him to drive this?
But before the Uchiha could say a word, he was immediately seated inside. Brij hung over him like a hawk, and the others listened to his words. After all, they all guessed that their turn would soon come.
- So it’s like that. You and Ashura saw me drive. Look, the principle is the same.
First he pointed to the protruding lever in the middle.
—This is a gearbox. Five main and back. It’s identical on all cars. At the top are the first, third and fifth. Below are the second, fourth. Reverse before the second. First, pull left and down. And now the car is going backwards.
Next, Bridge pointed to the pedals that were under Obito’s feet. The Uchiha leaned slightly to the right to get a better look at them, while listening to Stan.
- These are pedals. What’s in the middle is the brake. You press and the car slowly stops. Right — gas. Pressed — went. It’s simple!
-And what’s that?
Obito asked, pointing to the left.
-What’s the left one for?
-Clutch.
He answered briefly. The Uchiha looked at him questioningly. “It looks like they’re really from the Stone Age…” Bridge thought, looking at him. An neglected case, what already…
-Look.
Taking two steps back, Stan began to illustrate the principle of the pedals and gearbox using his own example.
—When you start moving: first, your gearbox is in neutral. This is a lever strictly in the middle, as it is now. So, when you start the engine, you first press the clutch and engage first. You release the clutch and press on the gas and the car will move forward. The same principle applies to reverse. Have I made it clear to you now?
Five nodded in agreement, although Obito was reluctant. Now he was in a slight stupor. He learned so many incomprehensible words and confusing information in a minute. Now I couldn’t make a mistake. Again…
Having received a more or less positive answer, Bridge returned to the car. Closing the door—thus stopping all attempts to get out of it—Stan leaned his hand on the roof and began a practical exercise.
-Well? Start it up!
With a wide smile, he announced the start. But Obito, on the contrary, tensed.
Looking away, the Uchiha sighed resignedly. Why is he being punished like this? Although there is a reason…
Mentally crossing himself, Obito looked at the keys that Stan had given him. Remembering how he started this technique, the Uchiha inserted the key into the ignition and turned it. The car made a rather interesting sound, but it started!
As soon as the entire area was notified, Stan began to literally get high. “Rux sold us a good engine.” May always treated them quite cordially, which was rare for any self-respecting nomad. Although she had close ties with Crossways, she never abandoned Imsula. And now, Rux only benefits from the announcement of a truce between these two clans.
-Gas.
Bridge commanded as soon as the machine began to convulse. The Uchiha unquestioningly carried out his order. The equipment began to emit something similar, or rather vaguely similar to the roar of some wild cat.
Stan closed his eyes blissfully, enjoying the sound. He, Walress and Ritrace spent about two weeks assembling it from parts. And here is the long-awaited result. 728 horses, although the engine is from a lamb, it sounds good on a Ford. By luck, they managed to find the body of this Mustang in one of the Los Angeles landfills. The only pity is that the native engine was nowhere to be found. The sound does not match the appearance. This car should tear eardrums and circuit boards, and not whine pitifully…
-OK.
He interrupted his rapture with this sound. He’ll listen to more.
- Drive her there.
He said, pointing to the empty space between the two buildings. The Uchiha already wanted to insert his word, but Bridge did not allow him to do so. Patting the roof, Stan returned to the Charger. Throwing the keys to Ashura, he pointed to a nearby hatchback.
Sighing heavily over his difficult fate, Obito engaged the first gear, as Bridge instructed him. Fortunately, he had to watch this talker and joker drive all the way here. Holding down the gas pedal, this monster moved off, jerkily…
The others watched the pioneer. Bridge noted that it was not bad for the first time. I didn’t knock down the pillars; left no scratches or dents; didn’t hit anyone… But he immediately dismissed this thought as soon as the missing brothers jumped out from around the corner, right under the snowdrop’s wheels.
***
Present tense.
Having managed to brake in time — apparently, the skills from his past life were still preserved — Obito looked at these suicide bombers. “Fate.” — the brain answered, to which the Uchiha only grinned. A little more and he would have gotten rid of one problem that had pretty much ruined his life. May be…
At the sight of this loser avenger, Madara grinned, and Izuna exhaled in defeat. “What kind of childishness?” — he involuntarily asked these two silently. From the very first meeting they fight with each other.
Uchiha no Borey leaned on the hood of the car and looked at him through the windshield with an undisguised grin.
-And this is how you wanted to kill me? Pathetic attempt…
Obito could barely restrain the urge to press the gas pedal and drive that smug face to hell. The Uchiha opened the door to respond to this barb, but before he even had time to open his mouth, a sharp, incomprehensible and short sound was heard from behind.
The whole trio instantly looked in that direction. A column of two cars, driven by Stan and Ashura, had already lined up behind the Uchiha.
— Guys, let’s move your bazaar-station to later.
Bridge interrupted them, standing near the open door of his car.
“Obito, drive right between these houses and stop in the vacant lot there.” We’re right behind you.
Having said this, he returned back to the salon. Nodding, Obito slammed the door and began to wait for the leader to leave and one nasty face.
Madara, having exchanged glances with Izuna at first, glanced eloquently at Obito, wordlessly saying that this conversation would continue a little later.
As soon as the brothers were out of the way, Obito stepped on the gas. The Uchihas only looked after him, and then returned to the trio that stood at the entrance to the main building. Obito only glanced at them in the rearview mirror and turned his gaze back to the “road”. The Uchiha, of course, was slightly surprised that he was able to quickly master driving this thing, but here everything was extremely simple and clear. Not like the shinobi techniques he had spent years learning and honing. And now another question — why?
Stopping in the middle of a vacant lot, Obito instinctively clenched his hands. Exactly, for what? Why did he become a shinobi? To protect loved ones, the voice of reason answered him. But he just didn’t protect them… Almost eighteen years have passed since that day, and how many have he protected? No. With Rin’s death, he left this path, leaving his past, friends, and village. Thousands of dead. Thousands killed. There is so much blood on his hands, but what was it for? For her sake, reason spoke again.
The stream of thoughts about the past was interrupted by tapping on the glass. Coming out of prostration, Obito turned his head to the left.
- Turn off the engine and let’s go.
Bridge said in a muffled voice, waiting for him.
Shaking his head, driving away the now unnecessary thoughts, the Uchiha turned the ignition key, forcing the car to fall silent. As soon as Obito left the salon, closing the door behind him, a cool breeze with notes of dampness passed through his skin with light goosebumps. The trio almost simultaneously turned in the direction from which the cool air was blowing. “Rain” flashed through everyone’s thoughts. In the desert, rain is a rarity, so they were lucky. At least one day without this damn heat.
“It was raining then too…” the Uchiha remembered this ill-fated day again. Then Rin threw herself under Kakashi’s Raikiri. Then his life lost all meaning, except for one thing — to create a world in which they would be together again…
Noticing Obito’s depressed state again, Bridge could only guess what he was thinking about, constantly withdrawing into himself. “It would probably be better to talk about this topic a little later.” — noted in his fictitious diary, which he rewrites twenty times a day.
Stan approached him and put his hand on his shoulder. Obito immediately came out of his stupor.
- Let’s go, otherwise they’re already waiting for us. And I still need to introduce you to so many…
Having embraced the slightly drunken Uchiha, Bridge almost forced him to walk. He, of course, had never behaved like this with strangers, but here, having met aliens, he somehow warmed to them. He was especially impressed by Shisui, Obito and Ashura — they all had similar natures. It’s also something similar with Izuna, but with the others it’s a stretch… Itachi and Indra, for the most part, are silent all the time, and Madara evoked rather conflicting feelings in him. “I need to have a serious heart-to-heart talk with you, Obito. It’s not just that you get along with each other…”
***
Almost dragging the Uchiha along by the scruff of the neck, Stan and Ōtsutsuki reached the rest of the otherworldly people. Fortunately, Sanya is not here now, so there is still time to think about the upcoming dialogue. Especially with such a hot-tempered leader of the Imsula clan. And there is no one… Although this should not worry him. It’s the leader’s business, not Bridge’s.
- Well, friends, is everything in place?
He asked smiling widely. The local’s openness infuriated Madara and Indra a little — both were reminded of a couple of personalities. But at the same time, at least some sense came from his chatter. Find out information about the world? As easy as pie! He will bring everything to them on a silver platter. So, now he is valuable… a captive, so to speak, but until the need for him disappears.
“Since no one else is lost, we can go and get acquainted with the small company that remains here.”
Opening the door, Bridge pushed Obito inside and called the others along with him in an inviting gesture. Those who were braver — and these were Ashura and Shisui — went first, and then the rest.
…Bridge led his offworlders straight to his first victim — a good old warrior of the digital world from the Apache tribe. Dangerous people… Like their ancestors, if you say something bad towards the Apache, you will quickly get scalped.
Seeing a representative of a long-extinct tribe on the horizon, Stan raised his right hand, palm forward.
—A proud American greets a renowned Apache warrior. Please do not scalp me. My friends are with me.
— Oh come on, proud American.
“Oh come on, proud American.”
A girl about sixteen years old answered. She had so much iron on her that she could truly be called a warrior. But, again, she speaks in a completely different language.
—Where did you find these beauties?
“Where did you find these beauties?”
She asked, resting her head. It’s quite rare to see new faces, but here there are seven at once.
—And why do you speak Japanese? Decided to change citizenship?
“And why do you speak Japanese? Have you decided to change your citizenship?
- Heh, no…
Remembering the aliens, he continued.
— Guys, this is Namida Apache. She is our mechanic and an excellent hacker.
— Well, excellent is a strong word. Rather, just good.
“Well, excellent is a strong word. More like just good.”
Apache quietly corrected him. She, as they say, is like China — she still has a long way to go to reach that level. So he teases me about his last name, but here he constantly almost ascribes the level of an ace in the hacker business. She is an amateur.
-Do not be shy. You’re doing pretty well. Even Carter says this all the time. Okay, we digress.
Turning around in profile, Bridge finally decided to introduce the aliens to her.
-Namida, this is Obito, Ashura, Itachi, Shisui, Indra, Izuna and Madara. They are Japanese, as you already understood from my speech. And… they are not from our world.
After this phrase, Namida could not hold back her laughter. The shinobi remained the same — serious. And now they somehow began to regret that they had to tell them about their non-belonging to this world.
—hahaha, funny, funny Stanley. But seriously?
“hahaha, funny, funny Stanley. But seriously?
Here she had to face eight looks that said it was true. Immediately adopting a serious expression on her face, Namida looked at everyone.
— Seriously?
“Seriously?”
She asked them. They, in turn, turned their gaze to Bridge. Then he quickly realized: “I completely forgot.”
—Namida, they don’t have implants at all, so can you change the language to Japanese?
-Already.
She notified her old friend. As always, Stanley is a few days behind the times.
“I can see from your look that you forgot to update your linguistics again.” Luckily, I was able to find a new model…
Opening the desk drawer, Apache took out a package. What it was, only these two knew.
-If you want, I can install it.
Bridge, not believing what he saw, took the package with Anvero’s inscription in his hands. After turning it several times, he turned his perplexed gaze to her. She just shrugged.
“They’re not even on sale yet.” Where?
“I brought the box with a drone.” I have one for everyone. We can supply them too.
- Only Max will do this.
Minted it right away. Ritrace is an experienced ripper, and she is just a mechanic — it’s better not to take risks…
…While the two were exchanging words—now in understandable language—someone suddenly bumped into Shisui. Having touched Itachi, the Uchiha heard something fall to the floor behind him and groan. Seven turned towards the sound. A girl, about ten years old, was lying right on the stone floor, rubbing her bruised back… with an iron hand. She had four arms — regular and metal.
Shisui knelt down in front of her, helping her up.
-Are you okay?
The girl nodded, saying a strange phrase — “Sorry.” Quickly looking around at those present, she ran towards these two, breaking their idyll.
— Quite unusual, isn’t it?
Shisui asked the others. They nodded silently.
Obito motioned for Bridge to come over. He realized that they needed an explanation.
- Stan, uh… what is this?
The Uchiha tried to ask, showing this semblance of a vest on himself.
—First of all, don’t show it on yourself—it’s a bad omen. Secondly, we do not talk about this topic. If you want to know more, talk to her sister. The girl’s name, by the way, is Alice Silver, and her sister’s name is Dakota Diaz.
Obito, along with Shisui and Ashura, nodded their heads in understanding. Apparently, the story is hard-hitting, since he reacted this way, afraid of touching old wounds.
As soon as Alice took something from Namida, she ran past the offworlders, almost knocking over another person. This guy somehow reminded me of Obito Hatake — but only with a half-face mask. Nothing more…
The man quickly glanced over the strangers. Saying, again, an incomprehensible “Hello,” he shook hands with Ashura and Izuna, and walked past all this pandemonium, as if nothing interested him. After exchanging a few words with Apache and Bridge, he disappeared as quickly as he had appeared. “Strange guy…” flashed through all the shinobi’s minds.
-This is Carter. He is our professional hacker. Don’t look at these oddities — he’s always surfing the net. Everyone is trying to hack someone.
Namida spoke briefly about him. Four of the seven nodded. So many unusual…
— Guys, you go straight down the corridor and to the right. Rest, otherwise you are tired from the road.
Having looked where Bridge was pointing, the offworlders obediently walked there. Only when Obito walked past him, Stan stopped him.
-Stay for a couple of minutes. I want to check something. Namida…
He attracted her attention.
—Listen, Max seemed to have some devices, well, that he was fiddling with.
—Do you mean adaptation devices?
-Yes. Can you bring one of the prototypes?
Looking at the Uchiha, the girl nodded in agreement. She had already guessed that he wanted to test them on him.
Moving away from the table, Namida walked past them. As soon as Obito looked at her… at her feet, he was taken aback and the level of his misunderstanding suddenly jumped to the maximum. After all, she didn’t have legs, human ones at that. Instead, they are spider-like ones made of metal. Apache noticed the stranger’s attempt to ask a question, however, he couldn’t find words other than sounds.
—Gasperatus unraveled me, and Max was quickly able to connect implants to me. That’s why I’m still alive. Well, you see for yourself…
Obito nodded understandingly. “This is a dream.” — he repeated to himself. Yes, because this in principle cannot be! Okay, he himself is a fluke. Okay, in their world there are clans with oddities, you can still get used to it, but here… Sorry, this is unrealistic.
Apache, like a real spider, wandered behind this very device. Max, after the mutation, actively began to study it. His new body did not allow implants, otherwise it would become useless. This greatly affected the perception of the outside world.
Once she found them, Apache took one of them and returned back.
…When Namida returned, she immediately put the frame on Obito. He already wanted to ask a question, but his attempt was cut off in the bud.
- So, look. This device is called UACVM — an adaptation device to the outside world. Give me a sec…
