Skye the Bavoomian
5 hours and 12 minutes ago
"Another button down," Skye said gloomily as she was busy dressing herself in the school uniform that she, alongside many other students, were required to wear. She was thankful that her mother was able to customize the uniform in a way that fit her best, but it wasn't enough to make Skye feel better about today. Recently, she was given the news that Zephyr enrolled her into this new school she opened up, and as though it was a good idea, she thought she could at least have Skye become part of its campus.
It was a great choice, maybe, but not for the young Bavoomian girl herself. Sighing deeply, she looked at the giant mirror standing elegantly in her large bedroom, where the reflection of her teal body that was covered in this uniform was staring right back at her.
The school uniform consisted of a red button up shirt with orange sleeves and collar, as well as the school insignia embedded on the upper left portion of the chest. Skye, her emotions still broken and heavy, gave off a fake smile in the mirror as she hovered away from it and walked up to her door, only to be met with her mother coming in. Zephyr was dressed in her usual black suit with a red necktie as she appeared through the doorway and had a hopeful expression on her face, clashing with the depressed Bavoomian kid. Zephyr padded up to Skye and placed a gentle hand on her cheek as if to reassure her daughter from the horrid events that took place.
"I know it's been hard without your father," she said as she wrapped a comforting arm around Skye, "but this will be a new beginning for you. Just get rid of those negative thoughts and battle through!"
"T-Thanks, mom," Skye responded meekly, her voice still low and somewhat broken inside. Zephyr gave her quick hugs and a small kiss on the cheek before walking out of her daughter's bedroom, but stopped when she said, "also, I might be heading off before you, so your friend Oxygen will be walking with you, right?"
"Oh, of course!"
Skye's ears had shot upwards at the mention of her best friend's name, the young Yoojic who spent the majority of his childhood with her. Oxygen was part of the Clean Air Club alongside Brabbit and Bavoom, where their friendship had started during a little party Skye's late father had held days prior to his death. Ever since that incident, Oxy helped out in any way he could, thanks to his parents' closeness with Zephyr.
Now my luck's beginning to turn! Skye thought to herself happily as she fixed her collar, walked out of her room, and closed the door. Walking downstairs to the living room, Skye headed to the front door and was met with the playful demeanor of her best friend. Oxygen, who was only two years older than Skye, was also dressed in the same uniform, but it was a different color; it was a dark shade of blue with lime green sleeves and collar.
"About time you've awoken, buttertoes!" Oxy jokingly chirped, the clouds on his head waving a bit.
What the heck, Oxy? Don't call me buttertoes, what does that even mean?
"Yeah, I haven't been feeling well," Skye replied as she looked forward to the road ahead of them, only to be met with a slight thump on her arm. Turning her attention to the feeling, it was just Oxy handing her a light blue backpack while he had a snowy white one already in use.
"Mrs. Zephyr wanted me to give this to you!" Said the Yoojic as he handed the bag to his Bavoomian friend and watched her put it on. The backpack was filled with books, much to her surprise, but it still felt light when she either carried it or had it on her back at all times.
"I know. Pretty light, huh? My Dad made that!" Skye chuckled at her friend's remark while she closed the front door and locked it. On their way to this new school, the bothered Bavoomian kept her head low and continued her usual brooding. It had still been morning time as the sun has yet to make an appearance in the sky, the colors of dawn still hanging in the air, but Oxy knew that the morning time wasn't the problem.
"I honestly don't understand why you find this to still be a good day," Skye finally spoke after hours of silence, "life isn't some cheesy high school sitcom where everything is perfect."
"Skye, it's been eight years since your father died in that massive fire," Oxy explained, "and I really don't think you should keep moping about such loss. It's best to look forward than backwards. I promise you'll do great here."
Skye casted a sideways smile as she looked at Oxy and nodded her head. "I know I do, but that really wasn't what I was thinking about. What I want to know is why my mom signed us up for this."
The Yoojic let out chortled laughter as he shook his head.
"C'mon, girl! Your mom would be crazy enough not to enroll you or me in that school! You're going to love it there, like I already do. I'm going to join so many clubs, meet my new BFFs, and even..."
Oxy's cloudy face had slowly shaded from the snowy white color it was to the colors of a ripe tomato. Skye knew what else he had been thinking about, mostly from this emote alone from her best friend.
"Think of all the cute Alien girls I get to talk to."
Skye chuckled a bit at her friend's remark before she turned her attention back to the road, where millions of other Bavoomians were scrambling from left to right on this air filled planet as most of them were playfully swaying themselves in the wind. Up ahead, Skye found an odd looking vehicle from far away at the center of this windy planet, much to her surprise.
However, Skye's suspicion came to an end when she realized that the person inside the front portion of it was none other than their Cloud, their Brabbiter friend. As usual she looked as if she had been partying all night long, judging by the obvious necktie tied around her midriff body instead of her neck.
"Cloud, my main woman!" Oxygen called as he ran up to her with Skye slowly treading behind, "the life of the party! How was Ranbarumba?"
"It was fun," Cloud responded with a raspy tone of her voice, "get in the car, I'm still hungover from that night."
"Then how are you driving?" Skye asked as she jumped into the backseat next to Oxygen and clicked in her seat belt.
Cloud rose her head up in surprise, her face going blank. "Y'know, I'm just as surprised as you are..."
