Corpse continent series book two: Rise of the Arcane kingdom

The city of Astraea the newly built capital of the Arcane kingdom after the cataclysmic destruction of the three cities Dragon and his family had brought together the survivors of this cataclysm helped them rebuild and gave them the tools they needed to reclaim the hope they lost and move forward and to ensure that no one gets left behind Dragon would work tirelessly to create a place where peace is constant and opportunity and joy are everywhere His first official act was the construction of a school for all ages where the teachers were people with skill and life experience and a desire to pass down all they have learned over their life Dragon and Hela would of course take part of it even their own children would as well despite being young and also students their imagination and creative natures would personal favourites among the younger kids just starting their introduction to magic When someone asked if this is really a school for all ages the answer is yes children who wish to learn and receive an education adults who wish learn a new form of magic or several even elderly who simply don't want to spend their time sitting around doing nothing the Astraea academy for all is what the name suggest 'for all' and even if you are a student everyone has something to share be it magic, carpentry, architecture etc. anyone can learn if open anyone can teach if able Dragon next act was to help those still grieving the ones they lost in the cataclysm many people have been who committed suicide and Dragon want to do something about and so he ordered his officers to collect everyone willing to come with them and bring to one spot where Dragon would be waiting to talk to them he wouldn't begin be saying 'You should let go.' No no instead he had another he would tell them a story about he lost his mother and first family when he shared the story of his mother what he remembered about her what loved about her and how he lost the others began to open up about who they lost and what they remembered and loved about them This seemed to work well at least for a few people sharing their pain and trauma of course didn't erase what happened no one expected to but it did help some people open up and connect with others but some were still not willing to do the same but even with those people around the suicide rate had gone drastically no more were dead bodies being on the side of the street or in people homes which was a good and welcomed sign With the people more connected this has lead to them coming together and sharing complaints and eventually these complaints would their way to Dragon some were understandable like fore example: The need for underground shelters and reinforced buildings in case of another cataclysm something the king definitely was going to make reality. but there were a few that caught his eye for the wrong reasons like: Permanently banning magic and erasing the concept for good. This concerned Dragon he knew some people were still upset and angry he just couldn't imagine them aiming their anger at magic itself Dragon separated the complaints into two piles reasonable and unreasonable, their was nothing he could about the unreasonable pile but as for the reasonable ones he employed the help of the Antlers, dragon, drakkia, Anansi, Chiron and Vulcan in the creation of underground bunkers and tunnels that connect to the two nearest kingdoms the Antlers and the Drakkia kingdom should another cataclysm the people won't have to suffer it again for thanks to a early warning system the people would be warned ahead of time to move underground hide in their bunkers and follow the underground tunnel in place to take them to safety With the early warning system and emergency escape route in place they would emergency drills to train the people so that in the worst case scenario they know what exactly to do and where to go to see if they understand the assignment the dragons from Drakkia would serve as a fake cataclysm and as well as watchers to see how well the people were paying attention when Dragon told them what they needed to do in this situation Once the people saw the dragons fly overhead they moved quickly taking what was essential their children, their personal possessions as well as some food for they journey after entering the bunkers they began walking through the tunnels and after about three hours of quick but steady walking they emerged from the tunnels where they found their king Dragon waiting for them applauding thanking them for their cooperation With the people now trained to better handle a cataclysmic events they enjoyed the peace in their new city with Dragon placing himself in charge of maintaining that peace and training his son Orion to be ready to take over for him as king when he is ready by having him right by his side watching him work and how his father handles situations with people both the reasonable and unreasonable ones and Dragon would even let his son take over certain situations like when discussing where to build new roads and machinery for them and each time Dragon was left proud With his son in training to be king Dragon split the work between himself and his son the more difficult ones for Dragon and the slightly easier work to Orion and for years they worked to maintain peace in Astraea while Hela worked on making sure the people of the city could best enjoy the peace her husband and son worked towards with the help of the rest of their children
