"Wait, Evie!"
The girl just squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, pressed her lips tighter and continued walking.
"Stop..." panting Dag caught up and even slightly overtook the daughter of the Evil Queen, stopping right in front of her.
"What do you need?" Evie asked in a frustrated voice.
"Why are you running away from me? We haven't been in touch for a few days. Why?" Doug looked her straight in the eyes.
"If you try to touch me, you may die," Evie patiently explained to him as a little one.
Seeing Doug's uncomprehending frown, she just sighed heavily.
"But surely this spell can be broken somehow? It can't be that nothing happened!"
"I don't know how," Evie shook her head.
"But after all…"
"I can't, I can't destroy them!" the girl screamed in despair, turning away from the guy.
"You can, I'll help you," the Dopey's son simply replied.
The blue-haired woman squinted and sighed, hiding her face in her hands. Her gut told her that Doug would not deceive her, but she could hardly believe it.
"I... don't know," Evie whispered, "I..." "scared" almost escaped her lips, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she pressed her lips together and shook her head, clenched her hands into fists.
"Evie," Doug said, "I know you saw what happened to Audrey, too, but she approached Mal with malicious intentions, wanted to hurt her by mentioning her mother and her grandparents. I don't want anything like that, believe me," he was ready to beg, if only the girl would believe him.
He came closer, practically invading her personal space, and Evie seriously began to worry that he was about to be thrown away from her. He cautiously stretched out his hand, apparently deciding to take a chance, but Evie hurriedly took a couple of steps back.
"Don't," the girl said almost pleadingly. But Doug came back to her.
"Don't run away from me, please," Doug asked, raising his hand and offering it to Evie. The daughter of the Evil Queen looked at her warily, a holy horror reflected in her eyes. She took another step back. Then the girl looked at Doug and noticed the disappointment on his face, he lowered his head and turned away. Suddenly she felt ashamed of her actions and approached him.
Of course, she promised her mother to bring the prince, but in the end, it's not the Evil Queen who chooses, but her daughter, and she considered Doug not the worst option, especially compared to Chad.
"Doug..." she said and he paid attention to her. She held out her hand to him herself, but cautiously, afraid that he would be hit by the shield and ready to remove it at any moment if he suddenly pushed her away.
The guy held out his hand to her in response and the girl could not believe her eyes when they touched. The Simpleton's son smiled and the Evil Queen's daughter smiled too, feeling relieved. It turns out they were kindred spirits. Evie didn't believe herself, her thoughts were confused, but she was so happy that she was bursting from the inside.
Dag kissed the daughter of the Evil Queen and she gladly answered him.
