FPE Impetus AU: Grading

Lizzy, Petunia, and Cubbie walk out of the classroom. Petunia: Cubbie, would you like me to ask my mom if she could buy anything for you? Cubbie (On Notepad): We’re not going to be studying at your home today. Mrs. Aminia is letting me live at her home. Petunia: That’s great. We’re both happy that you won’t be leaving on the street. *Cubbie takes a little bit of time to respond. * Lizzy: Do you want to talk about something? *Cubbie shakes their head to say “no”. * Petunia: Engel felt a lot better when he talked about how he felt. Just tell us. *They exit the school. * ???: Lizzy? *Lizzy turns around, seeing Lilly crying. * Lizzy: Hi. What’s wrong? Lilly: Can I talk to you alone? Lizzy: Okay. *Petunia and Cubbie move away. * Lilly: One of my friends died today. Lizzy: What happened? Lilly: *Lilly wipes away her tears and tries not to cry. * Chip wanted me to give some food to Miss Circle. It was from Zip. I said no, but June took my place. She took the food and brought it to Miss Circle’s room. Me and Chip went to her classroom and we found her. … …. Her body was in pieces. … *Lizzy’s expression changes to one of anger. * Miss Circle nearly found us in her room. If she knows that we saw June, she’ll kill us. Please don’t do anything. I don’t want me or Chip to get hurt. Lizzy: *Lizzy calms down. * Okay. I won’t bring it up to Zip. *Lizzy notices Lilly’s arm covered in dark spikes. * What happened to your arm? Lilly: I *Lilly starts to tear up a little. She isn’t confident that Lizzy won’t tell her dad like she assumed Miss Sasha did. * ∆lice tried fixing it. It doesn’t hurt as much now. Lizzy: How did it even get hurt? Lilly: I can’t tell you. Lizzy: Why? Lilly: I can’t tell you. Lizzy: Why does - Lilly: Is it okay if I can stay with you and Petunia during break? I don’t want to be alone. Lizzy: I guess you can. *Lilly walks onto the bus to return home. Lizzy, Petunia, and Lizzy start walking again. * How is Mrs. Aminia’s home? Cubbie (On Notepad): It’s great. There are beds and food. Petunia: Most homes have those things. Why are you so impressed by that? *Cubbie doesn’t write a note. * Lizzy: You don’t need to be ashamed if there’s something wrong. Cubbie (On Notepad): You’re right. I’ll tell you later. *They arrive at Mrs. Aminia’s home and knock on the door and she opens it. * Mrs. Aminia: Hello Cubbie. Cubbie (On Notepad): We’re studying for a test tomorrow. *Mrs. Aminia lets them into her home. Lizzy and Petunia study for their math test. Lizzy leaves and Petunia stays behind. * Petunia: Mrs. Aminia. Can I ask you about Kevin and the school? Mrs. Aminia (Sadly): Yes. Petunia: Are you apart of that group? I saw the bracelet. ∆lice and Miss Grace are the only other two who have it and they know about all of the dead students.  Did you know that Kevin would be in danger? Mrs. Aminia: I am involved. I didn’t kill anyone. I just provided funding. I sent Kevin because I believed that the funding would persuade the teachers to spare him. But to be honest, I was able to get through that school with grades since I wasn't a part of the cult at the time. I thought he could survive the same way. I - I shouldn’t have assumed that he could’ve done what I had. I’m sorry. *Petunia goes silent and then leaves alongside Lizzy. * Petunia: Do you want to sleep over at my house again? Lizzy: *She calls the orphanage. * They said yes. *They enter Petunia’s home. Mrs. Cone lets them in. * Thank you for letting me stay, Mrs. Cone. *Lizzy stays in the living room again. Petunia goes to her room to retrieve her cleaning supplies. Petunia’s room is completely clean. No trash is present. There’s a fan placed in the corner of the room and shelf with a holder for her crown. A family portrait is nailed to the wall. * “How could Kevin’s mom do that? She’s the reason why everyone is dead. If she didn’t give any funding, then maybe the school would’ve been shut down and my friend wouldn’t be dead. Considering how obvious those deaths were, why didn’t the students leave? Were their parents just like Mrs. Aminia? Are my parents like her? “ Petunia thinks. Petunia walks back downstairs. Her mom is talking about something on the phone as piles of papers sit on the table. Petunia: Mom. Mrs. Cone: *She puts the phone on mute. * Yes. Petunia: I want to talk about the school you’ve sent me to. *Mrs. Cone turns her head to look at Petunia. * Do you know about the students who went missing? *Mrs. Cone shakes her head. * My friend died at school. A bunch of other people died as well. Even a teacher and kindergartener. I’d like to transfer to another school alongside Lizzy. Mrs. Cone: It’d be expensive. I can’t. Petunia: Do you care more about money than my safety? Mrs. Cone: No. You’ve been able to get good grades and you have Cubbie helping you study. I think it’ll be fine. Petunia: *Petunia’s face turns to anger. * That’s the same reason that Kevin got killed. He got great grades and he still died. Mrs. Cone: Maybe he would’ve survived if he had perfect grades. *Petunia stays silent. She goes back upstairs and prepares her and Lizzy’s hair for tomorrow while they study for their math test. *
