*Although Engel's day has reached its conclusion, RUBY's day still must be addressed. We'll be going through the day from her perspective. *
RUBY has been in sleep mode, still hoping that Riley would apologize to Petunia and Lizzy. Those thoughts are interrupted with her guilt over Skell and Robby's dem*se.
As she looks through her memories, she sees one that occurred at the first day of school. ... The day where Claire, Abbie, and Lana lost their l*ves.
*Engel stares at Claire's mangled b*dy. The other teachers, most of the other students, and principal have left. As they leave, one student inevitably finds the d*ad bodies of Abbie and Lana, causing another scene that she hears. The only ones who are still there with Engel is RUBY and Bubble. *
~
Returning to what RUBY saw:
*Bubble slowly walks towards Engel. She places her hand on his shoulder. He doesn't react. *
*Engel cries alongside Bubble. *
*Engel is the first to stand up, as he walks away and goes to his locker. Bubble tries to follow, but Engel says something to her in a quiet tone, preventing RUBY from hearing it. *
*RUBY walks towards her locker, but Bubble approaches her. *
*...*
*As Engel puts in the code for his locker, RUBY walks towards him. He wants to ask her to leave, but ... he already regrets being so mean to Bubble when she only wanted to help. *
RUBY: Engel, do you want to talk?
Engel: What do - no ... I can't.
RUBY: Alright. I just wanted to suggest something.
Engel: ?
*RUBY hands Engel a sock puppet from Lana and Claire's bow. Although, ... they don't have bl*od on them for some reason. There's also small note with a phone number on it. *
Engel: Where did you get these?
RUBY: I ... got it from their lockers. They had spares. I couldn't find much in Abbie's locker. Sorry.
Engel: ... thank you.
RUBY: no one deserves to be forgotten. I hope you have a nice day, Engel. If you ... if you want to talk, you can call with the number on the note.
*There's a bitter feeling in his stomach when he thinks about why this happened. *
"All of this because they got bad grades. " He thinks.
*He sits down. He feels as though he's going to break down. A small part of him desperately wants to cry again. Let himself feel every negative emotion. He knows it'll just be a waste of time. It won't bring them back. *
*He retrieves everything from his locker and walks out of the school with Bubble. *
*This is where RUBY's memories end. From here, we move from RUBY's perspective to Bubble's. *
*When he exits the school, RUBY says something. *
Bubble: You should go to the hospital. Your eye is damaged.
Engel: I ... okay. I'll go, but you don't have to follow me.
Bubble: I know. But you need someone. Everyone needs someone else sometimes.
Engel: ...
*They make their way towards the bus stop, as its the quickest way to the hospital. *
Bubble: ... It's okay if you want to cry.
Engel: ...
Bubble: You're not weak or immature for it.
*Engel tries his best to avoid tearing up. *
Bubble: ... Please.
Engel: I don't deserve to cry. So many other people deserve to cry in my place. They've lost so much more than me. Abbie, Lana, Cl- *Engel stops himself from saying the last name. * Their parents would be so ... upset. Angry. Mortified. It'd be selfish for me to cry now.
Bubble: ... I never thought about how their parents would feel.
Sadness isn't something that only they get to feel. Your tears shouldn't be hidden because others could shed them.
It's okay, Engel.
*It's strange, from Engel's point of view, how she can say all these things. She's never been this outgoing with her emotions, yet these ideas she has about them are more genuine than what he'd ever hear about the subject. *
*Despite this, he still doesn't cry. He can't. *
*The bus arrives. He starts to walk onto it - *
Engel: ... I ... thank you Bubble. I - ...
*The bus door closes. It drives away. Bubble is left at the bus stop.
All she can focus on are the parents of those who were lost. It isn't fair that they don't know.
She wishes she could tell them. *
*We return to RUBY's perspective. *
`
*RUBY finishes reviewing the recording of that day. Everything she saw, heard, and believed during that time is saved to a hard drive for her to view. *
*There are more parents who must mourn the loss of their ch*ldren. Robby. Bubble. Skell. Kevin. She could never imagine the loss they must feel. A small amount of regret occupies her code. The objects she gave to Engel could've been given to their parents. *
*She couldn't even t- *
*She realizes something.
She still has Robby's phone number.
It's not for his phone. It's for his house in general.
Someone else could be there. *
*When morning occurs, she calls the phone. *
