FPE Impetus AU: Grading

RUBY: Hello, Cubbie. Do you want something? Cubbie (Whispering):Ruby. I've been considering creating a study group with the remaining students to improve their grades with you helping me. Will you join me? RUBY: Yes! Cubbie (Whispering): I was hoping we could help the students with the lowest grades. Lizzy's doing poorly in math while Petunia's having issues with science. Robby needs help with language class. RUBY: I think I can try to help Robby with his Language class. Cubbie (Whispering): Sure RUBY: Why isn't Kevin involved in this? *Cubbie's expression changes, turning from a neutral expression to one of disappointment. * Cubbie (Whispering): He's not interested. RUBY: How can he "not be interested" in keeping our friends safe? Cubbie (Whispering): He says that Lana got killed despite not failing. He just thinks that we'll die even if we get good grades. *RUBY thinks about Skell. * *RUBY calls Robby's phone as she walks out of the school with Cubbie, making sure that Cubbie can hear the conversation as well. * Robby (Whispering): RUBY? RUBY (Over the Phone): Hi Robby. So, Cubbie and I were talking, and he suggested a great idea. Would you like to study with me and Cubbie? Robby (Over the Phone): And why would I do that? I have great grades. RUBY (Over the Phone): EXCEPT for your language grades. Robby (Over the Phone): *Sigh* Fine. When and where should we study? *RUBY looks at Cubbie, expecting some kind of answer. * Cubbie (Whispering): Maybe we could just visit his house. We could even study today. RUBY (Over the Phone): Your house, today. Robby (Over the Phone): No way. My parents can barely tolerate me being here. They're gonna be livid if you guys come over. RUBY (Over the Phone): My house instead? Robby (Over the Phone): Fine. send the location. *Robby hangs up. RUBY sends her home coordinates over to Robby. Cubbie smiles. * Cubbie (Whispering): Call Petunia and Lizzy next. RUBY: Sorry. I don't have their phone number. *She says Solemnly. * You'll talk to them in person. *Cubbie nods. But RUBY realizes something about something Cubbie said earlier. * RUBY: How come you didn't mention Riley? We all saw how she nearly failed that science assignment. Cubbie (Whispering): I didn't think you'd want to be around her. She's always arguing with you, and you always have to stop her from killing Robby. Plus, she might rat us out to Oliver/Katie if she thinks it'll make them like her more. RUBY: And what are we supposed to do? Let her fail? Cubbie (Whispering): Yes. If she dies, we'll all be safer. RUBY: I can't believe that you'd say that. I know she isn't the best person, but she doesn't deserve to die. I won't let her in on our plan, BUT, I'm making SURE that she's getting good grades. *Cubbie and RUBY walk towards RUBY's home. A weird garage. Upon opening the garage door, they both see a much more comfortable room. The walls are painted blue, and on them, are various rainbows of various shapes and sizes. The room's floor is covered in various machinery, and in the corner of the room, lies a machine with various claws and tools. * RUBY: I'll get study material ready. You can sit anywhere you want Cubbie. *RUBY uses books that she and Cubbie brought in to create notes within RUBY's system. In an hour, Robby arrives. * Robby: This isn't really a "home." RUBY: Don't insult my home? Robby: Alright. *Robby takes out his notebook and some of his graded papers and shows them to RUBY and Cubbie. With these, they're able to know what Robby's having problems with and what they should help him with. After three hours of studying * Robby: Thanks for the help, guys. *Robby and Cubbie walk out of Ruby's home. * RUBY: Robby. Can I talk about something? Robby: Sure RUBY: Do you think we could be around Riley more? Robby (Upset): She tried to stab me. RUBY: I know. It's just that, I talked to her earlier today when I was helping her with history class. She said that none of us care about her. RUBY: I can't understand the idea that we should just abandon her. Robby: Yes, you do. You say that like we're leaving her to die or something. All I want to do is not hang out next to a potential serial killer. RUBY: Alright, I get why. I just - I just can't. I don't know why, but the thought of just leaving her by herself. The thought of ... letting her or anyone else d*e just doesn't seem right to me. Robby: *Robby's tone of voice grows angrier. * It'd be right for everyone else. If you just left her alone, she would've failed and gotten killed by Bloomie. EVERYONE would've been better off. Everyone would've been safer. YOU ruined it because you THINK that it's the right thing to do, even when everyone else tells you otherwise. See you later RUBY. *He says in a sarcastic tone. * *Robby walks away, returning to his home. * *RUBY closes her garage door. It's frustrating, but he's right. It's not a good idea, but ... she can't do it. To her, lives have so much potential. And Riley could always change. But that's just an excuse she makes. She has something else to focus on. She'll think about it sleep mode. * *RUBY goes to her computer and opens a file containing schematics for herself. A list of required materials is produced. It'll take a while to complete this, but. * *Chip meets up with Zip, Edward, and Oliver/Katie, the latter having a bag. * Zip: Time to go Chip. Sorry I had to go, but my parent will get pissed if we're not home. Bye. *Zip picks up Chip, unfurls her wings, and flies to her home. * Katie/O: So .... Edward .... how come you don't have to leave. Edward: Eh. My parents don't care if I'm a little late. I can stay around you for a while. *Katie/O starts walking towards ∆lice's room as Edward starts walking along. * Katie/O: Hey. How come you've been so distant with us? Like, I know you didn't want to get in trouble for the door prank, but you weren't with us at the start of the day. Edward: I just had to study for science. It's actually pretty interesting. Oliver/K: You're a nerd, you know that right? You being interested in this stuff isn't necessary. We don't need A+s to get through the year. Edward: I know. It's just that... I enjoy this sort of thing. Learning about how the world works. Planets. Biology. It's just, something that interest me. Even more than pranks. And to be honest, I really want to go to college. Studying's gonna help me get there. It's not that I don't want to do pranks, but I just wanna ensure I have a good future. Oliver/K: Who's gonna replace you when your gone? Edward: Do you think you're still gonna be here after you graduate? Oliver/K: Yeah. Zip was even gonna stay as well. I could've gotten Miss Grace to let her stay like I have. *Oliver/K and Edward reach ∆lice's door. * Edward: Do you want to stay at school? Who's the nerd now? Ha ha. Oliver/K: *Smiles* You're not funny. If you're gonna be focusing on studying, you wanna pull one last prank? Edward: Nah, but you could pull one for me. Just gotta think. ... Oh! I got something. *Edward whispers into Oliver/Katie's ear. * Oliver/K: I can manage that. *Edward stays outside while Oliver/Katie enters ∆lice's room. * *∆lice stands there. Staring. It's unfortunate that her moment of quiet was interrupted but her lover being there makes up for it. * Oliver/K: Hello ∆lice. *Oliver/Katie is only a few feet away from ∆lice. * You wanna talk about anything? Haven't talked all day. *∆lice walks up to Olive/K. And hugs them. They hug back. ∆lice sits down on the floor. There's nothing to speak about. Being next to them is good enough. They sit on the floor and look into the darkness of the room. Silent. * Oliver/K: Hey, I brought you something. *Oliver/Katie opens the bag. It's a bunny and a pillow. ∆lice consume the mammal immediately (Although it doesn't taste as good as the original bunny due to this one being malnourished) but looks confused at the last object. * Oliver/K: You stay in an empty room all day. I thought I could at least bring in something to make you more comfortable, so I brought in this. *Oliver/Katie places the pillow on the floor. * Bye ... ∆lice. *Oliver/K exits, leaving ∆lice alone. She lays her head down on the pillow. *
