The corpse continent series book 1: The boy named Dragon

The Arcane gang a group of people with the power to heal any injury and command the elements of the world found themselves assisting two once separated now reunited races the Anansi descendants of the six arm titan and the Chiron descendants of the four legged titan in the restoration of their city that was once drowned now resurfaced thanks to the magic and skill of the two leaders of the Arcane gang Dragon and Hela. Who when asked how would they like to be rewarded they would say "The opportunity to see more of what this world has to offer is all the reward we need." Dragon a kind but fierce soul he would offer his aid in construction of several new roads and a special sea wall to stop the water when it comes time to replace the water runes him and his friends had made and placed to push back the water and chase it away from their city, he had the help of several Anansi and Chiron as well Aaron, Magnus, Jack, Eric and Tiamat and while working Magnus cursed Magnus: Fantastic. My tattoos are beginning to fade again Anansi worker: You know I've never asked why but why do your tattoos eventually fade? Dragon: Let me explain. our tattoos are made of a special ink, although that much you probably could've guessed, but due to the special nature of this ink it consumes a lot of energy and over time that energy runs out so our tattoos fade and disappear so we have to constantly reapply them At this same time Hela, Dragon other half, was crafting magic rune armor for the Anansi and Chiron with several of them and as well as Astrid, Angela, Maya, Leah and Bella and they were having the same conversation with the additional dialogue Astrid: Yeah our power is temporary but not for long since the first time I've met them Hela has working none stop to create an ink that will permanently last Hela: I've haven't succeeded yet Astrid: Emphasis on yet but you will I know it. Hela: I appreciate your faith Astrid Chiron child: I didn't understand the explanation you gave Astrid: Oh allow uhm you see I know how to make the first variation of the ink we uses let me show by putting it in a bowl and lighting it on fire you the fire represents our constant use of magic and as you here [Holds the bowl infront of them as the fire and the ink completely disappear] it doesn't burn forever but Hela here has been working at it for years and has come up with a few interesting variation some have manage to last for days some weeks and there's one that she made a couple years back and the flame hasn't gone out yet Hela: I want to be certain how long it will last before we begin but it does look promising hasn't gone yet but when it does I can estimate how the ink will last as our tattoos now can we get back on the task at hand please It was true Hela has been working on a longer lasting version of the magic ink her, Dragon and the others have been using and one variant has lasted longer than all others but before she gives it to the others she wishes to see how it last before disappearing the first version lasted about a few days after constant use and the current version they're using lasts about a few weeks of constant use a few months if used when necessary After a long hard days work both Dragon and Hela returned to their room and just before they jumped into bed Hela noticed that the bowl of burning ink that had been burning for two years six months had finally gone out and after some mental math Hela came to a conclusion that if they started using this ink variation it would last them just over five years and that's taking into account how often members of their group use magic on the day to day overjoyed Dragon picked up carried her to the bed and told her "We can tell the others tomorrow for lets have our own little celebration." Hela with a smile "I was hoping you would say that." The following morning the two of them shared the news with everyone else and they were thrilled at the sound of it and got to work burning out their current tattoos to make way for the newer longer lasting ink thanks to this motivation they began working double time finishing buildings and crafting rune armor way ahead of schedule which made the already grateful Anansi and Chiron even more so which they didn't believe was possible The Anansi/Chiron city restoration was complete much sooner than everyone expected thanks to the Arcane gang who were admiring their new tattoos complimenting on improving skill with tattoo art and the elders of both races approached them saying they couldn't thank them enough but they had something else to say but didn't know how to put it politely so Dragon told them "You've been polite for long enough no one here would get mad at you for something rude especially after all this time getting to know each other." And so they decided to tell directly "Please leave before you take all our jobs with your magic." To that they laughed and laughed and laughed and when they were done Hela told them "We'll leave tomorrow till then we are going to enjoy our last day here." After that agreement a party was thrown to say goodbye to the greatest miracles the Anansi and Chiron have been blesses with and during the party the gang was discussing what to do next A. continue past the sea or B. return home and invite other into their group and officially rebuild the Arcane clan. They chose option B and decided to retrace their steps and visit a few old sights on their way back home
