The corpse continent series book 1: The boy named Dragon

Dragon had personal tattooed several Valaheim healers with the same tattoo he gave himself and Hela and now that they had the power to heal any injury and king Orion held a goodbye dinner for the two of them and as they ate Orion raised and gave a toast saying "To the founders of magic may they do great things and bring honor and pride to their parents who raised them." They raised their glasses to that and after the dinner they stayed for one last night before heading to sleep Orion had one final conversation with Dragon "I know you created magic to better defend yourself and Hela against other beast like the wyvern." Orion started by saying "But as you grow older you'll see why the previous kings turned the armor giants once used to build this very castle into weapons of war to go against the other human kingdoms and I hope when the day comes you'll have the will to do want you must to protect what is important to you." Turns to Hela standing in the door way of Dragons room and when he left both Dragon and Hela crawled into bed and before they closed their eyes to sleep Hela asked him "Are you sure leaving is a good idea?" "Your afraid of what else will try to kill us, so am I but I know when worst comes to worst you'll be there and I'll be there for you always no matter what." Dragon said as he went to sleep The next morning both Hela and Dragon packed what's theirs the ingredients for future elixirs as well as clothes, tents, camping gear everything else they may need to survive the wilderness and as they disappeared into the distance Orion's wife and queen of Valaheim asked him "Are you sure you want to let two children go off into the wilds of the corpse continent by themselves?" After they went beyond his line of sight he turned to his wife and said "Even if we did try to keep them here they would've found to leave but letting will show them they can return here because I showed them they can trust us and that I trust them to take care themselves." When they reached the outskirts of Valaheim they said farewell to the personal guard that Orion ordered to escort them and after picking a direction they headed south curious to see how long it will take till they reach the kingdom of Rahara and after four days of walking they had reach the left foot of standing titan and chose to rest for the night and they set up their tent Dragon showed Hela his tattoos and she saw they were a little faded he had been playing with his fire and ice magic for days coming up with new ways to use them and from the look of his tattoos now it looked like their magic was temporary although that was just a theory but they needed to test it Dragon used his magic to perform big flashy magic tricks massive blast of fire and giant glaciers of ice but when he tried to do the same trick again it wasn't as powerful as the first time and when he tried a third time nothing happen and his tattoos he gave himself were completely gone and this confirmed it their magic only last for as long as their tattoos did so they needed to think of a way to fix that issue and when he wanted to ink himself again Hela stopped him saying "The fire elixir was made from the saliva and other bodily fluids taken from the wyvern which we have limited supply of, I want to make unlimited first then we restore our magic permanently, alright?" "Alright." Dragon responded Hela took every ingredient needed to make the fire elixir and struggled to think of a way to make it permanent and decided to think more like Dragon to see if she could come up with a solution while deep in thought she absent mindedly grew a tree by running her fingers through the ground and an idea came to her and combining the fire elixir and the plant elixir to create something new from it after a couple days she grew a tree that at the tip of each branch had sprouted a bright flame in place of leaves and stabbing into it she took it's sap and that became the new key ingredient for the fire elixir and before they set out to continue heading for Rahara Dragon re-inked himself to get his magic back and when they packed their camping gear Dragon was about to ask how was she going to recreate the ice elixir but stopped himself when he look at the flame tree she grew and realized she could just do that During their trek to the one of three human kingdoms Hela was writing potential formulas for a permanent magic granting tattoo ink and they spent sleepless nights trying to make it a reality and only got sleep when Dragon forced her by taking away her tools and notes and humming a lullaby her mother Hecate would sing to them to get them to sleep and for days this cycle repeated itself until after about ten days they finally reached the kingdom of Rahara where Dragons mother Dominique was born and where they will rest for a little while and discover that Dragon has more family than they expected
