The arena dissolved into swirling sand, and Flora found herself standing once more in the open desert. The Sentinel of the Suns towered before her, its molten‑gold eyes glowing with new intensity.
“You have faced your truth,” it said. “Few pass the Trial of Sand and Fire.”
Aestus stepped beside Flora, still catching his breath. “So… does that mean we can continue?”
The Sentinel extended a hand. Sand spiraled upward, forming a small orb of glowing amber. It hovered between them, pulsing with warm light.
“This is the Ember of Passage,” the Sentinel said. “It will guide you through the desert’s illusions and protect you from the shifting suns.”
Flora reached out. The orb drifted into her palm, warm and alive, like a heartbeat.
“Thank you,” she said.
The Sentinel inclined its head. “Beware, fire‑bearer. The path to Oblivion is not meant for mortals.”
Flora tightened her grip on the Ember. “We’re not turning back.”
The Sentinel’s form crumbled into sand, carried away by the wind.
Aestus exhaled. “Well. That was terrifying.”
Flora smirked. “You’re getting used to it.”
“Unfortunately,” he muttered.
The dragon landed beside them, wings stirring the dunes.
Flora climbed onto its back, the Ember glowing in her hand.
“Let’s finish this,” she said.
And they soared toward the horizon.
