Alastor makes fun of the Lord of Hell
December 2, 2025 at 7:54 AM
Morning came, and the alarm clock began to ring mercilessly, jumping up and down like a demon. Lucifer opened one eye and lazily turned off the soulless creature of hell, sinking back into sleep. There was no way to fall back asleep, and there was no point in getting up. The King of Hell decided to open both eyes. The hotel room was much more spacious than his own, thanks to the absence of the mountains of rubber ducks he sometimes made. It had been about two weeks since he arrived at the hotel, but he was not getting better.
I don't even know if I'm asleep or not. Everything is blurry, like in a fog. How much time has passed since I opened my eyes? Maybe half an hour, but it could be more. Should I get up and start doing something again? Is it worth it, does it make sense? I don't know. I'm tired of lying down, and I don't know what to do...
Lucifer decides to attempt to slide out of bed, however, just as he begins to make his bed, he sprawls out again, his nose buried in the pillow. Someone quietly approached the bed and sat down.
— Oh, it seems that the great lord of hell is in the final stage of depression, what a pity! It would be better to give the throne to me, I'm sure I can handle it better than you!
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Lucifer raised his head and angrily threw a pillow at the insolent demon's face.
— I would put you in a cauldron right now and incinerate you to ashes, but I'm not in the mood!
Alastor looked at the king with a sly expression, seeing that he was in a depressed state, although he had softened a little.
— You clearly need to rest after a long sleep, you didn't leave your room yesterday! We could use the king's help with the hotel.
He handed the king the pillow that the king had kindly thrown at him. Lucifer began to make the bed.
— I'll ask you to leave my room while I change my clothes.
The demon waited for Lucifer outside the door. It was a long wait, which he didn't like, but he eventually saw the Lucifer emerge from his room dressed in his royal attire. Lucifer looked regal and majestic, but his dark circles under his eyes and slightly disheveled hair gave him away.
Lucifer was very upset about his separation from his wife, his falling out with his daughter, and the eternal feud between heaven and hell, but from time to time his emotions would dull and he would feel absolutely nothing. It was during these moments that he would lock himself in his room for several days.
— I can see that you're not feeling well, you can tell me everything!
Alastor awkwardly lowered his gaze, but his snide grin remained motionless. Time passed slowly, and no one dared to be the first to move or ask anything. Lucifer saw Alastor as a frighteningly mysterious person, and Alastor, in turn, saw Lucifer as a master whose powers were clearly greater than his own. They weren't really enemies anymore, and the initial disagreement was just a minor squabble, nothing more. They'd been living in adjacent rooms for two or three weeks now...
Radio Demon was the first to break the silence
— I suggest we go for a walk around the local streets, we have a very interesting area... Do you agree with me?
— I fully share your opinion.
...
— You've probably even forgotten how the street feels! There are pleasant smells of buns, sounds of gunfire and blood everywhere!
Alastor surveyed his surroundings with genuine admiration. He liked to watch sinners do mayhem and watch the king's reaction.
— Your Majesty, how do you like your possessions?
Lucifer looked around in disgust. He clearly didn't like the sight of hell.
— I don't spend my days working on paperwork and helping the demons just to look at this dump... Wait a minute, I just hired builders to build a bar in this spot! They reported to me that everything was already built, but where did the sign go!?
A few demon children ran away with the bar's sign in their hands, but Lucifer didn't see them, and he and Alastor continued walking.
— You don't look well, Lucifer, is there anything bothering you?
The radio demon looked down at the ruler of hell, and his smile changed from a sly one to a less sly one.
— I assure you, I'm fine... I'm perfectly fine, I'm just not used to the hotel and hell in general, I usually stay in my castle.
— I can see that you still miss your wife. To be honest, I think she's lost interest in you, otherwise she would have found a way to contact you! If I had the opportunity, I would contact myself...
Lucifer adjusted his hat and looked at Alastor with interest.
— Do you have a girlfriend, a wife, or a daughter on Earth?
— No, I've never had a girlfriend in my life, and I wasn't interested in relationships. My only family member was my mother, and she was the only person I would never kill in this ruthless world.
Alastor seemed to be lost in thought, as if remembering her image.
— She raised me alone, and I am deeply grateful to her. She loved me, even though I wasn't the most obedient child. She was a great cook and told me interesting bedtime stories. Unfortunately, I will never see her again; she has gone to heaven.
How touching... — Lucifer wiped a tear from his eye and adjusted his hat. — My story is very similar to yours, Lilith, my wife, and I were very close for a while. But when Charlie was born... She distanced herself and shielded her daughter from me because she was afraid that she would become the same as me, a stupid dreamer who believes immensely in goodness and peace in the whole world! And she still became like her father. Forgive me, Lilith... Lucifer looked up at the sky, as if searching for his wife. "Perhaps our feelings for each other have already faded, but I will not forget the good times we had together..."
— You know, we have a lot in common!
Alastor smiled for the first time in a long while. He was no longer looking at Lucifer as a formidable king, but as a living demon
