Before the Ceremony

Trevor’s Zora armor looked brand new again. Several maidens worked on, fixing the dents and wiping away the marks it garnered over the past few days. Commander Claudius urged Trevor to keep it.
“You’re worthy of it,” Cladius declared. “The world should know all the good deeds you’ve done to save us.”
Trevor reluctantly agreed. He didn’t want to cause friction with a man he came to respect.
He grew used to the armor anyway. It was just like his powers–a part of him, piece of his identity that he could be proud of.
Trevor also accepted a navy blue sash laced with gold threading from the Zora maidens that fixed the armor. The women draped it over his torso diagonally, tying both ends together in a knot fastened above his right hip.
The rest of the group also donned new clothes. Jerome’s outfit was replaced by a teal toga. Sheila wore a robe-like top with matching pants and comfortable shoes.
Link was the only one who kept his Kokiri outfit. He had to stop the maidens from dipping his evergreen garb into blue dye.
They settled for crowning him with small conches connected by a threat of coral wire. He had to take off his cap to make room for it.
“Do we have to make a ceremony out of this?” Trevor whispered to Link.
Link scratched his neck, looking equally uncomfortable. “They want to thank us. It’s nice to let them do it.”
“I guess.” Trevor toyed with his sash, adjusting it so it didn’t cling so tightly to his body. “Do they want me to breathe, or what?”
“I think you look nice,” Rebecca said, who also kept her outfit intact. She tied her hair back up into the style she had before leaving the desert.
“Thanks,” Trevor mumbled. “But I just want to go home now. Don’t the rest of you guys?”
The children from Oak Shire nodded their heads. It seemed unreal–they were about to finally go back. Their personal battle was over. Trevor felt the need to rush out of Zora’s Domain, head to Hyrule Castletown, and take the first magical portal home.
“We have a boat we’ll get on after the ceremony’s done,” said Navi. “You can guide us all the way to Hyrule Castletown with your powers.”
“Gladly,” Trevor said. “We have to get Zelda the stones so we can stop Ganondorf.”
“He’s long gone,” said Rebecca. “He won’t get in the way of anything.”
Trevor grinned. “We’reallglad you did something.”
“A-hem.”
Ruto’s reddened face was evident from a distance. Trevor also saw her smile, a surprisingly sheepish expression. The Zora princess stood adorned in a blue dress that perfectly matched the complexion of Trevor’s sash. A crystal tiara on her head completed her look. Ruto curtsied, keeping her eyes on Trevor, whose face suddenly heated up. He didn’t really know why.
“I...I…” Ruto glanced back and forth, as if what she said had to be kept secret. “Trevor, I...cannot wait to see you soon. That is all.”
Trevor raised an eyebrow. “...OK…? I...guess we’ll see you in a few.”
“See you in a few…” Ruto giggled. “You’re such a funny man! Brave and humorous, the mark of a true gentleman. Have you ever heard that before?”
“Nope.”
“Well, I’m sure you’ll teach me all your wisdom in the future. See you soon, love!” Ruto left, surrounded by Zora guards.
