At Sea
We’ve gone on a handful of cruises, some launching from the southeast and some from the west. Some were huge ships with nearly 5,000 passengers, but the best ones were smaller ships with around 1,200. You got better service that way, and it was a little less chaotic.
One time in particular, we went cruising from Florida to Mexico, and it was so gorgeous! I felt so calm, carefree, and happy. It was exciting and relaxing at the same time. We were still young, healthy, and had lots to look forward to in life.
Sometimes we’d do things as a group, sometimes as a couple, and other times we would scatter about the ship independently to do our own thing. There was so much to enjoy on the ship too, from gourmet food to room service to relaxing on our private veranda to swimming to going to the spa to gambling to shopping, and of course, the land excursions. These often included some type of ocean adventure, be it scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, or whatever. And what was a trip without raiding the gift shops?
We had a bit of a scare one time when it was time to head back to the ship, and we realized that Jamie wasn’t with us. At first, we were curious and then grew a little concerned. But luckily, before it could escalate into a full-blown panic, she emerged from one of the public restrooms.
After scolding her for taking off without letting anyone know where she was going, we caught a cab back to the ship and settled in for one last evening of fun at sea.
The staterooms were small but cozy. The staff was a little pesky, though. How many times a day (and evening) did they think we needed fresh towels? Regardless, we had a blast, and I slept great, snuggled up in our little room.
I would usually do something relaxing before I actually slept, such as reading or maybe even a little writing. I wanted to detail and remember our vacations with words besides pictures.
