In the Air
Flying to vacation spots could be just as fun and relaxing as riding in a car. As I said before, we usually flew, and we usually went to other countries.
Our last trip was to Costa Rica. Blessed with money, we normally flew first class. It was not only more convenient and comfortable, but that way we never had to sit with strangers as one of us would have to if we flew coach. We were usually able to get back-to-back seats or directly across from each other.
I loved gazing at the world below during the daytime until it became so small and then eventually morphed into nothing but clouds or sea. At night, I would relax with music or reading if I didn’t watch a movie on one of the handheld devices that were included in first class and that those flying coach had to pay for. Definitely a fine time for snacking, too.
Usually, once our plane landed at our destination, I just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep, but that would often be easier said than done due to the excitement and anticipation of the days ahead that would have us pretty wound up. We were usually only tired the first day, so we didn’t do as much as we would for the rest of the days, which usually amounted to anywhere from one to two weeks.
As much as we absolutely loved traveling, we would love returning home just as much because there really was no place like home. There was nothing like your own comfortable bed and having instant access to all your belongings and the comforts of home. Not only that, but if we were exhausted from the trip back home, we could easily crash soon after getting in and catch up on sleep faster than when we arrived wherever we were vacationing.
Jamie and I would accompany either Michelle or Angela on business trips more than we vacationed for fun, so it was like having a bunch of little mini-vacations mixed in. We rarely went for more than a couple of months without going anywhere, and it was great for the most part, although some of the business trips did get boring. Jamie and I were there so we wouldn’t have to be at the house alone and not to have a good time, after all. The department had us fly coach, but we were usually able to fly alone if it was just Michelle and me. I liked it better when Jamie accompanied us, though, because then we were guaranteed not to have to sit with anyone we didn’t know, and she would keep me company when Michelle was out of the hotel room or wherever we were staying. She only came with us, however, if it was at a time when Angela had to go somewhere and couldn’t take anyone with her.
