All we know about Sakura so far is that he’s an orphan and has been adopted several times, only to be returned to the orphanage again. A few chapters ago, I mentioned that he has current adoptive parents who sent him to live alone in Makochi, and that they probably send him money for living expenses. Well, that theory has been confirmed! In one chat, I often read that Momijikawa is the same boy from Sakura’s flashback in the chapter about the boys' visit to Kiryu’s house, and I even shared this theory. Forget that theory forever; I recently reread the chapter about the beach and noticed that during the short flashback, Sakura was reminiscing about how he used to spend his summer vacations. The poor boy was just wandering around town, spending time in that very barn where his adoptive parents sent him to live. In those frames, it’s clear that Sakura was about fourteen years old at the time. This means those disgusting people are still his guardians, with whom, fortunately, he doesn’t live. I also assume that the idea of ​​sending him alone to Makochi was Sakura’s own initiative. I really don’t want to discuss this family any further, as they really irritate and anger me for the way they treated Sakura. They let him live in some barn, got angry about his appearance, criticized his behavior, and often got into fights with someone. (Although, 100%, those kids, just like when Kaji was being bullied by others, were asking for a fight themselves. But unlike Kaji, who had his mother, Hiiragi, Matsumoto, and Yanagida to support him during those times, Sakura had no one to come to her aid, support her, or say he was innocent.) Seriously, why adopt a child if you end up not treating them well and sending them to live in a barn? Unfortunately, I have to talk about them. In that chat, the idea that these people were his biological parents, our kitten’s biological parents, was also often floated around, which, in my opinion, is highly dubious. Just recently, I was certain they were his adoptive parents, but thanks to that chat where those very same ideas floated around, we never considered the possibility that any of them might be blood relatives of his parents. Now, it occurs to me that this man could very likely be related to Sakura on one of her parents' sides, say, his father’s or mother’s older brother. That’s where the attitude came from—he didn’t get along with or even like his younger brother, and then suddenly he finds his brother or sister’s child. What do you think such a person would do? Of course, as in some stories, he wouldn’t allow a child he didn’t need to live under the same roof with him… Now, moving on to the topic that started this chapter. It seems to me that another potential blood relative of Sakura’s is Umemiya. This thought occurred to me about six months ago. When I first became familiar with this anime, I thought it was strange that we were constantly being given moments with Umemiya and Sakura, but I chalked it up to Haruka’s future development, which would lead to his role as the leader of the Fuurin after Ume. Then, in anticipation of Season 2, I decided to read the manga, and after stumbling across Ume’s backstory, his fight with Takishi, and more scenes with Umemiya and Sakura, I wondered if they might actually be brothers. As a reminder, Umemiya’s mother was fair-haired, or rather, white-haired, while Sakura’s hair is half white. What I’m getting at is that after his parents died, Ume was sent from one orphanage to another until he ended up at his own orphanage. According to the orphanage’s caregiver, he had no living relatives on either his mother’s or father’s side. Let’s assume my theory about Ume and Sakura possibly being related is true. Sakura’s father was Umemiya’s mother’s brother. He also had white hair, but let’s say Ume’s parents' relationship led her mother’s family to disown her and cut off their loving relationship. Her brother (Sakura’s father) couldn’t resist their parents' orders and also lost contact with his sister. Then, their parents died, he met a girl, fell in love, and married her. Sakura was born, as I mentioned a few chapters ago, inheriting his unique appearance as a mixture of both parents. Then, his life with his wife ended. Another possibility is that the brother and sister didn’t break ties, but they didn’t communicate or see each other often, and then they died, leaving their children alone. Well… that’s just my theory, I could be completely wrong. Let’s not dwell on that; I’ve finally spoken my mind.
