Gene extended his hand, offering help. Aisha, hesitating only for a moment, accepted it. Her heart beat faster from his touch, but it was not only in sympathy, but in strange foreboding. When she got back on her feet, she felt a weakness, but tried to hide it.
With her lips closed, she whispered quietly
-Thank you for your help. - She was uncomfortable, but at the same time, oddly comfortable.
Gina smiled back, and that smile seemed predatory to Aisha.
-Baby, check it,- said Gina turning to the younger.
Baby, with an innocent look, came closer.
-Check? - he repeated, as if not understanding what they want from him.
-Exactly. Feel the energy, know the intention - explained Gina.
Aisha got cold. Check the energy? What do they really mean? She couldn’t let them feel her darkness, her past. She knew it was getting harder to hide her demonic essence.
Before she could say anything, Baby grabbed her hands. His touch was deceptively easy, almost tender, but Aisha felt something strange, sticky and creepy enter her mind.
The memories began to flash before her eyes, like in a kaleidoscope. Old scenes were replaced by new ones, as if someone was turning over the pages of her life. Everything she hid, everything she tried to forget, was now in the public eye.
Aysha pulled out her hand in horror.
-Stop! she shouted, backing away from that innocent face hiding the darkness. -Don’t you dare!
Bayebie staggered, but there was no regret or guilt in his eyes. Only a cold, evaluating look.
-Strange, he said as if thinking aloud. I don’t feel the pure darkness. There is pain, fear... but something else.
-What happened? What did you see? asked Gina, walking towards Aicha.
Aisha felt cornered. She knew she couldn’t pretend anymore.
-Don’t you dare dig into my memories! - she said, looking Gina in the eye. -You have no right to do that!
Gina chuckled, revealing her sharp fangs.
-What if we do, Aisha? What if we know more about you than you think?
He made a step closer, and Aisha felt a wave of energy emanating from him, dark and tempting.
-What are you hiding, demon on the run? And why are you so afraid we’re gonna find out the truth? - whispered Gina, leaning to her face.
In his voice there was an ominous taunt, and the eyes were burning with unhealthy fire. Aysha felt the cold running down her back. She knew that Gina was playing with her like a cat with a mouse.
- I am not a runaway demon, Aisha spit back. I am free. I am free from your Gi-noi, from his power and from his madness.
She stepped back, breaking the eye contact. Fear and despair overwhelmed her, but she tried to hold her face. She had to run as far away as possible from these demons, their lies and manipulations.
- Don’t you dare follow me anymore! she shouted, then turned and ran away.
Aysha ran, not breaking the road. Her heart was beating furiously in her chest, and chaos reigned in her head. She felt their looks burning her back, but she didn’t stop. She knew they were stronger than her, that she didn’t have break free.
Baby was already going after her, but Gina stopped him by grabbing his shoulder.
- Wait, he said, watching as Aisha disappears into the dark. - We’ll get to her in time. Let her run a bit. That will be even more interesting.
Gene chuckled, licking sharp fangs. He knew that Aisha would not go anywhere. She got caught in their net, and sooner or later they will have to face her. The only question is when and under what circumstances it will happen. And Gina, as a true demon, was looking forward to this meeting with undisguised pleasure.
Soon, Aisha was nothing but a memory slipping away in the night-city labyrinths. Gina and Baby have returned to their luxurious mansion, towering over the city like a grim monument to their demonic a monument to their demonic nature.
The mansion was full of other demons, as powerful and dangerous as they were. They gathered in a spacious hall, lit only by the dim light of candlesticks, creating an atmosphere of mystery and danger.
Gina, without wasting time, addressed the group:
- We found her, he said, his voice was full of satisfaction. A runaway demon running from Gi-noi.
There was a silence in the room, broken only by a quiet crack of flame in the fireplace. All eyes were on Gina and Baby.
- And then what? - asked Romances, one of Gina’s close associates, a demon with pink hair and an arrogant look. - What are we going to do with her?
- Get her back, Gi-me," said Jin, his voice sounded like a sentence. "It’s our duty.
- But she’s resisting,' added Baby, looking down. 'And something about her... isn’t quite what I expected to see.
Ebs, a powerful-build kick demon, snorted. - The demon is a demon. They’re all the same. You just have to grab it and deliver it to Guy.
- It’s not that easy, said Gina. She’s strong and she knows how to hide. We’ll have to use cunning to catch her.
The Misters, a demon with a closed face, silent until this moment, finally gave his voice. His voice was low and husky, as if it came from the bottom of the underworld.
- Why is Kim the runaway girl? he asked. What’s so special about her?
Gina chuckled.
- It’s none of our business. We’ve been ordered to take her back, and we’ll carry out the order. Don’t ask too many questions, Misters.
There was silence in the room again. Every demon knew that it was useless to argue with Gina. If he decided something, he would no longer be persuaded.
But deep down they have doubts. What is Gina hiding? Why does he want to bring back this runaway Kim? And what will happen to Ayesha when she is in his hands?
None of those present knew that the answers to these questions would change their lives forever and plunge them into a maelstrom of intrigue, betrayal and mortal danger. The hunt for Aisha has just begun.
