Prologue

Settings
Somewhere in the distant corners of space, a dark force appeared and destroyed one planet. After that, an explosion occurs and the planet disappears along with the dark force. At the last moment, a star appears from the dead planet, blinking and slowly flying in space, having left its home planet. The star leaves its galaxy and ends up in another, heading somewhere to the center of the galaxy.

Meanwhile

Wander, riding on Sylvia, runs inside along the surface of an uninhabited brown planet and dodges the red lasers of the skull ship, which was flying in pursuit and shooting. The screams of a rough and scary voice are heard in the loudspeaker: β€” COME BACK HERE, ORANGE MONKEY!!! β€” Try to catch up, Heiti! β€” the weirdo teased the skeleton with a grin. β€” Wander, now is not the time to tease Hater. We need to run away now. β€” Zbornak answers a little sternly and continues to run. β€” STOP STILL!!! I CAN'T HIT YOU!!! β€” Hater screams. β€” Syl, let's stop. β€” Wander suggested. β€” But no way. β€” Sylvia answers. β€” Better get some orb juice out of your hat so we can fly away from here. β€” Okay, as you say. β€” The weirdo didn't argue, took a jar out of his hat and formed a kind of huge soap bubble around himself. They began to fly inside the bubble and continued to fly through space, also dodging the lasers of the skull ship. β€” SIR, ENOUGH ALREADY!!! β€” Peepers' voice is heard. β€” SHUT UP, PEEPERS!!! THESE BASTARDS HAVE FORCED ME TO DO IT AS ALWAYS!!! I WON'T REST UNTIL I GET REVENGE ON THEM!!! I WANT TO DESTROY THEM BOTH!!! β€” the skeleton screams. The skull ship flies further in pursuit and shoots. They flew into the asteroid belt and got lost. More precisely, Wander and Sylvia hid in the asteroid belt, and the skull ship lost them. Having left the asteroid belt, they ran into some star that was flying towards them. β€” Oh! Peepers, look! A star! β€” the skeleton points his finger at the light, which was becoming brighter and closer to them. The pupils of all the patrols and the commander became small from fear and brightness. β€” TURN!!! β€” Peepers screamed, grabbed the steering wheel and tried to turn the skull ship to the side. β€” WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!! β€” LOOKING AT ME, GIVE ME THE WHEEL!!! β€” the skeleton screams and refuses to let the commander turn. A bright light approached the skull ship and crashed into it. Luckily, the skull ship was not damaged. There was a sound of metal hitting metal and the bright light flew off the path upon impact, after which it flew along the golden section to the nearest uninhabited yellow planet. Hater and Peepers' eyes widened, not expecting that they remained safe and sound. They did not expect that they would survive and that the bright star that was flying towards them suddenly flew off upon impact and crashed into the nearest planet. β€” What was that? β€” the skeleton asks the commander. β€” I don't know, sir, but let's get out of here before some other crap comes here. β€” suggested Peepers. β€” Yes, you're right. Let's fly away from here! β€” agreed the skeleton, handing the steering wheel to the commander, and he himself walked away and sighed heavily. β€” It's just a pity that we lost this nasty Wander. I so wanted and hoped that I would finally destroy him. β€” he added, hitting his left fist on his right palm. β€” Don't be upset! Someday we will finally catch him and destroy him. I promise you. β€” calmly assured Peepers, and then frowned and whispered to himself: β€” Someday you will drive me to the point that I will expel you from the post of lord. β€” I hear everything, Peepers! β€” the skeleton answered the commander sternly and left, leaving him alone. Peepers' eyes bulged, frightened by the lord, not expecting him to hear him. Wander and Sylvia, hiding behind one huge asteroid, saw how that bright star crashed into the skull ship and, upon collision with it, flew to the yellow planet and fell there, after which it began to slowly blink and go out. β€” Oh, no! What if there is someone inside. We need to help them. β€” says Wander and, taking hold of the ropes, slaps them like a cowboy riding a horse. β€” Forward, Sil. Let's see what's there! β€” Okay, okay. But let's not flatter Hater this time? β€” said Sylvia. β€” Okay. As you say. β€” Wander answered, hiding his right hand behind his back and making a cross with his fingers. Sylvia frowned, suspicious of his hand. β€” Are you hiding pollen behind your back in a cross? β€” she asked him, and the weirdo just smiled stupidly and lied, silently shaking his head. Sylvia lightly grabbed his hand with her tail and moved it from Wander's back to see his hand. Luckily, Wander managed to separate his fingers, starting to imitate scissors. β€” Chick-chick! β€” smiling stupidly. He imitated the sound of scissors and moved his fingers like scissors. However, Sylvia still looked at her friend with distrust and frowning. Wander felt awkward, his teeth began to tremble and he could not help but almost cry: β€” Okay, okay, I give you my word of honor that we will not fly to Hater anymore. As you can see, I am not lying here at all and I give you my word of honor. β€” said Wander, showing both palms to prove that he was not lying now. β€” Watch me! You gave me your word of honor! Never break it! β€” said Zbornak sternly, pointing her finger at her friend and went inside the soap bubble to the planet where the light, similar to a star, crashed. They landed on the planet, the bubble burst and the humanoids walked to the place where the light went out. They came out to the crash site and saw a small spaceship that had crashed. Wander became interested in what he saw and at the same time ran to the ship, because he was a little worried about those who were inside. Sylvia ran after him and tried to dissuade him: β€” Stop, Wander, wait! Don't rush! You can't just run to some unfamiliar spaceship! β€” Why not? β€” Wander asks. β€” What if someone is stuck inside or dying while we are arguing here. β€” There is no point in arguing with you. β€” Sylvia rolled her eyes and ran next to him. β€” HEY, MISTER!!! β€” the weirdo shouts and runs up to the spaceship, starting to bang his fists on the glass of the small ship. β€” MISTER OR MRS, WHOEVER YOU ARE INSIDE??? ARE YOU ALIVE THERE, HUH??? Suddenly, the ship began to slowly open the hatch with glass and from inside, a baby appeared from the dust and smoke, coughing and trying to catch his breath, because it was hard for him to breathe. Inside this spaceship, in a very small chair, sat a baby that looked like a hedgehog. And it was a small brown hedgehog. She still had small hair and needles on her head, and she was also wearing blue pajamas. There was a gold medallion on her neck. Wander and Sylvia made cute faces at what they saw, smiled and simultaneously gasped with affection. They did not expect to see a child in this spaceship. β€” It's a child! β€” says the ginger one and takes the baby in his arms to examine her. β€” Uh... Better not touch her! β€” says the zbornak a little cautiously, stretching his palms forward. β€” You never know! What if she's infected with something and you get sick from her. β€” No, Syl, look! She's so cute and funny. β€” Wander answered and examined the child. He noticed her gold medallion on her neck, seeing the emblem of her people, apparently. Turning the medallion over, he saw the inscription "Varanda" on the back of the medallion, which he read out loud: β€” Varanda?... That must be her name. β€” the weirdo suggested and hugged the baby. β€” Varandochka! β€” the hedgehog didn't understand anything, but she was pleased that this red-haired humanoid was hugging her. She smiled, closed her eyes, reached for his head with her hands and hugged him back. Afterwards, the red-haired boy examined the ship. β€” This must not be a spaceship, but a rescue capsule. I wonder where her parents are? β€” I don't know. β€” Sylvia raised her shoulders. β€” This is the first time I've seen this emblem on her medallion. Maybe her planet with her people, and accordingly her parents, died, since she flew here on a rescue capsule? β€” Really? β€” Wander's eyes widened from what he heard and he looked at the baby with surprised horror. β€” So she was left all alone?... And she's... An orphan? β€” Varanda suddenly became sad and it seemed that she was about to cry. However, the weirdo hugged her again, which made the child hug the humanoid back again. β€” Well, it's okay! You're lucky that we found you... Otherwise, you would have probably remained here all alone and died. Since you don't have parents anymore, then we will be your mom and dad. β€” WHAT??? β€” the zbornak was indignant from what she heard and widened her eyes. β€” No way! β€” Syl! β€” the weirdo looked at his friend questioningly and a little indignantly. β€” No, Wander! β€” she said sternly and looked angrily at Wander. β€” Remember what happened to us on that planet with the high mountain, where we found a big egg that looked like a stone and how we almost fought over it with you! Plus, you remember that a baby monster hatched from the egg and wanted to eat you? Yes, of course, it didn't eat us, but it could have, because you didn't listen to me then. And I told you then that all this mushi-pusi is not for me, but all because you wanted to return this egg to this monster, and I was against it from the very beginning. Wander looked sternly at Sylvia and asked: β€” Sylvia!... Aren't you ashamed? β€” Me? Ashamed? β€” the zbornak was indignant. β€” Don't provoke me to another fight and quarrel! The weirdo put the baby back in the chair in the escape pod and looked sternly into Sylvia's eyes, starting to scold her: β€” You just don't know how to handle children, and besides, you're acting like a bore. Just like you did with the egg back then, you're still acting like one now. Sylvia's eyes widened from what she heard and saw, because her friend usually doesn't act like that. He's usually calm and tries to resolve everything kindly, but here he suddenly became stern and serious to tell her all this. β€” But... Wander, I'm not a bore at all. I just... β€” at first she wanted to explain calmly, and then she started to be rude. β€” I wanted to have a normal fight with the monsters back then, and you, as always, have to act like a saint and always help everyone who comes along. Even flattery to the Evil One when he doesn't want it. Besides, no matter how many times I tell you that you can't, you still go after him. β€” Really? β€” Wander was indignant and started shouting: β€” LOOK AT YOURSELF, WOMAN!!! I WANTED TO DO GOOD FOR THE WHOLE UNIVERSE AND MAKE IT PERFECT, SO THAT NO ONE WOULD SUFFER, AND YOU ONLY WANTED TO FIGHT AND HURT SOMEONE!!! β€” IF THIS INVOLVES YOU SO MUCH IN ME, THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL FRIENDS WITH ME AND NOT LEAVING ME??? β€” Sylvia shouted back, and then Wander started shouting: β€” BECAUSE YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND, SYLVIA!!! AND THIS IS THE DUTY OF TRUE FRIENDSHIP, TO BE ABLE TO FORGIVE ALL OF YOUR FRIEND'S OFFENSE, EVEN IF SOMETHING HE ANNOYS YOU, BUT YOU STUPIDLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS, SHE-FOOL!!! From the screams she heard, Varanda began to scream and cry loudly. Wander and Sylvia were distracted from the screams and looked questioningly at the child. The weirdo ran up to the girl, picked her up in his arms, began to rock her and whispered tenderly: β€” Well, well, well, well, quieter, quieter, what you, what you, what you, baby? Did we scare you? I'm sorry! We didn't mean to scare you like that! We were emotional. We'll just yell at each other and that's it. No one wanted to hurt or scare you, I swear. Everything is fine, everything is fine, please don't cry! β€” After his words and rocking in his arms, the baby stopped crying, calmed down a little and prepared to fall asleep. Then he looked sternly at Sylvia. β€” See what you've done? β€” Ha-ha! Did I do it? β€” Sylvia asked sarcastically and with a grin, putting her hands on her waist. β€” You were the first to start yelling at me. β€” I didn't do it on purpose. You provoked me. β€” the weirdo explained. β€” Well, if that's the case, then goodbye! β€” Zbornak waved her right hand and turned around, getting ready to leave. β€” Since you don't need me, because I am what you say? "A bore." I won't bother you. If you want to keep this child for yourself, go ahead! But I won't help you, because I'm not a nanny. I'm out! β€” Come back, feminist! Our conversation is not over. β€” Wander answered sternly and put the child in the escape capsule. Then he ran after her. β€” Don't waste your words! β€” Sylvia answers with a grin, waving goodbye and walking further away. However, Wander stood in her way. β€” Syl, stop! β€” he stopped in front of her, holding out his left palm. Zbornak had no choice but to roll his eyes, stop and fold his arms over his chest. β€” Sil, I know that you are trying to protect me from danger and you do all this for a reason. But you also need to understand why I do all this, that sometimes irritates you. Maybe things didn't work out with that monster's child back then, but this baby is not a monster. This is an ordinary child who has never harmed me, no matter how many times and for how long I held her. Can't you see that there is no need to be afraid of her? She will not harm us in any way. And look at it from the other side! When she grows up, there will be three of us. She will be our daughter, who will look up to us. She will take every part of us while we raise her. It will be a golden mean, because she will grow up as kind, caring and merciful as me, and also feisty, strict, serious and... Sylvia's eyes widened and, imagining what she saw, she finished, smiling: β€” Strong, like me. β€” Then she looked at her friend, who even dilated his pupils, begging her not to leave him alone with the child. Zbornak rolled her eyes, smiling, and put her hand on his shoulder. β€” Ah... What should I do with you, Wander? β€” she asked rhetorically and hugged him. Wander hugs Sylvia back and then they return to the escape pod. She takes the child in her arms and looks at her. β€” We promise you, Varanda. We will take care of you. Wander was riding Sylvia again, and she was holding the baby in her arms. Wander took the can of orb juice out of his hat again and formed an orb bubble around them, and then they flew into the sky, flying away to the setting red star.

Sixteen years later

The young brown hedgehog grew up under the care of the red dwarf in the green hat and became quite an adult. During all these years, while she was growing up, Wander and Sylvia had kept their promises. They raised her and took care of her. In addition, even Wander kept his promise. Because he and Sylvia took care of Varanda like a father and mother about a daughter, he temporarily forgot about Hater and did not bother him anymore. Even Lord Hater himself temporarily forgot about Wander as the years went by. Hater was no longer hindered in capturing planets and he calmly finished his work, becoming more serious about his business. Wander and Sylvia, fortunately, moved from planet to planet, where Hater had not yet managed to enslave anyone. Wander, as promised, taught Varanda to be kind, merciful and help everyone in need and even those who did not need her help. Sylvia taught Varanda martial arts and self-defense so that the girl could stand up for herself if she suddenly got into trouble. While the girl was growing up, she herself forgot who she was, who her real parents were and what planet she came from. She became a wanderer, like her adoptive parents Wander and Sylvia. Now the three of them, both together and separately from each other, traveled from planet to planet and helped many different humanoids who got into trouble. However, Varanda's adventures do not end there. They are just beginning, right here and now.
