Chapter 3: Hard Target

"Kha-kha, ugh, this gas sucks," Loona said as she struggled to open her red-veined eyes and spat out the saliva that had accumulated in her mouth (which now tasted exactly like an expired urine test) when, after a couple of hours, the gas began to let up and she regained consciousness. "Head hurt, my mouth feels like cats fucked, and worst of all, I fell into the same trap as Blitz. Holy shit, how he's going to gloat." "Oh, I see you finally woke up," Roxy said in her head at that moment. "Wow, you're pretty beat up." "What about you?" Asked the hellhound faintly, feeling the nausea rising in her mouth. "You and I were knocked out together." "Nah, just you. I was sitting in total darkness listening to your incoherent mumblings. By the way, you're such a naughty girl. The Dutch rudder and the greased chili anus alone were worth it." "Shit," Loona said grudgingly. "Yeah. Anyway, I was sitting there, waiting for you to wake up," continued the she-wolf. "And Vanessa was dragging us somewhere. And since it was nearly impossible to control your body, I had no choice but to listen in silence as they put you and me in a chair and tied us up with ropes. Holy shit, that was so creepy. It was like that time I got burned and had my eyes ripped out in the pizza place. I couldn't see anything then either and had to navigate by smell and hearing. Or rather, only by hearing. Because there was a disgusting smell of pizza everywhere." "Don't fucking tell me about the food!" Loona cursed, and immediately vomited right under her feet. "Ugh, that's disgusting," the she-wolf mentally grimaced. "I sincerely hope my new body can't do that." "Kha, shut up. I feel bad enough as it is. Let's look around and see where we are," Loona said, finally finishing puking, and then she tried to move, but quickly realized that her hands were tied behind her back, and her feet were bound with thick ropes. On top of that, they were in a cramped metal tank that looked very much like an old industrial garbage incinerator. "Well, well, you and I are locked in the furnace. Well, that's to be expected. Then it won't be long before that white-haired bitch shows up here and starts giving us her villainous monologue before she tries to kill us," the hound concluded, searching with her eyes for where Vanessa was supposed to appear to chat with them. And the only thing she saw was a small metal door to her right. "Yep, that's where she's coming from, which means we have to be ready," she added as she looked at the door. "For what?" Roxy asked. "To lunge at her and chew her throat," Loona explained. "So, get ready. When I tell you, we're going to start rocking that fucking chair." "Are you sure that's how it's going to go?" Roxy asked doubtfully. "Of course, haven't you ever seen a movie? All self-righteous villains do that," assured the hound. "I think it's dumb. I don't think she'd dare come here and risk her neck when there's every chance of finishing us off from afar," Roxy observed pessimistically. At that moment there was a creaking sound of a door opening somewhere nearby. "Ha, watch and weep, she's here," Loona whispered mockingly. "And now she's coming in to see us." But before she could finish her sentence, a small peephole opened in the door beside them, and Vanessa's face appeared. "Oh, I see you're awake now, good," she said slyly. "I hope you had a nice sleep." "Yeah, I did. There's nothing like the acrid, eye-eating gas to induce a good night's sleep. Come here, and I'll tell you what I dreamt," said Loona. "Oh, no, sorry. I'm not stupid enough to come in and risk my neck being alone with you," Vanessa refused. "And I told you so," Roxy said. "Shut up!" Loona mentally barked. "And why do we need to communicate? I mean, it's obvious. You came to kill my son, and I've got you, and there's nothing stopping me from finishing you off right here," she went on. "Which is what I'm going to do now." She raised her hand and, judging by the creaking sound, turned a valve of some kind, and then a strange, foul-smelling gas began to flow in. "What? Using gas again?" Loona squinted. "Don't you think it's a little corny?" "Not at all. Because I won't poison you anymore," Vanessa said with a frantic smile and immediately lit a match in front of them. "I'll burn you alive!" "Hey, hey, wait! Maybe we shouldn't be in such a hurry and solve this case peacefully?" Roxy said, frightened, with Loona's mouth. "Let's talk it over first." "I don't think she'll go for it," Loona told her, a little too calmly. "It's too late, Roxy. I won't waste my precious time and give you a chance to escape from here, so I'll just kill you," and with these words she threw a match at their feet and quickly closed the window. There was an instant burst of gas in the air, and hot flames engulfed everything around. "A-A-A-A!" Screamed the she-wolf. "Good-bye, Roxy. I'll be sure to tell Gregory that you stopped by. I love hearing you screams of torment," Vanessa said one last time, and there was the sound of rapidly retreating footsteps outside the door, and then silence, diluted by the hum of flames. "Oh no, not the fire! We are dead! That's it, we're finished! We're finished! We're..." Roxy screamed in panic, writhing in her chair as she waited for the pain to set in, but then suddenly realized after a moment or two that she felt none of it. The she-wolf opened the hound's eyes and realized that they were sitting in the middle of a raging flame and it didn't even feel uncomfortable. "Um, where's the pain?" She uttered in shock. "Well? Have you calmed down at last?" Loona asked her, quietly tapping her foot on the flushed metal floor. "Not yet. Aren't we on fire?" Uncomprehending, the she-wolf asked, shifting to thoughts. "No, and we're not likely to be anytime soon. Because you and I are creatures from hell, and fire has no effect on us," the hound explained. "What? And you kept quiet the whole time? And let me panic?" Roxy was angry. "Of course, otherwise the stupid bitch would never have believed we were dead," Loona replied. "Besides, it was pretty funny watching you get nervous and scream like a baby." "You're such a jerk!" Roxy threw outrageously. "Okay, it turns out we're not going to die. So what do we do next?" "And what do you think? We just wait a little while for the flames to burn these thick ropes, and then we get out safely," Loona laid out her plan as she continued tapping her foot impatiently. "Well, sounds like a plan, let's do it," agreed the she-wolf, joining in the wait. Soon the ropes began to smolder and fray, and Loona, straining, tore them easily. "That's it," she said, shaking it off. "Now let's get out of here. One, two..." And to a loud "Three," she rushed to the door and rammed it open with her shoulder. "Phew, good work, partner," Roxy told her. "I hope that Vanessa didn't get too far away. After all, we've got to get her." "Her? And I thought all you cared about was getting revenge on that kid," Loona reminded her with a chuckle. "Well, yeah, but she almost killed us," the she-wolf remarked. "So what, a little doesn't count. But all right, we'll finish her off at the same time. But I'll charge you extra for that," said the hellhound. "What?" Roxy said indignantly. "Just kidding. Relax, I'm not as greedy as Blitz," Loona grinned. "And I'll kill this insolent bitch for free. On the firm's dime, so to speak." "Well thank you, I'm glad you're so generous," Roxy retorted contentedly. "Don't thank me. It's just that I really want to gut this Vanessa," the hellhound grumbled angrily as she looked around. They were in a dark, basement-like room (and most likely it was), with a chair and her backpack at the entrance. "Great, as so often happens in situations like this, that arrogant slut didn't even bother to take my stuff," Loona said cheerfully, grabbing it and hanging it on her back. "Well, now you and I are armed and ready for battle." "Then let's go! Run after Vanessa!" Roxy said. "Yep, let's go!" The hellhound nodded and ran quickly through the basement, searching with her eyes for an exit. She found a door that led indisputably to the outside. "All right, this way," Loona said as she opened it and spotted the stairs. "So, what's the plan this time?" Roxy asked her as they made their way up. "Fuck the plan! We just catch this shittie girl, find out from her where your boy is and kill them all!" The hound growled angrily. "How about this time we take it easy?" Roxy suggested to her. "After all, it was that kind of carelessness that almost got us killed." "Yes, Mom," Loona waved back, kicking in another door and leaping out into the hallway, where they were before. "You're missing something, though. That white-haired whore thinks you and I are dead. Which means we have the element of surprise, which..." "Ha-ha, wow! I didn't expect you to get out of there, Roxy!" At that moment Vanessa mockingly said over the loudspeaker. "Going downhill fast," Roxy agreed for the hound. "Fucking hell!" Cursed hellhound. "But if you suddenly thought that all I had in my arsenal was a gas room and an oven, you're very much mistaken," Vanessa went on. "Gregory and I have settled in pretty well, and we have a lot of clever traps for unexpected visitors. Good luck dying in agony, mutt." "When I get my hands on you, you'll answer for this, bitch," Loona cursed. "By Satan, I swear I'll..." Suddenly something whizzed past her ear. "Huh? What was that?" The hellhound asked. Turning around, she saw a sharpened piece of rebar sticking out of the floor, which flew at an angle from somewhere above. "Um, Loona," Roxy jerked her shoulder. "What?" "I don't think she was kidding when she told us about the traps," the she-wolf said, pointing up somewhere. Loona looked up and saw an arsenal of lethal spears, bags, and heavy objects tied on chains, like lights, trunks, and even a grand piano (what without it?). "No fucking way. Yeah, I'll admit, she's well prepared. But if that Vanessa thinks I can be easily pierced by some wretched..." The hellhound tried to say it again, but then a dozen such sticks flew in her direction, one of which nicked her hair tearing a small chunk out and another that nearly cut her tail clean off. "Screw that, run!" She yelled, and dashed forward along the corridor as rebar and sandbags and chain-linked concrete slabs started flying at her from all sides. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" She mumbled after each such obstacle, not stopping and stubbornly continuing toward the exit. And the corridor never seemed to end. "What the fuck is this?! Are we in «Squid Game»?! Oh!" Loona ducked a sandbag that was aimed for her head before springing backwards, a falling slot machine missing her by inches. "Where are you jumping? We're going to get killed! Quick, give me the controls!" Roxy exclaimed. "No way. What am I, a character in a game? Besides, I can do it myself and..." said Loona, as the rebar hammered into the wall right above her nose. "And why not? Come on, get us out of here!" "Hold on!" She-wolf cried, and immediately, deftly dodging another metal pin, confidently running on, easily evading all the things flying at them for the moment. "That's it! Well done! We're almost to the door!" The hellhound intensely muttered as she watched. Suddenly there was a scream in her pocket. "What?! What is that?!" Roxy was frightened. "Don't freak out, it's just my phone," said Loona, trying to reach for it with her free hand. "Who the fuck is that?" She swore, pulling it out. "Hey? Who is this? I'm busy!" "Loonie, honey, it's Blitz," said the familiar demon voice on the other end. "I just wanted to know how things were going there? Because you and our client were a little late, and it was an easy case, so you mind telling me what's taking so long." "Oh, yes, like a walk in the park," the hellhound said sarcastically, just as Roxy was jumping over a hole full of broken glass. "Except we've got sharpened pins and other heavy things coming at us from all sides now, and it's no big deal otherwise." "Wow! Looks like this kid's turned out to be a surprisingly tough nut to crack. Maybe you need our help?" Blitz innocently asked. "Shall I send Millie and Moxxie?" "No! Because I took the magical grimoir, and I don't want the two of them telling me I couldn't take out the snot-nosed little bugger and his lunatic mother," she replied, breathing heavily. "lunatic mother?" Blitz asked again. "Oh, forget it, ok? I'll do everything myself. Besides, our new client is a good help to me. Ouch, careful!" Exclaimed Loona, when a whole bunch of sandbags flew at them. "All right, Loonie, if you change your mind, let me know. I can't let anyone hurt my sweet baby," the demon muttered. "Argh, fuck you, Blitz!" Cursed the hellhound, turning off the phone. Roxy, meanwhile, had already made it to the exit. "Yes, we're nearly there! I can take it from here," Loona said, taking control of her body. She reached for the door, and as she grabbed the handle to let herself out, a broad beam of metal jerked off the wall above the door hurtling towards the floor, ready to crush her. "You painted slut!" Said the hellhound, who was caught off guard. "Stand aside!" Roxy, regaining control of her body, shouted, and sprang backward, tumbling softly on Loona's ass. The beam collapsed with a rumbling thud, nearly breaking the floor and landing a few feet away from the girls. "Are you okay? Say something!" When the dust had settled completely, the she-wolf asked, peering at the iron thing lying between her legs. "I think so," Loona said, quickly groping herself. "Though I could use a sip of whiskey after this mission." She rose to her feet and spat out the dust in her mouth. "Or more accurately, a two or three crates worth," the hound added, fixing her disheveled hair before turning back to look at the tattered, rebar-strewn corridor. "Yeah, that sucks. I didn't think we'd have to do an obstacle course." "Yeah, me too. What's to worry about, though? The important thing is that you and I are alive and now we can safely go outside and teach that evil bitch a lesson," Roxy told her, and they stepped over the beam and to the door. Something rumbled over their heads again. "Fuck that!" Loona frowned and, not wanting to dodge anything else, quickly opened the door and sprinted out of the hallway. "Phew, out at last," Roxy sighed as they slammed the door behind them and pressed their backs against it. There were horrifyingly loud sounds of destruction from the other side. "What traps she's set for us." "Yeah, someone's been watching too much Looney Tunes," the hellhound said, swallowing a lump in her throat. "What a crazy bitch! But on the other hand, though the traps were unexpected, they didn't seem that scary to me, and I..." Loona tried to lighten the mood as the blades of the circular saws whistled through the air and the nearby pirate ship's prop guns started firing at them. "Look out!" The she-wolf shouted again, taking control of the hellhound, and they jumped from side to side, dodging the spinning saws with difficulty, until, somewhere on the ninth disk, a second of hesitation put them in mortal danger. Four blades flew out of the wall packed close together giving them little to no room to dodge. "Oh no, we won't make it!" Roxy was frightened. "We've got to jump!" "Yeah, and as fast as we can! Come on, to the left!" Loona commanded. "Right!" Roxy yelled in sync with her, and they yanked each other sharply in different directions, twisting the hound's body like a spinner and... performing an incredibly beautiful and graceful U-turn that somehow miraculously dodged all the blades and brought them to the safe zone by the wall. "Wow, that's really something!" Loona said, breathing heavily. "Yeah, that was a beautiful pirouette," Roxy added mentally. "I didn't know you were so lucky." "Me too. Although I have to admit that I definitely wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Thank you," the hound thanked her. "I owe you one." "Come on, it wasn't hard at all. Besides, I wouldn't want you to die before Gregory..." Roxy told her, but out of the corner of her eye she noticed some movement and grabbed Loona's hand... and then she grabbed her crotch and yanked it upward with all her might. "Hey, what are you doing?" The hellhound whispered, blushing profusely. "When I said I owed you one, I didn't mean that you could now act like Michael Jackson and touch me... ugh... there." "Believe me, I never would have dared do that either if it weren't for that thing," Roxy said in an equally embarrassed voice, pointing somewhere down. Loona looked down and saw that another small disc had been jammed between her legs into the wall, and it was a miracle that it hadn't ripped into her privates. "Wow, that was close," the hound said, cautiously stepping over it. "Um, thanks again." "No problem, I'm glad you and I are alive. And I really hope she's out of discs. Because the less traps she has left, the sooner we'll finish this whore and her little parasite off." "Ha, and you turned out to be a lot more resourceful than I thought, Roxy!" Vanessa said over their heads at that moment. "Speak of the devil, and there she is," snorted the she-wolf. "No, she's too mean for a devil," Loona squinted. "Though she tried to kill us." "But you mustn't get your hopes up," Vanessa grinned. "We've only just begun, and though you may have survived my Corridor of Horrors, I have something better to show you than sharpened pins and sandbags." "Uh-oh, I'm so scared! So, what do you plan to do next?" Roxy asked sarcastically. "Do you want to start dropping pillars or bombs on me?" As soon as she said this, the spotlights came on the nearby rides, and all the clowns, knights, and pirates standing there suddenly "came to life" and, as if on cue, turned their red-lighted eyes toward them. Each one had a long knife or stick clutched in his hand, and some carried firearms. "There's your answer," Loona said mentally. "Ha-ha-ha!" One of the clowns laughed wickedly, then raised his gun up and fired at them. "Well, not bad either, let's run!" She-wolf shouted, and they dashed into the hall, dodging the bullets that flew at them and dodging the slashing blows of the fast-moving mechanical enemies, who laughed at them with their unnaturally loud, jarring laughter. "What a bitch! And where did she get an army like that?" Loona asked as they scarcely made it to the little curb at the ice cream parlor and dove in behind it. Bullets immediately drummed on its surface. "I guess she made them herself," Roxy said. "One thing Vanessa has always been good at was death traps. There's a reason she's been catching stupid kids at the pizza place for so many years." "Okay. Yeah, there's not a dull moment with her around. But we're not helpless chickens," the hellhound grinned, pulling out a pair of pentagram-embellished large-caliber pistols from her backpack and blowing on them like a cowboy. "All right, that's enough of us running away. Let's get out of hiding with you and send these toys to the incinerator! Are you ready? "Ha, you didn't have to ask!" Roxy responded cheerfully. "Let's go! Let's kick their iron asses!" Jumping out from behind the ledge, they rushed to go on the offensive. The robots opened fire again, but the girls no longer hid, deftly dodging shots. They began blasting the robots heads off and generously stuffing them with bullets. "Ha, take that, you rusty motherfuckers! No robot can stop me! Especially not some pathetic animatronics who couldn't even shoot a cripple!" Loona shouted, blasting them with furious blows and scattering pieces of them in all directions with her jaws that easily chewed through the thick steel. "Hey, take it easy!" Resented the she-wolf. "Sorry, I just spoke out of turn," the hellhound apologized as she continued to smash and shoot everyone in sight. "Anyway, instead of being offended, why don't you help me, huh?" "Okay," Roxy agreed, and added some lightning-fast leg attacks to Loona's movements, which she used to crumble their plastic hulls and iron joints. Loona, on the other hand, unloaded her magazines, stowed them in her backpack, and began scurrying around the room, wielding her teeth and tearing apart the animatronics that had survived her onslaught. In less than a minute or two, the girls had slaughtered all the robots Vanessa had unleashed on them. "Phew, I think that's the last of them," Loona said as she ripped the last laughing clown's head off and kicked it to the other end of the hall, squatting down to take a break. "What a mess we've made of this place." "Don't relax yet. Who knows what other traps she's left for us," Roxy said less optimistically. "Oh, come on, don't overestimate her," the hellhound remarked, drawing her pistols and quickly reloading them. "She couldn't have given us an obstacle course here, either. Besides, we..." But before she could finish, the lights came on overhead and there was loud rock 'n' roll music. "Oh, fuck, now what?" Loona asked, raising her head. "I don't know, but I don't like the sound of Club Foot playing," Roxy muttered warily as she watched the rockets and satellites above their heads come into motion with a grinding and creaking sound and begin to spin rapidly, picking up speed until one of them flew off the rope and into their direction. "Holy shit! Let's go!" Loona exclaimed, and they ran as fast as they could toward the nearest wall, dodging the satellites and missiles, which exploded deafeningly on impact, blasting everything to hell. One of them slammed into the princess tower that was in their path, it shuddered and snapped falling on top of the girls. "Ahh!" Shrieked the hellhound, barely slipping under this huge thing and nearly pinching her tail. And there were more and more explosions. "Why does everything explode like that? Did she stuff them with dynamite?!" Loona was talking as she jumped quickly over every obstacle in her way, trying not to run into a dead end. "Here's why, look!" Roxy told her, nodding somewhere sideways. Loona looked over there and saw a whole bunch of red barrels near one of the sets. "Do you know what that is?" "Of course I do. I'm not new to video games and I can guess what the red barrels are for! Ugh!" Said the hellhound, imitating an action game character, then barely dodged another missile that blew the nearby knights' palace to shreds. "That Vanessa is totally fucked up! Is she going to blow up the whole place?!" "It's entirely possible. We really messed her up," Roxy interjected, helping Loona dodge the debris flying at them. They were at the far wall, and huddled against it as they turned to look back. The children's entertainment center, once quiet and pitch black, was now a veritable battlefield, blazing like an active volcano. "Wow, what a run, maybe instead of kidnapping children she should be a fitness instructor," Loona said as she sat down on the floor. "I can't believe we made it." "Yeah, and against all the laws of logic and common sense, somehow we survived," Roxy encouraged her. They stared at the fire in silence for a few seconds and then laughed out loud. "Ha-ha-ha-ha!" Loona laughed with the joy of being alive. "Ha-ha-ha-ha!" Roxy laughed with her. But, as if wishing to ruin their premature happiness, another companion flew at them from the ceiling, and the hellhound quickly rose to her feet and ran away toward the curtained stage. "You lousy whore! Stop throwing shit at us!" Loona swore out loud. "Yeah, knock it off! No matter how much you try, you can't kill us!" Roxy added with her lips. Suddenly there was a loud click behind them. The hellhound turned sharply and drew her pistols. "Aaah!" She screamed, firing half a dozen rounds into the unknown menace, and then realized that she had shot the mannequin that stood behind them. Not an animatronic, but a simple plastic mannequin, which until then had been hidden by the curtains that had parted to the sides. And there were a lot of them on the stage. A whole crowd of tall mannequins, made in the form of various animals and cartoon characters, that stood closely together, and that made them vaguely unsettling. "What do you think? Can they move, too?" Roxy asked. "I'm not sure," Loona said, randomly firing a couple of bullets into the head of one of them and not noticing any parts or electronics in the hole that had formed. "No, they're definitely not robots, and they're not likely to attack us." "But why did Vanessa put them here?" "Maybe so they wouldn't get in her way, or maybe she was going to make robots out of them, who knows," the hellhound shrugged, still holding this crowd in her sights. "Or maybe only some of them are dummies and others are..." "Real robots who will pounce on us as soon as we turn our backs," Loona finished for her and carefully started walking sideways, warily shifting her gaze from one plastic face to another. "And which one is the robot? Anyone can refuse them," she whispered, peering into the king's motionless face and crossing to the princess, keeping her eyes on the spaceman, and keeping her eyes on the pirate. "Look for any wires or boards on their bodies," Roxy advised. "I'm sure Vanessa didn't take care of their beauty and obviously missed something." "Okay," Loona nodded, quietly moving on to the anthropomorphic beasts, which included farmer possums in overalls, wolf knights in shining armor, a shabby rabbit with a little bear cub sitting around her neck, and... "Wait a minute!" Roxy suddenly exclaimed. "What?" said Loona, alarmed. "That rabbit, I'm going to..." the she-wolf tried to warn her, but suddenly a noose was thrown around their necks and jerked upward. Loona twitched her legs helplessly. The pistols fell out of her hands and onto the floor. "Yes, mother, we did it! We got her!" Exclaimed the bear cub, jumping off the rabbit and coming closer to the panting hound. Raising his hands up, he removed his head, behind which was Gregory's angry face. "Y-y-you," Roxy wheezed. "Of course, I told you she'd fall for it," added the rabbit in Vanessa's voice, walking lazily over to Loona, twitching desperately on the rope. "Well, Roxy, that's the end of our fun game. It's a shame it ended so quickly. Honestly, I thought you'd last longer." The hellhound wheezed furiously and tried to reach for her, but Vanessa only grinned briefly, noticing her futile efforts and touching her leg with her finger and swinging it sideways. "I'm sure you've guessed by now all those traps were just distractions," she went on, watching the pained Loona gasp. "That Gregory and I had set up to play with you and make you let your guard down." "Argh!" The hellhound growled, feeling her strength slipping away. "Now that was a real trap I lured you into just like a silly wolf." Vanessa laughed wickedly and took the boy by the hand and began to move away from her. "Yes, that's how the story of the legendary Roxanne Wolf, the biggest and most pathetic loser, came to an end," she added lastly, and walked with her son along the wall while the girls desperately tried to survive. "B-b-b-bitch," Loona said with difficulty. "Let-let-me-just-get-to-you-and-I... I..." Then everything in front of her eyes began to go dark. She began to grow weaker and lower her arms. "No, not that, Loona, don't pass out!" Roxy exclaimed in her head in terror. "You've got to fight, or we're finished!" But Loona could no longer hear her, and she lost consciousness completely. Everything around her was plunged into darkness. The En… "No! I'm not going to let that vixen beat us! Hold on, Loona, I'll get us out!" Breaking the silence, Roxy shouted, and with an unbelievable effort, began trying to move the hound's flaccid body, which was hard to control. Unable to open Loona's eyes, she lifted her hand and pulled it up at random. She fumbled for the rope with her fingertips and, flexing her claws, slashed them across the taut surface. Immediately the pressure on the hound's neck loosened, and she collapsed downward. "Loona! Loona! Wake up! Come on!" Tapping her own palm on her cheek, Roxy coaxed. "Go away, Blitz, I'm not going to that stupid father-daughter meeting of yours," Loona mumbled slurred. "Yes! You're alive! Wake up, Loona! Can you hear me?" Rejoiced the she-wolf, gently tugging at her nose. "Ouch, don't pinch me! What happened?" Opening her eyes, the hound asked. "That cheeky whore almost strangled us, but I was able to cut the rope and save us." "Wow, I didn't think we could survive that. Thank you, Roxy, I'll never forget it," Loona said, sitting up and rubbing the red mark on her neck. "Well, I'm touched. But this is no time to be sentimental," the she-wolf reminded me. "That bitch Vanessa is about to leave and Gregory with her." The hellhound staggered to her feet, picking up the fallen pistols, then quickly reloading them and stowing them in her backpack. "Yeah, like I'm going to let that happen," letting out a growl, and sniffing the air, catching Vanessa's scent, Loona ran through the halls. Catching up to her slamming a foot into her back knocking the rabbit to the floor. Gregory ran back frightened. "I've got you, bitch! Now you're dead meat!" With her clawed hand resting against her throat, Loona screamed. "Any last words?" "Yeah, you should have checked your bag," she grinned through her masked grin. "What?" Said the hellhound with a frown. "Come on, Gregory! Switch it on!" Vanessa shouted, taking advantage of her confusion, and shoved her foot and rolled to the side. Loona looked up and saw the remote in the kid's hand with the button he had pressed. Immediately something beeped loudly in her backpack. "What the..." "Bomb, look out!" Roxy yelled, and snatched it off her back and tried to throw it away. "Stop, there's a grimoire in there!" The hellhound was terrified of losing the book, and had barely enough time to retrieve it before the she-wolf threw the backpack and it exploded over their heads. Loona was thrown backwards and crashed backwards into one of the mangled rockets. Luckily the flames didn't scare her, but the shock wave did. "Are you okay?" Roxy asked in a panic. "I'm fine, fine," Loona said, clutching her head. "And if you put ice on the bruises, I'll be as good as new. Where's that crazy bitch?" "Did somebody call me?!" Vanessa burst out of the fire with a knife in her hand and leaped at the hound and tried to stab her. "Argh, you ugly scum," Loona whimpered, barely able to grasp the weapon in her hands. "I'm so sick of you." "The feeling is mutual! But that's all right, now our fight's over, once and for all!" Vanessa announced with a laugh as the blade of the knife came very close to the hellhound's throat. Loona and Roxy grabbed onto the blade cutting themselves and trying to push the weapon away from their throat, with only a few fingers and waning strength they could only hold their death at bay for a short amount of time. "It's no use, we can't move it," said the she-wolf who was helping her in the struggle. "We don't have to. I got an idea," the hound told her, moving her head slightly sideways. "Just die already, Roxy, it's all over for you!" Vanessa said. "Someone's going to die but it won't be me," the hound snarled back, and then, as she relaxed her grip, she let the knife slide down to the floor, just above her neck. Vanessa gasped in astonishment, and that was the second Loona's sharp fangs sank into her throat. The hellhound leaped to her feet, straightened up, and began to kick Vanessa over herself like a puppet before she tossed her backward, toward the burning mural. "Yes, die!" Loona exclaimed triumphantly. Vanessa slowly rose to her feet shuffling backwards, one hand gripping her ruined throat. "Mommy!" Shouted Gregory, rushing to her, trying to stop the blood. "No, go away," she mumbled. "That's it, you're fucked!" Loona laughed wickedly, picking up the knife that had fallen, and slowly began to approach her injured enemies, her tail wagging in excitement. "No, I won't let you hurt my mother!" Gregory lunged at her, but the hound backhanded, roughly sending him to the ground. "Don't interfere, you little brat, you're next! You're the one I've come to kill! But first I'm going to kill that insolent whore who tried to cook me!" Loona exclaimed angrily, brushing a scarlet trickle down her neck. "Well, Roxy, the moment you've been waiting for has arrived," she said mentally to the she-wolf. "Come on, do it. Finish those fuckers off." "Yeah, sure, finally I get another shot at ending them," Roxy said as she approached Vanessa and her son. Stopping a few paces away from them, she brought her knife to bear. Vanessa tried to get up one last time to stop her, but was instantly given a painful kick in the leg. "Stay down, this is the end, you can't stop me," Loona said mockingly. "Please don't hurt him," Vanessa pleaded. "If you want revenge on someone, kill me. Let him go." "Oh no, you will answer to me both. Him for killing me that time and you for what happened today," the hellhound licked her lips like a predator. "I only wanted to protect him, to keep you from hurting him," Vanessa said. "And that was your fatal mistake," Loona said with a sneer, waiting for the long-awaited execution. For some reason, however, Roxy hesitated. "Well, what are you waiting for? Kill them," Loona said, seeing her confusion. "Yes, yes, now, don't rush me," Roxy nodded, raising her knife again. "Please don't hurt my son. You're the one who needs me, after all. I hacked you when you were animatronic, and all the blame is on me," Vanessa said, still clenching her throat, trying to push the boy away from her, but he stubbornly wouldn't leave. "Don't get your hopes up. That's exactly why I came back from hell, and now I'm taking him with me," Loona said aloud, pretending to be Roxy. "Right?" She asked the she-wolf. "Yeah, right, he's a parasite who deserves to die, but..." mumbled Roxy. "Oh no, not that!" Loona suddenly exclaimed. "What?" Roxy didn't understand. "Don't tell me you suddenly grew a conscience and decided to spare them," the hellhound explained irritably. "Well, it's not that I'm sparing them, it's just..." said Roxy in a shaky voice, "…look at them." "I am, so what? All I see is the little snot-nose and his twisted psycho mom who almost killed us twenty times," Loona growled. "And after all the jumping and exploding and fighting with the robots, you're going to keep them alive? Are you out of your fucking mind?" "Apparently so. I just didn't expect that little creep to be..." "So, are you gonna kill us or what?" Vanessa asked at this point. "Shut up!" The hellhound snarled, mentality chastising at Roxy again, "You're going to believe this shit she's playing the pity card because we have her on the ropes. This is some crocodile tears bullshit! All of it is an act". Meanwhile Vanessa was still trying to get Gregory to leave successfully. "After this mission we're going back to hell and I can promise you almost half the people down there would do the same thing before putting a bullet in your head when you look away, especially when their life's in danger. Think about why we're here! Why YOU'RE here! You went to hell because of that creep and now you want to forgive him?" "Yes, you're right. He's the reason I'm in there. And it's his fault that I now have to suffer an eternity in Hell," Roxy nodded. "So what's the problem? Kill him, and as one TV show said: The movie ends right away. Go ahead, finish what you started! Avenge yourself." Roxy tried once more to strike. Vanessa and Gregory clutched each other tightly, but the she-wolf, after hesitating for a moment, tossed the knife aside. "No, I can't do it," she said aloud. "Even though I want to do it, I can't kill the mother and her son. It's not right." "Oh, shit, here we go again. Hello, Moxxie Number Two," Loona said with a sigh, then stepped in their direction herself. "But then I'll do it! And I don't give a fuck about fucking morals!" "No. You won't. I've already saved your life twice. You owe me one," the she-wolf reminded me. "Fuck!" Loona cursed, lowering her raised paw. "No, I won't kill you," Roxy said louder, turning to Vanessa and Gregory. "And even though you've really pissed me off, I forgive you and am giving you a second chance." "You're serious? You're not kidding?" She asked hopefully. "No. And even though we've had our differences in the past, I'm willing to forget them and... " "CRASH!!!" Suddenly there was a deafening rumble. Roxy recoiled in horror as one of the missiles hanging from the ceiling crashed down on Vanessa and Gregory, crushing them to death. "Oops," she said, raising one eyebrow in surprise. "That's kind of sudden." "Yeah, like they say: Rocket fell, killed the scum, and what happens next is not our fault," Loona said, no less shocked by what had happened, pushing Vanessa's arm sticking out from under the debris with her foot. "Yeah. Well, in that case, fuck it," Roxy shrugged. "Mission accomplished." "And quite successfully," Loona added. "And though not everything about it was smooth, I hope that you will appreciate our murderous service and give us five stars on the Hellp*," she finished in a business-like tone. "I will," Roxy promised. "Anything else?" "No," said the hellhound, looking at the corpses some more. "Would you like a drink?" "I don't know. I've never had a drink before. Why not?" "Good, then let's go," Loona grinned, pulling out a grimoire and reciting a spell. A portal opened in the floor in front of them, and the girls stepped into it and returned to hell. * A parody of the "Yelp" website, where people can voluntarily leave their ratings and reviews for various organizations.
