The next day, Jackie left early to visit his uncle's antique shop, his mind racing with thoughts of how to introduce Pemuya to his world without overwhelming her. "You're an awful nephew!" Uncle cried out, hitting Jackie's forehead with his two fingers painfully. Jackie laughed nervously, trying to deflect his uncle's teasing. "I've been busy," he replied, his mind racing with thoughts of Pemuya. "Tell me all the truth!" Uncle yelled. "You've been out for so long, and you didn't bring any artifact. Then something is wrong, isn't it? Uncle can sense when something's wrong!" Jackie sighed, knowing he had to come clean. "I did find something, Uncle. Something... alive." Uncle's expression grew serious as he studied Jackie. "What do you mean?" Jackie took a deep breath, steeling himself for the revelation. "I found a girl, Uncle. Pemuya. She's from the tribe. Now she's pregnant, and she needs my help." Uncle narrowed his eyes, seeing right through Jackie. "And who's the father, may I ask?" Jackie swallowed hard, bracing for his uncle's judgment. "It's me, Uncle," he confessed. "It was a mistake, but I'm going to take responsibility for her and the baby." "Jackie!" Uncle yelled even louder. "You're a true idiot! Couldn't you wait till you get out of the jungle? But no, you didn't think with your head, but with your..." he trailed off, noticing Jade approaching. "Jackie!" she squealed, jumping on him to give him a bear hug. "Oof!" He chuckled, holding her tightly. "Missed me that much, huh?" "So, what's the big news?" she asked, when he put her feet back on the floor. Jackie sighed, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. "It's a long story," he began, trying to find the right words. "But I found someone in the jungle. Her name is Pemuya, and she's... pregnant." "Jackie's an idiot!" Uncle yelled, explaining his opinion to Jade. "He's the father." Jade's eyes widened in shock, and she looked at Jackie with a mix of surprise and concern. "Jackie," she said softly, "you've got to tell me everything." "I can't," he blushed a deep pink. "You are a child." "But Uncle said it was a mistake," Jade pressed. "What is done can't be undone," Uncle grunted. "Will you marry Pemuya as soon as possible, my awful nephew?" Jackie's face grew even redder, and he nodded. "Yes, Uncle. I'll do everything I can to make it right." "And when you will bring her here to meet us?" Jade demanded. "Me, and Uncle, and Tohru?" Jackie winced, knowing that the introduction would be a shock to everyone. "Soon," he promised, trying to keep his voice steady. "I want to make sure she's comfortable first." "Okay," Jade said lightly. "Goodbye, Jackie. I've got to do my homework." Jackie watched as she retreated to her room, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on him. He knew that the next steps would be difficult, but he was ready to face them for Pemuya and their unborn child.
