Chapter 17

Bonnie began coughing, the darkness surrounding her, making it impossible to see anything. The last thing she remembered was Laura throwing dust at her. She saw shadowy figures, the outlines of which resembled familiar faces. Were they her parents? Bonnie stepped back, her heart pounding in her chest. "No, it's not true, I know it's not real!" she screamed in her mind, trying to suppress the growing excitement.
"Aren't you glad to see us again, honey?" came her mother's soft voice, so familiar and yet so foreign. It seemed deceptively sweet in this darkness.
"No! I don't believe it!" Bonnie screamed.
She could feel her own heart pounding in her ears. Her father reached out his hand to her. He looked just like he did in her childhood memories: with warm eyes and a kind expression.
"Come with us," he said in a soft voice, as if he was coaxing her to return to the safety of childhood.
Bonnie shook her head several times, her mind struggling with the temptation. She knew it was just an illusion created by fear and darkness. "It's not them! It can't be true!" she repeated to herself.
Suddenly, a sinister mocker attacked her parents from the darkness. Bonnie felt horror as she watched the monster devour her parents. Memories of that terrible day when she was left alone flooded her. The ginger knew that these were not her real parents, but watching the monster kill them before her eyes was unbearable. Every sound, every scream, every movement created a feeling of complete helplessness in her. Bonnie felt the disgust of this horror growing in her soul, but she was paralyzed. Her legs refused to obey her, and she knew that if she could not move, she would be the next victim of this sinister creature. What she saw made her vomit. And although Bonnie had nothing to defend herself with, her hatred took over, and she attacked the monster with her bare fists. She was going to fight, no matter the cost. The mocker threw her to the floor.
Bonnie tried to crawl away, but it was useless. The monster grabbed her and sank its powerful bony paw into her flesh, tearing it and sending waves of pain. It screamed in an inhuman voice: "Your recklessness will k-i-i-i-ill you!"
"Why does it hurt so much? Is this all real or just a hallucination?" Bonnie thought, her mind racing. She closed her eyes, as if trying to block out reality, and felt the darkness covering her, carrying her away into the arms of oblivion. "Wake up!" flashed through her mind.
There was silence all around, everything disappeared somewhere... The darkness began to slowly dissipate. Bonnie again saw the dim room in front of her, where Henry was in a cultist suit.
"No! Maria, stop!" he screamed, his voice breaking with despair.
The ginger, gathering her strength, rose from the floor and quickly approached him, trying to rock him and bring him to his senses.
"Henry, wake up, this is all not true!"
Henry, breathing heavily, slowly opened his eyes.
"B-Bonnie?... What a horror I just saw... What was that?"
"It's all dust, it's hallucinating..."
Bonnie saw a puddle on the floor. "But I really threw up..." she thought to herself.
She looked at Henry's outfit.
"Why are you wearing cult clothes?"
"Oh yeah... I'll tell you later... It's time to get rid of it!" Henry abruptly pulled off his outfit, throwing it on the floor. "We need to find Honidesu quickly!"
Bonnie noticed her two axes on the floor next to Henry and raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"Wow, where did my axes come from?"
"I found them and broke down the door to save you..." Henry spoke with pride, but there was concern in his eyes.
"Thank you... Am... where is Laura?" she asked, but immediately realized that this question was inappropriate.
"Who?" Henry looked at her in surprise.
"Doesn't matter, okay, we'll decide later... We need to figure out our location urgently and call the police! But for that we need phones..."
"Okay, I got the phones, we can do it right now!" he answered with relief.
"That's great!" Bonnie exclaimed, feeling a surge of hope.
Henry pulled his phone out of his pocket and tried to call.
"Damn..." he said with a deep sigh.
"What is it?" Bonnie asked, alarmed.
"We're not getting a signal. We need to find a place where there is one."
Bonnie grabbed her axes and they continued down the hallway together. They frantically searched the building for a place where they could find a signal. The team tried every room they could find. As the cultists got closer, they became more and more worried and desperate.
But then they came across a hidden room on the second floor. A signal bar appeared on the phone. They immediately called the police and reported their situation.
"We just need to find Honi..." Bonnie said decisively.
As soon as they turned the corner, a group of cultists appeared in front of them. But Honidesu and the cult leader were not among them. They had to act quietly and carefully.
"I remember which way they took her," the ginger whispered.
They carefully made their way to the side of the stairs, trying not to attract attention to themselves. Each step was difficult for them. Their hearts beat in unison with the tension of the moment...
