Chapter 15

Settings
Bonnie tried to remain calm and attentive as Laura led her down the dark hallway. She looked around, hoping to find some kind of exit or a way to contact the outside world. However, the more she looked around, the more trapped she felt, everything in this place looked like it was about to drive her crazy, and her head and body were weakening. "Damn, what kind of place is this?" she thought. They walked silently to the door. When they entered, the woman locked the door with a key. "Sit on the chair," Laura said coldly. The ginger felt extremely uncomfortable, but she still listened to her and sat down on the chair. The room was very dim, as was the whole building. Laura was trying to mix a strange mixture in a jar on the shelf, humming a melody to herself. "What are you doing?" Bonnie asked, looking warily at the woman. Laura smirked, but her eyes said something else entirely... They were filled with an overwhelming fear that Bonnie had never seen before. "Just doing my job," Laura said, her voice laced with tension. "I don't want to disappoint Walter." "What did he do to you?..." "He didn't do anything to me! Just breathe this in!" She thrust the can of black smoke into Bonnie's face, the acrid smell making her cough. "Please, do it," Laura said, her voice shaking with fear. Bonnie recoiled in disgust. "No! I won't breathe this in!" "Please!" the woman cried, her face set in despair, her hands shaking. "I won't!" "Fuck it!" Laura threw the can at the wall in rage, the glass shattering with a deafening crash. Tears started streaming down her face as she ripped off her mask. She looked completely devastated. "I didn't want to do this... but... I had no choice," her voice was barely above a whisper. Bonnie was startled when Laura suddenly got angry, but then she realized that she had to be careful with her. "S-sorry..." "I understand that you don't want to, that you're scared... But do you really not want to feel a little happiness?" "Sorry, but I don't trust such strange methods of getting happiness..." "I can't leave this place, it makes me sick when I leave it..." "I see..." Bonnie whispered. She sat and just looked at Laura sobbing. Her thoughts were all over the place – what to say? How to help? "I... I'm sorry you feel this way," the ginger muttered." "My brother... even he doesn't care! I have no one else..."  Laura began to shake and laugh nervously. Bonnie was frightened by Laura's sudden outburst of rage, but quickly realized that she had to be careful with her words now. "Laura, this is not funny. We have to find a solution!" Laura's laughter became more and more hysterical. She looked at Bonnie with a cold gaze and a slight smile. "I'm sorry, but I'm needed here... Walter values me!" Bonnie was overcome with horror. She tried to break free from Laura's arms. "What are you doing? Stop! Who is Walter?" "Our leader! Submit to the Great Disruption! Don't ruin my life, please!..."
