Susan's death. Part one.
- SUSAN... - Susan's body became milky pale, with no hint that blood was flowing through her veins. Her body acquired a painful thinness, as if bones were beginning to show through under the skin.
The iris of the eye became colorless, only the pupil sometimes burned with a bright blue flame. And, despite the fact that she died, and Susan was not young, she looked so young...
Susan exhaled shakily, not fully realizing what had happened to her. Death saw Susan die.
He knew that Susan would not want to stay with him in his monastery and would choose oblivion. He simply watched, as always, and was ready to cut the thread connecting soul and body... As always...
Although somewhere deep down... He felt a note of melancholy, familiar from the moment when Susan's parents announced that they intended to fence off their daughter from the influence of Death and everything mystical. Perhaps at that moment Death simply allowed himself too many feelings...
But now... It was something new. This was not Susan's soul; it was too material to be such. Like someone else...
No longer human. Susan left her human body as if she had no attachment to it in the first place. Susan looked around, and for a while her gaze lingered on herself, on her former body. Then she turned her gaze to her pale and skinny hand and stared at it for a while. She even tried to pinch myself.
The pain was a little dulled, but was still felt. Susan bit her lip as if she was trying to take a bite and swallow. She turned sharply to her grandfather.
-WHAT IS HAPPENING... WALKING?... - Susan mentally scolded herself for using her grandfather's voice. Because she should have at least some respect in front of him.
-GRANDFATHER... - She was a little surprised when the change in voice was much more difficult for her than usual. Pulling herself together, she tried to make him much quieter and softer.
- GRANDPA, What's going on? - Quite a banal and ordinary question. However, in this situation, not asking this was a crime. Death nodded, understanding.
-YOU'RE DEAD. AT LEAST, THAT PERSON YOU ARE... - With these words, Death showed her a life meter. White sand was completely at the bottom, but black sand came from nowhere and filled the upper part of the hourglass to the top.
Moreover, the life meter seemed to stop. Death pointedly turned it over several times to show that the sand did not flow. Susan exhaled again, trying to pull herself together and find an explanation for what was happening.
- BUT, it turns out... I didn’t die like an ordinary person and now - - - l'm in an unknown state? - Susan said everything in a whisper, so as not to speak in capital letters.
- YES. -Susan had one very interesting guess about this in her head.
- So... I can't die because I have part of your power and...? What does it mean, “the one that is human”? -
- NO YOU ARE DEAD... -
- Yes, but... -
- THAT PART OF YOU THAT WAS A HUMAN IS DEAD. BUT, THAT PART THAT WAS NOT ONCE A HUMAN IS NOW STANDING IN FRONT OF ME. - Susan took another breath and, with horror, noticed that her breath had become very cold. And this whole situation was gnawing at her from the inside.
- What should I do, grandfather? -
- I WOULD PREFER TO LEAVE YOU IN MY POSSESSION. I HAVE A LOT OF WORK RIGHT NOW. - With these words, Death put away the life - meter and called Binky.
- Understand. - Susan answered hesitantly. Death climbed onto the horse's back and helped Susan climb too, taking her into his arms. And, as usual, Binky, ignoring all the laws of physics and gravity, quickly took off into the sky and, rushing across it...
Carrying with him two unfortunate people...
All the way Susan was silent, chewing the situation somewhere inside herself.
Once in the realm of death, she also did not try to say anything. She went to her room. (Although, to be precise, to the former room of her late mother.)
And did not leave there for some time.
