Again

Notes:
The chapter was written on April 14, 2021.
Fortrex is quiet. Well, almost. Clay and Lance are at it again. They’re both sitting at the kitchen table, arguing again. The white knight didn’t follow the plan, which made the leader very angry.
“Lance, when are you going to realize that you have to follow the plan? You almost made us lose.” Clay looked at his comrade sternly.
“Clay, you need to learn to relax. You’ve been busy all day with this code, and you’re getting angry because you’re sleep deprived.” Lance was relaxed as usual. Just because you can stay awake all day doesn’t mean the rest of the team can.
“We have to stay alert. You never know when Jestro might want to attack the city. We have to be ready to fend him off.”
“Well, you be ready, and I need a rest, a massage and a warm bath.”
“You’re useless.” The blue knight said quietly.
“Excuse me?”
“I’m saying you’re useless! You’re always thinking about yourself, and the defense of the kingdom comes last!” Clay shouted.
“I try to protect the kingdom as much as you do, but when I have a free moment, I want to spend it on myself.” Lance didn’t hold back either.
“How did you get knighted?”
“It wasn’t my lust. My parents made me go to the Academy. I always wanted to be an actor.”
“So, you’d have gone into acting after graduation. Why did you stay a knight?”
“I don’t know!” Actually, he does.
“Then go into acting!”
“You don’t get to decide my fate!” The white knight stood up and knocked over the table, dropping not only the plates but Clay as well.
“Do you want to fight?” The blue knight slowly got up and jumped over the table and pounced on his comrade.
The rest of the team was in the main hall, discussing today. This fight had been harder on them than the previous ones, but they had made it through. Macy was afraid that their friends would just kill each other. It had been about half an hour and still no sign of their companions. The princess decided to check on them, taking Axel with her. Just in case. As they stepped out into the hallway, they heard the sound of breaking dishes and shouting. They had to run quickly into the kitchen to see a not-so-pleasant scene. Some shelves and a table were overturned, dishes were broken, and the boys were in torn clothes, all scraped, scratched, and bruised, ready to kill each other. The yellow knight quickly pulled Clay away from Lance, and the red knight helped the blond man up.
“What the hell happened here?!” Macy was furious. “You either socialize normally or you fight outside of Fortress. Uh, no. Outside of fortrex, you’re gonna kill each other. Make peace.”
“I’m not gonna put up with that asshole.” Clay said, breaking free of Axl’s grip.
“I’m not gonna put up with that walking charter either.”
“I’m sick of it! Either you put up with it, or I don’t know what I’m gonna do to you!” Macy really wants to punch them both.
The knights went to their rooms and for the rest of the day no one spoke. At night, the red knight had a great idea and hurried to tell Aaron and Axl. The three knights gathered in the main hall and activated Merlok 2.0.
“Merlok, can you help us?” Macy asked.
“With what?”
“Do you have an album of old pictures of Clay?”
“I must have somewhere.” Merlock dug through the memory blocks. “Yeah, here it is.”
As they started flipping through the photos, they noticed an interesting shot. It was of Clay and Lance. Both smiling at the camera, both soiled. Clay had a chipped tooth, but it didn’t bother him much.
“Looks like they used to be friends,” Aaron said. “What happened between them?”
“I don’t know. Clay wouldn’t talk to me about it. I tried to talk to him, but he just dismissed it.”
“I’ll have to ask him what happened.”
The three of them went to bed so that tomorrow they would have enough energy not only to defend the kingdom, but to help Lance and Clay reunite.
