I woke up and immediately looked at the calendar. It’s the twenty-sixth of October again. But this time, going back to the beginning was my conscious choice. I realized that I couldn’t escape from here, but I could adapt. I reached for my pants pocket, where I had put the piece of paper with my notes in the evening, but it wasn’t there. Which was quite expected.
I remembered exactly the contents of the note, I memorized it. Today I had to meet a werewolf in the living room during dinner. But this no longer bothered me. I knew how to kill a monster.
Therefore, having found the things I needed in the closet, namely a pistol, a baton and headphones, I got dressed and went for groceries. The hum didn’t start right away, but I put on my headphones as soon as I left the house.
Having calmly reached the store, I took the cart and went to the rack with canned goods. I didn’t like them very much, but I knew that the power would be cut off soon, and I needed to prepare for it.
Oddly enough, I was not at all afraid of the upcoming meeting with the monster. I no longer felt trapped. I began to understand the rules of this world and adapt to them.
Still, I doubted. What if another monster attacks me today? What if events don’t repeat themselves? I tried to push these thoughts aside.
Meanwhile, I approached the house. I was already tired of the silence provided by the sound-isolating headphones, so I took them off as soon as I crossed the threshold. Immediately the hum stopped. With feigned enthusiasm, I moved to unload the cart, although I knew that there was no one to pretend to be cheerful for, but I still tried not to drive myself into depression. That would be the worst thing.
Finally, I had breakfast. I cooked my own meals from perishable ingredients: eggs, greens, and bacon, without using up the durable ones. But the dish turned out delicious, and I ate it with great appetite.
After breakfast I got dressed again and went outside. The buzz started right away. I was on my way to the police station. It would not hurt to purchase a small warehouse with weapons. Which in the future, if there is one, of course, can be expanded to a full-fledged warehouse. I smiled at my thoughts. For the first time in what seemed like an eternity.
Having entered the station, I immediately went to the area where the weapons were stored. Taking several guns and a bunch of cartridges, I went to the exit, deciding to take the car. I knew where the parking lot was, like, in principle, any policeman, I opened the nearest car and loaded my things into the trunk.
I decided to stay on schedule and have dinner while watching TV in the evening, so I prepared dinner for myself in advance. I didn’t feel like having lunch, so I spent the day cleaning and polishing the weapon.
But then it was six o’clock in the evening. I went into the living room, took the shotgun, and turned on the TV. Once again there was a program about the deep-sea inhabitants of the Pacific Ocean. I carefully placed the tray so that I wouldn’t knock it over during my actions and began to eat.
At exactly six fifteen everything went quiet. The screen went dark. A fanged monster appeared on it. I stood up and loaded my weapon. A moment later, the werewolf appeared in the room, and without hesitation, I fired. The werewolf froze, not expecting the victim to do anything, and soon disappeared. I exhaled. The first victory remained with me.
I calmly continued dinner, and at seven I collapsed on the bed. In this world I got tired faster, but I had already come to terms with it. And he calmly closed his eyes, not worrying about tomorrow.
