Azriel’s passenger is a tall man in an overcoat and black hat. He quickly gets into the car and asks to be taken to the police station.
- You know, you look very much like a detective from the last century,” the driver remarks.
- That’s funny. But you’re right about your profession. I’m a detective,” the man replied with a reserved smile. Apparently, he was not in the mood for conversation.
- Do you dress like that on purpose? — holding back a laugh, the cab driver asked.
- Yes, I like it so. As if I were Sherlock Holmes, — the detective explained more relaxed.
- Ha, it’s really interesting! And as an employee, are you good at what you do? — Asriel asked.
- I’ve been a detective for eight years now. In that time, I have solved fifty-eight crimes that the police of the whole city sweated over! — said the passenger.
- Wow! That’s productive! You must be very smart! — exclaimed the cab driver.
- Thank you, — thanked the man, — Many people say that to me. Although one of my colleagues surpasses me dozens of times. I’m far from him.
- I don’t know… Well, at least you’re smarter than me. Why are you going to the police station? — The driver was curious.
- I need to interrogate one of the criminals. If he tells me what I want to know, I can find the ringleader,” said the detective.
- Uh-huh. Good luck! — laughed the cabbie.
- Thank you,” the man whispered, sinking into his thoughts.
- Strange, I’ve never heard of you,” Asriel muttered thoughtfully, speaking to himself.
- I don’t advertise myself. I live like a normal person, I wouldn’t want bandits to break in at night and kill me,” the detective explained with a frown.
- I see! — Nodding his head, the driver exclaimed. — A wise decision. By the way, we’re here. Have a good day!
- Thank you. Goodbye! — the passenger said goodbye.
