The pack is a family for Scott.
The pack for Scott are the closest people, after mom, of course.
Stiles, Lydia, Malia, Isaac, Allison, Liam and Hayden are all his family.
McCall can't lose them.
But when Allison dies, Isaac Lahey leaves for France, and Kira and her parents also leave, the werewolf feels betrayed and devastated.
He only has Lydia, Malia, Stiles, Liam and Hayden. But even this group is slowly disintegrating.
Hayden leaves Liam and goes to another city.
Then beta Scott does not want to communicate with anyone for a long time and pushes away everyone who wants and tries to help him.
Lydia tries to develop her abilities and Stiles helps her with this. The two of them leave for another city so that Stilinski can enter the police university.
McCall is left with only Malia Hale, his beloved, who promises him that she will never leave him. And Scott believes her. He wants to believe the girl so desperately that he does not immediately realize that she is also leaving him.

After a while, Stiles and Lydia return to the city, madly in love with each other, which is evident in their every gesture and look. Melissa's son feels superfluous. The guy thinks that it would be better if he also went somewhere, just not to see and feel the love that is literally in the air. Then red-eye gets angry. He repeats to himself over and over again that his friend deserved it, he has been waiting for this for so long — since the fourth grade — that if the Alpha interferes in the relationship of friends, the sheriff's son will most likely send him far and for a long time. Then Malia comes back to him. Hale tearfully begs to forgive her, asks for another chance, but McCall doesn't know if he can believe her. And over the next year, the entire pack returns to Bacon Hills, except for Hayden, who has found another pack. Scott doesn't know if he can trust them all. The black-haired man does not know whether they will leave him next time or stay. He is no longer sure of anything, except that at any moment they can all leave again and not return. And now McCall is scared. He is afraid to be alone again, afraid that he will not stand this loneliness. After all, he's really just a teenager who had to grow up too early. Just a teenager who's had it all — werewolves, Oni, Nogitsune, the death of friends, a pack of Alphas and Anuk-Ite. But Stiles says "We won't leave you anymore," and in this phrase everything is regret and a share of guilt for the fact that Scott was left alone, without the support of friends, confidence in his words, that the werewolf will no longer be alone, and most importantly — the very support that McCall so lacks enough. And the werewolf believes him.
