When Isaac's mother's coffin was lowered into a hole dug next to his brother's grave, only the six-year-old boy himself, his father, who put his hands on his shoulders from behind and cried, and the excavator driver, who was burying the grave, were present at the cemetery.
When Isaac and Lahey Sr. returned home and the father sent his son to bed, the man took up the bottle for the first time in a long time…
