Chapter 4

Settings

Thorny bushes scratched my sides and clung to my wings, the narrow path leading to the old pond ended at this point, usually I stop here to double-check if I had everything with me - jars of ink, pens and several clean scrolls were rattling in my bags. The last time I went to the forest two weeks ago, and it really helped a lot - yesterday I took a new chapter to the publisher. Well, it's all thanks to inspiration, and by the way about the source of inspiration - the castle: there, Darkfog and I searched for the right books, had a good chat, she told me about her past (she turns out to be a vampire and therefore has been living for a long time!), well, in short, I really liked her... It would be nice to meet her again.

Dry leaves rustled under my feet - it had recently started to get cold, and I had to warm up a little, but in autumn I thought even better. I put on a gray sweater, which was quite enough, because it's warm.

I crossed the threshold of the castle and turned the already familiar way into the library, to the right of the entrance I noticed that the wall, which was still in place in my last visit, collapsed, broke through the floor and opened a view of the basement studded with wooden stakes, which apparently performed the supporting function of this massive structure, I didn't even know what is there here!

I didn't attach much importance to this, and continued on my way to my new favorite place. This time I was looking not only for inspiration, but also for one book that contains valuable knowledge on the topic about which I am currently writing a book. I'm going there, and I hope I'll meet Darkfog again... Brr, no, no, no, Flitter, you came for the book, not to her! The neat rows of bookcases were filled to overflowing with all kinds of books, but the library still seemed impossibly empty. Something is missing here, or rather, someone... I sat on the windowsill with a pen in my teeth, but the lines did not come into my head, I sat there for 5 minutes in complete devastation, without writing a line, all my thoughts were occupied with something incomprehensible, they seemed to be, but I did not hear them. Maybe I didn't want to hear them? I put pen and paper in my bag and headed for the exit. It felt like I was betrayed. Although we didn't make an appointment. Being disappointed, I ran blindly, drowning in my painful thoughts.

Suddenly I froze, a shadow flashed before my eyes, in an instant it became so scary as it had never been before, although it was still very light outside, well, it can't be a ghost? I staggered back, and felt the emptiness under my hooves, the feeling of an arched fall, and then a sharp pain piercing my whole body, I blacked out, and perhaps already died...
