Three hours later
The snow got a little heavier along the way, but both cars and the truck finally reached a wooden two-story house, where there was an inscription “Airport” on top, the lower part of the letter “I” was bitten off and was missing. Behind the house itself there were three passenger planes, one of which was slowly being pulled onto the runway for takeoff. On the way to the left of the road there were already lanterns that were shining in advance in case there was a snow storm. Along the way there was already a brick wall the size of three floors, somewhat reminiscent of the Great Wall of China. Between the walls, the road ran straight into the city, and on top, between the edges of the walls, a large iron table with the name of the city itself hung on sticks. In the lower corner, under the name, there was an additional small inscription: “Foundation 1525.” According to it, the city first appeared in 1525. When the movers passed between the walls and into the city, they were presented with beautiful plots of land. On each site there were either houses made of wood or brick. Some were one-story, while others were two-story. In addition, each plot next to each house had its own glass greenhouse with warm pipes, despite the fact that winter had already arrived in this city. Vegetables were still grown inside, which the owners watered, fertilized and harvested. — Wow. — David was surprised. — Like? All the people in this city are hardworking. Everything is yours here. In general, you can live. — says Ivan. The car turned onto the right street and the Draytons began to look for their house. The truck and the Omarovs did the same. The children looked with interest at the houses covered with snow. They also had the opportunity to take a close look at the greenhouse structure and the sites in general. Ivan stopped the car near a two-story brick house with a green roof. From the outside it looked no different from the old Drayton house, but in fact it was much larger. — This is where we will live now! — said the man, getting out of the car. David also got out of the car with the toys and he was very surprised, because he had not been here before. Sonic, Shadow and Silver were no less surprised than their owners and restrained themselves so as not to voice their emotions out loud. Dennis fell behind the “column” and parked opposite the house. Ivan approached the house and, opening the door, began to let in the movers with boxes. First of all, they took David's boxes of toys to the second floor, where he would have a room, exactly like the room in the old house. Then they delivered shelves with disassembled shelves, a bed, a chest and other things that can be disassembled and put back together. The family will sort out the collection of furniture themselves, but for now the movers have begun to carry the rest of the boxes into the house. At this time, the Omarovs went into a neighboring house, inside of which there was little furniture, mainly two sofas and several empty shelves. Otherwise the house was still empty. Inside and out, it was very similar to their old home where they came from. Only instead of three rooms on the second floor there were two and larger ones, and on the first floor there was a storage room, since the bathroom also had a toilet, since in the old house the toilet and bathroom were separate. Otherwise, they liked the new house. — I like this house. — Andrew said. — Me too. The main thing is that we live next door to our friends. says Stephanie. — It’s a pity that there is no Wi-Fi and no Internet. — Dennis was a little upset, looking at his mobile phone and discovering that, unfortunately, there was no Internet signal in this city. — Well, okay. Let's live with the TV for now. Maybe one of these days we’ll build a network somehow. Stephanie impatiently ran to the backyard emergency exit to look at her vegetable garden and greenhouse and she couldn’t believe her eyes. the entire back house was covered with the largest glass greenhouse, surrounding and intersecting with the back of the house. The greenhouse itself was somewhat reminiscent of a bio-dome for growing plants on other planets and in Antarctica from science fiction films. There were a few lamps on top that shone no worse than the sun and warmed the flower beds and vegetable gardens. There were even bushes with blueberries, raspberries and cherries in the corners. Above the greenhouse there were a couple of solar panels and wind generators, which were charged with energy from the wind and the sun in turn. Simply put, free electricity, for which you don’t even have to pay. All that remains is to pay for a plot of land, which will allow you to save some savings for the holidays or for the purchase of some expensive equipment, such as network wiring, which the father is currently dreaming of when he finds himself in this house. She ran into the house again and called her father and grandfather along so that they too could admire the beautiful garden and vegetable garden in the backyard of the house, despite the snowfall outside. — It's really beautiful! — the toymaker agreed, noting that modern technology is not so bad. — But something worries me. What if there is no sun for several days, or there is complete calm? Will we be without electricity until the weather returns to normal? — Don't worry, dad. I looked, in the basements of these houses there are generators that store energy and are used when there is no electricity for a long time. Despite the large capacity, generators can be adjusted so that everything is not used up too quickly. — Danny explained, after which Andrew calmed down. Having admired the beauty of the greenhouse, the Omarovs went to take things out of the car. They didn't have too much stuff, so they didn't use freight services. Andrew took only one box with his wooden toys and his Pinocchio inside, because they were lighter, since at his age dragging heavy things was dangerous for the bones. Stephanie and her father themselves took four more boxes out of the car and trunk, and then brought them into the house. When the movers delivered the last box to the Draytons' house, they got behind the wheel of their truck and drove back. — I hope we don’t get lost on the way and the boss will pay for the gas himself? — one loader asked his partner, and he answered him: — Yes, I'm tired of this work. When we get home, I'll quit and ask for an easier job. To a car service or to a billiard room. The truck started moving, and Ivan first collected the toy chest, while David himself cut out a box with toys inside and took them out. Afterwards, he put them all there, at the same time putting Blaze, Sonic, Shadow and Silver there. — Stay here for a while until we get everything ready! — the boy asked them, as if he also knew that they were alive and could hear him, after which he closed the chest. The toys immediately all came to life at once and lightly began to watch through the keyhole, one by one, as the father helped his son assemble the bed and shelves, so that he could then drive nails into the walls and hang those same shelves on them. What attracted most attention was the wallpaper in this room, which was noticeably different from the wallpaper in their old house. — I bet it was Lili who chose the wallpaper. — Sonic said quietly, looking at the wallpaper pattern. — I couldn’t agree more with you, blue. She definitely has good taste. — Rouge agreed. — You say that every time she does something around the house. — Amy remarked and it was true. The bat really admired something like this every time, although it was a common occurrence for everyone. After a while, Ivan finished with his son’s room and they both went out to sort out the rest of the boxes. David wanted to help his father and decided to take the toys apart later. When the room was empty, all the toys came out of the chest and began to look around the room. It was much larger than the one in which they lived before. Silver and Blaze climbed up the curtain rope to the window and decided to look at the neighboring house opposite them, where the Omarovs moved in. — I hope everything will be okay with them? — the white hedgehog thought about them. — The main thing is not to be afraid of them. Since they have already seen you alive, they know about it and have sworn an oath not to tell anyone about it. — Blaze answers. — I know. But I never thought that this would serve as a random chain that would help revive friendship between our neighbors and hosts. — Silver explained and then looked up at the sun. The snowfall has already ended and a blue sky with a beautiful luminary began to appear in the sky. Before this, the sun hidden behind the clouds seemed like a gray coin. A couple of icicles on the windowsill immediately began to slowly melt when the sun appeared and drip small drops of water down onto the green grass, which had not yet gone into hibernation and which had not yet been covered with snow. — And here the sun in the sky seems smaller. It's like it's been shrunk down a bit. — Beautiful view. Here I think you can often play snowballs. — suggests the toy cat. She couldn’t wait to quickly go downstairs and roll around in the snow herself, like a real cat. She jumped from the windowsill, spun in the air and landed on her knees like a real superhero from the movies with her palm, stood up and walked to the exit safe and sound. Fortunately, the arms and legs were made of hard plastic, which did not break in any way, and were all painted with phosphorescence, which glowed in the dark. Silver widened his eyes and opened his mouth at what he saw, and his wings behind his back, without pressing the button on his stomach, opened themselves a second later. He was distracted from his toy erection by Sonic's shout: — Silver, come down! You promised to tell us about the land of fogs where you were produced. Remembering what he promised, he retracts his wings by pressing a button and also jumps off. As he falls, Omega and Metal Sonic manage to catch him to prevent him from breaking. He stood in the center, around which all the toys, except for Shadow, who stood bashfully behind the chest and was sad, stood in a circle and listened to him. Silver began the story: — This is a small country that consists of just one city. The country was named so because when Soviet travelers appeared there in the sixties, there was always fog there. It lasted there for so long that many people always saw in the sky, instead of the sun, a gray, sad and cloudy coin on a white background of the sky, and the fog was so thick that any person could see no further than five hundred meters from himself. Because of this, by the way, there are almost never bandits and chases there, since if there were, for example, a chase between bandits and the police, then they, without expecting it, could accidentally run into someone else’s car, which would suddenly appear from the fog and stop them with your car. As I said, they thought so at first. After all, ordinary fog could disappear, if not in a day, at least in two. However, the fog that was in that country lasted much longer. About five or six days. However, later, when they had already given this country an official name and after that the blue sky with the sun appeared for the first time, travelers and residents of the country had already become accustomed to the name by that time. The fact is that fog appeared there once a month and lasted for about two or three weeks. But nevertheless, the sun and its warmth still seeped through this very fog. Therefore, it was possible to live there and the Soviet travelers decided to create one extra town in this country, since no one had lived there before. They decided to build a city and live there, precisely because of the incredible animals that lived there, and in other countries around the world there were none at all. It is noteworthy that one of the six-legged creatures, the size of a rock, which they then saw, they then mistakenly took for some kind of dinosaur that was able to survive when all millions of years ago went extinct. The creature paid attention to them, but did not attack, but simply passed by. Their behavior related to people like elephants to mice. Many years ago, many people still mistakenly believed that elephants were afraid of mice. However, now everyone already knows that in fact, elephants are very friendly towards mice, they just try to carefully look at their feet in front of them, so as not to accidentally crush them, for example. Those creatures did the same to people. And despite their gigantic size, which reached from three meters to a huge mountain, they fed mainly on trees and grass. Like camels, they ate very little; most often they preferred to drink water, since without food one of them, for example, could live for about a week, and the stomachs inside them are very small, unlike the lungs and other organs. — What about the city? — Infinite asked and Silver continued: — Initially, the city in the land of fogs was a village that was built from trees. However, after the collapse of the Union, it was noticeably rebuilt, since after the collapse the whole world, including the United States of America, later learned about this country. They then mistakenly decided that it was a poor country, since there was only one city there, and they sent money, resources and even bricks there for donations, thanks to which by the fifteenth year of the twenty-first century the village was completely rebuilt into a city consisting of skyscrapers. Everyone liked Silver's story until Cream looked around curiously and asked: — Where is Shadow? Shadow himself was still sitting behind the chest at that time, closed his eyes and almost cried. When the toys saw him, they became excited. — Shadow, are you okay? — Sonic asked worriedly. — You know, Sonic, I kept thinking about the words that you said at the gas station... In some ways, you were right. I’m still ashamed of what I did to Silver... — the black-scarlet looked at everyone with tear-stained eyes. — It would have been much better if Eggman and Knuckles had torn me apart, or if Oscar had tied me to that rocket instead of Silver... You shouldn’t have stood up for me... All the toys stood staring at the hedgehog in surprise. It seemed to them that Shadow had come to his senses after everything that had happened and was happy. It looks like he kept everything secretly to himself. — Shadow, I forgave you a long time ago! It's okay, you're home! I'm not mad at you. — Silver tried to calm his friend down. — You seem to have a mess in your head after all this! — No, Silver, for the first time I have clarity in my head. I'm just an old, worthless toy! You have a lot of cool stuff that will interest anyone. Even Sonic is cooler than me! He has a ring with a mechanism that makes him talk! And I am a pathetic piece of rag who is not capable of anything! — Shadow couldn’t hold back and started crying. Sonic and Silver looked at each other in confusion. They didn't know what to do. Shadow had never been like this before. — Shadow... I should be jealous of you! Remember what Andrew said. I was created in a factory, by soulless machines, and sold for money! You were created by man! David’s mom sewed you up herself, putting all her soul and love into it! - said Silver, hoping that this would help. - In this house there lives a boy who dotes on you because you are a toy! You are his toy! However, this didn't really affect Shed. He stopped crying, but turned away from everyone so as not to look anyone in the eyes. In the end, Cream got tired of this whole situation and, approaching him, she slapped him in the face with all her might. — You selfish hedgehog! You should have seen how David cried when he couldn’t find you! He thought it was his fault that you disappeared!!! We were all worried too!! Some of us cared!! I cared, after all!!! — the rabbit freaked out and burst into tears. Shadow and the other toys looked at her in surprise. It never occurred to the hedgehog that one of the toys could worry about him while he was getting into trouble. Black-and-scarlet again felt ashamed that he had brought the little rabbit to tears. Despite his character, which was similar to the original, he treated Cream quite well. — Cream... I'm sorry, I didn't know... But tell me... Why did you stand up for me? What I did then was far from being the best thing... — the plush hedgehog found it difficult to say this. — You are not as bad as you seem... You have always been kind, but what happened... You can understand. You were David's favorite toy for many years, and before that you were his mother's toy. You accepted it harder than Sonic that Silver was now your favorite toy. Despite all your bad deeds, you are good... You are like a father to me... — the girl said, sobbing. When Shadow heard the last words, he was shocked. However, everyone was shocked. All the toys treated Cream well. Even Eggman never did anything bad to her, although the original character could easily kidnap her to robotize her. Through his glasses, the doctor almost cried and tried to hold back tears of joy. — Doctor?... Are you... Crying?... — Omega turned to him. — A! What? No no! What do you? Something just got into my eyes! — the doctor lied so as not to be ashamed and wiped tears from his glasses. — Come on, doctor? Even villains can cry and this is not a disgrace or shame at all. So cry and maybe your soul will feel better. — Bokkun supported the doctor. The latter didn't even argue. Shadow and Cream hugged each other for a few seconds at this time, and then released each other. — We don’t hold it against you, Shadow. Since Silver returned home with you safe and sound, plus he forgave you for this incident, then we all forgive you too. — says the rabbit. At that moment, Blaze returned to the room and threw snowball jokes at Silver. — Ha! Received? — she said, provoking her friend to fight with snowballs. — Oh, so-o-o-o! — the white hedgehog grinned and ran after the cat, who ran again down the steps to the exit of the house. None of the Drayton family even paid attention to them, as they were busy unpacking their things.Chapter 16: Home sweet home!
November 28, 2023 at 3:49 AM
The next morning, the drivers of the cars and truck drove on, entering the road and turning left, since that was where they were going. On the whole there was nothing interesting along the way so far. One boring forest that David and Stephanie looked at. The monster they saw yesterday in the fog was more interesting and could at least somehow relieve their boredom. Suddenly they saw snow slowly falling from above.
— What is this? Snow? In October? — asked David.
— Where we are going, summer lasts a short time. Winter comes earlier there and ends later. — Lili explained.
— So we will also do less gardening? — David asked.
— Why? We are going north, that’s why there is such a sudden change in weather, and the residents there have long been accustomed to this and have taken everything into account. There are many greenhouses in each section of the house, in which you can garden in both winter and summer, and the water is hot in pipes next to the greenhouses thanks to solar panels, because a little sun still gets there, and there is also a special dam near the waterfall, where water from the river goes further and floats off into the ocean. — the father explained.
— Well, if it’s not a secret, then where exactly are we going? — he finally decided to ask them, because he himself had never asked them about this topic.
— We are going to Krasnogurbinsk. I myself have long dreamed of living there. They say that this city became the most popular in the Soviet Union, and later in Russia, thanks to the film “Rocky 4,” which was filmed there for a couple of days. Moreover, they filmed it there in March, when it was still winter there, and there were still a couple of months before spring. — mom explained.
David wondered what kind of city this was. But then I decided to keep quiet for now and wait for them to get there, so as not to spoil the surprise for myself. Need I say that Stephanie knew about Krasnogurbinsk in advance and for a long time wondered what kind of city it was where they were going? They drove further and further, and the snow became more and more along the way. There was snow everywhere, on the grass and on tree branches. This beautiful view relieved David and Stephanie's boredom a little, for they very quickly wanted to see winter. It’s not for nothing that they say that frost and sunshine make it a wonderful day.
— Have we forgotten our fur coats? — Stephanie asked.
— No, I looked on the Internet in advance and found out about this city. At this time of year it always snows here before November. We won't freeze. I’m sure the Draytons also knew about this and prepared warm clothes in advance. — Dennis explained.
— The question is different, did the movers know about this? — Andrew thought, worrying about the truck drivers.
— Don't worry, dad. I'm sure they knew where they were going and prepared in advance. — his adult son reassured him.
In order not to worry, Andrew took out the heart medicine in advance, poured a couple of drops of black liquid from the flask onto a plastic spoon and drank it. Although the medicine was bitter, it was useful, as he himself knew.
