Chapter 15: Moving

Settings
After that day, the Drayton family and Omarov Sr. began to communicate with each other again, the latter, when he returned home, spent the last two nights with his wife, of course, not without quarrels, but the husband still kept her promise. Of course, not just putting his father in a nursing home, but putting his son in a psychiatric hospital, complaining about his childhood fantasies, which became nightmares, thereby angering his mother even more, which he specifically sought. By this time, Andrew had long since stopped drinking, packed all his wooden toys and crafts into boxes for moving, and was waiting for them to start moving. Before the last night with her mother, Stephanie told her father that it was good for her to live with him and Omarov Sr. did not mind, given that now the single mother herself will take care of her hooligan son, since she supposedly loves and spoils him so much. Let's see how she will live without them, without their help and raise Oscar. At this time, everything was only getting better for the Draytons. Since they had already packed their things for a long time, except for David’s beds and toys for now, and the moving truck would only arrive two days later, while they were sitting at home and doing something that they weren’t doing, because they were then carried away with their work that they almost forgot about your beloved son. They played together every day. In the morning, for example, David now began to play together with Sonic, Shadow and Silver, considering the last time they disappeared together in one day. And after lunch, his parents joined him and played with him, feeling like children again, as they used to be. At night, David now slept in bed again with Sonic and Shadow. Well, he didn’t forget about Silver. Since this hedgehog was glowing, he left it with the Blaze night light so that they would shine a little brighter together, which was wonderful and David liked it. Sonic and Shadow were sleeping together again with David flanking him in the bed. Silver was not against this, since while David was sleeping, he and Blaze, like their prototypes on which they were based, had a love story and stood together on the shelf, admiring each other. From time to time they would sometimes come down from the shelf and walk around David's room while he slept. Some of Shadow's confidence came true. Everything really became the same as it was before, but only partially. After all, now he loves Sonic, Shadow, and Silver at the same time. He was so happy about this that, looking at the boy sleeping next to him, he almost cried, holding back his tears and smiling. In order to calm down and not cry with happiness, he hugs the boy’s shoulder and falls asleep on it, as if on a pillow. The next morning the moving truck finally arrived. Eggman climbed through the window first and looked at the truck logo through his binoculars. — WHAT??? — he was surprised, since the moving van that came to pick up the Draytons' things for moving was called "EGGMAN". Only instead of the doctor himself, some kind of spherical cockerel was depicted with a villa in the right wing. — What happened, Doctor? — asked Deko and Boko, who also climbed onto the windowsill — These people wrote my name on the truck, but they dared to draw some ridiculous rooster instead of me! — Eggman was angry that there was some kind of bird on the van instead of his famous emblem. — Why are you making noise here? — Sonic asked and went to the window. Seeing the van and the reason for Eggman's displeasure, he laughed. — My friend, don’t take everything too harshly! They didn’t mean to offend you, it’s just that in this case the word is perceived differently. The name with such a logo was invented purely as a joke! — And by the way, “Eggman” is not exactly your name. It's a nickname you got because of your physique. — Tails remarked as he looked out of the box David had put them all in last night. — I am the greatest scientist in the whole world! Do these people have the right to treat a genius with such disrespect?! — Robotnik ignored the little fox’s words, continuing to be indignant. — Quiet! Do you want us to be heard?! — Shadow remarked, still sitting on David's bed. — You’re lucky that David’s mom woke him up earlier than usual today. — Calm down, Shadow. Now we will all return to the box so that no one notices anything. And this is not the first time we have done this. Nobody will know about us. — Sonic reassured him, when steps were immediately heard on the stairs. — Well, that’s it, we’ve finished playing... — said the black-scarlet one and froze. Sonic, Eggman, Deko and Boko barely managed to reach their seats. Sonic jumped onto Shed's bed, and the others climbed into the box and closed it at the last moment. David's dad entered the room, holding a toolbox in his hands. Putting the box on the floor, he looked into the box with toys and, making sure that everything was in place, put Blaze there along with the stand. Having sealed the box with tape, Drayton began to dismantle the bed. Sonic, Shadow and Silver were sitting on the box at this time so that they would not be forgotten.

At the same time

Stephanie was still sitting in the hallway and watching TV, because she had already collected her things in her room a long time ago and was waiting for her father to come to help patch them up with tape. There was nothing special to watch, as there were boring programs on TV. And somewhere there was advertising. She kept missing it until she accidentally came across an advertisement for Silver the Hedgehog toy on one of the TV channels at that moment. It was this advertisement that attracted her attention, because she was already familiar with Silver, who lived with the rest of the toys at her friend’s house opposite the house, and out of curiosity she decided to watch this advertisement. — Silver the Hedgehog, contact me! Silver the Hedgehog, get in touch! Reply to the star center! Silver the Hedgehog, how do you hear? — said the voice-over, apparently reminiscent of Nikolai Baskov. — Silver the Hedgehog is in touch, I can hear you well. — answers another voice belonging to a boy aged six. — Silver the Hedgehog, planet Mobius needs your help. — said the same voice, similar to Nikolai’s voice. — I'm flying out! — the boy himself said, picking up and holding up in his hands a ship-shaped box with Silver’s toy inside. — SILVER THE HEDGEHOG!!! — several voices shouted in chorus behind the scenes, the image scrolled and then showed the Silver toy itself in the boy’s hands and how he was shown around, what he looks like and what he consists of. At this time, another male voice spoke behind the scenes: — The world's greatest superhero, and now the world's best toy. Silver has it all. A wrist slingshot, a kick button, the ability to glow in the dark and a speech simulator with a set of phrases. — while the voice-over was saying all this in the advertisement itself, they showed how the boy himself took out that same slingshot on his hand, pressed a special button on his back, which allows his right leg to sharply stretch forward, forming a kick, covered it with a shadow to demonstrate its ability to glow in darkness and pressed one of the buttons, after which the figure itself spoke out loud: — Secret mission, flight to unknown worlds! And the most wonderful thing. Plastic wings. — said the same voice-over, after which the boy behind the scenes pressed the button on Silver’s stomach. Two wings immediately opened behind him. The next frame showed how Silver's toy itself seemed to come to life for the filming of this advertisement and jumped off on its own, hoping to take off. But then she immediately fell down, straight into the camera. Bach. The sound of cracks was heard, the cracks themselves appeared on the screens, and the toy figure itself, closing its eyes and sighing heavily, lay down on top of the camera. At that moment, an inscription appeared from below, which a voice similar to Nikolai Baskov read aloud: — Not a flying toy! — Wow! — Stephanie admired, looking at the advertisement. — Buy Silver the toy hedgehog and save the entire universe! — a male voice said off-screen, while three such toys were already shown on the screen, next to an empty box in the shape of their ship. — SILVER THE HEDGEHOG!!! — several voices shouted in chorus behind the scenes, the frame changed to several of these toy Silvers in such ship-shaped boxes on the shelves, and then the logo of the store company that advertised this toy appears in the center. At this moment, Nikolai’s voice behind the scenes finished: — Ask in the TV stores of the Suggana Empire network! — That's it, Stephanie, get dressed! We're already leaving. — said Omarov Sr. — I'm coming, dad. — his daughter answers him and turns off the TV. Dennis left the house and headed to the car, where Andrew was already waiting for him and Stephanie. Grandfather still could not believe that his son decided to take him with him to his new home. But at the same time, he was happy that he was able to make peace with Danny and that he would not part with his granddaughter. Hurricane was rushing around the yard, which they decided to leave here, because he belonged to Oscar, which means Karen will have to take care of him. And it was not safe to take him to a new place, because he could no longer be re-educated and he was uncontrollable. — Dad, look! — Stephanie pointed to the moving van, which was parked next to the Drayton house. — What a coincidence! — the man grinned, looking in the same direction and seeing a friend who was walking to his car with his family. — Stephanie, get in the car with your grandfather, I’ll be right there. The girl and the old man got into the car and waited for Dennis to talk to the neighbors. Approaching the house, he decided to joke a little and sneaked up and put his hand on Drayton's shoulder while he was fiddling around in the trunk. — Danny! You scared me! I told you many times not to sneak up! — Ivan was indignant when he turned around and saw his friend and was glad that he did not have time to hit him. — Sorry, I couldn’t resist. — Omarov apologized. — Are you leaving already? — Yes, it's time. We've been here too long. — the interlocutor answered and looked at the house opposite. — You decided to move quickly. — Sorry, but I can no longer live under the same roof with my wife. She hit me too hard. I will take my father with me, Stephanie also decided to live with me. — What about Oscar and Hurricane? — Oscar is still in the hospital, but now he and the dog are Karen’s complete care. — It's clear. Well, buddy, I wish you good luck in your new place! Don't forget to visit us sometimes if possible. — Good luck to you too! After the conversation, the friends went to their cars. The Draytons did not suspect that their separation from their neighbors would be very short. When Ivan’s car drove onto the highway, a truck with things drove behind it, and Omarov’s car was driving at the end. By the way, we should talk about how the toys felt inside the boxes during the move. Mostly calm. Of course there was no air, but they were essentially toys and they didn’t need to breathe to live. Sonic, Shadow and Silver were in the back seat with David in the car, and the three of them were sitting to the right of their owner, and David, before they drove off, also fastened them with a seat belt so that they would not shake during the trip. Plus, Silver’s figurine was in a sitting position, because David himself put him that way. From time to time, while the Draytons and their son were not looking at them, they secretly came to life and looked while sitting fastened, sometimes they turned their gaze to the windows and looked at the sky, sometimes noticing trees or houses nearby that they passed by. David himself could see absolutely everything around him, because he was taller than the toys and admired the view from the side and enjoyed the views they were driving past. Likewise, Stephanie sometimes looked through the side window at the door of her car. Both cars and the truck were leaving the city, passing through a bridge leading over a large river and Lily accidentally noticed the river, noticing that it had become larger. — No, look! These Chinese again released excess water from their dams and the water rose again. — she said. — Don't worry! Where we go, the river will always be smaller and there will be no feeling of fear of Venice. — her husband reassured her, continuing to hold the steering wheel. — Will there be a school there? — David asked. It’s not that he, like some children, didn’t want to go to school, but he was simply interested, since perhaps in the future he would go to school. — Of couse! — the father joked in response. — Where we are going, there is everything. And schools, and shops, and parks, even cinemas. So we will live as if in chocolate. And we can easily find where to work there. For example, there are a couple of factories and one corporate company. Otherwise, the city is completely similar to the village and the people there are different than in big cities. While Ivan was telling all this to his son, the latter continued to look out the window and saw how they had already crossed the bridge and were driving through the forest. The view of the forest was so beautiful that he began to tell himself in his thoughts what he was seeing. — Birch... Scarecrow... Birch... Rock... Christmas tree... Lake... Fishermen... Christmas tree... Birch... Support... Bunnies... Black car.. . Christmas tree... Rock... — and so on. A couple of hours later, Omarov’s car was running out of gas, but fortunately there was already a gas station nearby in the middle of the forest along the road where they had stopped to refuel. The Draytons and the truck decided to wait for them for now, so that they would not fall behind them and would not lose them. Taking into account the fact that there will be a couple of turns ahead and the Omarovs could accidentally turn in the wrong direction from where the Draytons would go. Along the way, they came to the first turn and went right. From their car windows, David and Stephanie could see a beautiful little village of forty houses to their left as they drove along a road that climbed up a small mountain and then dropped down. Further along the way there was a huge thick fog through which they drove. The fog was so thick that it was difficult to see anything through it. Fortunately, the road was visible and the cars and truck turned on their headlights just in case. Along the way, the travelers saw a small one-story cafeteria in the middle of that same forest and stopped again to have a snack and move on in half an hour. By the way, there were four more visitors inside who also didn’t mind drinking cola and eating hamburgers before driving or walking further to where they were going. After a snack, the Draytons, the Omarovs and the movers moved on. Having driven a couple more miles through the fog along the way, poles with ropes that conducted electricity were visible on the side. Apparently there were power plants nearby and a couple of other villages where electricity was supplied. On the way, they suddenly noticed that an earthquake had begun. Every two seconds the earth shook slightly and stopped, and a sound was heard, more like stomping, as if someone huge was walking somewhere nearby. And they were not wrong in assuming this. Both cars and the truck stopped in place to figure out what was causing the shaking. Suddenly, two tanks slowly drove past them across the road from the right side of the land with green grass to the left, pointing their weapons somewhere back and above where they were coming from. The whirring of helicopter propellers was heard from above. Taking a closer look through the fog, they noticed that the helicopters were on chains and were dragging something behind them. Following the helicopters along the path was a huge creature the size of a rock. Although the fog was thick, the truck drivers, as well as the Draytons and Omarovs, were able to see the huge monster that was walking with the military. The monster was six-legged with gray skin, in places with dark brown spots, on the stomach and between the head there were several tentacles without the usual suction cups, six legs resembled huge columns, and judging by the belly, it also looked a little like a huge spider. The weight of his body was enough that each paw left deep tracks the size of a large SUV in the hard concrete along the way. The military did not pay attention to those passing by and suddenly stopping nearby, but the creature slightly turned its huge head, reminiscent of a predatory dinosaur, and drew attention to the witnesses. Fortunately, it did not attack them, but simply opened its mouth slightly and quietly made a sound reminiscent of a mixture of the roars of a lion and a bear with the groans of a wolf. After this, the creature again turned its gaze straight ahead and moved on. The Draytons, the Omarovs, the truck drivers, including the toy hedgehogs, were shocked by what they saw. They had almost never seen anything like this in their lives. Ivan was the least surprised, for he had the feeling that he had already seen this monster somewhere. The monster itself passed by and disappeared into the fog, accidentally touching and almost breaking with its back left paw a rope held between two supports, which caused those same supports to slightly wobble in place. Four more helicopters flew behind him, holding him on chains, and a couple more tanks also followed him. After which the road was clear and they could move on. — What was it? — asked David. — This is a monster from the land of fogs. I heard somewhere that the government called him from some parallel world and secretly takes him around our planet, thanks to which some people sometimes noticed him on the streets. However, the government itself denies and refutes all this, and the fact that someone saw it is passed off as imagination. Although personally I don’t believe in this nonsense. — the father explained. As they drove on, the thick fog ended and there was another large forest on the way, and the sun was already setting. — Did it get dark so quickly? asked Andrew. — We probably drove too long in this fog and that’s why the day passed so quickly. We should find somewhere to stay for the night! — Dennis suggested. Along the way, on the left, there was a large sign warning that it was another two hundred miles to the nearest town. Both cars and the truck decided to stop near the sign and parked next to it and decided to spend the night. — We’ll spend one night here, and then we’ll move on tomorrow. — says Lili. — Fine. — David didn’t argue and was already getting ready to fall asleep. Having stretched out his seat belt and his toys, he lay down on both back seats, as if on a bed, and fell asleep, hugging his toys. Even the truck drivers took out two cups of coffee, finished it and fell asleep, because they still had to go tomorrow. When all the drivers and passengers of the cars fell asleep, the hedgehogs came to life and began to think before also going to bed. — I know this monster. — Silver whispered to Sonic and Shadow so as not to wake up the owner. — You know? — they asked in a whisper at the same time. — This is a monster from the land of fogs. Creature like him are only found there. They are mostly harmless and are wary of people... Well, like elephants are with mice. — explained the white hedgehog. — But how do you know this? — asked the blue hedgehog. — I am from this country myself. It was made and sold there in one of the stores. Sometimes, looking past the TV, I saw in the window how, instead of cars, a couple of these giants passed by. One of them also had about fifty people riding on its back, as if on a city tour. When I was ordered and taken to the box for packaging, I managed to see through the glass door two similar ones, three meters tall, apparently their children, which one person used as a horse for a walk. — Silver explained. — Come on! You are so interesting. — reluctantly, but still the black-scarlet whispered in response. — Well, you still don’t know a lot about me. I’ll tell you all about this later when we arrive at the new house. — Silver answers. — Fine. Good night! — Sonic answers them and the toys also cover their eyes.
