Chapter 13

Settings
"I've had enough of this, Hoseok," Jungkook says without strength in his voice glaring at the demon who is filled with anger and panic. "I know my father had a hand in this. I'm tired of dancing to his tune and nodding every time he asks me to do something or makes me do something. He overstepped his bounds when he intimidated my favorite person who was innocent." "Jungkook, he's got everyone on edge to get you back." "Let him get it back first, and then we'll see," Jeon sits with a bottle of non-alcoholic beer in his hands hoping that he'll feel slightly intoxicated even though it's impossible, and he'll feel the relaxation he's been trying to get lately. "If he thinks he can influence me that way and get me to take his place, he's wrong." Hoseok takes a seat in the old, nearly collapsed chair next to the demon who does nothing but stare at the floor twirling the bottle in his hands. The nail which is no longer covered by the upholstery digs into the demon's thigh making him hiss from the prick in his skin. "You do realize I can't cover you for that long, right?" Jeon rests his elbows on his knees and puts his fingers together in a lock, looking directly at Jungkook who has his eyes covered and is breathing deeply trying to break the panic that's gripping him. "I'm already suspected of this." "Cover for me as long as you can," the demon finally looks up at his best friend not hiding the weariness and sadness in his own eyes. "They won't do anything to you." "Jungkook, it was his choice." "One that my father provoked." "I'm not going to say he didn't. But you can't deny the fact that he left on his own. He didn't try to talk to you, even though he knew you'd do anything to help. And there's a good chance that you would have worked things out and settled it. He's just a coward." "Hoseok, shut your mouth. What happened to you? Ever since he left you've been disliking him even though it was the other way around." "I can't stand anyone who hurts people close to me in any way." "How would you feel if your favorite person, that is Yoongi, just disappeared without saying anything, and instead of supporting me, I showed my dislike for him? And then it would turn out that your father was involved." "It won't happen because Yoongi wouldn't chicken out and fight for us anyway. I'm a hundred percent sure of that. He would have broken down, but he would have kept going to keep what the two of us had built and are still building. " Everything inside Jungkook seems to have crumbled from the inside out. The shards are scratching his soul right now delivering torment that seems unbearable. He doesn't take his friend's words as a spit in his soul or a knife in his back because unfortunately, Hoseok is partly right. Sleep was not in either eye, no matter how hard the demon tried to lie down comfortably. Taehyung lay at his side, his snow-white hair strewn across the pillow, long eyelashes twitching in sleep as his master's face grew peaceful. After a passionate kiss, standing in the cool water under the moonlight, they headed to the place where they had spent an equally passionate night. This sex was different from the past: it wasn't as rough, there were no sudden and deep movements, the whole process was filled with tenderness and the desire to take everything from each other. Taehyung didn't hesitate to show his feelings to the demon who just lay there and felt warm lips pass over his neck, face and chest, causing a crowd of goosebumps and, it seemed, reciprocal feelings. Right now Jungkook is fighting a fierce battle with a swarm of thoughts that are keeping him busy. They're all bothering his soul not even giving him a moment to just be still. The demon stares uninterruptedly at the sleeping Taehyung who wrinkles his nose cutely and smiles slightly. Apparently he's dreaming about something. He covers him with the blanket that has slipped down to his waist to keep him warm. Not a second passes before Kim opens his eyes abruptly and looks at Jeon whose hand remains resting on his shoulder along with the blanket. Sleep attacks the angel again and his eyes start to slip shut again, but he doesn't give in to it and stands up, looking at the demon with one eye, because the other one is still closed. "Why are you awake?" Taehyung rubs his eyes with the palms of his hands, wondering why the demon is awake instead of facing another dream. "I'm going to lie down now." Jungkook takes his hand off the angel's shoulder and from his sitting position he takes a lying position not reacting to Kim, who has moved closer to him to share his warmth. "Again? You mean you're going to do what you did last time?" The angel now assumes a sitting position, trying to find some emotion on the demon's face, but he meets only complete indifference, which hurts Taehyung. "Okay. I'm done." Kim pulls back the blanket dramatically, revealing a view of her naked body, to get up from this bed and leave. Leave not just from this hotel, but from Jungkook's life. He's not going to let his feet get wiped on him. His hands are trembling slightly not allowing Kim to properly grasp the edge of the bed to push himself off of it and stand up. His legs are woozy and not obeying him at all, even as he leaves the bed and meets the floor with his feet, feeling the breeze wafting back and forth beneath him. The visibility in the small room leaves a lot to be desired, so he simply picks up any items he can find and identifies his own by touch. Taehyung silently gathers himself ignoring the stare of the demon who just continues to lie on the bed, which until now had been warming the bodies of both of them, not allowing their tenderness and feelings to go beyond it. When he finds himself fully assembled, he walks slowly toward the door which with a slam should set everything in place. There is only noise in his ears. Taehyung slams his pockets to make sure he's got everything, but he can't feel his phone. Angel tucks his index finger and thumb into the corners of his eyes and exhales tired of their resulting story which unfortunately didn't end fabulously. Kim turns around to retrieve his cell phone, but is confronted by Jeon's chest, which has become an obstacle in his way. Jungkook grabs his hand and brings it to his side, hiding it in his two. Taehyung watches with glassy eyes as the demon kisses the chilled fingers feeling a tingling sensation throughout his body. His chin begins to quiver slightly which doesn't escape the demon's notice. "Don't go," Kim doesn't even startle when Jeon picks him up sharply under his buttocks and lifts him up looking down at him. He doesn't react, not even indignantly, as he carries him to the bed and lays him on top of it. No reaction, as if Taehyung were a completely inanimate being. "I can't let you go, you know? What the fuck are you doing to me, angel?" The angel's chest began to jerk and his soundless, hysterical laughter bursts out. Tears stream down his face, his cheeks, leaving wet paths that the demon kisses. An inner voice screams at him that this is wrong and he shouldn't be lying there right now and giving in to the caresses of someone who really spit in his soul a couple minutes ago. Why heal when you hurt on purpose? "Why are you hurting me?" Taehyung whispers, climbing out from under his body and sitting up straight, hanging his legs off the bed. He sees Jungkook sit up and hides his hand in his own, allowing the tears to take over even more. "I don't want to suffer, Jungkook. I've had enough of everything." The demon only remains silent, clutching the Kim's hand and saying nothing, realizing that he is now reaping the rewards of his actions. "Thanks to you, I'm letting go of the past. The past that crushed me mercilessly every day. It was my fault for letting it control me," Kim stopped breathing hysterically and started listening to the demon. "I was weak in this whole game because I couldn't pull myself together and put a stop to it all. But with you, I found the strength to say goodbye to him." "Do you need me just so you can say goodbye to something that's been eating at you for a long time? I'm sorry, I don't think I'm right for that role," Taehyung was about to get up from the soft mattress and continue on his way, but he was sat back down rather abruptly and rudely, silenced in that way. "No, Taehyung, listen to me, please. I've been living in the past all this time, you know? All these three fucking years. But I've learned to live in the present with you," Jungkook feels the angel stop breathing at his last words, and his hands stop shaking. "I was afraid of how quickly I was able to succumb to you and your charms, and how I began to leave everything long ago behind. I even asked myself the question: "Maybe you are my present, and then the future?". Taehyung, you did it when others couldn't." The tears were no longer flowing. It was as if time had stopped for Kim. All those words brought a warmth to his chest, but it struggled with the realization that if Jungkook needed him, why didn't he jump up and stop him before he got to the door? After all, a lifeline is grabbed for immediately. And according to the demon, the lifeline was partly Kim. "I don't even know what to say to you." "You don't have to say anything. I just wanted you to hear what I had to say and realize that you matter to me. Even if it sounds crazy after what I did." Taehyung grinned slightly looking directly into the demon's eyes. All around, it was beginning to dawn quite slowly, the sun rising again to give its warmth to others. One can faintly hear the sea playing with the shore, and the people - early birds - going about their business, trying not to talk loudly as the occupants are still asleep this early. Jungkook stands up, stretching his stiff legs, and looks up at Kim, who is staring out the window, smiling slightly. "What are we going to do next?" The angel asks softly, turning away from the demon and heading for bed, which has already cooled down. "To be," Jeon answers confidently, following him under the blanket. "To be what or who?" "We will be one with you," Kim looks at Jungkook who presses the angel closer to his chest to hide his embarrassed smile as usual. Taehyung feels the butterflies throwing a party in his stomach, and excitement spills all over his body. This moment will be remembered forever.

***

A newly formed couple is sitting on the couch and drinking hot drinks. Unexpectedly, it began to rain outside the window which was supposed to be tomorrow, but still decided to please today. On the way home, Jungkook repeatedly asked Taehyung to stay with him. Not because they're together now, but because it's easier for an angel who doesn't have to pay for a room and a demon who has Kim looming under his nose. But he did not agree to any, even though he used a secret technique in the form of Orpheus. But Taehyung just laughed saying that on the contrary he might be jealous. "Are you going to return to our planet?" the angel is going to find out, sipping a hot drink that burns the tongue and hits the teeth unpleasantly. "It's unlikely. I've settled in here. This place feels more native to me than those lands," Jungkook glances at his boyfriend who only pursed his lips at what he heard, hiding them behind a mug. "Are you going home after you've done everything?" Taehyung only mooed in agreement trying not to let out the sudden sadness that came with the realization that they wouldn't be seeing each other that often. Sure they can go to each other, but still, the fact that you have love somewhere with you feels a little different. The demon is also trying to hide his sadness that has settled over him. Angel feels that there is a gap between them that needs to be filled with trust and conversation. As Kim realizes, the past is a pretty sore subject for him, but it will still need to be discussed sooner rather than later. The sooner the better. "Jungkook, what's wrong with your past?" The demon stops drinking his coffee, which the angel has carefully made for him, and raises his eyes to Orpheus who has taken a sock from the laundry and chewed on it. "Don't think I want to stick my nose where it doesn't belong. It's just that I think that if we talk about it there won't be any misunderstandings between us." "I was eighteen at the time. One day I went to the veterinary pharmacy to buy pills for Orpheus. Our acquaintance was not unusual: he just told me which ones to choose to make Orpheus feel better. I started to visit that pharmacy more often to see him and get acquainted with him, because I was interested in him. It was only on the fourth time that I had the courage to ask for his number," Taehyung listens to him intently, trying to ignore the jealousy that is showing more and more with each passing second. "We started talking, and when I turned nineteen, we started dating. I won't go into too much detail, but it was the first person in my life that I had such feelings for. We were a couple for about four years. Then he disappeared." "Let me guess. He's somewhere on Earth and that's why you've been here for about three years?" Jungkook just nods to confirm his guess and continues on: "The last time he was seen, he ran to the place from where he was being sent to Earth. As it turned out, my father forced him to do it. I've been looking for him all this time. I just don't know if I need it now." Taehyung doesn't reply, but sets the mug aside and quickly moves closer to the demon, his lips touching the Jeon's, feeling the warmth and taste of the recent sip of coffee. Jungkook pulls him closer and sets the empty mug on the floor with a loud clatter causing Orpheus to grumble. Deepen the kiss, weaving his fingers into the Jeon's soft hair. Kim kisses him greedily, not hiding her jealousy that had formed during the story, and the demon only smiles with one corner of his lips as the angel insistently pushes his tongue into the Jungkook's mouth. Taehyung sits on the his man's lap feeling large palms encircle his buttocks and squeeze them making the angel moan into the man's mouth. Kim slides his hand down to Jeon's homemade pants, feeling the demon's arousal, who throws his head back in pleasure as the angel squeezes the organ. Their pleasure is interrupted by the doorbell ringing loudly throughout the apartment, causing Orpheus to jump up from his seat and bark. Jungkook draws in air in frustration and waits for an equally frustrated Taehyung to get off his lap. The demon makes his way to the front door tripping over the dog who is already on alert and following his master. Jeon opens the door peephole and stares through it, then immediately closes it, whispering only a quiet "fuck." "Hello, degenerates," Yoongi enters Jungkook's apartment as if it were his own immediately taking off his street shoes and getting a slap on the head from Hoseok, who looks at him with displeasure. "Oh fuck! For what?" "I guess we still interrupted you," Hoseok says, looking at the disheveled Taehyung who came out, who, as soon as he heard a familiar voice, immediately jumped from his seat. "I told you they weren't doing puzzles," Yoongi slammed his fist into Jungkook's shoulder greeting him that way and then walked over to Kim immediately wrapping him in a tight hug. All the while Orpheus was whimpering and squealing underfoot happy to have guests he hadn't seen in a long time. "Well, hello." Min and Kim leave the demons who engrossed in each other's conversation go to the kitchen to talk quietly about what's been going on, and wait for the kitchen door to slam so they can open the wine that Yoongi brought, which he bought in secret from Hoseok. "If Jung, my man, shows up abruptly, it's your glass," he pours the wine, pointing to his glass, immediately warning Taehyung that, for the moment, he's not allowed alcohol and his boyfriend is watching closely." "How am I going to explain to mine that I'm drinking two glasses of wine and I'm fine?" "You'll figure it out as you go," Yoongi stops pouring wine and corks the bottle. But the realization of another's words comes a little later, so the angel freezes with the bottle in his hands. "What does "to mine" mean?" You're having an affair with each other?" Min after Taehyung nods jumps up from his seat and happily runs over to the dog, who's lying there upset because he's not being paid attention to at all and nuzzles his belly. Angel after petting Orpheus runs over to Kim who is sitting there with a full-mouth smile and hugs him genuinely happy about the event. "I thought you were just kissing there. Purely as a friend, you know." Taehyung laughs as he watches the angel slump happily on the couch staring up at the ceiling. Kim crawls over to him snuggling up next to him even though he's afraid he'll push him away because he's getting close so quickly, but all worry is for nothing, because Yoongi throws his arm around Kim and rests his head on the other's. Neither of them care that they were able to start bonding so quickly and even closer than they should have been. And there's such peace of mind. "I'm really glad Jungkook was able to be with someone. I don't know how you were able to do it, but before he used to bounce away from anyone who tried to offer him a relationship in any way. All this time he was alone. Loyal to him and no one else. Something must have cracked inside. Thank you, Taehyung, for helping him make the first move." "I don't know what I did. Maybe, as they say, my pretty face solved everything." "Many have a pretty face, as you say. But, believe me, none of them had as much influence on him as you did." Angel only continues to remain silent as he listens to Yoongi's words. What is it about him that made him able to help Jungkook break away from his past? He's very interested in that question, because he doesn't recognize his own importance in the process. He puts it aside for a bit because right now he's enjoying this moment, the happiness in this second. He's finally at peace with his soul, even though there was a storm inside a couple hours ago. Taehyung really hopes it lasts. "What if he does manage to find it? Who will I be at this moment?" the angel did not notice how nervous he became because of such thoughts. But this is normal in such a situation. Everything needs to be taken into account. "He'll say, 'Bye, angel. It was nice talking to you"? "Don't think about it, Taehyung." "That's easy to say, Yoongi. I can't even imagine what would happen if he showed up one day. I have a feeling he will. What will Jungkook do? He's going to have to choose between someone he's been dating for years, someone who's been his whole life, or someone he's had sex with twice. The choice is obvious," Kim hid her face in her hands holding back the urge to cry right there from not knowing. "Don't decide for me," the demons, who had been standing in the room where the angels were lying entered the room eavesdropping on their conversation of late. Taehyung twitches startled by the sudden appearance of Jungkook and Hoseok. The former is unhappy with the topic of their conversation, while the latter notices the second glass and curses at Yoongi, who leans closer to Kim and stares at the demon like a misbehaving kitten. Demon doesn't know how to fight angel's mania for an evening drink anymore. God forbid it be one or two and not a bottle or two. Jungkook only pats him on the shoulder encouragingly wanting to find a solution to the situation as soon as possible catching the tired expression on demon's face with his eyes. "Hose ok, how did you two meet?" Angel decides to change the subject, feeling awkward at the atmosphere they are in. "We went to the same school. There was no sympathy, only hatred. We bullied each other every chance we got. We went to volleyball together, and Yoongi was on my team. Even so, we didn't find a common language even though we were always side by side. It all started when a volleyball that was thrown with decent force flew into Yoongi's head. He immediately lost consciousness, and I being the captain was really scared. And then I went to his house with fruit although he was given one day to recover because of his rapid regeneration but I went for a week." "I was just taking a break from his incessant brainwashing," Yoongi added, squeezing his own hand in hers and leaning back against Hoseok's chest. During the demon's story they quickly changed their positions with Taehyung nestled comfortably in Jungkook's arms and Yoongi in Hoseok's. "Then somehow everything spun and spun. Surprisingly, I was the first to let my feelings be known, and Yoongi immediately replied, which I did not expect from the word at all" all this time Taehyung was looking at Jung's face with a slight smile, on which all the love, affection, tenderness towards Min was expressed. They'll kill for each other if anything happens. This is called their special love. The time they spent together passed unnoticed. After ordering food and sitting down to eat they had a discussion and touched on various topics. Jungkook and Hoseok even had a chance to argue and fight while the angels waited for the misunderstanding to stop. Then Yoongi and Taehyung had time to argue where each fiercely defended his point of view not wanting to be outdone. But then all arguments came to nothing, because the realization that shouting would not achieve anything, but would only aggravate the situation, hit them sharply in the head. Kim looks around happily at everyone present and realizes that he is ready to experience such happiness every day. Such moments are more precious than all the diamonds in the whole dimension. It will be very painful to part with them. He feels Jungkook's arm tighten around his waist and pulls him closer. The demon only tells himself that it is right to be happy. The past must remain the past and it exists only when we pay attention to it and give it significance. And let them shout at him somewhere in the back of his mind that this should not be the case, and somewhere there is someone who has been his life for several years, someone he loves. But it's not him that Jungkook loves right now, it's the one who is now turning around and pecking his cheek. The demon wants to be happy. And he's been given the opportunity to be. Jeon wishes him a better life and apologizes that nothing will ever happen between them again. Still, they promised each other a couple years ago to be happy under any circumstances, and the demon is finally starting to fulfill his promise. It seems that with each passing second the dependence on him is disappearing more and more. While everyone is laughing at Hoseok's joke, probably the twentieth in the time they've spent together, Orpheus abruptly jumps up and runs to the door, growling unhappily as if there's someone behind it. The angels look amongst themselves as the demons get up from their seats having no idea who might be there and approach the peephole to see. Someone continues to bang on the door until Hoseok looks at the one whose presence has caused immense surprise. The demon looks at Jungkook, his eyes showing his ignorance of what to do in this situation. "Why are you here, Jimin?" Jeon opens the door looking at the drenched demon who is shivering from the cold, but tries not to show it only hugging himself. "Will you let me in?" Hoseok looks at Park with distrust, watching his every movement in combat readiness, trying to find some kind of trick, because he could not just come like that. Jungkook reluctantly lets the demon into his apartment and waits for him to remove his shoes, which are soaked with moisture from top to bottom. The two of them escort him to the hall where the angels are standing looking warily at Jimin who raises his two hands up showing his unarmed and powerlessness. The demon lowers his gaze to Taehyung's palms, on which two sparkling white orbs have formed, trying not to betray his surprise and the fear that came at the sight of an angry angel whose powers are far greater than the all of them combined. Kim shows his power for the first time in front of Park who previously had only ever tried to summon these abilities in confirmation that the latter was not at all the High Angel as he was originally told. He needed to see that Taehyung is a prophet in order to report it to the executioner who is waiting for the right moment. But that was not what he had come for now. "What purpose do you serve, demon?" Yoongi spits out, glaring in disgust at Jimin, who is watching him from under his rain-wet hair. No one has any trust in him right now, and Park realizes it, seeing how aggressive all four of them are. "I need your help," he says flatly, pushing his shame to a distant shelf. They're really the only ones who can help him. "You can walk right out of here with that one, Jimin. We're not in a relationship to bail you out," Jungkook answers him rudely, coming closer and closer to him with his arms folded across his chest. Jeon's eyes are filled with anger, resentment, and incomprehension, while Park's eyes are tired and pleading, which Jungkook recognizes as soon as he meets his gaze. "I'll help you, but you'll help me in return." "You're not someone I can trust, Jimin," Taehyung said through clenched teeth, his eyes flashing back to the time he had been beaten by him. "At least listen to me. Believe it or not, it's up to you," Park tucked his hands in his pockets, looking at Hoseok, who had his hand on Jeon's broad shoulder, urging the demon to at least let him speak, even if it was just another plan. "Taehyung is in danger." "I'm not surprised," Kim snaps back, immediately catching the warning glances of Hoseok, who wants to hear Park speak. He'd had a hard time convincing Jeon, and he didn't want to have to do it all over again. "Alastair and his disciples have arrived on Earth to personally find Taehyung. They don't want to delay because they fear he's developing powers and it will cost him nothing but to kill them all. Jungkook, the executioner has plans for you and your family, and he's very hostile. He's literally lost his mind and he's thinking of starting a war." "Again, why should we believe you?" Jungkook continues to examine him from top to bottom with a skeptical look, hardly believing his words. "You're all in danger. The innocent ones too. You need to stop him before he goes too far," the sparkling orbs disappear from Taehyung's hands, making the tension that Jimin had soaked up disappear. "I've told you everything I know." "Why did you betray your team?" Kim stands close to Park meeting the eyes opposite in which, to his surprise, there is no rage and desire to kill him. "It doesn't matter anymore. Now I have a favor to ask. Bring Namjoon over and let me talk to him," Jimin said the last sentence quickly trying to make it slurred but it didn't work, causing him to immediately meet the surprised looks directed at him. "No, Jimin. Don't even think about it," Taehyung didn't like the idea. It could be a fucking trap and he's not about to drag his friend into it. "I'm not gonna let him come near you. You're inadequate, okay?" "I'm not going to make excuses for myself and say I'm not what I used to be. But I'm doing this for him. Fuck, I've done some shit and I want to make it right. I'm begging you, don't take this little hope away from me," Jimin shivers at the way everyone here is looking at him. All these years he hadn't been living, but surviving. Park gave him everything, and Namjoon left and, previously taken from his boyfriend, threw away. And he can't just lose his last chance, even though he's fallen to rock bottom in his eyes. There's still a little hope inside. "You can kill me afterward, but let me just talk to him." The demon looks now like a beaten and abandoned puppy that has been disposed of cruelly and without mercy. There are tears in his eyes that are about to burst out, showing his weakness to everyone. And so it is, Namjoon is his weakness. He can be easily broken. And their meeting years later was the worst and most painful. The way his beloved looked at him with those eyes scratched him inside and out. All that pain pierced through his body, scarred both his heart and soul. No one saw, but at that moment, Jimin died from blood loss due to the cuts that Namjoon's gaze and coldness had left. When everyone had gone and Taehyung had surrendered to Jungkook, who had begged him to stay the night for about an hour, he lay in bed in his man's arms, thinking about why he had agreed to help Jimin when he had beaten the living hell out of him. Kim should have refused, reminding him of all the hurt and pain he'd suffered, but then he'd just looked into Jeon's eyes, which were seething with confusion, and decided for himself. And Jungkook had known from the beginning that Taehyung would agree. He could just feel it. He would help Jimin, and he couldn't even explain why.
