Chapter 11

Settings
Taehyung lies in the warm bed, which has been heated all night by the angel's hot body, and stares blankly at the burning screen of his phone, where a messenger is open with an empty dialog with Yoongi, who is currently online. For about fifteen minutes Kim just stares mindlessly at a profile picture of Hoseok hugging him from the back against some sea. They're beautiful. There's an "online" status painted next to it, as if it's screaming at Kim to get his act together and write to him. He doubts it's a good prospect. He's afraid of being pushy, boring, and unable to maintain a dialog. In addition to the doubts plaguing him right now, he is plagued by a throat that gives him a nasty pain every time he swallows saliva. He'd hate to get sick. It wasn't a good time. Taehyung taps the screen and the keyboard pops up to him, and more and more unnecessary thoughts pop into his head. The only thing that calms him down is the fact that Yoongi took his number first. Maybe he's already changed his mind...? Kim feels like howling from the ripping emotions. old grump how long are you going to pull the cat by the tail? Kim jumped in surprise when he saw an incoming message from another angel. He first looks at his nickname, and then at the text itself, which served as the beginning of their dialogue. He was supposed to start the conversation, but because of his indecision, he almost chickened out.

the son of that friend

cool name:)

old grump I know, I came up with it myself. You've got a good one too. I think we'll find common ground. But if I constantly start a dialogue myself and get everything out of you, then I'll say from the start that you're going to fuck off.

the son of that friend

very friendly. Well, what are you doing?

old grump I'm waiting for Hoseok to wake up. Yesterday, Jungkook came in and started crying into his pillow. Well, I'm exaggerating, of course, but what were they discussing there. And they drank. I heard your name during their conversation. Kim's gaze leaves the phone and wanders off to the side, analyzing Yoongi's words. As much as he didn't want to admit it and accept it, he was really upset that at some point his back stopped being warmed by the hot body of the demon, who left after the angel fell asleep. He slept on, as expected, rather poorly. He was constantly tossing and turning, going to the toilet, and only closer to five in the morning did he manage to take a nap for an hour or two.

the son of that friend

he got drunk?

old grump No, I just had a little sip. but there was some really serious, top-level conversation. Why do you ask? Are you worried? Are you in love?

the son of that friend

No. You're talking nonsense

old grump Yes, yes, do you think I'm dumb, deaf and blind? I can see that something is going on between you. but you should know in short that he's not a bad guy. He's a good guy. He's just got his own issues, inner pain that he's been trying to heal and work through for a year. But I know you care about him. I'll bet on Hoseok's balls. Taehyung laughs briefly as he reads the last sentence, noting that Yoongi's humor is similar to his. He's sure their friendship could be one of the strongest and most unbreakable ever. It's impossible not to ponder Min's words: there's definitely something going on between them, but he can't even put a name to it. He appeared from somewhere, started hanging around with him, took care of him, then slept with him, dumped him, tried to make it up to him, now he's taking care of him again. What is this and how should he react? He definitely doesn't like that kind of instability, where one day it's "I love you" and the next day it's "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." Kim needs a strong, healthy relationship. He needs a man, not a boy.

the son of that friend

maybe you're right...

old grump Of course I'm right. I'm always right. He was prevented from writing a reply to the angel by the unexpected task, which instantly turned his attention to himself, taking it away from Yoongi. Kim immediately began to read it, jumping out of bed and getting ready. As it seemed to him, he had been without assignments for quite some time, and they had stopped coming when he needed time for his own affairs. And that was suspicious. Name: Joy Age: 21 years old Current feelings: calm, joy, inner euphoria Location: Hospital "******"

the son of that friend

I'll write to you later. Important things have appeared:(

old grump okaaay Taehyung smiles slightly, locks the phone, throws it somewhere on the bed and goes to the closet to choose his clothes for the upcoming day. Because of his reluctance to take a heavy bag of things to Earth, which still has to be dragged to the hotel and then back home, he preferred to take the most necessary clothes that he can combine with other things. The choice fell on a satin white blouse with the addition of a drop of beige, which will be unbuttoned with two upper buttons, and the same satin, but black loose trousers that will go well with patent leather shoes. Completing the image with a silver chain and light styling, and looking at himself in the mirror, noting that he looks very good, he leaves the room, having previously locked it with a key. Before he leaves, he is called by the guy at the front desk, who he has already memorized and gotten used to. He is very nice, very polite and sweet, so when he is done with all his business, he will buy him a small gift or tip him for his hard work. "Mr. Kim, we have construction work going on today, so we won't be able to let anyone in after ten o'clock tonight, so please be kind enough to be on time or find a temporary place to sleep if you don't make it," he goes through some papers, occasionally glancing at him, alerting him to important information, and smiling sweetly at the end. "Understood, thank you," Taehyung walks out of the hotel, greeted by warm sunshine and beautiful weather. The weather is great, though the breeze occasionally tickles his delicate skin, making it goosebumps. If time had not curtailed his options, he would gladly walk to his desired destination, but since he cannot afford such a luxury, the only option remains a cab. His persona would fit the ambassador of this mode of transportation. He has a great mood, which is sometimes overridden by excitement and apprehension, but he still tries to keep his spirits up. Even when the driver gets indignant because Taehyung asks for the windows to be opened, so that the wind tickles his face already, blowing him from all sides. In moments like these, the angel catches the moment and enjoys life. He gets to the hospital quickly, saying goodbye to the still disgruntled driver and slamming the door loudly, hoping his ass will explode with anger. As he passes the patients strolling through the grounds, he wishes to himself for their speedy recovery, that all illnesses would bypass them. And Taehyung's preferably too, because a cough rips up his throat, drawing the attention of the people passing by. He takes his elbow away from his face and continues pacing further, trying to find an entrance. Kim has never liked being around the sick, seeing the hope in their eyes, seeing the hope that life will walk with them holding tightly to their hands. And still seeing the hope when they are told they have no chance. And even as he escorts them to a peaceful place after they have left their world, he looks into their eyes and sees that hope. It is with them to the end. Taehyung breathes in a full breath and goes inside, immediately saying hello to the employees of the place. Kim decides to look around inside for clues and some girl he has to save the life of. Maybe she's a nurse, orderly, or doctor. They're easier to find than patients who can be discharged in five minutes. The nurse's station greets him with police officers, which gives Taehyung a very bad feeling. Walking a little farther and trying to see a little more, the angel catches a glimpse of a familiar back and almost immediately rolls her eyes. Jungkook is talking to one of the workers and writing something down in his notebook, gesturing with a pen. He pushes his tongue into his cheek, showing his displeasure, approaches the demon and catches his gaze, which is immediately cheerful. "My partner just arrived," Jungkook puts his arm around his shoulders and looks at him, waiting for confirmation of his earlier words. Taehyung just nods his head, agreeing with all his words. "Thank you for your time, have a nice day." The demon turns him around and leads him away from the workers, still holding him by the shoulders. They move away from the crowd, closer to the evacuation exit, where there will be fewer people and more oxygen, and stop. "What are you doing here?" Taehyung asked, clearly dissatisfied with his presence here. Kim was about to ask something, but he was prevented from doing so by a cough that cut unpleasantly into the walls of his throat, making the angel feel unnecessary pain. "Are you sick?" Jungkook looks at him worriedly as he sees Kim bending over with a cough. "I don't know. Maybe I have a cold or a sore throat, but whatever," Taehyung stops coughing and turns his gaze to Jeon, who continues to look at him with concern in his eyes. "Why are you here?" "For the same reason you did." "How did you know I'd be here?" "Secret," Jungkook says with amusement in his voice and winks, immediately seeing the stupor on the angel's face. "I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with my assignment," Kim whispers, hiding her face in her hands tiredly. "What do you got there?" "About five bodies have turned up in the last two days. There's nothing similar between them. I don't think it's a serial killer," Jeon looked away, remembering the details. "We have to consider the possibility that it could be some kind of creature from Hell. Because I was confused by the fact that all the victims didn't have kidneys." "Are you saying they were killed and then their kidneys were taken away?" Taehyung is already sick of just thinking about such a thing. "Yes, but they strangled them first. It's disgusting to the point of horror." Kim shudders as she imagines this picture of people having one of the most important organs of life taken away from them. One minute there is life, and the next minute this opportunity to enjoy the moments is taken away from you. He suggests going to the head doctor to find out about the possibility of examining the bodies. The description about the kidneys being taken from the victims reminds him of something he might have read in books. It's on his mind, but he can't remember. They take a quick step to the man in the white coat that Jungkook had spotted earlier and ask, turning his attention back to themselves: "Hello, we're from the FBI,” Jungkook and Taehyung hold out their fake IDs for the doctor to examine. "Can we examine the bodies of the deceased?" "What kind of dead people are you talking about? We have different cases,” the man put a folder under his armpit and looked at the demon and the angel, who looked at each other. "Those without kidneys,” Taehyung added, trying to suppress the ugly images that popped up in his head. "Let's go,” the doctor turns around and instructs them to follow him to their destination. With quick strides, walking behind the doctor, they reach the area where the bodies they were to examine were hidden. The room itself turned out to be slightly chilly, so the chill crept underneath Taehyung's satin shirt for the entire stay, causing him to shiver. The man held out gloves for them to loosely touch the bodies. After waiting for the young men to put on the gloves, the doctor opens one of the compartments and takes out a body covered in a white cloth. Kim, to be honest, is not ready for what is about to open up in front of him, so he is already preparing himself to prevent vomiting. The doctor opens the tissue, providing them with a pale body with a hole in the area above the waist, which has been washed of blood and dirt. There was a blue stripe on his neck, which was left after strangulation with some kind of object. Jungkook runs his eyes over the body and sees worn nails and phalanges: apparently, the victim was dragged along the ground, and she resisted. All the skin on the legs is scratched, almost without a living place. "The kidneys were taken from everyone in different ways," the doctor moves away from the first corpse and approaches the second. "They made a hole through him, and they just took him through his back, made a hole under his shoulder blade." The man turns the victim on his side and shows them his injured back, but only Jungkook is looking at it, while Taehyung looks away and stares at the wall. He can't look at the unfolding picture because he'll have to be pumped out. The second victim is hidden, and the demon turns his attention back to the body in front of him. He stares at it for a couple seconds and slips his hand through the resulting hole, hoping that the killer might have left his fingernails or some evidence there. Jeon rummages through the victim's body with squelching sounds, causing Kim to gag, who later covers his ears altogether. "Where was the last body found?" The demon takes off his bloody gloves, finding nothing there, grabbing someone else's, and walks over to the trash can, throwing them away. "There's a gas station not far from here, they found a body there." They shake his hands and thank him for his help, leaving the room that will forever be remembered as one of the nastiest places in Taehyung's mind. The angel and demon pass the nurse's station and walk down the hallway to the exit to go outside. They don't say anything, just walk side by side, trying to get to the scene as quickly as possible. Except Kim remains standing still, glancing past them at a girl who is carrying someone in a wheelchair. Her nametag had “Joy” printed on it. He calls softly to Jungkook, who hasn't noticed that he's moved away from the angel, and waits for him to come to him. "This girl...” Taehyung turns around to the demon and looks him in the eyes, not trying to hide the worry and fear. "Got it. We'll be careful,” Kim just shakes her head, looking after the nurse, who turns and disappears from view after a few seconds. They walk finally out of the building and, changing a quick step into a sprint, reach the gas station, where only a couple of cars are parked, filling up their tank to continue their journey. There are empty canisters lying around and the smell of gasoline wafts around, making Angel cringe at the scent hitting his nose. Also, much of the area is banded with tape, blocking the path of ordinary people. There are still police officers stomping around the site, trying to solve the case and the motive for the crime. They, as usual, show their credentials and start looking at the place. Taehyung and Jungkook split up, leaving each other for faster work, and it's better that they stomp on each other's feet and get angry, wasting time. Kim first looks through a small shop next to the gas station, looking into all the places: going through the shelves, freezer, cabinets, hoping to see something there, but all to no avail. He even tilted the trash can at the entrance, emptying out all the contents, but as expected, there was nothing there. Next, he checked the toilets, still hoping for the best, but, unfortunately, unsuccessfully. One of the employees offers to help him, but he politely refuses, watching someone else's sad face. Jungkook is looking around outside at this time. The bastard chose a very good place to kill and mutilate someone else's body according to the staff, because even the cameras couldn't pick up any movement. Later, the cameras cut out altogether, taking away the staff's ability to investigate and find the culprit. Chon really dislikes the fact that there is a forest next to the gas station, which itself is large and deep. Looking through one for anything makes no sense. This must be done together with a team of people who can scour a fairly large area of the forest. This creature came up with a good idea: it's very easy to escape and hide in this forest. If it's not a psycho-human, but some kind of entity, and the demon is somehow sure that it is, he'd be helped by hellhounds, who would find evidence in seconds, indicating that some creature had a hand in this. But he doesn't think people would jump for joy and cheer for the bloodthirsty dogs. The demon looks at Taehyung and the workers, who continue to search, and he briefly decides to go into the woods, having a hunch that there might be something there. For some reason he's sure that there might be something here, so he strides confidently down the path, moving farther and farther away from the gas station. Even though it's daytime and visibility is great, the demon is still afraid of sounds, whether it's a branch, the rustling of leaves, or just the wind. Walking a little further, he feels the silence of the forest pressing on his ears. Jungkook tries to look around carefully, turning his head left and right, not wanting to miss anything. After all, a mistake is costly. His heart almost seems to freeze with fear when something in a nearby bush begins to move and growl. And the closer he gets, the louder the sounds get. He's not afraid of being hurt, killed, or torn apart. He doesn't like to be startled by anything. And he kind of understands Taehyung, who hates it when someone shows up abruptly. It makes his heart skip a beat. The sound grows louder and louder, forcing Jeon into a stance to meet that “sound” ready to attack. If there was a long stick or branch lying around, he'd throw it at the bush so that something would come running out of it, ending the demon's torment at not knowing what might be there. "A ball of fur,” Jungkook almost gave his soul away. A dog that had gotten tangled in the thorny branches of a bush ran out in something wet and slimy, whimpering because of an injured paw. She jerked and startled when she saw the demon, causing Jeon to jerk in surprise as well. "I was scared myself." The dog runs away from him as soon as it disentangles itself, leaving him all alone. He exhales through his mouth and walks closer to the bush. As he pushes the leaves and branches apart, he feels his hands find themselves covered in the same slime that the dog had earlier. Despite the discomfort of this sensation, he pushes it apart even more and sees the cause of this nastiness on his hands. In the middle of the bush lies a huge lump of whitish slime mixed with some hair. He touches the stuff with his finger and immediately removes it, cringing because of how nasty it looks and feels. It's definitely related to the case. Jungkook is sure of it. With dirty fingers, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number he'd only recently learned. The screen didn't listen because of his fingers, which were stained with the stuff, turning on third-party programs and pissing the demon off. "Taehyung?" Jungkook asks, fighting the urge to wipe this slime on his pants. "Jungkook? How did you get my number?" the angel was slightly taken aback, at first not believing the familiar voice. "It doesn't matter. Can you come to the woods near the gas station? There's a path. Go about 200 meters straight ahead and you'll see me." "I got it. You got something?" the demon hears the angel saying goodbye and the wind blowing his speakers. "Yeah. Get some tissues and water." "Wait for me." Angel drops the call, taking with him the opportunity to answer him. The demon continues to stand silently, leaning on one leg and feeling the not-so-nice sensation of slime on his hands. He had no idea what it was or how to deal with it, but he feels that this isn't just any ordinary demon from Hell. His face right now expresses dislike and disgust. A few minutes later, he sees Taehyung running towards him in the distance, holding the items needed more than ever to help him with the problem. When the angel comes running over and notices some slime on Jeon's hands, his face unconsciously betrays disgust. The demon, without saying anything, beckons him over with his hand and opens the bush, revealing a view of the contents inside. "Ew,” is all Taehyung says, not wanting to even get close, much less touch the thing. "I'm of the same opinion,” Jungkook agrees, immediately asking the angel to open the water and pour it on his hands to wash it all off his hands. He quickly wipes his hands after successfully removing the slime from his skin and suggests that Taehyung move back out to look something up in books or on the internet. Leaving the unfortunate bush behind, they walk back to the gas station to call a cab to the nearest library, where they can find the answers they need. They walk in silence, because no one knows where to start any conversation, even though the atmosphere is not saturated with awkwardness, they still wanted to brighten up the silence. Taehyung himself is confused and doesn't know if it's right to ask what he wants to know, but he can't go without answers. "Why did you leave that night?" Kim asks softly, immediately raising her head and looking straight ahead. "Because I promised I'd leave when you fell asleep,” Jungkook turns his head to him and tries to catch his gaze. "You wanted me to stay?" Angel doesn't know what to say to him. Yes, he wanted to. Would he really say this information so lightly and easily? No point in hiding it, either. "Yes, I wanted to," Taehyung tells him, turning around for a second, and then, quickly shuffling his feet, tries to get away from the demon, who is trying to hide a smile. Jeon allows himself to stop for a moment to stop rejoicing at his words, afraid of his own reaction. He's been terribly confused lately. Something in the past, or even someone, does not allow the angel to become a part of himself and his life. He himself, bending under the influence of the past, cannot afford such a luxury in the form of feelings for him. It is stupid and pointless to deny the sympathy that has arisen for Kim. And he's afraid of those feelings. He is afraid that he will betray someone, considering it treason and questioning their entire history. Three years of loyalty and search have cracked. The demon caught up with the angel who had left him, and together they reached the gas station, where they hailed a cab to the nearest library. Jungkook was used to Earth and its peculiarities, to the inhabitants and their thinking, to everything practically. He never thought this planet would feel more native to him than the planet he was born on. Cabs, grocery stores, houses, roads, people, nature: it was all familiar and something his soul had grown attached to And he questions the possibility of returning to his homeland, which will certainly anger his father once he lets him know about it. But now the demon is ready to spend his life on Earth. He will build his own house, find the one he lost three years ago and continue to live with him, get another dog, and try not to remember the angel, who was able to evoke feelings after a long time. But something in his heart tells him that the last one won't work. The car stops next to a large building, which was the library they needed. They jumped out of the cab and said goodbye to the driver, slamming the door shut. The entrance to the building turned out to be paid, but it was a penny, which the angel was very surprised about, because on his planet the entrance to the library cost as much as a kidney. This place, as expected, turned out to be without fussy people. Everyone is quietly going about their business, immersed in books or laptops, with only the occasional sound of keys and pages. They take a table near the window, which seemed the most comfortable they had ever had, and decide what they would need to find out about what they had recently found. Taehyung opts to borrow the only remaining laptop, which is provided by the library for a short time. Jungkook, on the other hand, goes off to look for useful books. Once they take their seats, they start reading the vast amount of information that the internet and the books themselves give them. They pretend so diligently that they don't feel every glance they throw at each other. The demon writes something down on a found sheet and checks it against past entries, finding them contradictory. Taehyung opens each article and reads it all, afraid to miss important details. The hour and a half has flown by unnoticed and continues to flow on. Even though their backs are stiff and their limbs are already aching, Jungkook and Taehyung keep looking. They would take a break for coffee and tea, but people's lives are on the line, so minutes count. Immersed in the process so much, they didn't notice at first when a man approached them and placed some kind of book next to them. "Shut your mouths,” Jimin shuts them up as the two of them jump up from their chairs, ready to start arguing. "I'm not doing this for you." "Is this your way of making it up to Namjoon?" The demon smirked, sitting back down in his chair. "Cover your mouth, I won't look at the fact that there is a library here and I will arrange a massacre," Jimin's eyes are clouded with anger and sadness at the same time. He is really doing this for Namjoon, whom he could not find for more than a year and a half. He nudges the book even closer to them and turns around, leaving behind a pressurized atmosphere. The demon gets up from his seat and picks up a chair to sit next to Kim, who has already started looking at the book Jimin brought in his hands. Placing it in the middle, they begin to leaf through and flip through the pages, reading the contents. The book turned out to be quite voluminous, so they had to spend some more time. "Read it,” Taehyung poked his finger at the beginning of the paragraph. "Shifters, or shapeshifters. They are creatures that can take on any form they see. They can transform at any time of day or night. They feed on human organs. When they take on another form, they shed their previous form in the form of a whitish colored slime. They can only be killed with silver and only either in the heart or head. You can recognize them with night vision cameras - their eyes glow." "That thing,” Jungkook said, surprised at what was in their way. "It's going to be a lot of work." "I don't even want to think about it." "Do you have that camera on your phone?" Jungkook slams the textbook shut and stands up from the table, pushing his chair right back. "Night vision?" The demon nods, and Taehyung pulls out his phone to check if the smartphone has that feature. "No, I can't find it." Jeon exhales unhappily, pulling out his phone and immediately opening the camera settings, pretending he didn't know it had that feature. The thing is, he hates it to the core when his things are touched - especially his phone, which even though it contains a lot of information and memories, it's still not the main reason. Even though his phone is locked and password protected - it still makes him terribly uncomfortable. He doesn't let anyone touch his phone, not even him. He's just not comfortable with it. "Let's go to the hospital, we'll deal with it there."

***

The hospital is a bustling place: the chief physicians and superintendents are going back and forth, cooks are delivering food to the patients, nurses are checking each room and injecting painkillers into some patients. It is getting close to lunchtime, so they have to be very quiet so as not to make the patients uncomfortable. Of the police officers, only one or two people are left not counting them. "Here,” Jungkook held out his cell phone to him, as if pulling himself away and out of his comfort zone. "Turn on the camera and take pictures discreetly. As soon as you notice something, tell me." Taehyung takes the phone and nods, immediately opening the camera and starting to take pictures of everything around. In the distance, they notice the doctor who had previously allowed them to see the corpses, so they moved from their place and flew up to him with a quick step so as not to miss him and the opportunity to talk. And Jungkook now blames himself for not feeling any anxiety and worries because he gave his phone to an angel who is too cute trying to take pictures of everyone unnoticed while looking at the camera. He doesn't understand himself. "Can we take another look at the bodies?" Jungkook calls the doctor's attention to himself, getting permission almost immediately. They thank him and go to the right place, where they had been before. Taehyung thought he'd never go back there again, but apparently he's being made fun of. Angel reports that he hasn't seen any people with glowing eyes yet, and ahead of the demon's question, he says that the doctor has been cleared of suspicion as well. The room still greets them with a chilly temperature. Without ceremony, they slide out the body they saw last time and remove the cloth. The body with the hole in its chest still continues to lie there, unchanged. Taehyung points the camera at the body and shoots, thinking they might see something through the camera since they couldn't get a glimpse of anything without it. He walks around the body, continuing to film until he notices some sort of light glow, at first thinking it's some sort of glare. Kim beckons to the demon, who immediately runs up to him and over his shoulder, breathing in his ear, looks into the screen, noticing that there is indeed something there. "Maybe it's saliva, but I don't see any gloves here, so I'm not going to get in there,” Jungkook covers his body with the cloth and slides in, finally leaving the one alone. "I want to go to the bathroom, so let's go there first and then we'll continue. I can't stand it anymore,” the demon only chuckles slightly from the way Kim quickly walks out of the place and turns his head to find a sign directing and showing him where the restroom is. He follows him slowly, not noticing that he took his phone with him. Apparently, he's not that uncomfortable with giving his phone to someone. But only if that someone is Taehyung. Not ashamed to admit it. He reaches the restroom door and leans against the wall, accepting to wait for the angel to do all his important business and let them continue on to look for some leads. Jungkook throws back his head and hums something to himself until a frightened, pale angel peeks out of the door and calls out to him, grabbing his hand without waiting for him to react. The demon runs into the restroom and goes into one of the stalls, where Taehyung leads him in and pokes his finger somewhere in the floor and then up. Looking up, he sees the exact same slime as the one he saw in the forest dripping out of the square vent pipes and falling to the floor. "He's recently taken on someone else's form,” Taehyung said with fear in his voice. "We must run and look for him." "We don't have anything silver or sharp that can kill him." Kim thinks for a few seconds and then says: "The next door is a storage room. Maybe it's where you keep unwanted scalpels or something sharp." They dash out of the restroom and go straight for the nearest door, hoping that the right things will be there. Because then they have nothing to kill this thing with and it will disappear, turning into anyone it sees. And then it would be almost impossible to track it down. Once inside and closing the doors behind them, they turn on the lights so they can see well and search faster and better. They go to different ends, the good of the small room, and start looking for something of silver. But they try to be careful, because there may be syringes and used needles from them, and they do not want to get bumped, as well as catch any disease. "Come here,” Jungkook calls to him and pulls him away from his search, holding out a metal container with a lid. "Open it." Taehyung lifts the lid in disbelief and immediately lets it go, grabbing his mouth with one hand and his stomach with the other. Nausea rose to his throat at what he saw. The container contained kidneys mixed with other organs, including a heart. "Are you sane?" Kim asked him, holding back a second gagging urge, noticing through his side-eye that the demon was laughing at him and putting the container back where it belonged. Apparently, this is where the shifter put the stolen organs. "How fucking funny." They continue searching until Jungkook finds two scalpels, signaling that they can move on. After they stop looking, they move forward to search further, exiting the storage room, turning off the lights and closing it as if no one was there. They pass this hallway with the restroom and other rooms, and are about to wrap up as they meet the doctor, who a couple minutes ago allowed them to re-examine the bodies. "What were you young men doing out there?" You can tell by the look on his face that he's angry and unhappy about what happened. "I didn't let you go in there." "We just got lost. We didn't remember the first time," Taehyung awkwardly rubs the back of his head and looks at Jungkook, who doesn't know what to come up with. "We found some kind of key in the toilet, and it was signed with your name. Where should we put it?" "I don't have time for your keys and so on. Come into my office and put them on my desk. Or give it to the nurse. Now, please get out of my way and let me get on with my work,” he didn't even look at Jeon and Kim at the last sentences, but simply walked around them and went somewhere else. Jungkook and Taehyung stare at him, looking at each other, and then decide to quickly go to the doctor's office and give him the key they supposedly found, and continue on with their business. Walking to the other end of the long hallway, they finally see the named office, which turns out to be unlocked. They freely enter the office, meeting the surprised looks of some of the nurses, and most interestingly, the doctor. Both of them stop breathing. Taehyung's trembling hands try to discreetly pull a cell phone out of his pocket to turn on the camera. "Have you looked over everything you needed?" asks the man at the table in a calm voice, having stopped drinking his tea. "Yes, yes, thank you very much. And after you met us, did you go straight to your office?" The demon asks the question, hoping the angel is getting a good shot. "Of course, these ladies were waiting for me inside,” the doctor runs his palm through the air, pointing at the girls who were holding mugs of boiling water. Kim touches Jeon's palm and whispers in his ear that his eyes didn't glow, and the girls' were also normal. So that doctor who met them when they came out of the storeroom was a shifter. They'd been very foolish. Forgot about the camera that would have helped them immediately recognize the creature that eats people's organs. They say goodbye to the people in the office and take off in the direction where they last saw the fake doctor. Running into the toilet and seeing no one there, they decided to open the door to the pantry in the hope that they would find him there, but there was no one there. They run out and continue their way down the long corridor, pulling at all the doors they came across, but none gave way. At the very end there were huge doors, which indicated that entry to outsiders was strictly prohibited. They run in there without hesitation, encountering only some shelves in three rows filled with papers and books, and where the freezer was located at the end. Jungkook and Taehyung try to walk quietly so as not to draw attention to themselves. Carefully walking past the rows, they notice someone standing and rummaging through those shelves of papers. The demon hides the angel behind his back, listening to the indignities whispered about him having enough power to defend himself, only to be answered by Jeon taking him even further away. They come closer and closer, and the sound becomes clearer and clearer. "Stop," a squeaky voice hit the ears of the two, making them grimace. "Who are you?" "And who are you?" Taehyung asks from behind Jeon. Due to the poor lighting, it is not possible to see the facial features well. "I'm-I'm Joy. I work here." Kim's heart seemed to clench at what he heard. Right now he's facing a girl whose life he's going to fight for, and she doesn't even realize that she could stop breathing at any second. He is afraid to make a mistake, afraid to lose, afraid to give her to death. And death will take her as soon as the stranger's heart stops beating. "She can't be a shifter?" Jeon turns to Taehyung standing behind him, suspicion in his voice as he asks the question. "I have no idea,” Kim hides her face in her hands, wishing this would end sooner. And preferably without something bad happening. He looks up and is startled when he sees a silhouette emerging from the darkness, followed by the celebrant himself. "Jungkook!" The demon reacted instantly, pulling out his hidden scalpels and aiming forward, not even knowing where anyone was standing. The alarmed voice of the angel was enough for him to realize that something was wrong. Finally, he spots a shifter walking, looming toward them with a satisfied smile. Jungkook doesn't hesitate to aim for the heart and immediately throws, swinging with all his might and hitting the sharp object right in the vital organ, but he throws the other one away, thinking he won't need it. The girl just stands there in shock, praying that she won't have a heart attack from what she saw. "What the hell is that,” Taehyung asks dully, seeing the shifter pull a knife from his body and toss it aside, shaking off his robe with a disgruntled look on his face. And then it comes to him. "Fuck, it's made of steel, not silver." Only they completely forgot to take into account that shifters can gain tremendous speed, so it wouldn't be hard for them to get to them in seconds, which is what he's doing now, swallowing a pale with fear Joy into his arms. "Kids, kids, you're playing with the wrong thing,” the man mutters in a nasty voice, biting the ear of the girl whose legs are barely holding her up anymore. "Give her to us,” Taehyung steps forward, throwing his gaze first at Joy and then at the creature. "Are you suggesting I go without lunch? It's been over a hundred years since my last meal. And you think I'm really going to turn down a tasty treat like this?" he ran his tongue along her cheek, making the girl feel nauseous, which she could barely suppress. They stare at each other in silence while Jungkook runs his eyes from one to the other, trying to find a way out of the situation. Nothing comes to mind, causing him to bite the inside of his cheek and bleed. Taehyung continues to argue with the shifter, buying him time. His gaze clings to the girl's pocket, in which something glistens. And the picture clears when Kim decides to take a step towards them, and the shifter yanks her back towards him, causing the scalpel handle to briefly fly into the air. "Taehyung, there might be a scalpel in her pocket,” Jungkook leaned close to him, whispering in his ear what he wanted to hear from the angel. "Try to get it with your mind. Telekinesis, like."How do you envision it? I've never tried it, and I don't know if I can do it,” the angel hissed venomously at him, keeping his eyes on the creature and the girl who was about to faint. "You're a prophet, Taehyung, and that's saying something." "It says nothing. We're taking a big risk." More than two are talking out loud,” the shifter intervenes in their conversation, continuing to walk its hands over the untouched body, making Joy feel disgusted. "Shut your mouth, scum,” Kim spits out those words as she watches the expression on the creature's face change. "Better let her go." Worry and fear have settled in Angel and are not about to go away. He falls silent, deciding to try his luck and do what Jeon has instructed him to do, hoping he won't let anyone down and the scalpel will come out of her pocket. Taehyung concentrates on that pocket, mentally begging to obey and help him in this current situation. He feels like he's putting his whole soul into this process while the demon is so diligently buying him time. Kim tries to tame the ability, as he has tamed others that have come to him almost effortlessly and without difficulty. Telekinesis continues to resist, making him quite nervous. Angel doesn't allow himself to give up, doesn't allow himself to lose to this creature so easily. The scalpel began to slowly make its way out of her robe pocket, almost making Taehyung howl with happiness. But the happiness didn't last long. He stops hearing Jungkook's voice, which was mixed in with that thing's voice. Angel looks up and sees a stranger's heart in the shifter's dirty hands. A girl's heart. "Took the tastiest one for myself,” he reached his hand through the hole he had made through his back, holding his heart tightly in his hands, and began sniffing and licking the organ, savoring the smell of blood. Kim wants nothing more. He just wants his heart to be taken away now, just like the girl who fell to the floor and gave no sign of life as she continued to bleed relentlessly. He doesn't have the strength anymore. Each time the will to live gets less and less, and now there is none at all. He doesn't notice as he begins to cry and scream, tearing his throat out. How the hysteria overwhelms him, not even allowing him to breathe. He doesn't feel Jungkook leaning against him and trying to warm him in his arms, whispering words of encouragement in his ear while the monster in the same place began its meal. Taehyung remembers the rage in his eyes, and how ruthlessly he ran up to the girl, wiping away the stinging tears and grabbing the scalpel from her pocket. He remembered how he had knocked the creature to the floor and started to perforate his body, making blood gush from all the holes he had made. Remembers counting ten stabs to the heart with the sharp object, and smashing the stranger's head, familiarizing it to the floor about twenty times. Remembers that horrible pain near his spine that burned out his insides, causing him to fall to his knees and then onto his back, agonizing over how painful the black star was manifesting. Will remember for the rest of his life that pain inside him from the realization that once again he had failed to save someone else's life, and let some bitch take it. Taehyung is in pain. Really, really, really hurt. He wants to go home. The last thing he remembers and sees before passing out is Jungkook, who, with trembling hands and a pounding heart, picked him up and carried him somewhere.

Angel had no idea how long he'd slept or how much time had passed since he'd passed out in the hospital. The headache plagued Kim mercilessly, making him cringe every time it throbbed unpleasantly. The events of the recent incident sobered him and he opened his eyes wide, freezing with his mouth open. Memories hit his head sharply, bringing not only physical pain, but mental pain as well. How long would he have to suffer before peace of mind finally came? It takes ten minutes for Taehyung to realize that he is not in his room, where he must get to before ten o'clock in the evening. And he doesn't have a backup option where he can stay. He hasn't come up with it yet. The room greets him with its austere interior in dark tones with muted light on the ceiling. The design and color palette are similar to those in Hoseok and Yoongi's house. Judging by the wide room, the leather corner sofa and the dark wide table, this is a hall in the apartment.. Next to it there are several pots with homemade palm trees, which fit very well into the atmosphere of this room. Tall panoramic windows allow him to see the city drowning in darkness, and only after a few seconds, approaching the wall-high glasses, he notices how the lights of the city sparkle brightly, causing admiration. Kim sits back down on the soft sofa, lowering her feet onto the fluffy white carpet, feeling the pleasant material even through her socks. "Are you awake?" Jungkook walks into the room with a towel hanging on his shoulder, wearing a regular wide white T-shirt and black sweatpants. "Do you want to eat?" "I can't understand it yet," the angel really doesn't feel hungry yet, so he doesn't refuse or agree. "Am I at your house?" "Yes, this is my apartment," the demon proudly inspects his creation, falling in love with the beauty of his native place again. Taehyung only now noticed that he was not wearing his usual shirt and pants that he had been wearing all day. He was wearing only a huge black T-shirt and matching flowing black shorts just above his knees. "Where are my things?" Kim wants to know so that he can change into them as soon as possible, because he feels a little uncomfortable. "I washed them. They were all covered in blood, and if it dries out too much, then you can't wash it off." "Do you even know at what temperature and mode to wash the atlas?" angel was really worried about his clothes, the material of which is quite capricious, and he does not want to say goodbye to such beauty so quickly. "I'm not three years old, angel. I have to know how to wash any clothes, because I live alone, and because it is, at least, a mandatory skill." "Thank you," Kim whispers, staring at the floor. He doesn't know what caused the smile he's trying so hard to hide. Maybe it's the fact that he lives alone, or maybe it's the fact that he took care of him again. He's going to get up to explore the apartment further, because he's interested in this room, and Jungkook doesn't mind letting Kim's curiosity and interest be satisfied. But the angel did not even take a step, as his stomach rumbled loudly. "Let's go get something to eat. You're eating carbonara, aren't you?" the demon hopes that he did not lose this choice, because it seems to be a basic dish, and some may not like it. "Of course," my stomach clenched and drooled so quickly because of one idea of delicious pasta. Taehyung doesn't know why, but he is sure that it will taste great. The demon smiled at him and threw a towel on the sofa, walking further into the kitchen, waiting for the angel to slowly approach him, looking around the apartment. Kim does not hide her surprise when she enters the kitchen, which is decorated in the same style as most of the apartment. In the kitchen, as well as in the hall, there are panoramic windows, which also offer a view of the amazing beauty of the evening city. Closer to the windows was a table made of black marble, against which four thin-legged chairs were leaning. The room was illuminated by a pleasant light that did not cut them when they looked up. All cabinets, shelves, countertop, refrigerator and other interior items were made in matte black. Kim loved dark colors, but he would hardly have been able to make the interior completely in this shade. But even though Jungkook's apartment was decorated like this, it still brought comfort and admiration. Even Yoongi and Hoseok's house was not as cozy as the place where he is now waiting for a delicious meal. Jeon puts a plate of awesome-smelling pasta in front of him, which steams hot, burning the chin of the angel, who bent down to sniff. The demon also sits down in front of him with his plate, instructing him to start eating. Not a word was said during the entire meal, everyone enjoyed the creamy taste of the sauce mixed with toasted bacon. Kim does not notice how the hot pasta burns his mouth, he is so happy with such delicious food. He's having a belly party today. He puts the cutlery aside and leans back in his chair, putting his hand on his full stomach. "Jungkook, you cook great," Taehyung says, watching as the demon finishes his portion and takes the empty plate from him. "Let me pay you, and you cook for me." The demon only laughs softly after hearing Taehyung's words, which warmed his soul. He washes the dishes while Kim slowly gets up from the table and goes somewhere, not feeling Jungkook's questioning gaze. After leaving the kitchen, he finds him coming out of the bathroom, where there was a dryer that had long ago got rid of excess moisture from his clothes. "Where are you going?" "Home, it's late. You've already sheltered me for a while, for which I'm very grateful." "I'm not letting you go anywhere at one o'clock in the morning." Kim froze in place as soon as he heard the time. It can't be that late. It seemed to him that it was nine or nine-thirty at the most, but not that time. This means that he will not be able to get to the hotel anymore, and he is afraid to go down to Hell to the Cabin boy at such a time, so the answers to all the questions that arise pop up in his head. He will have to stay with Jungkook. "I'll find a hotel nearby, mine's closed anyway," Kim says softly, snapping her fingers. "You're not going anywhere. How many times do I have to say it, angel?" The demon raises his upper eyebrow, looking at the quieted Kim. "I don't want to give you any trouble." "What kind of trouble? What are you talking about? Choose where you will sleep: my bedroom or in the living room on the couch." Kim stands and stares blankly at the floor, thinking about how good this idea is. On the one hand, this idea seems absolutely good: he will spend the night in a warm place, and not wander around hotels in search of free rooms, he will not be allowed to starve and be killed by someone. And on the other hand, this is Jungkook's apartment, which he feels sympathy for and because of which he talks to himself at night. "I'll be on the couch," Taehyung surrendered, meeting Jungkook's waiting gaze. "You'll be in my room." The demon does not listen to the outrage of the angel, who almost stomps and screams with anger and injustice. He knew in advance that Kim would sleep in his room, just for the sake of decency, he gave him a choice. Therefore, leaving him to swear, he goes to his room and opens the door, letting his pet out. Fluffy happily runs out of the room where he was locked so that he would not gnaw on his favorite corner of the sofa, and runs to the center of the apartment, but notices a stranger who holds his breath and looks at him with big eyes. Jungkook immediately stops the pet's growling by calling him by name: "Orpheus, you can't!" — the dog immediately tucks his tail between his legs and lies down on the ground with his stomach, head down. The demon approaches the slightly trembling angel and wraps his arm around his waist, pointedly not noticing the puzzled look. "I don't allow you to bark and growl at him. He's with me," Orpheus looked up at Jeon's voice, examining two people: one is his beloved master, and the other is some stranger to him, whom Jungkook is hugging. "Do you understand?" The huge and black as night German Shepherd only whined for a second and stood up, standing on all fours. He slowly walks up to Taehyung, who is snuggled up to the owner, and sniffs him, touching his bare legs with her cold nose. After a couple of minutes of sniffing, and then wagging his tail, he runs happily to his couch, looking at how calmly Kim exhales after this tension. "I want to sleep, to be honest," Jungkook says, hiding his yawn in his palm. "The linen is new there, I put a T-shirt for you so that you can change. I'll be on the couch. If anything, call me." Taehyung nods and turns in the opposite direction to go to his place for the upcoming nap. The angel almost does not feel the former awkwardness that has covered him with his head, so he calmly enters someone else's room, turns on the light and examines it. Everything was done in the same style as the other rooms: dark wallpaper, a huge bed with a bottom white backlight, in front of which hangs a large plasma TV. In the corner of the room there is a closet, which, judging by its size, stores a huge number of things. Bedside tables with lamps are huddled next to the bed, and in the middle of the room there is a plush white carpet, soft as a cloud. He sits down on the bed, the mattress of which is very soft, surprising how soft it is. Kim picks up a blue T-shirt and looks at it: it will be too big for him. But this should not be a reason for any excitement or indignation, so he calmly changes clothes and dives under the same soft blanket. Kim already feels how great it will be to sleep on such a wonderful bed, because such a sleeping place is only in dreams. The angel looks at the ceiling, trying to catch a dream that has not come to him for two hours, judging by the clock that stands on the table. He has already shed tears during this time, mourning a recent incident. It seems to him that he will never look at his back again. Two stars stand out so much among the whites. Two stars — two eyes. Would they burn out his eyes so that he would never be able to see this shame? The guilt will never leave him. Why does someone on Earth come across tasks in the form of removing a kitten from a tree, and someone, that is, Taehyung, has to investigate some monstrous cases and protect from an equally monstrous death. Did she deserve to have her heart taken away and ripped out of her body just like that? But he could have prevented it. He hates his essence. He doesn't worry about what it looks like or what it means when he gets off someone else's bed and puts his feet on the floor. He doesn't think about anything when he leaves the room and goes to where Jeongguk is resting now. He just needs to fall asleep. And he will use someone who can help him with this. A demon is sitting on the couch, covered with some kind of light blanket and, with his hand behind his head, dozing. For a second, he even changed his mind about waking him up "Jungkook, are you asleep?" "No, I'm just taking a nap. What's wrong, angel?" the demon opens his eyes and sits up, immediately getting up from the heated sofa. Taehyung became a little shy and looked away. When he came here, he was more confident in his decision, but now he doubted the correctness of his actions. Jeon himself said that he could call him if anything happened, so he's calling. "I know this is going to sound weird, but can you sleep with me?" The demon, without saying anything, grabs Kim's hand and leads him to his room, where the angel was supposed to sleep alone, but plans have changed and now this bed will be warmed with two bodies. Jungkook closes the door behind Taehyung, letting go of his hand, and then sees the angel settling down in his former spot, covering himself with the blanket that still hasn't lost Kim's warmth. He gently lies down next to him and rests his chest against his back without even asking, because he knows he needs it and it will help him fall asleep faster. Jungkook pulls him tighter around his waist to leave no distance between them, listening to his heart beating fast. He doesn't know what was driving him at that moment, but he wanted to leave a kiss on his neck. He did leave it, noticing that the angel had stopped breathing for the time being. Taehyung fell asleep ten minutes later, finding protection and comfort in the man lying next to him. After making sure the angel had fallen into slumber, the demon followed.
