Imagine that you were the best friend of Stiles Stilinski and Scott McCall, and also had a crush on Isaac Lahey.
***
After the lacrosse match, you were waiting for Stiles and Scott near the locker room. They were delayed for a very long time, not as usual, and you, having knocked and received no answer, decided to see where they were.
"Hello?" you hesitantly looked inside and your attention was immediately attracted… Isaac without a T-shirt, who apparently changed after a shower.
You stared at him openly for a couple of seconds, and then you came to your senses.
"Oh," you squeaked, covering your eyes with your hands, "I'm sorry!" you quickly went out the door and closed it.
You heard muffled laughter, and a few seconds later the door opened.
"Hi, Y/N," Isaac smiled at you, "it's all right, don't worry. Just please, if next time you knock on the locker room, wait for an answer anyway, okay?" he laughed softly.
"Of course, Isaac, I'm sorry" you blushed.
Why is it that when you tried not to think about Isaac without a T-shirt, all you thought about was Isaac without a T-shirt?
***
Thoughts of Isaac have been bothering you.
Isaac himself began to tease you every time you met. You were wildly embarrassed and blushed, and Lahey didn't seem to notice it at all, or only pretended not to notice it.
You giggled stupidly at his jokes, laughed and smiled broadly. But as soon as he was out of sight, you didn't understand why you were doing all this. You tried to think logically, but all your logic disappeared somewhere as soon as Isaac appeared somewhere nearby.
You think you've fallen in love with Isaac Lahey. It's only now that you've completely realized it.
Damn it!..
***
Now the main thing was not to let him know that you like him, because you were afraid that he would suddenly start teasing you about it or mock you. You didn't know this "new" Isaac. You didn't really notice him before because when you once tried to (make friends) with him at least to talk, he ran away from you like a leper. Now you knew that it was because of his father that he couldn't and didn't want to trust anyone, but then it hurt you a lot. You approached him a couple more times, but it didn't lead to anything, so after that you decided to focus completely on your studies and your friends and tried very, very hard to get Isaac out of your head.
But every time, every damn time you saw him, your heart jumped and you couldn't help but approach him to ask if he needed help with anything. The answer to you was always a quiet "no, thank you," so you left him alone until the next time. He never got mad at you for it and didn't try to leave, he just waited for you to ask your question.
***
Of course, you tried not to let him know that you fell in love with him, but as luck would have it, that's all you managed to do.
To your great surprise, he did not laugh at you when you, unusually stuttering, asked him about something, only asked if everything was all right with you. He didn't tease you about it, although it would seem that he would find a reason to laugh at everything he sees. It was a little weird.
Now you didn't know how to behave with him, whether to ignore him, as before, or to ask him if he needed help, which seemed to you a rather stupid question. His father died and now he lives somewhere unknown. But curiosity still got the better of your mind one day and you asked him about it. Isaac told you that he lives with a friend and no, he doesn't need help right now. You did mention that if suddenly your parents have a spare room in the house and they wouldn't mind if Isaac suddenly decided to live there. He thought for a couple of seconds, and then nodded, thanking you for such a flattering offer.
***
What was your surprise when, after this conversation, your parents came into your room early one morning and simply told you that Isaac Lahey would now live in the same house with you. They said it so simply, as if it was already a settled issue. You didn't say anything because you just didn't know what to say to them. You just asked if anyone knew about it. It turned out that Sheriff Stilinski supported the idea of your parents, who offered Lahey help in connection with the death of his father and Isaac will now temporarily stay with you.
***
"And when I told you about the free room, you replied that you didn't need help" with these words you met Isaac on the threshold of your (yours?) at home.
He frowned at first, and then looked at you and smiled faintly.
"I'm sorry, Y/N", he answered shortly, shifting his gaze to your parents, who were hurrying to you.
"Come on in, Isaac, don't be shy..." your mom seems to have decided to chat him up. You just rolled your eyes, involuntarily smiling at the thought of it and went to your room. You knew that your parents themselves would show your guest the whole house, and nothing is required of you, well, except to help with the room.
***
"Y/N!" your mom shouted from the first floor, "call Isaac for breakfast and come down yourself too!"
You frowned, and then with a heavy sigh got up and headed down the hall to another room.
Knocking on the door, you called:
"Isaac, get up, we'll be late for school."
You heard some strange sounds coming from behind the door and, frowning, opened it.
Apparently Isaac had a nightmare. He was tossing around on the bed, muttering something indistinctly. The blanket was already on the floor. You looked around helplessly, having no idea what to do.
"Isaac, wake up," you finally called softly.
He didn't respond to your voice and you called louder:
"Isaac, wake up! It's just a dream, you're safe, it's okay!"
Suddenly his eyes flew open. They were bright yellow.
You're frozen in place, paralyzed by fear. What is this...?..
He growled at you, baring his fangs, but now you had absolutely no time to think about it. The main thing was to calm him down, because he clearly did not understand where he was and what was wrong with him.
"Hush, Isaac, hush. Everything is fine. You're safe. You're at our house, remember? You arrived yesterday," you said as calmly as you could now, trying not to make sudden movements. "Breathe, Isaac, breathe. Inhale... exhale... come with me. Breathe, Isaac. Breath…"
You inhaled and exhaled deeply, not forgetting to gently pronounce.
"Well done, Isaac," you praised him, noticing that he began to breathe in time with your breathing, "let's do it again, inhale ... and exhale."
After a few minutes, he finally calmed down and now looked at you guiltily.
"I'm sorry," he said in a hoarse voice from sleep, "I scared you."
You shook your head.
"It's all right, really. My mom called us for breakfast," you immediately put in, "so go wash up, and I'll go downstairs for now," you sighed heavily and, turning your back to him, took hold of the door handle.
"Sorry," Isaac's quiet voice caught up with you already in the hallway, "I'm really sorry that I scared you, I didn't want to."
"It's okay, Isaac," you said again, "don't worry about it," you added again before closing the door.
Before closing the door and taking a deep breath.
What the fuck did you just see?..
***
You took your backpack from your room and went downstairs to put your things and have breakfast, but now you didn't have an appetite. All your thoughts were occupied by one very, very strange Isaac Lahey. That's why you made yourself only tea to drink now and took a few sandwiches with you in a container. You also took a thermos of hot tea with you.
"Aren't you hungry?" your mom looked at you with concern.
"No, Mom, I'm going to eat at school, honestly," you kissed her on the cheek and sat down at your place at the dinner table.
"Are you sure?" dad was also worried about you, because you usually ate every morning without refusing food, and here it is…
"Yes, Dad, everything is fine, I'll take sandwiches with me," you pointed to the food container and smiled.
The parents nodded synchronously, not taking their wary and worried eyes off you.
Footsteps were heard and Isaac appeared in the kitchen doorway.
"Will you have breakfast?" your mom immediately asked him head-on.
He frowned in perplexity and looked at you carefully.
"I will," he nodded his head and went ahead to the kitchen, sat down at the table.
***
Isaac didn't try to talk to you. However, Scott did it instead. More specifically, Scott and Stiles.
"We should have told you about this a long time ago. I'm a werewolf," Scott told you right in the forehead.
"You're kidding," you looked at them as jerks. As a matter of fact, they were in your humble opinion.
"No", Scott stubbornly shook his head, and Stiles immediately started babbling something about werewolves, about Scott being bitten in the woods a year ago when they were looking for the body of a dead girl.
You shook your head, trying to collect your thoughts.
"So you're saying that werewolves exist?!" you lowered your voice to a whisper.
"Yes," McCall nodded to you, and you silently slapped your forehead.
"And Isaac Lahey is one of them... of you, right?" you looked at Scott first, and then you looked at Stiles.
Stilinski immediately raised his hands, as if giving up.
"Don't look at me like that, I'm an ordinary person, really! Honestly!"
You just sighed heavily. Damn their secrets!..
***
Isaac caught up with you on the way home from school.
"Wait!" he caught up with you pretty quickly and walked next to you, "have you seen Scott and Stiles?" he asked immediately.
"Yes," you nodded, looking sullenly in front of you. The thought that all this time your friends were not telling you one very important detail was scratching at your soul like a cat.
Isaac exhaled softly.
"Then you already know," he looked at you sideways, you noticed it out of the corner of your eye, but continued to stare stubbornly in front of you, just really trying not to break down and start screaming. They didn't trust you so much that they didn't tell you that Scott had turned into an urban horror story!!! And even the best friends are called!..
Isaac probably somehow realized that you were just going to explode, so he overtook you a little, and then stopped you by taking you by the shoulders.
"My father died from the teeth of kanima, this is also a kind of werewolf," he said quietly. "He wasn't the best father, but I didn't have anyone else, and when he died... I moved to live with the one who turned me," he looked carefully into your eyes. "I didn't know a damn thing then either and I was a little scared, but I knew that life with him would be much better than with my father," he looked away, but you noticed the pain that flashed in the depths of his eyes.
"Isaac..." you whispered softly, "I don't…"
He shook his head, stopping you.
"I think they just didn't know how to tell you about it, they were afraid of your reaction, so they didn't say a word. Please give them a chance to explain everything. Don't cut everything off at the root. They value you very much," he smiled at you, "I think they didn't want to harm you or hurt you."
You looked into his eyes, and then looked away, thinking, and nodded uncertainly, agreeing with his thoughts and with your own.
"Okay… Okay," you nodded more confidently, and then looked into Isaac's eyes, "okay," you repeated, "okay, I'll talk to them."
He smiled at you again and let go of your shoulders.
***
A conversation with friends brought rather unexpected results. A few days later, you met Derek Hale, the very "friend" of Isaac, who turned him and sheltered him for a while.
The new supernatural world was very interesting, but you also understood that it was fraught with a lot of dangers that neither your friends nor you yourself simply could not know about.
Your head was spinning from the abundance of new information and you took a break for a couple of days to digest everything, sort it out and finally figure it out.
***
After that morning, Isaac stopped teasing you. Instead, he looked at you for a long time and attentively, and sometimes you felt uncomfortable from his gaze, goosebumps ran over your skin in droves.
He started doing what you used to do. He started asking you if you were all right, how you were feeling. He started being interested in you, and you didn't understand why. Was it your merit that you saved him from a nightmare? Then you didn't understand anything at all.
***
"Isaac?" you froze on the threshold of his room, "are you okay?"
He didn't answer you. He was sitting on the bed right in front of you and was silent.
You walked up to him and knelt down in front of the bed, trying to look into his face.
"Isaac?" you called softly, gently taking his hand in yours.
He started and looked up at you with frightened eyes.
"What happened?" you asked softly and softly, looking at him.
He exhaled and shook his head, closing his eyes.
"It's okay," his voice was even quieter than yours. It seemed that you could only read what he was talking about by his lips.
You shook your head, stroking the skin of his hand with your thumb.
"You had another nightmare, right?"
He shuddered again and looked up at you. The expression "how did you know" was easily read in his gaze.
You sighed heavily. You didn't know how to help him, and Isaac didn't want to ask for help himself, assuring you that he would be able to cope with his own nightmares. Except now you didn't really believe in all that.
You turned away, wondering what to do, and then opened your mouth to suggest singing him a song at night or maybe reading a fairy tale, leaving the night light in the room turned on in the end, Isaac himself beat you to it.
"Please don't leave," there were tears in his voice. He squeezed your hand and you did your best not to gasp in pain, but apparently you couldn't keep your face and Lahey let go of your hand, quietly muttering apologies.
"It's all right, Isaac," you smiled, hoping that your smile didn't look like a grin, but apparently it wasn't.
"Please don't leave," Isaac looked at you, "please stay here, please..." apparently, he wanted to say something like "banish my nightmares", but either he didn't have the guts, or he couldn't ask you about it, in general he said nothing.
You sighed heavily again, and then brought the night light from your room, turned it on and silently settled down on the bed next to Isaac.
"Lie down," you nodded to him on the blanket, and when he took cover, you hugged him. "Go to sleep," you left a weightless kiss on his hair, and then on his temple. "Please try not to hurt me at night," you said jokingly. Isaac smiled shyly and closed his eyes.
"Good night," murmured Lahey falling asleep.
"Good night," you responded, closing your eyes after him.
***
Morning greeted you with Isaac, whose curls were illuminated by the sunlight pouring from behind the curtains.
"Good morning," he smiled at you.
"Good morning..." you yawned and stretched out on the bed.
He loomed over you from above and suddenly kissed you on the nose. You smiled.
"Are you okay?" he whispered.
"Yes," you answered quietly, "and you?"
"Everything is fine," he smiled, looking into your eyes," only thanks to you. Thanks."
You shook your head, but he smiled and kissed you on the lips. You opened your eyes in surprise and tried to pull away, but then changed your mind, even though Isaac almost let you do it. You've been in love with him for too long and just didn't want to admit it, so when luck (is it luck?..) smiled at you, you decided to enjoy it. That's why you didn't pull away yourself and didn't let Isaac do it.
When you finally broke the kiss, you smiled at the guy.
"I love you, Isaac Lahey," you said seriously.
By the gleaming joy and happiness in the eyes of the opposite, you managed to understand his answer even before he said anything.
