Azure_Mischief, thanks for the idea for the chapter. And there, today's one day left until the birth of Richie, Red and Scarlett's son.
There's the word «Phantasm» in the title, because… Touhou Youyoumu, Phantasm Stage.
It was one summer day at the town of Greenwich. This day was extremely hot that Red took off his dark red tank top, revealing his slightly broad fuzzy chest and round tummy covered in red fur.
Scarlett, his wife, was standing next to the open fridge, hoping to cool off for a little while. Meanwhile, Red on the sofa in the living room was waving the magazine, also hoping to get some long-awaited coolness.
As Red waved the magazine, a gentle breeze from the open window rustled its pages, providing him with a fleeting moment of relief from the scorching heat. The sweat glistened on his forehead, and he wiped it off with the back of his paw. Looking over at Scarlett, he couldn't help but admire how her silky brown fur shimmered in the sunlight.
“Ugh, it's unbearable,” Red groaned, sinking back into the sofa. “I wish we had a pool or something to cool off in.”
Scarlett closed the fridge and joined Red on the sofa. “I know, right? This heatwave is insane. We should have planned a vacation by the beach.”
“Yeah, that would have been perfect,” Red agreed, fanning himself with the magazine. “But with the sooner birth of our son and all, it's hard to find the time.” He referred to Richie, who was in an egg inside Red's tummy.
They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the heat bearing down on them. Then, Scarlett's eyes lit up with an idea. “I've got it! Remember when we went to the café near the beach last month? We ordered each other some pina colada, so why don't we try to make some now? Luckily, we have all the needed ingredients.”
Red turned to Scarlett with a smile. “That sounds like a fantastic idea! You relax here on the sofa, and I'll be the bartender for the day. Just tell me where everything is, and I'll whip up the perfect nourishing pina colada for both of us.”
Red eagerly jumped up from the sofa and headed towards the kitchen. He opened the cabinet and retrieved the coconut cream and pineapple juice, placing them on the countertop. The thought of a refreshing pina colada was already making him feel cooler.
Scarlett guided Red through the process, pointing to the blender and grabbing two tall glasses from the cupboard. “Okay, Red, first, you'll need to add about half a cup of coconut cream into the blender for each drink,” she instructed. Red poured the thick, creamy coconut cream into the blender, relishing its sweet aroma.
Next, Scarlett handed him the pineapple juice. “Pour in one cup of pineapple juice for each pina colada,” she directed. Red carefully measured out the tropical juice, marveling at the vibrant yellow color. He poured it into the blender, watching as it mixed with the coconut cream.
Then, with a mischievous grin, Red grabbed a scoop of vanilla ice cream from the freezer. He knew Scarlett enjoyed a little extra sweetness in her drink. He added it to the blender along with the coconut cream and pineapple juice.
As the blender whirred to life, Red's thoughts drifted to the sound of crashing waves, the cool ocean breeze, and the feeling of sand under his paws. He imagined himself and Scarlett lounging on beach chairs, sipping their drinks under the shade of an umbrella. It was a perfect mental escape from the sweltering heat of the day.
After a minute of blending, Red poured the creamy concoction into two tall glasses, being sure to leave extra room for a decorative straw. He carried the drinks back to the living room and handed one to Scarlett, who had made herself comfortable on the sofa.
“Here you go, my dear,” Red said, handing Scarlett the cold glass. “A homemade pina colada, just the way you like it. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing.”
Scarlett took a sip, a contented smile spreading across her face. “Mmm, it's absolutely delicious, Red. You truly are the best bartender.” She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness.
“And the best husband, right?” Red said, raising his glass in a toast. “To finding moments of paradise even in the midst of a heatwave. Cheers, my love.”
As Red and Scarlett savored their homemade pina coladas, the heat seemed to fade into the background. Their living room transformed into a tropical oasis, where the worries of the world melted away with each sip.
They lounged on the sofa together, their furry bodies and hearts cooled by the delicious concoctions in their hands. It didn't matter that they couldn't escape to the beach that day because within the walls of their home, they had created their own slice of paradise.
After enjoying their pina coladas, Red and Scarlett leaned back on the sofa, feeling a sense of tranquility wash over them. The sweet, cold beverage had provided moments of respite from the oppressive heat, and now they could focus on the imminent arrival of their son, Richie.
As Red sat with Scarlett, he placed a gentle paw on his own round tummy, feeling a slight movement within. The sensation reassured him that Richie was growing stronger, ready to hatch and join them in their cozy «nest».
Scarlett leaned closer, her soft fur brushing against Red's as she placed her paw on his tummy too. They both smiled, filled with anticipation for the day ahead. They had been preparing for Richie's arrival, making their home a safe and welcoming place for their son.
With just one day left until Richie's expected hatching, Red and Scarlett couldn't help but reflect on their journey together. They had faced challenges and overcome them, always supporting each other with love and care.
As the sun slowly set outside their window, casting a warm glow into the room, Red whispered softly, “I can't believe our sonny will be here soon, Scarlett. It feels like just yesterday we were dreaming about starting a family.”
Scarlett nodded, her eyes shimmering with affection. “Yes, Red. Our dream is about to become a reality. I'm grateful every day for the love we share and the life we're creating together.”
They sat in silence, embracing the beauty of the moment. The room was filled with a sense of serenity and anticipation, as if the very walls were echoing their excitement.
Later that evening, as Red and Scarlett settled into their cozy sofa for the night, they couldn't help but linger on the edge of sleep, whispering dreams and hopes for their son. They painted vivid pictures of Richie's future, imagining the adventures they would embark on as a family, the love and laughter that would fill their lives.
