On the stadium bleachers, a young man lay,
Gazing at the sunrise, lost in thoughts at play.
What does he seek in this Twilight's grace?
She's not the one, her heart in another place.
If all is well with the one she holds dear,
Why does anger rise, fanning the fear?
"Classes start in two hours, what brings you here?"
His ex-lover questioned, concern sincere.
Ex-couples rarely share amiable bonds,
Yet here, thanks to her, understanding responds.
"I can't sleep, so I come here to be near.
Better early than late, no need for a sneer."
"Is that the only reason?" she probes with care,
"Perhaps visit the med bay, your distress to declare?"
Flash sighed loudly, abruptly on his feet,
Annoyed how everyone knows his heart's beat.
In love with her, a secret he bears,
Thoughts of her consume him, caught unawares.
"Let me guess, you're thinking of her again?"
"How many seconds for this riddle to attain?"
"A couple, Sentry, for it's clear as day,
You act like a fool, chasing one, dreaming of another's sway."
"I admit, I'm a fool, seeking where she's not found.
She's a princess; I'm a student, worlds unbound."
"She won't fall from the sky at my plea,
No matter how desperately I wish it to be."
Head bowed, hands tangled in his hair,
Dreamt of her often, in his sleep's affair.
"Do you know the forest at the city's edge?
Maybe there, your soul will find a wedge.
Take a walk, perhaps today,
Sunsets are especially beautiful, they say."
She patted his back, then walked away,
Half an hour passed, he chose to obey.
Following her lead, towards the city's fringe,
A journey to the outskirts, emotions unhinge.
