Chapter 13

The immense darkness pressed down from all sides. In addition, numerous chains surrounded and entangled the body of the poor educator. Sundrop was tossing in his fetters, trying with all his might to break free, but all his attempts were in vain. The solar educator just couldn't believe that all this really happened. Literally, here he was, running as fast as he could to help the poor boy, and the next minute his body was cramped with terrible pain from the transformation, and after that he was again locked inside the general consciousness, tied hand and foot. Sundrop couldn't see what was going on around him, but he felt through their shared connection that something terrible was happening. Sundrop knew that his brother had managed to get to the boy after all. Sun felt everything that his twin was experiencing at that time: joy and exultation at the capture of the child; the internal struggle between immediately dragging the baby to kindergarten, or feeding him first; anger at the boy's disobedience; and in the end, hidden fear from another external threat. The solar educator was greatly surprised by this: some other threat forced his brother to release the child and urgently leave the area of their last stay. So it would be really serious if his brother did that. So the child, Gregory, was in danger. Sundrop would have been happy to intervene, but he couldn't: without the light, he couldn't break the shackles, and his twin would be the leader in their pair. The sunny tutor lowered his head sadly: how he would like to have a mobile face to remove his eternal smile from his face, because being cheerful in this situation was completely out of place. Whatever Moondrop was doing, however, Sun soon felt the anxiety and anger emanating from his brother. Something was wrong. Then there was rage, despair, sadness, and at the end there was increased determination. Sundrop couldn't take it anymore: he had to find out what was going on outside. Trying to mentally convey all his emotions, Sun tried to shout to his brother. «MOONDROP!.. MOONDROP!.. MOONNY!.. PLEASE, LITTLE BROTHER, HEAR ME!.. PLEASE TALK TO ME!.. TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON... I BEG YOU, MOONNY!" Sundrop shouted with all his might. He did not know if his brother would talk to him, but he did not lose hope. "PLEASE, MOONNY! PLEASE!" The educator struggled with his voice and his internal system, until finally he felt a familiar presence. As soon as Sundrop fell silent, his brother appeared in front of him. Moondrop finally decided to visit their common room. It's been so long since the brothers have been here at the same time. The sunny educator felt the warmth of the memories that came flooding back when he and his brother came here in between work to communicate with each other. How Sundrop missed those times. However, now everything was different: Moondrop became obsessed with the idea of getting a lonely child with his mechanical hands, and Sundrop was forced to do everything to prevent this from happening. But something was definitely wrong now: Moondrop looked extremely anxious and restless. The lunar animatronic silently approached his brother, without ceasing to wring his hands all the time, and then sat down opposite him. Moondrop finally raised his head and the twins' eyes finally met. "HELLO, SUNNY, LONG TIME NO SEE..." "Moonny? What happened to you?.. you look scared..." The lunar animatronic looked at his brother, and then tried with all his might to look away in the other direction: he fingered the bells on his hands, trying to distract himself somehow. "It's all right, little brother... don't worry... I'm all right... or rather, we're all right... very soon I'll get a baby, and we'll be able to take care of him for the rest of our lives... that's just, we have some problems... damn central animatronics..." Sundrop sat very surprised: he did not know what surprised him more in this situation: that his brother started swearing, that he was still obsessed with the idea of catching the child, or that Moonny was very worried about something. Knowing that he would not get an answer to some questions, Sun stopped at the main thing. "What's going on out there? Where's the baby, is he okay?" Moondrop sighed very loudly with its ventilation system. "The boy is fine, as far as I know... I don't know where he is yet, but I will find him soon ... but we have trouble with the rest... I'm afraid that exactly what was hidden will soon come out, and history will repeat itself again... but this time everything will be much worse..." Sundrop didn't understand anything at all now. "Will history repeat itself? What's the story? What has already happened? Tell me everything, Moony..." Deciding that for the sake of his brother's safety, he also had to find out about it, Moondrop decided to open up. Holding hands with his twin, the lunar educator spoke. "You see, Sunny, there is one terrible story that I have never told you about, and few people know about it… It concerns the main star of the local shopping center… It's about Freddy..." "Freddy?.. But what could be terrible about him? He's the kindest animatronic in the whole pizzaplex..." However, Moondrop only shook his head negatively. "Trust me, Sunny, he's not that kind at all… All this happened quite a long time ago..."

Flashback

The lunar educator, unlike most of the local animatronics, had one trump card: he could safely move around the building at night, making rounds of the entire territory. On one of these days, or rather nights, the animatronic in his unusual manner, on all fours, moved around the main hall of the Atrium. At the moment when the animatronic decided to return to his kindergarten, he was attracted by a strange noise coming from the location of the "Race with Roxy". Curiosity and anxiety got the upper hand, and the teacher went there, trying not to make much noise with his bells. Going a little further into the depths, Moondrop noticed a familiar pair of animatronics that were discussing something quite actively. They were local stars: Bonnie Rabbit and Freddy Bear. The lead singer of the band was kind of nervous and depressed, and his friend tried in every way to cheer him up. Deciding to eavesdrop on the conversation, the teacher crawled closer and hid behind the nearest photo booth. The dialogue was extremely strange. "Freddy, please, let's calm down. Believe me, nothing terrible happened. There will always be people who will think badly of us, given the past of this company, but it's not the end of the world..." "You don't understand, Bonnie!.. You don't understand… I've heard what some of the guests are saying about me. Terrible things have happened in the past. But it wasn't me. These were the previous models. Problematic. I am not capable of offending anyone. You know that, right?" Moonny was surprised: Freddy was the most beloved of all animatronics, and to know that there were people who could talk like that was quite strange. Bonnie came closer to his friend, trying to cheer him up. "Come on, don't be upset... of course I know that you can't offend anyone… You're the best animatronic in the whole pizza complex… You're my Superstar!.. of course, you're not perfect, but everyone has their flaws... that's what makes us special..." Freddy, who had been standing with his back to his friend, somehow tensed suspiciously, and then just as slowly began to turn around. "Repeat, Bonnie, what did you just say?!... So I'm not perfect, right?.. Well, what are my shortcomings, tell me..." The bear began to slowly approach the lilac rabbit. "Well, um, you know yourself... for example, you don't play bowling well... and who doesn't, actually?.. Well, or you stare at children and their parents too often, thereby often distracting from work... and sometimes you mumble something a lot of times that one day everything will change... you scare me a lot with this, my friend..." Meanwhile, Freddy came almost close to the rabbit, and their rounded bodies almost touched. "And you know what, Bonnie," the bear abruptly stretched out his hand and grabbed his friend by the neck, and the second one began to put pressure on the body with force, from which he dangerously cracked, "maybe it's not flaws... maybe I'm like this on my own... maybe this shows my real essence... maybe it's the real me, who thinks a lot and has plans for the future... maybe I have dreams and desires that I plan to fulfill when the time comes..." Bonnie struggled desperately in his friend's grip, but did not dare to object to anything. Rabbit trusted his Freddy, even if he started behaving so strangely. "Super… Superstar... I don't understand what's going on... you're g-saying weird things..." In response to this, the lead singer of the group only hit his friend hard in the stomach, leaving numerous cracks, and then finally let him go. The rabbit shrank from the pain, looking with fear into the eyes of his friend, which, as it seemed to him, glowed purple. "Remember, Bonnie, what I'm going to tell you: what happens to me is my business, and I don't want you or anyone else to get involved in all this… If you get in my way, or get in my way, then I will hurt you at every possible opportunity, do you understand, my friend?" Then Freddy changed again: his eyes turned blue again, and the evil grin turned into a sweet smile again. "Well... had a good time, Bonnie... see you at the performance tomorrow... good night!" And the animatronic just turned around and left, disappearing from sight, as if nothing had happened. The lilac rabbit, on the other hand, stood for some time holding his stomach, clearly shocked by what he heard, and then followed his friend to the exit from the racing territory. Moondrop finally came out of hiding and was no less shocked. Something very strange and terrible was happening here. However, there was no time to figure it out: the opening time was approaching, and the teacher had to return to his location. Getting on all fours, the animatronic disappeared as quickly as it appeared, not noticing the surveillance in the form of an eared rabbit hiding nearby.

End of Freshback

Sundrop sat stunned by what he heard. Moondrop sat across from him, not letting go of his brother's bound hands. "This is... this is terrible, Moonny... how could Freddy do this?.. it's not like him at all... and do you think that he could... that he could be the reason for Bonnie's disappearance?" "I don't know, bro… Freddy looked like he didn't remember what he just did... it's all so confusing... but I know one thing: if we're not careful with this crazy bear, then you and I may be left with one colorful scrap metal..." Finally Moondrop got up from the floor and, turning around, began to slowly move away from his brother. "Wait, Moonny... where are you going now?.. please don't leave me alone..." The lunar animatronic, without looking at his brother, began to gradually disappear, thereby returning to reality. "I have to find this child... now he needs our care and protection more than ever… See you later, Sunny... and I've never left you... I'm doing this for us... and I'm always there..." And he disappeared, disappearing into thin air. "You've already left me, Moondrop..." Meanwhile, in another part of the mall, in a large security room next to the rehearsal hall. Gregory was sitting in an armchair, huddled into a small ball under the watchful and stern gaze of the guard, who, like a rabid tigress, paced from corner to corner. After a brief retelling of all the recent events told by the boy, the girl became quite angry. "SO IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT?! ALL THESE EVENTS HAPPENED BECAUSE OF YOU?!... I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HOW A LITTLE BRAT LIKE YOU COULD DO SO MUCH DAMAGE IN ONE NIGHT... YOU DISGUSTING, OBNOXIOUS CHILD!" In addition to the angry speech, the guard periodically uttered insults to the child, completely ignoring his already frightened face. "WELL, HOW COULD YOU MANAGE THAT? UNTIL RECENTLY, EVERYTHING WAS FINE ... BUT NO ... AS SOON AS YOU APPEARED, EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY WENT TO PIECES ... EVEN THOSE STUPID ANIMATRONICS WITH THEIR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE… WHO GIVES ROBOTS THEIR OWN MINDS TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE AT ALL? THIS IS COMPLETE NONSENSE… AND ALSO THESE FLASH DRIVES WITH IMPROVED CONSCIOUSNESS... COMPLETE IDIOTS ARE WORKING AT THE TOP..." Gregory tried not to listen to the angry speech of the guard, because he had already suffered such insults in his life, but the last part, said by the girl, hooked him. "Flash drives? ... What other flash drives?" The boy said it very quietly, afraid to open his mouth once again and make it even worse than it was. Vanessa just rolled her eyes at this, periodically casting an angry glance at the child, then at the broken chicken. Chick was very sorry for the boy, but she could not object to the night guard in any way: not only because of the lack of voice, but also because the girl was considered her boss, and therefore she could not say anything against it. "AND SUCH, LITTLE BRAT... THE BOSSES DECIDED THAT IF ANIMATRONICS IMPROVED THEIR INTELLIGENCE, THEY WOULD THINK BETTER, REACT FASTER, AND IN GENERAL BECOME MORE PERFECT THAN THEY ARE NOW ... SO THEIR SHOWS, AND INDEED EVERYTHING, HAD TO BECOME BETTER AND MORE CREATIVE THAN IN ANY OTHER ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX...AS IF WHAT IS ALREADY IN THIS PIZZERIA WAS NOT ENOUGH..." The girl with obvious agony began to rub her fingers with weights, trying to calm the headache caused by anger. "AND SO A CASE CAME TO US FROM SOMEWHERE ABOVE, AND THERE WERE SIX FLASH DRIVES FOR EACH ANIMATRONIC ... EACH SUCH FLASH DRIVE COULD IMPROVE THE MIND BY 120%, MAKING THESE COLORFUL DOLLS EVEN SMARTER... THEN WE NEEDED THE FIRST TEST SUBJECT… AND HERE'S A COINCIDENCE... GUESS WHO BECAME ONE..." Gregory gradually began to understand the meaning of Vanessa's words, and he began to find a connection between what was happening and what had happened in the past. "Was that... was that Freddy?" Vanessa just nodded and continued her angry speech. "YES, SMART GUY, IT WAS FREDDY WHO BECAME THE FIRST TEST SUBJECT... THE AUTHORITIES DECIDED THAT HE WOULD BE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE, GIVEN THAT HE IS THE CENTRAL FIGURE IN THIS BUILDING... AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED, I DON'T EVEN KNOW... IT FEELS LIKE THE FLASH DRIVE DIDN'T WORK ON HIM... THE ANIMATRONIC BEHAVED AS USUAL... WE THOUGHT, THAT THE FLASH DRIVES WOULD WORK ON OTHERS, BUT THEY WERE GONE... THESE SAME FLASH DRIVES SEEMED TO HAVE DISAPPEARED, AND NO ONE SAW WHERE THEY WENT... AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS BAD, BUT NOW I SEE THAT IT'S FOR THE BEST... JUST IMAGINE, WHAT EFFECT DID ONE FLASH DRIVE HAVE ON ANIMATRONICS... AND IF ALL ANIMATRONICS WERE IMPROVED WITH THEIR HELP?.. IT'S EVEN SCARY TO THINK ABOUT IT..." Calming down a little, Vanessa went to the nearest computer and began to actively type something on the screen. Gregory, on the other hand, sat and looked at everyone from his seat: the boy kept fiddling with the edge of his T-shirt, periodically glancing at the Freddy logo located in the center of his clothes. "And then what are we going to do?.. What should we do with Freddy and the other robots in the building?" The guard did not immediately respond: she finished typing, and then went to the nearest table and took a new cap, which she proudly put on herself. "WE WON'T DO ANYTHING... WE'LL STAY HERE IN THIS MOST SECURE ROOM UNTIL THE POLICE ARRIVE HERE... AT EXACTLY SIX O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING, THE DOORS WILL OPEN AGAIN, AND WE CAN SAFELY LEAVE THE BUILDING, AND LET THE AUTHORITIES SORT OUT ALL THIS MESS… BUT ABOUT YOU, GREGORY..." Vanessa came close to the fry and hovered over him from above, casting a frightening shadow, from which he immediately somehow tensed. "AS SOON AS THE DOORS OPEN, I WILL HAND YOU OVER TO THE POLICE AND YOU WILL SOON BE RETURNED TO YOUR PARENTS… AND I WILL HOPE THAT THIS WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CAUSE PROBLEMS IN THIS BUILDING WITH YOUR PRESENCE... AND AS FOR THE OTHER ANIMATRONICS... THOSE WHO WERE BROKEN, WE WILL PERFORM MEMORY ERASURE AND INSERT THEIR CONSCIOUSNESS INTO NEW ENDOSKELETONS AND PUT NEW SHELLS ON THEM... AND AS FOR FREDDY... THIS BEAR HAS BEEN ASKING FOR A LONG TIME TROUBLE... IT WILL BE TAKEN APART PIECE BY PIECE AND SCRAPPED UNTIL A REPLACEMENT IS CREATED…THAT'S IT." To say that Gregory was terrified is to say nothing. This guard herself scared him, but the thought of returning to his parents caused the child utter horror. What awaits other animatronics sounded terrible, and the boy had thoughts that even if he tried to tell the girl something about his family, she would not care. She just wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible, and she didn't care about the fate of the child. Unfortunately, the boy did not know, but he clearly felt that Vanessa HATED CHILDREN. Gregory realized that if he didn't come up with a rescue plan right away, he would be in trouble. Then, carefully and very slowly, the boy got off the chair and slowly moved to one of the doors. On the way, Gregory grabbed a new flashlight from a nearby table. And so, waiting for the moment when neither Chika nor the guard were looking at him, the boy opened the door and ran out of the room as fast as he could. It was the same reckless and stupid act as in the case of the garbage chute, but still true. Gregory was more afraid of meeting his parents than the security robots on the way. Going down the stairs and opening the door, the boy found himself in front of the animatronics dressing rooms. Then the boy began to hear the sound of footsteps from the stairs: he was being chased. Mentally saying goodbye to the chicken that helped him, Gregory ran towards the dressing rooms to hide. After running quite a bit, the boy opened the familiar red door with the help of one of his security passes, which he continued to carry with him, and dived inside. And here he is again. It all started in this room, just a few hours ago. Melancholy came over the boy. He could barely pay attention to the noise behind the glass and the angry cry of the guard who ran past his hiding place. "LITTLE SCOUNDREL... NASTY BOY, WHERE DID YOU RUN OFF TO AGAIN?" But Gregory wasn't going to come out. He was forced to admit that he had no allies and friends in this building: some tried to catch him, and others tried to hand him over to the police and his parents. The boy was already tired of crying, so he just wiped his slightly damp nose with his hand. Going further into the room, Gregory sat down on the red sofa. The room was bright, despite the darkness behind the glass. In principle, it would be possible to stay here, and it is unlikely that any of the animatronics will come here. Just in case, Gregory got up and closed the curtains, and then went to the door and blocked the entrance from the inside. Now the boy was safe from everyone. Returning to the sofa, Gregory climbed on it with his feet and lay down comfortably on the soft surface. It was so comfortable that he was immediately drawn to sleep. Picking up one of Freddy's stuffed toys from the floor and hugging it to him, Gregory finally closed his eyes and could sleep peacefully, not paying attention to the light in the room. Long-awaited peace and quiet.   Meanwhile, in the main Atrium, an angry animatronic was standing opposite the stage. Freddy was literally shaking with anger. He had to get his child back and simultaneously get rid of the guard, and everyone who now stood in his way. But his strength was not enough. However, Freddy knew how to fix this situation. He lowered his burning eyes to his paw, where five small flash drives were now lying, which would help him achieve his goal. A devilish smile appeared on Freddy's face. "EVERYTHING WILL CHANGE SOON, MY SUPERSTAR! YOU WILL BE IN MY HANDS AGAIN, AND NO ONE WILL INTERFERE WITH ME ANYMORE... NO ONE WILL DARE TO REFUSE ME!"
