Chapter 12

Chika ran through the corridors as fast as she could: her broken limbs were cracking with tension, and the system kept reporting the need for urgent repairs. However, despite all the damage, the chicken continued to move forward. She was clutching a small living lump to her chest. The little boy was slowly recovering from the horror he had experienced. Gregory hugged the broken animatronic by the neck, trying to hold on, and also because right now he needed comfort and care. The boy kept remembering the last moment he had experienced: the terrible laughter of the rabbit, the enclosed space inside Freddy's belly, and the unbearable pain from electric shock, and then darkness and loss of consciousness. It was scary. Even scarier than the monsters his parents talked about, because these monsters were real. In his thoughts, Gregory did not notice how Chika ran into the nearest store with souvenirs and toys. The chicken on the run noticed in the distance of the corridor several broken security robots, the same ones that got out of the dump and went in search of the child. To protect herself and the boy, Chika hid in a souvenir shop to wait until these robots left to continue their journey to a safe room. Once in the store, the chicken looked at the shelves nearby. Lots of souvenirs and paraphernalia dedicated to her and her friends. The animatronic's heart began to fill with longing. She missed her friends so much, and would she never see them again? After putting the child on the counter, Chika slowly walked to the shelf closest to her, on which there were collectible figures of Glamrock animatronics. Among the figures, Chika noticed herself: beautiful, slender, shiny, and most importantly, whole. After looking at the figure for a couple of minutes, the chicken cast a longing glance at the large mirror standing in the corner of the store. A terrible-looking animatronic was looking at Chika from the mirror: a missing beak, a cracked empty body, a missing shell, protruding wires - she looked very bad. Only the eyes radiated true grief. Out of impotence, the chicken knelt down in front of the mirror, leaning her whole hand against her reflection, the floor. Oily tears ran down Chick's face. The chicken didn't even know that she could cry. The whole atmosphere was interrupted by a small noise behind the animatronics. Lifting her head and turning around, Chika saw a boy who was fumbling on one of the shelves with masks. Finally, finding what he was looking for, Gregory happily ran up to the animatronics. In his hands was a large mask of Chicky. Coming closer, Gregory handed his find to the saddened chicken. Chika was very surprised: she didn't understand what the child wanted from her. Then Gregory came even closer and put a mask on the chicken's face with his own hands, and then tied ribbons behind her on the back of her head. Chick, looking in the mirror, immediately cheered up: the mask fit her perfectly, practically becoming her second face, and covering the hole left by the fallen beak. Smiling with only her eyes and making a perky squeaky sound, the chicken pulled the little boy to her chest, and then hugged him tightly. Gregory reciprocated by hugging the chicken in return. After all that the boy had to go through, it was the best moment of peace and tenderness. After hugging, Chika picked up the child again in her arms and cautiously looked out of the store. The road was clear. Without wasting another minute, Chika ran further along the corridors, tightly clutching her priceless burden to her chest. The chicken passed through the basements, ran past the dressing rooms of all animatronics, overcame many stairs, and finally they were in place. Chika ran through the metal lifting doors of one of the most fortified security rooms: there were four metal doors equipped with electric shocks to scare off hostile animatronics. The room was spacious, bright, and much safer than any other place in the building. Closing the doors, Chika went deeper and sat the boy on one of the service chairs. Sitting on a swivel chair, Gregory began to look around the room: there were monitors, computers, and countless buttons everywhere. Ahead, the boy noticed large panoramic windows. Out of curiosity, Gregory got up and looked through the glass: there was a large stage right under him and a lot of stage equipment- there must have been rehearsals before the show. In the boy's head, a picture immediately appeared of animatronics performing on this stage: Chika and the alligator play guitars, the wolf plays the keys, and Freddy the bear dances and sings in the center of the group. Gregory's face immediately changed. Everything in this building was beautiful: animatronics perform, people rejoice, children play on rides and eat pizza - until he appeared. Through Gregory's fault, the whole building has become a real hell: animatronics are broken; robots are out of order and are now hunting for everything alive that they come across; a crazy rabbit is operating in the building; and the main star of this whole building wants to get a little boy into his clawed paws, killing everyone who gets in his way. Everything was terrible! And it's all GREGORY's fault! The boy lowered his head, walked past the surprised chicken and sat down in the chair again. Tears began to flow down his face again. Gregory blamed himself for what had happened. The chicken crouched down in front of the boy and raised his head to look into his tear-stained eyes. On the animatronic's face, a mute question played: "What happened, baby?" Wiping a fresh batch of tears with his hand, Gregory began to apologize. "P-forgive me! Sorry! I-I didn't f-want it to turn out like this! I didn't mean to!" The chicken could not answer or object to the boy's tears and suffering. All she could do was gently stroke the child's back, hoping to comfort him at least that way. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry… I'm so sorry!.. I wish I hadn't come here at all... I wish I hadn't known about this place at all… I wish... I wish I'd never been born at all!" Hearing the last part of the boy's words, the chicken rounded its already bulging eyes. How can this kid say that? What happened to this kid outside the pizzeria that made him think that? Poor kid, he's so broken at heart. Coming closer, Chika gently hugged the crying boy, gently stroking his head. Gregory just buried his face in the chest of the broken animatronic, endlessly asking her for forgiveness. "I'm sorry… Excuse me… I'm sorry..." It is not known how long they sat there. However, Chika continued to hug the child until he stopped shedding tears. As soon as the chicken decided that everything was finally all right, she heard rapid footsteps. Someone was rapidly approaching the security room. Chika was forced to let go of the boy and gestured for him to hide behind the equipment. The hen herself went to the doors, and, making sure that they were all firmly locked, stood guard, ready to protect herself and the child. The trampling was getting closer, and after a few minutes they began to break desperately into the nearest door. "HEY! IS THERE ANYONE THERE? PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR! PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR!" Chika recognized the voice. It was their security guard, Vanessa. Wasting no time, Chika opened the door and a frightened guard literally flew into the room and collapsed on the floor. The chicken immediately closed the door. The girl's appearance was simply terrible: all her clothes were torn, the guard's cap was completely gone; there were claw marks on her back, from which blood was oozing; her hair was all disheveled, and in some places even cut off. The girl herself could not catch her breath. It was obvious that she ran for a very long time and quickly, as if someone was chasing her. Chika decided to lend her helping hand. Going to the nearest box, the chicken took out a bottle of plain water and handed it to the girl. Vanessa, finally recovering a little, was very surprised to see a broken animatronic in front of her, however, seeing that she did not want to harm her, gratefully accepted the offered water. The girl greedily began to drink water. The guard still couldn't get over the shock.   More recently, she had been going around this room in search of a missing child, and now she was running away from an army of crazy staff robots. They tore all her clothes, but the girl managed to hide from them in the nearest security post with two metal doors. Vanessa thought she was safe there. Approaching the equipment, the girl tried to contact the authorities to ask for help, but all communication routes were disabled. But fortunately, the guard had a mobile phone with her, by which she managed to call the police and call an aid squad. As soon as the girl hung up the phone, she heard a terrible noise and crash outside the door. Through the glass windows, the guard saw that the debris of the staff robots was scattered on the floor nearby, and an enraged animatronic towered right above them. Vanessa met the animatronic's eyes: his eyes were burning with fire. The guard was horrified: she had never seen the lead singer of the band, the main star of the whole pizzeria, Glamrock Freddy, so angry. The animatronic abruptly approached the metal doors and began to hit them with all his might with his paws, causing a characteristic sound and barely noticeable dents. The enraged bear was growling like a dozen trucks: he was desperately trying to get to the guard hidden inside. Vanessa was scared by the animatronic's behavior, but she was sure that the iron doors would be able to hold him. However, the girl still began to inspect the room for anything that could help her in this situation. Suddenly, the sounds of blows stopped when the guard had her back turned to the door. The young employee began to hear muffled soft thuds, as if someone was blindly trying to find a handle on the door. The girl was surprised: what was the bear trying to find there? The doors were specially equipped to contain the most aggressive animatronics. Hardly had the girl had time to think about it, when a more sonorous, but terribly intrusive sound reached her. The guard immediately realized what it was, and her skin turned sharply pale as she slowly began to turn her head towards the door. The girl's heart beat wildly in her chest: she saw Freddy's face looking straight at her with its murderous gaze through the glass window of the room, and on which the animatronic was very carefully tapping his claws, stained in something red. And the next minute, the animatronic hit the glass with all his might, leaving huge cracks on it. Then again. And again. And again. The window was about to crack. Vanessa realized that she urgently needed to escape from the room. And at the same moment when the clawed paw finally broke through the glass, and the animatronic reached for the buttons on the wall to get inside, the girl quickly opened the next door and ran away like a bullet through the corridors. The guard had never run so fast in her life. She passed every turn almost filigreed, but on the way she still began to come across unbalanced security robots with creepy painted faces. Vanessa ran as fast as she could: her legs were filled with lead, her lungs were burning, but she didn't dare stop. The girl understood that if she slowed down even a little bit, then robots would certainly grab her, or even worse, a rabid animatronic, which, judging by the loud stomping, was following right behind her. The guard on the run was thinking about salvation: she needed to find a place where she could hide from robots, and preferably there were no ill-fated windows. And at the same moment Vanessa remembered about such a place, and ran there as fast as she could. Miraculously, the girl managed to escape from the evil animatronics and security robots. Practically flying up the stairs, Vanessa tried to open the room of the central security office next to the rehearsal hall, but to her surprise, the doors were closed from the inside, but the girl still managed to get inside.   And now she was sitting on the floor, and next to her was a terribly mangled chicken. Finding the strength, Vanessa somehow got up from the floor. Going a little further into the room, the guard finally turned her attention to a small colorful lump sitting under one of the tables. As she got closer, Vanessa finally saw who it was: it was the same child she was so desperately looking for all over the building. The boy looked at the girl with fear, trying to become even smaller than he was. The guard herself, like an awakened volcano, clutching her head with her hands, began to scream heart-rendingly. "WILL SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE IS GOING ON HERE?"
